PoliticsThe Gospel According To ‘Saint’ Farouk by lakesideng(op): 2:38pm On Jun 14, 2012
1) And it came to pass after these things, on the first day of the first month of the twelfth year after the second millennium, that king Jona son of Bele announced to the people saying; there is no money left in the royal treasury, and the future of the kingdom is in great danger.

2) Therefore, a measure of oil shall no longer sell for three scores of silver and seven, but shall now be seven scores of silver and one. But the people grumbled aloud, and said unto another, what shall it profit our king to gain all these oil money and lose his throne?

3) For it is appointed unto him to reign but once, and after this prison, for many are the atrocities which he has committed.

4) So they said unto the king, eat thou thy food in peace in the palace, and surround thou thyself with thine women, only touch not our oil price and do thy people no harm.

5) But the king would not listen, and said unto himself, I know my people, they shall only grumble for a while and soon they shall forget.

6) But the people would not forget, for the burden was too much for them to bear, and they said; now unto him that is able to increase the price of oil exceeding abundantly above all that his people can bear or think, according to the greed which worketh in him;

7) Unto him be curses in the streets by the masses throughout all ages, protests without end.
So they took to the streets and gave the land no peace, and there was no going out or coming in throughout the kingdom for two weeks, and the king feared greatly and said to himself, surely these people shall overturn me if I answer them not.

9) So he called the head of the labourers unto the palace, and gave him bags of gold, that they might turn off the wrath of the people against the king.

10) So the king assembled the people and said unto them; a measure of oil shall no longer be seven scores of silver and one, but shall now be four scores of silver, one dozen and one, to this your leaders have agreed. Praise me now therefore for I am a benevolent king.

11) And after all these, the Loudspeaker of the House of People said, let us inquire into the king’s claim that there be no money in the royal treasury. So they appointed Farcrook, son of Lawal.

12) And said unto him, gather ye now all the oil sellers, that we may know who stole from the kingdom. This did him with diligence, and came back with his report saying

13) Thieves abound in the land, and so have the oil sellers stole from the people, and gave them not oil, this they did with the help of Aliyaro the king’s mistress; and the amount he mentioned was unheard of in the land.

14) When the people heard this, they were dismayed, and sorrow gripped their hearts.

15) But the oil sellers went in unto the king in his chamber, and said; rememberest thou O king that the what we stole did we made available to thy campaign, and by thus did we make you king.

16) If thou deliver us unto the people that they may punish us, we will hold not our tongue to tell the people that thou art one of us.

17) And they said unto him, how else shall we destroy the message if not to destroy the messenger? Let us therefore implicate Farcrook the son of Lawal in this matter.

18) So they sent a certain rich man from the West by the name Otedollar, and he took Farcrook into his house and gave him some money, that he may alter the report which he had set before the people.

19) And it was that Otedollar went before an assembly of the people and said unto them, trust ye this man who said we stole from the treasury? Surely he is one of us, for he came unto me in the middle of the night, and he left with his pockets full of money.

20) And the people where amazed, and their hearts bled, for Farcrook was a man in whom they had to their trust.

21) So Farcrook arose, and said; Otedollar is my briber, I did not request. He maketh me to sit down in his Maitama house; he leadeth me beside the chilled champagne.

22) He exploited me greed; he leadeth me in the paths of marked dollars for subsidy’s sake.

23) Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of EFCC, I will fear no arrest: for bribes are with me; my loots and my kickbacks they comfort me.

24) Thou preparest the dollars before me, in the presence of the SSS: thou anointest my mouth with wine; my pocket runneth over.

25) Surely the shame and reproach shall follow me all the days of my life, but I will dwell in the house of PDP forever and ever.

26) And the people wept, but there was no one to console them

Christianity EtcRe: Creflo Dollar Arrested For Choking His Daughter by lakesideng: 11:59am On Jun 10, 2012
texazzpete: Are you high?! The OP clearly states that the daughter accused him of choking her, slamming her on the ground, punching her and beating her with a shoe. The story has since been corroborated by a witness (his other daughter). So what is this rubbish you're writing about 'getting the details'?

Why should the castigation NOT come from fellow Christians? Is it not Christians who should be the first to apply the gospel of LOVE in their lives and their dealings with others? Who else should be more concerned about this? Atheists? Buddhists? Are you even a Christian sef?

This fellow has been arrested for bodily assault. Get your head around the fact that he is a human being and is subject to the laws of the land before whining about him being a Pastor.
Hello texazzpete, I don't know how old you are but you sure lack good ethic of discussion of general forum and intelligence as well as many I noticed on NL. That is why I don't mostly comment on NL, because NL is of babies.

Back to the matter, because there was a witness in the place other daughter does not automatically mean the report is out-rightly correct. Moreover, do you expect from the other daughter to support the dad for not allowing the sister to go to party at 1am? Com'on this is US and not Nigeria.

All I'm saying is 'don't let us jump into conclusion or judgement easily, hear the other side of the story too. And to say I'm Christian and I know how it feel to be quote out of context.

Also, note that nobody is saying he is above the law or he is not an human being. Go back and read my post all over again and get it clear. After all, he is making headline just because he is a pastor, such happen daily in US without it making headline on NL. If you think I'm whinning about him because he is a pastor, why are whinning/commenting about him, because he is a pastorhuh......
Christianity EtcRe: Creflo Dollar Arrested For Choking His Daughter by lakesideng: 11:23am On Jun 10, 2012
First, I am not a fan of Creflo Dollar but I want to pass this across. It break my heart when I read posts like this and comments that follow. I really don't know why it is difficult for us to hear good news about pastors and other notable leaders but we are quick to hear bad news or mistakes about them.

Bad news flow like air everywhere and fast. It will very easy for news like Benny Hinn's wife divorce on the front page fast but the news of reunion will never make headline or front page!!!

People are quick to castigate pastors and church when wrong things happen but when good things happen we will never hear of that. I wonder why we celebrate bad news or mistakes of leaders or pastors more than good deeds they are doing daily, of course no one will see that, I guess!!!

And most unfortunately the castigation always and easily comes from fellow Christians, it does break me down.

So coming back to the case of Creflo Dollar, people should get the details about the assault well (whether it was ordinary slapping, punching, slamming, flogging e.t.c) from both angles before commenting, not just reading someone else comment and then decide to comment.

I'm still waiting for a day I will read a good news or deed about pastors, church or other leaders...it will be nice, I pray.

PoliticsFour Naval Officers Killed In Helicopter Crash by lakesideng(op): 12:20pm On Jan 27, 2010
A Nigerian Navy Agusta reconnaissance helicopter marked 06 with three naval officers and one rating on board crashed in the swamps of Mmiri Ochiochi in Obodo Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State yesterday, killing all the people on board.

The helicopter was heading to Lagos from Port Harcourt. The mangled bodies were being pulled out at the crash site opposite Government Secondary School, Isiokpo when THISDAY visited the scene.

Our correspondent who went to the scene of the crash by hiring local wooden boat was prevented by security men who got there earlier from taking photographs. The security men almost created a scene when a native came with a camera and tried to take shots was stopped by a naval personnel wearing JTF jacket.

Local youths who rushed to the scene almost beat up the personnel before the intervention by an army officer restored order.
Eyewitnesses told THISDAY that they noticed the helicopter in an obvious difficulty when one of its doors followed by the propeller started falling off from the sky around 1 pm yesterday.

They said they watched the helicopter going on a free spin before a loud bang followed apparently when it eventually crashed.
As at 4.30 pm when THISDAY left the scene of the crash, another Agusta helicopter, which operated with the crashed one from Air Force Base in Port Harcourt and an Apache helicopter were seen at the field of the Government Secondary School where the recovered bodies were taken to in an ambulance.

Villagers who assisted in the rescue efforts used machete to rip part of the plane apart to pull out the bodies and recover documents and belongings.
Police top hierarchy, government officials and other security outfits thronged the place while the amber uniforms of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) could not be missed at the scene.

Naval Public Relations Officer Edward Yeibo confirmed the crash but would not say where the helicopter was coming from.
Instead, he said naval authorities had sent people to the crash site to get more information.
