Is there really any added advantage of the 4G? With my 3G I stream HD videos seamlessly.

It has to do with individual perception though, if their 3G is strong enough in your hood that's cool but generally 4G is faster no matter what just as 5G is out of this world.

What difference does it make really?

I used to complain bitterly about slow Glo network on my former phone which isn't compatible with Glo 4G.

Fast forward to last 2 weeks when I got samsung S9+ with a Glo 4G sim, I am just experiencing more like the speed I got while in the UK on Glo. Streaming effortlessly, live radio etc.

Before you complain about the Glo network, please get yourself the 4G compatible phones first before you complain.

This is the best network in Nigeria with a very lovely data rates.

Xiaomi has developed a fast-charger that’s able to charge a smartphone with 100W of power. In a video posted on Weibo that was spotted by XDA-Developers, a 4,000mAh phone is shown charging from empty to 100 percent in 17 minutes. The fastest charger we’ve ever tested, Oppo’s 50W Super VOOC, is shown charging its 3,700mAh battery to 65 percent in the same amount of time.

Xiaomi didn’t offer any further details about how the new fast-charging technology works. Although the Type-C connector already supports 100W of power draw, the bigger challenge with delivering this much power is getting it into a small battery without overloading it. Oppo’s Super VOOC achieves this in part by splitting its 3,400mAh battery into two separate 1,700mAh cells.

Xiaomi is yet to announce which, if any, handsets the technology is coming to. However, considering the video was posted by the General Manager of the company’s Redmi brand, Lu Weibing, it’s reasonable to assume a Redmi handset will be among the first. But when?

Dual or single sim?

Another one am baffled with is my primary school certificate which I do not have because I didn't finish up before heading for secondary school.

Is it mandatory to provide my first school leaving certificate or how can I circumvent that in my applications?

The year 2019 is still very young and the smartphone industry in Nigeria is looking interesting already with the entrance of a new player: OPPO mobile

OPPO is a Chinese smartphone and electronic device manufacturer, a subsidiary of Guangdong Bubugao Electronic Industry Co. Ltd which is also the manufacturer of Vivo and OnePlus which is arguably the premium brand of the three. OPPO is setting its foot into Nigeria with the introduction of the OPPO A3s, a mid-range smartphone released in May 2018.

Over the years, OPPO has placed its focus on making quality camera phones and it continues to improve on mobile photography and processor technology to deliver quality photos for users around the world. In the second quarter of 2018, OPPO had a global market share of 8.6% and plans to increase on those figures by launching in new markets.

Nigeria is a huge smartphone market with an increase in smartphone penetration. Transsion’s TECNO, Itel and Infinix, have enjoyed the dominance in Nigeria by offering mid-range devices that meet the need of the new and existing smartphone user. TECNO put forth effort at playing in the premium space with the Phantom series where Samsung and IPhone are still the fancy of many, however, these devices are yet to favourably compete.

The smartphone space in Nigeria is fiercely competitive with many of the brands shifting focus to low end and mid-range devices. Transsion’s mobile have become a household name and are being trailed by Samsung, Motorola, and other smartphone brands like Tambo, including Huawei that has been trying to stage a comeback after an initial exit from the smartphone business in Nigeria.

OPPO’s success in Nigeria will be determined by a number of factors, however I am of the opinion that they have a chance to get a good slice of the cake considering the quality of their devices and the offering of high end specifications at low price. Some of the smartphone models in their portfolio include Oppo F series, A series and R series. We have words that there will be a launch event sometime in January 2019 and we can only confirm that the Oppo A3s smartphone will be announced but more devices in the other series may be released simultaneously.

ABUJA- Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, Thursday tasked Nigerians not to expect much from the 2019 Appropriation Bill, describing the budget proposal as hopeless.

Saraki, who spoke in his capacity as the Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, PPCO, also declared that Nigerians were safer in 2015 than they are today.

He stated this at an interactive session between the PDP presidential candidate, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Abuja.

PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at the event lamented that 60 percent of the 2019 budget is dedicated to debt servicing of the APC government which he noted has surpassed what was accrued in the 16 years of the PDP government.
Saraki in his opening remark, argued that the budget proposal presented by Buhari on Wednesday has no future because the statistics does not indicate the financial model by which it will be funded.

He said, “Yesterday (Wednesday), we all heard the 2019 budget. That is a budget that has no hope for anybody because if you look at the statistics and the figures there’s poverty, if you look at the figures based on revenues that are coming in, there is nothing left. So where’s the future?

“There must be an alternative and that is what we hope that by this evening speaking to our candidate and vice presidential candidate, not based on sentiments. We are not voting on sentiments, we are voting on what is the need for you.

“How is your life going to be better? Which party offers you a better future because we see you as those who are patriotic and committed . It’s not about what you’ll get today. It’s about the great country a lot of you expect to see.

The Senate President who noted that the President will fail to attend the January 19, 2019 Presidential debate stressed that any President that wants to lead the country and the African continent should be able to sell his blueprint to the people.

He said, “This is an interactive session. I’m not sure whether the other political parties will give you an opportunity like this to ask them any question. I’m told that one has debated and you already know the answer to that debate. On the second one, I’m very sure he’s not going to debate. So how do you assess somebody who is not ready to tell you what he’s going to do.

“Those days are gone, my good people. A country that leads the continent that is not ready to show example is not what we want for this continent. The whole world is going in a direction, if you’re seeking a position, you must come and tell people what you want to do. You must sit down and they will ask you questions and that is why we’re here.

“Today is your day, we will sit down and take questions. I hope at the end of the exercise you will stand up and say yes this is the team that will secure Nigeria, this is the team that will unite Nigeria , this is the team that will fight the poverty in town and bring a bright future.”

Atiku’s running mate, Obi, who also faulted the 2019 budget said “When you look at the revenue, we will spend 60 percent to service debt. So what is left? And they will borrow more.

“What they borrowed in 2016 and 2017 is the same PDP borrowed in 16 years. When you ask them, they say they use it for capital project.”

He lamented the level of poverty in the country and lambasted the President for urging Nigerians to tighten their belts, saying “Nigerian people have no belt again to tighten up”, stressing “we now wake up everyday with a sense of helplessness.”

While he noted that APC administration didn’t heed warnings over the alarming rate of job losses and unemployment in 2017, he said the recent rise in the unemployment rate from 18.8 percent to 23 percent is only going to get worse because “nobody is doing anything.”

He promised that immediately they get elected into office, their administration will show numbers of persons who are unemployed and correspondingly provide daily statistics on the number of persons that will get jobs.
