Russia never harassed them, the maiden coup and the killings of pro Russians in the donbass region was what caused this . Cremia was a strategic take which Russia did first because if it had remained with Ukraine prior to the maiden coup, it will be a military strategic danger for the Russian base in Sevastopol and NATO would definitely would want to build their base there . It was a strategic move by Putin and a checkmate to NATOs encroaching towards the borders of Russia.

I don't understand these people, the US has no immediate reason to remove assad from power. Maintaining the status quo was ok by the US and its Kurdish allies.
