It's an eventful time for Kim Kardashian: A new baby coming, a huge transition for her stepfather, and now a fire emergency, with none other than Pharrell and his wife to the rescue. Kardashian reported on social media Tuesday that her dress caught fire following the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards Monday night. "Shout out to Pharrell & Helen who saved my life last night!" she wrote on Instagram, repeating the message on Twitter and Facebook. "LOL After the awards at dinner the feathers of my dress caught on fire from a candle & they jumped on me to get it out!" Kardashian and husband Kanye West were both at the glittery awards ceremony — tantamount to fashion's Oscars — as presenters. West presented Pharrell with the CFDA's Fashion Icon award, and Kardashian presented Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom with the media award. The ceremony took place at New York's Lincoln Center. Kardashian did not specify if the fire incident happened there or elsewhere in the city. http://www.peeptrendz.com/2015/06/kim-kardashian-says-dress-caught-fire.html |
A US official on Tuesday denied that Washington had any hand in Sepp Blatter's shock decision to resign as president of FIFA. Asked if the United States had pushed Blatter out of world football's governing body, the State Department's senior advisor for strategic communications, Marie Harf, laughed and shot back: "No." "The United States government does not have a position on who the president of FIFA is," Harf told reporters. The 79-year-old Blatter had faced increasing calls to step aside after the US Department of Justice last week levelled accusations of "rampant, systemic and deep-rooted corruption" against some of the sport's leading officials. A total of 14 officials and marketing executives have been accused by US investigators of racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering. Blatter himself had not been implicated, but seven officials were arrested in a dawn raid on a Zurich hotel on Wednesday, accused of taking more than $150 million in bribes. http://www.peeptrendz.com/2015/06/usa-denies-pushing-out-blatter.html |

When Wal-Mart Stores spent $2.4bn on a stake in South Africa's Massmart [JSE:MSM] five years ago, the world's biggest retailer said it was buying a gateway to high- growth markets in sub Saharan Africa. Despite its powerful US backer, South Africa's number three retailer, selling everything from food to electronics, has added fewer than 10 stores to the existing 25 outside its home market since 2010, lagging rival Shoprite [JSE:SHP], which doubled its outlets to 300. Massmart's slow inroads into the rest of the continent, touted as the next big growth area, highlight the challenges of doing business in Africa, and raise questions about Wal-Mart's goal of rapid expansion abroad. "From the start the Africa Rising story was a bit euphoric when looking at it from a retail point of view, and Wal-Mart is now facing the reality," said Boris Planer, analyst at London's Planet Retail. Shoprite, which many investors expected to be a casualty of Wal-Mart's investment in Massmart, has nevertheless pushed ahead in familiar local markets where the US retail giant has moved more cautiously. "If you want extra growth, you've got to take on that extra risk," said Wayne McCurrie, a fund manager at Momentum Wealth in Pretoria. "Recognising that risk, by that I mean a severe shortage of shopping infrastructure, Shoprite started setting up warehouses and partnering with developers to build shopping centres and that's why it is in this quick store roll-out phase whereas Massmart is a little bit behind." Guy Hayward, an accountant who took over as Massmart CEO a year ago, acknowledges the need to catch up with Shoprite, whose CEO cheekily asked in 2013: "Where is Wal-Mart?" "We all face challenges but Shoprite has done a good job in getting ahead," he told Reuters. Wal-Mart's slow progress in Africa also underscores the struggles the US company faces in pursuing a rapid expansion to 27 countries and 6 300 stores outside the US market. Scott Mushkin, who covers Wal-Mart at Wolfe Research, has argued Wal-Mart should look to exit markets in Asia, Europe and Africa due to lower returns than in the Americas. "We believe these operations are a distraction from what appears to be a fairly synergistic operating model from Canada to Chile," he wrote in a note to clients this month. Wal-Mart said it was still committed to Africa. "We are excited by the retail opportunities in Africa and we're confident in the ability of Massmart's leadership to drive future growth," said Marilee McInnis, director of InternationalCorporate Affairs at Walmart. Filed deals The last five years in Africa have been punctuated, for Massmart, by deals that failed to come off. Grant Pattison, who abruptly resigned last year as chief executive, tried and failed to buy Botswana's biggest grocer Choppies Enterprises, Ramachandran Ottapathu, Choppies CEO told Reuters. In Kenya, Massmart was unable to complete a deal with private retailer Naivas because of a family dispute over its ownership. At home, too, some customers are underwhelmed by Massmart's performance. Famed for its aggressive pricing, it appears to be struggling to compete with Shoprite on cheap groceries. "I was very excited when I heard Wal-Mart is bringing low prices to South Africa but I haven't seen that," said Themba Khumalo, a 31-year old bank teller outside a Johannesburg shopping mall. Wal-Mart has also had problems in its bid to fast-track the expansion of Massmart's grocery unit Game. Massmart has complained to the competition watchdog against three rivals over shopping mall leases that prevent Game from selling groceries. Africa rising Wal-Mart, and other international companies, wants to benefit from a continent poised for dynamic growth fuelled by a rising young population of workers and consumers and global demand for its commodities, an idea known as 'Africa Rising'. There are promising signs for retailers: Shoprite's Whitey Basson reported "insatiable" demand for big brands after five Shoprite stores in Angola sold more Red Bull cans than nearly all 400 stores in South Africa in one year. But others are also finding it tough. Woolworths [JSE:WHL], a Cape Town-based upscale retailer, pulled the plug on its Nigerian business, citing high rents and duties. The Spar Group [JSE:SPP], which runs franchise grocery stores, said its partner in Nigeria has managed to open just five of 20 planned stores, having struggled to find suitable real estate and having to import everything from lighting and tiles to refrigerators. Pick n Pay [JSE:PIK], South Africa's third biggest grocer by value; recently shut its franchise stores in Mozambique and Mauritius because they were not profitable. "Retail in Africa is just not that romantic, it's not easy. Anything that looks like an overnight success has probably been around for 20 years," said Pick n Pay chief executive officer Richard Brasher, while stressing the group is still seeking to expand. A common complaint is the time it takes to get goods from ports to shelves. "Even if you air-freight the goods and you think within a week your goods could be in store, it may take five weeks," said Ronnie Steyn, chief financial officer of TFG, the biggest reseller of Nike and Adidas products in South Africa. France's Carrefour, the world's second biggest retailer by sales, has taken a cautious approach. It has focused on China and Brazil as its key markets for expansion, while opting in Africa for franchise deals with strong local connections. "Going into Africa is still a little bit adventurous in a way, compared to, for example, Asia, which has mega cities and plenty of shopping malls," said Marieke Witjes, a retail consultant at AT Kearney in Johannesburg. "That's why a lot of international players are still kind of fearful about putting their money into Africa." Space shortage Hayward said Massmart remained committed to expanding further into the rest of Africa but cited the familiar list of challenges, including haphazard property laws and poor infrastructure. Among the biggest is the shortage of real estate space and big malls, something that prompted Shoprite to raise R3bn three years ago to team up with developers to build its own stand- alone stores in markets such as Nigeria. "Do I advise my clients to stay away from Africa given Wal-Mart's experience? No. Do I advise them to wait until there are enough shopping malls in countries like Nigeria to build critical mass? Yes," said one retail consultant in Johannesburg, who declined to be named. Hayward said Massmart has started setting up its own stand-alone stores and was also considering partnering with landlords on building properties. The strategy would help Massmart open 19 stores in several African countries by the end of February next year, and increase its trading space by more than 45%, he said. Gabriel Sacks, investment manager at Scottish-based Aberdeen Asset Management, the third largest shareholder in Massmart with more than 4%, is prepared to be patient. "Whilst we appreciate the market's frustration with the pace of growth, we are of the view that a more cautious approach to rolling out stores in Africa is no bad thing given our preference for capital discipline," Sacks said. "Faster growth would be welcome, but not at all costs.” - Reuter http://www.peeptrendz.com/2015/06/why-shoprite-is-beating-wal-mart-in.html |
A Brazilian man executed in Indonesia for drug trafficking who was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder did not understand what was happening to him until his final moments, a priest assigned as his spiritual adviser told Australia's ABC radio on Thursday. Rodrigo Muxfeldt Gularte was among eight people convicted of drug offences from several countries who were executed shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning. Brazil had made repeated personal pleas for Indonesia to commute his sentence on humanitarian grounds, citing his mental illness. Father Charlie Burrows, a local priest who accompanied Gularte in his final hours, told ABC he thought he had prepared the Brazilian for the execution. “I thought I'd got him ready, that he was going to be put in chains, because he didn't like being touched ... I said to him, well I'm 72, when you get up to heaven you'll know where I'm going to live, prepare a garden or something,” Burrows said. Gularte was calm as he was handcuffed by warders but became agitated when he was handed over to police outside the jail who put leg chains on him, Burrows said. “I thought he'd got the message he was to be executed but ... when the chains started to go on, he said to me, 'Oh father, am I being executed?',” Burrows said. Burrows, who witnessed the execution of another Brazilian prisoner in January, said Gularte continued to hear voices in his final days telling him everything would be fine. “He believes the voices more than he does anybody else,” he said. Gularte was caught entering Indonesia in 2004 with six kilograms of cocaine hidden in surf boards, and was sentenced to death in 2005. The 42-year-old's family presented several doctors' reports to the Indonesian authorities attesting to his mental illness, and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff had made personal pleas on his behalf. Rousseff recalled Brazil's ambassador to Jakarta after the first execution in January. Burrows joined other spiritual advisers and family members in a tent near the field on the prison island of Nusakambangan where the executions took place. They heard the men singing before shots rang out simultaneously and were comforted that there were no subsequent single shots that would have indicated one of the prisoners needed to be shot in the head. Burrows said all eight men refused blindfolds and were handcuffed at the front to allow them to shake hands with a large number of warders who had gathered outside. “They might have seen the executioners in very dark colours; it was a very dark night,” Burrows said. “They only had flashlights on the prisoners, and when we were going to meet them we were falling over stones because of the dark.” http://www.peeptrendz.com/2015/04/mentally-ill-man-am-i-being-executed.html

nevaadullmoment:wow. glad to hear that. av neva been away from lagos for 3 days sef. |
Please if anyone is fortunate :-P to be posted to Kano should signify so we can meet up. |
emusmith:Rec that. Even a perfect relationship (tho not really possible) has one of these problems. Relationship is all about acceptance, then there will be absolutely no force that can break you apart. ACCEPTANCE... |
zealot4me:2 options: 1. A break will do if truly you have the intention of working it out. 2. But if you have already made up your mind, just end it if you are sure you won't feel any hurt.... If you choose 2, i hope you won't end up with "all guys are the same". |
AsanwaKC:the best thing is take a break and clear your mind. I believe then, you will be able to rethink and rmb how u guys started. Its a way to rekindle the lost interest. This happens at one stage or the other. Just rethink. A relationship is bound to av probs. How would you behave if you two are married when you will have a lot of problems? opt for his brother or friend? The guy you are actually fantasizing about, same will happen sooner or later. Its a cycle, all u have to do is control the frequency. |
A sitemap is usually exceeding what is required in the process of building a website. A sitemap lists the pages of a website accessible to users and web crawlers. At a glance, it shows the entirety of a website which is more like a architectural view of the whole setup. A sitemap can either be a document in any form used as a planning tool for Web design or a single page that lists all the individual pages on a website, organized hierarchically. There are two popular versions of a sitemap: XML: This gives the search engines a view of all pages in a website, how they are related, their importance and how often they are updated. It does not need to be seen by users. HTML: This is designed to help users find contents on the site at the same time search engine bots easily find pages and index them. By highlighting the importance of having a well structured sitemap, webmasters will be able to create their own sitemap to suit their needs. - Navigation A sitemap literally acts as an architectural view of a website. It helps visitors find their way back when lost in between thousands of pages on the site. They can always refer to the sitemap to see where they are and navigate through with ease. - Site's theme at a glance. A user gets the idea of what the whole website is about in a matter of seconds. Reading through the whole pages of the website would not be necessary as there is no need to get the "big picture". This save the user a lot of time. - Search Engine Optimization When a sitemap is created using any of the two popular versions listed, search engine bots easily have a glance of all links/pages a site consists of. It makes it very easy for the bots to index a website and list them on search engines. It is also for this purpose that a link to the sitemap has to be placed prominently on the front page of your website. - Organization and relevance A sitemap enables you to have a complete acute view of your site's structure, and whenever there is need to add new pages or new sections, the existing hierarchy can easily be reverted back to. As a result, a perfectly organized site sorted according to relevance. - Website's quality A quality website drives quality traffic. A sitemap improves the quality of a website as users will be happy to come back. As the number of websites on the internet increases everyday, it is important to get "loyal" visitors. * It is very important to know that Google , Bing, Yahoo and Ask use the same protocol, so having a sitemap lets the four biggest search engines have the updated page information of a website. From the reasons listed above, it is important to implement a sitemap. This way, a website will be easily accessible and organized for users and web crawlers. http://www.peeptrendz.com/2015/04/why-you-need-sitemap.html

Is your relationship falling apart in front of your very own eyes? It’s easy to know if your young love or seasoned marriage is inching closer to the edge of the precipice, ready to take a freefall to its death. All you have to do is ask yourself if you’re happy in the relationship with your lover. If you’re happy, or at least content, well, chances are, you’re doing alright for now. But if you’re experiencing a prolonged state of unhappiness or dissatisfaction in your love life, there’s a very good chance that things are not all jumpy and dandy in love land. 20 signs to know if your relationship is definitely over Do you ever get that niggling thought at the back of your mind that, perhaps, your relationship may be doomed? Read these 20 signs and ask yourself if you experience any of these signs. Or send these signs to your partner and ask them if they can relate to these signs. If either of you experience more than just a few of these telltale signs in your rocky romance, perhaps it’s time to have that we-need-to-talk conversation! #1 You don’t respect your partner anymore. You think your partner is a good person, but deep within, you don’t admire them or think their words are worth your time. If you don’t think your partner is worth your admiration, in all probability, you may be looking down at your partner or perhaps even feel embarrassed by them! #2 Spending time together is boring. Both of you just don’t have anything to talk about anymore. Silence in conversations is a sign of comfort, but in your case, it makes you feel awkward or want to yawn! There are no little talks anymore, and your partner’s company just bores you to death. #3 You don’t care. You don’t really care about your partner or what they’re doing with their life. You’re selfish and you’re only concerned with your own life, your own achievements and your own happiness. This may make you feel uneasy to accept, but you know it’s the truth. #4 Your eyes wander. You think you love your significant other, but you can’t stop your eyes from looking all around you all the time. You start finding another person or two a lot more interesting and exciting. But don’t be ashamed if you do, because this is a lot more common than you think. After all, if you don’t find your partner attractive anymore, can you help yourself from falling for someone else? #5 Your partner is full of flaws. You can’t help but constantly pick flaws in your husband or wife. All the time! Every time you see them, or every time they do something, they just seem to be riddled with flaws and imperfections. #6 You’re not emotionally connected anymore. You’re indifferent to your partner’s feelings and thoughts. You may pretend to care about your boyfriend or girlfriend, but deep inside, you know you don’t really give a damn about what your partner is feeling or what they’re up to. You love your partner, but you don’t want to involve yourself so deep that you have to play a part in making them feel better about themselves. #7 Staying in touch is a chore. You hate having to constantly call or text your partner to keep them updated about your life when you aren’t around them. Even if it’s just calling each other a couple of times a day, it just annoys you because you feel like you have to report to someone about where you are and what you’re doing. #8 You can’t see a future together. There are no talks about the future between the both of you. And your partner no longer plays a pivotal role in your big scheme of things. If there are any thoughts on the future, the last person you think of is your significant other! #9 Your happy fantasies. You fantasize about your life without your partner. In your fantasy, you’re either dating someone else or just being single and hopping from one partner to another. And those dreams actually make you drool! #10 Daily lives. You don’t tell your partner about your daily events. And you don’t ask your partner about their day. And frankly, you don’t care! #11 Your partner annoys you easily. You try not to hate the things your partner does, but even the smallest things they do piss you off to no end! #12 No sex. It’s not that you hate sex, but somehow you don’t enjoy having sex with your partner anymore. You like sex, but having sex with your partner feels so dispassionate and boring. #13 Fluttering eyes. You’ve started flirting with someone else behind your partner’s back. And even if your partner feels threatened and tells you to avoid this person, you just don’t care about your partner’s insecurity. On the other hand, even if you realize that your partner is flirting with someone else, you don’t feel jealous about it *a little disgusted perhaps!*. #14 The worst side. You’re really nice to everyone and you always put your best foot forward in public. But unintentionally, you realize that you show your worst side to your partner. And you do nothing to change yourself or portray yourself in better light in front of your lover. #15 No miss-you’s. You don’t ever miss your partner when they aren’t around. In fact, just spending some away time from each other gives you that moment of bliss you’ve been longing for! #16 You crave for space and privacy. Your partner just seems to be around you all the time. And you hate it! If you’re on Facebook and your partner peeps into your screen, you don’t know why, but you just want to box their face. You love space and keep distance from your partner when you’re trying to relax. #17 Everything your partner says is stupid. Your partner just looks like an idiot to you! When they talk or try to explain something, all their words vanish into a haze and all you hear is m-o-r-o-n! #18 Comparisons galore! You start comparing your partner to all the other guys or girls that you fancy, and you always feel like you’ve got the shorter end of the stick. All your friends seem to have better and more understanding partners than you. And that irritates you more! #19 Your partner saps your energy. You feel drained, annoyed and tired after spending time with your partner. You try to have a nice time with them, but the constant arguments and differences in opinions just tires you and makes you want to run away mid-conversation. #20 You look out. You haven’t ever considered ending the relationship, but mentally you start searching for a backup! And you start fantasizing about this other person, or looking for ways to spend more time with this romantic backup. The romantic backup may be a good friend who gives you a shoulder to lean on, but before you know it, both of you may end up in an emotional affair whether you acknowledge it or not! Recognizing these 20 signs to tell if your relationship is over is really easy. The difficult part isn’t acknowledging it either, it’s understanding what you intend to do about it http://www.peeptrendz.com/2015/03/must-read-how-to-tell-your-relationship.html Cc: lalasticlala |
The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano is leaving no stone unturned in his commitment to establish cordial relationship with various religious denominations in the state, believing such bond will avail his administration the much-needed peace and spiritual backing to realize its lofty dreams for the state. Governor Obiano who spoke on Saturday at a dinner he organized for all Archbishops and Bishops of the Anglican Communion at the Banquet Hall of the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, described the Church and government as partners in progress in the task of changing lives and building a virile society. He said a clear understanding of the roles of the church will guide religious leaders in pursuing peace and unity with one another as a pre-requisite for the development of the society. The Governor observed that the state is presently reaping dividends of its partnership with the church in key sectors of the economy and assured that such engagements will be sustained. While assuring the church of his administration’s continued support towards their evangelistic strides, Governor Obiano called for fervent prayers for the nation and its leaders in the task of administering the affairs of the nation. In his remarks, the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of all Nigeria, Anglican Communion, the Most Reverend Nicholas Oko described Governor Obiano as a visionary leader and great crusader whose dogged efforts are already yielding results towards breaking barriers created by the acrimony that hitherto existed among the various religious denominations in the State. Archbishop Oko while commending the Governor’s support towards repositioning Mission-owned Schools and Health institutions in the state, assured him of the prayers and support of the church towards the success of his administration. In the entourage were 167 Anglican Prelates and their wives who were in the State for the consecration service of three new Bishops Venerable namely, Moses Tabwaye for Gwagwalada Diocese, the Venerable Johnson Ekwe for Niger West and the Venerable Isaac Oluyamo for Ijesa North Diocese, slated to hold at the All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha. The dinner guests were later thrilled with performances by the famous Mkpokiti Dance Troupe from Umunze and the State NYSC Dance and Drama Troupe. http://www.peeptrendz.com/2015/04/chief-willie-obiano-is-leaving-no-stone.html

Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir was reelected on Monday with more than 94 per cent of the vote in polls in which he had faced no serious challenger, organisers said. “The number of votes obtained by candidate Omar Hassan Ahmad Al Bashir of the National Congress Party was 5,252,478,” National Electoral Commission chief Mukhtar Al Asam told a Khartoum news conference. The announcement was met with cries of “God is greatest” from some of the audience in the hall where the results were announced. Al Bashir — wanted by the International Criminal Court on war crimes charges — had faced just 13 little known challengers for the presidency, and the mainstream opposition boycotted the vote. His closest competitor, Fadl Al Sayed Shuiab of the small Federal Truth Party, won “1.43 per cent,” Al Asam said. After him came Fatima Abdul Mahmoud, of the Sudanese Socialist Democratic Union, who won 47,653 votes, around 0.85 per cent. Polling stations had been quiet during the vote, despite a nationwide one-day extension, and the African Union’s Election Observer Mission said there had been a “generally low turnout of voters throughout”. Al Asam said turnout was around 46 per cent across the four days of polling, in which representatives of the national and state parliaments were also chosen. Al Bashir’s NCP also dominated the elections for the national parliament, taking 323 of the 426 seats, Al Asam added. International criticism The controversial vote has already faced international criticism, with the United States, Britain and Norway slamming Sudan last week for its “failure to create a free, fair and conducive elections environment”. The European Union’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini had said even before polling stations opened on April 13 that the elections could not produce a “credible” result, in part because of the government’s failure to hold a national dialogue with the opposition. But Al Bashir hit back, labelling the critics “colonialist parties” and saying they would have no effect on the electoral process. Most opposition parties boycotted and urged voters to stay away, saying the conditions were not right for a free election. But some 44 parties did take part, many of which are allied to the NCP. Al Bashir seized power in an Islamist-backed coup in 1989, and is Sudan’s longest- serving leader. The elections earlier this month were only the second contested ballots since Al Bashir took power. Then previous elections in 2010 were also marred by an opposition boycott and criticism that the vote did not meet international standards.
