The European union have Euros, but ended up being vassals of the US, so they caged themselves.

They've been planning this "new currency" for many years. If it's as straightforward as you implied, they would have done it long ago. But apparently they haven't.

I am trying to understand why they are finding it hard to agree on a common currency for global trades.

Countries tried creating theirs and still creating. nigeria even created hers called eNaira but how successful was it?

People would rather go for what the govt can't control.

I think fiat money can still be used but must not be controlled by one of few people.

Secondly, fiat currencies should be pegged to natural resources like gold, silver, diamond and the likes.

And we're back to the same initial problem.

Which fiat currency could they use that can successfully replace USD for global trades? Personally, I see none.

If they tried Rubles, other nations apart from Russia will complain. Same thing with Yuan, Rupee, Real, Rand etc.

What other options do you think are possible?

Countries all over the world need someone the government can control as a means of payment.

If the so called "democratic" nations can't requinish the control of their currencies for bitcoin, why do you expect the "non democratic" ones to adopt BTC that can't be controlled by anyone?

Not necessarily BTC, as I said.

BTC is just one amongst thousands of cryptocurrencies.

They could create a whole new cryptocurrency that fits the criteria of what they want in a currency ie complete control.

Or perhaps getting an alternative USD is something that's not meant to be.

Or at least create a stablecoin cryptocurrency based on the average of all the respective currencies of the members. Just a suggestion.

The cryptocurrency should not domiciled or tied to any single nation or fiat currency. It could be programmed to have limited printability like BTC.

If it's purely military or political conflict, people supporting either sides would think straight. But with religion mixed into it, don't expect any straight thinking, especially from pro-hamas. To them, destroying the Jews is a divine mandate. While religion-blinded Israeli supporters don't care for the victims of this war - innocent Palestinians, whom Hamas unfortunately used as human shield.
