Politics / You Are A Sorcerer;president Jonathan Replies Tanbuwal For Blasting Him by lanightdavido(m): 7:48am On Dec 11, 2013
The Presidency has reacted sharply to the
statement by the National Assembly Speaker,
Aminu Tambuwal made yesterday, where he
stated that the President’s body language
supports corruption.
In its reaction, the President through his Media
Special Adviser, Dr. Reuben Abati noted that
“Candidly, is Tambuwal now a sorcerer that he
now goes about reading people’s body language?
Tambuwal should focus more on the efforts of the
administration in fighting corruption, and
comment on what he knows. The administration
is not going to fight corruption on the basis of
mere speculation, or the bad politics being
played by some people.”
He berated Tambuwal for making such statement
especially being a senior member of the political
class, urging him to defend the President and his
political party, despite any corruption leveled
against them. “I think it is unfortunate that a
man that is occupying such a high office is
talking about body language. He is certainly in a
position to know the truth and defend both his
party and the government. He should make the
effort to know that government is investigating
various matters & working on them in
accordance with due process”
He also reaffirmed President’s Goodluck
continous will to fight corruption, but noted that
it has to be a collective effort and not for Mr.
Goodluck alone.
He said “President Jonathan will not condone
any act of proven corruption. The fight against
corruption is ultimately a collective
responsibility.”.
The Speaker had berated the President “Coming
to what happened in the Aviation industry
recently, do we need an angel to report to EFCC
that something happened there? No we don’t!
We all belong to this country so people should
stop taking us for granted,” he established.
He also derided why, FEC, “which is not even
known to the law, should not be used as a forum
for approving and clearing contracts.”
“When I raised this issue earlier, some people
started attacking my personality, accusing me of
confronting the office of the President. However,
I still maintain that the provision of the law which
requires the Bureau of Public Procurement, BPP,
to set up a council should be respected. The
process of award review of contracts should not
be a one man affair. We know that Mr Eze cannot
do it alone.
“On our part, we have the desire to support the
anti- corruption agencies in terms of funding, but
then, our friends from the other side of
government always feel that immediately they
bring their budget we should quickly rubber
stamp it for them to go. Yet they do not
implement the budget even when it is passed.
They have not even met up to 40/59
implementation till this December.
“Fight against corruption should be personalized
by every Nigerian. All of us, individually and
collectively have a role to play. It is my opinion
that it is indeed needless for the Executive to
constitute probe committees to look into
allegations of corruption.

Sports / Argentina Knows Nothing About Super Eagles - Coach Sabella by lanightdavido(m): 7:10pm On Dec 09, 2013
Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella has admitted he knows nothing about the Super Eagles after the FIFA World Cup draw puts his team in Group F alongside Nigeria, Iran and Boznia-Herzegovina.

It is the fourth time the African champions would be grouped together with the South Americans at this level and each time the Albiceleste have advanced to the knock-out stage.

Sabella said he was pleased with the draw but insisted the opposition posed a threat to his team.

“I will have to start studying our rivals because I do not know much about them,” the 59-year-old told reporters after the draw in Brazil on Friday.

“We played Bosnia recently so I know a little on that team, but nothing about Iran and Nigeria and that could be dangerous.”

However, Sabella says overall his side can be satisfied with the draw.

“We are happy with the outcome. Aside from the teams, it is very good for us because of distances and temperatures.

“In Porto Alegre we will play at noon and the city is in the south so there aren’t very high temperatures.”

Sabella, however, revealed that his team’s performance at the tournament would be hugely dependent on the fitness of talismanic Lionel Messi.

“Obviously Messi has a great influence, not only on our team but opposing teams too,” he said.

“His condition is improving slowly but we’re confident he will be fine, fully fit and on form by the time the World Cup starts.”

Sports / Enyeama Sets For Record by lanightdavido(m): 9:24am On Dec 02, 2013
Super eagles and lillie of france goal keeper Vincent enyeama would enter the record of most kept clean sheet in the history of ligue one if he could avoid been scored in the first four minute of his side’s match against Marseille on
Tuesday.
Enyeama kept his 10th clean sheet in a row
for the Ligue 1 side as they stayed second
in the table thanks to a 1-0 win over
Valenciennes on Saturday.
The 31-year-old has kept a remarkable 13
clean sheets in 15 matches so far this
season, and needs only not to concede for
the first four minutes of the match against
Marseille to break the record of 948
minutes without conceding a goal.
Strangely, that record was set only a year
ago, by Paris Saint-Germain keeper
Salvatore Sirigu between November 17
2012 and February 8 2013.
But it could now be broken already, with
Enyeama having not conceded a goal for
945 minutes, since a 2-0 home defeat by
Nice on September 15.
Enyeama was on Arsenal’s radar during
the summer and in the early weeks of the
season, with Gunners manager Arsene
Wenger looking to bring in an understudy
for Wojciech Szczesny, although Wenger
has since appeared to cool his interest.

Sports / Onazi Open To Liverpool Move by lanightdavido(m): 11:37am On Nov 20, 2013
Reports in England suggest that the 20-year-old
midfielder, who impressed for Nigeria in the
friendly match against Italy on Monday, may
be set quit Lazio this January, after Liverpool
scouts came to watch him at Craven Cottage.
"I would jump at the chance to play in the
Premier League," the Daily Express quote's the
player to have said.
"Liverpool? They are a huge team and are
attractive to any footballer. I could see myself
playing for them."
Lazio however appear reluctant to sell Onazi,
and have already rejected Fiorentina's attempt
to secure first option on the player should
Lazio decide to sell.
Clubs interested in the services of the player
who has been likened to Jay-Jay Okocha will
have to start bidding from £6 million

Sports / Former Golden Eaglet Defender Friday Njengo Has Passed Away by lanightdavido(m): 5:41pm On Nov 19, 2013
He had been in intensive care at the National
Hospital, Abuja, for more than nine months
after sustaining injuries in a car crash.
Njengo, a regular with the Manu Garba team
during the qualifying series for the 2013 CAN
U-17 Championship, during which the Eaglets
thrashed Niger Republic, Guinea and Mali
home-and-away, was involved in an accident
with team-mate Adamu Abubakar while
traveling from Jalingo to Calabar for the team’s
first phase of final camping for the African
Championship. The accident occurred on
February 3.
“This is very sad news. We had looked forward
to the boy eventually recovering to be part of
the team again as the squad progresses to the
next level. It is a thing of sorrow to lose such a
huge talent this way,” NFF general secretary
Musa Amadu, said on Tuesday.
While Njengo sustained a head injury in the
accident, goalkeeper Abubakar was luckier
and was discharged after a few days.
NFF president, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, who was
at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa,
had ordered that Njengo be moved from the
Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo to the National
Hospital two days after the crash.
At the National Hospital, an operation was
performed on the player and he was thought to
be recovering, though still suffering from
memory lapses, until his death on Sunday
night.
The Nigeria Football Federation stated on
Tuesday that burial arrangements would be
announced after consultations with the family

Beverly and Angelo 2
When she first came out of the Big Brother Africa
reality show, Beverly Osu stunned many by denying
that she ever had intercourse with Angelo in the
bath, even though almost everyone on the social
media have watch the video and saw the act clearly.
Anyway, she is now singing a new song. Below is
what she said:
MY LIFE OUTSIDE BBA…
My life outside BBA has been wonderful. It’s nothing
I cannot handle.
THE PAINS AND GAINS…
Well, I’m usually a very busy person, but it’s just
that right now, I’ve been a very unstable person.
Sometimes, I can’t even stay here in Lagos for a
week without traveling here and there. I think that’s
a good thing because good things are coming out of
it. And apparently, there’s always the negative side
and that is mostly things that are not true that you
hear about yourself; how people see you and so on.
Some people don’t really bother about perception,
but if you’re somebody like me, you will think about
it and sometimes it will affect your work. But I thank
God that my life has been good.
THE SEX SCENE AT THE BBA…
Apparently, I don’t feel sorry because I was being
myself. So, I can’t say sorry to anyone who feels
disappointed. They’re living their lives and I’m living
mine. The only difference is that I was in a house
where I had to make the platform work for me; the
platform everybody enjoyed seeing me make. If you
guys stuck to your television for 91 days only to see
my faults, then you should check yourself because
people have their faults and it’s only people with
faults that quickly notice that in other persons. I
don’t criticise people and I don’t think people should
critisice me... no matter how you look at it, I’m still a
youth

The noise and air pollution in such an environment is killing. I would rather borrow money to pay for my subscription (if it comes to that) OR forget watching the game entirely. lipsrsealed

Although the other option that I observe in my neigbourhood is watching the match in a bar/beer-parlour. However, you will be required to buy drinks (by force). As for me that is not even an option. grin

Like many would say they rather prefer watching matches in their homes because of the more comfort and less noise been experienced during the moments of the game compared to any where else....likewise interviews with other football fans in my hood made it known that watching matches in public viewing centres tends to be more interesting because of the different contributions made by the more populated mass present...,some further stated that jokes, argument and even conflicts atimes make the tempo of viewing the match more tense....so I decided to bring this topic here for my beloved nairalander to shed some lights on this
