In what appears to be the biggest educational scam uncovered to date, the BBC London Investigations team recently exposed a scam pedalled by a bogus university named - Irish International University. The supposed institution of higher learning has been operating in the UK for the past 7 years. It rents facilities owned by Oxford university to stage most of its important events including award of honorary degrees to people. A video footage of the report can be view via the link below. http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/check/player/nol/newsid_7170000/newsid_7175300?redirect=7175388.stm&news=1&bbram=1&bbwm=1&nbwm=1&nbram=1 I guess it's not all that glitters that is gold, all those intending to gain admission to Universities in the UK should check out their authenticity very well before committing themselves to any form of payments. |
This is very healthy for Nigeria's democracy and general economic growth - if we are to take a cue from the Ettehgate episode which lasted almost 3months, the will of the people prevailed, even though, it seems they have kindof swept the issue of making madam Etteh to face the law under the carpet - she was ousted from the 'throne' and against popular and politicking of the PDP, a new speaker was chosen without their approval, the house chose unanimously. With the latest develppment of Wilbros and Siemensgate, I trust the already awakened Nigerian Public and vibrant media, they will not keep quite until the players in these latest corruption saga are brought to fore. The lesson of these events to us as a nation is that, we gradually departing from periods corruption will go untraced or exposed. Events happening in our country shows that surely days of 'sinners' in government going unpunished is getting eroded because, it will surely be exposed sooner or later. The wild fire is sweeping through the Nigerian landscape with Election Tribunals upturning elections results that have been hitherto assumed/adjudged to be 'free n fair' by the wicked umpire in INEC. It is hoped that the AGF, EFCC & ICPC will get their house in order and do the right thing - get the disgraceful lots to book. |
