Chelsea are preparing another bid to entice Ross Barkley to Stamford Bridge. Barkley snubbed the Premier League champions on deadline day in August because he preferred the idea of a move to Tottenham where he thought he had more chance of regular football. Spurs were unwilling to make a move at the time because the 24-year-old Everton and England midfielder was facing months out with a serious hamstring injury. Barkley is at least two weeks away from fitness and Mauricio Pochettino remains interested. 'We are focused on trying to bring more English players through the academy,' said Tottenham boss Pochettino, last week. 'If we don't have this profile we will try to take advantage of the English market and add more English players here.' get full info @ http://www.lantansport.com.ng/ross-barkley-returning-fitness-soon-chelsea-preparing-another-bid/

Eden Hazard is holding off signing a new Chelsea contract as Real Madrid continue to circle. Last season's Premier League champions want to tie the 26-year-old down to a new deal with them willing to pay him as much as £300,000 per week. It would make him the highest paid player in the history of the club but, like goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Hazard wants to wait until the season is over. get full info @ http://www.lantansport.com.ng/eden-hazard-delaying-signing-extension-contract-chelsea-beyond-2020/

Rafa Benitez could find the solution to his Newcastle United goalkeeper search by bringing Porto’s Iker Casillas to the Premier League next month. Casillas, a veteran of three Champions League wins and five La Liga titles with Real Madrid, is out of the first team at Porto and could prove a good fit for the Magpies. A report in Portugal’s Jornal de Noticias suggested the 36-year-old keeper is ‘in Newcastle’s plans’, although it is understood they would not be willing to match Casillas’ £95,000-per-week Porto wage packet get full info @ http://www.lantansport.com.ng/iker-casillas-emerges-potential-target-newcastle-united-rafa-benitez-eyes-experienced-goalkeeper/

Kevin Pietersen is sitting in a breakfast bar at the Hyatt Regency hotel near Darling Harbour. We are talking about the space he is in. It is a happy space, he says. A very happy space. No stress, no politics, no jealousy, no angst, a lot of golf and a bit of cricket, playing with his buddies on the T20 circuit in Australia, Dubai and England. 'I cannot wait to meet up with the Melbourne Stars next week,' he says of the team he plays for in the Big Bash. 'They're legends. Legends. I fit in and have fun. We are all on the same playing field, we all enjoy ourselves, we all have a laugh, we all play these tournaments around the world, there is no nonsense and we have… The. Best. Time. Ever. Tiger Woods' surprise challenge at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas fell away as he recorded a three-over-par 75 in his third round on Saturday. Woods had exceeded expectations on his latest comeback from injury, following a solid opening round with a spectacular second in which an eagle on the ninth helped him briefly hold the outright lead. But Woods' disappointing third round hauled him back to a four-under-par total of 212, 10 strokes behind the outright leader, American Charlie Hoffman. get full info @ http://www.lantansport.com.ng/tiger-woods-surprise-challenge-hero-world-challenge-fallen-away/

Real Madrid are weighing up a January move for Chelsea defender David Luiz. The Brazil international has dropped down the pecking order under Antonio Conte after falling out with the Italian following Chelsea's 3-0 Champions League defeat by Roma in October. The 30-year-old was subsequently made to train alone and was dropped for the game against Manchester United and left on the bench against West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool. Luiz has already been ruled out of Chelsea’s game with Swansea City on Wednesday as Conte says he requires further treatment to an ongoing knee problem. 'I must be honest at the moment it is difficult for me to answer [how long he will be sidelined],' said the Chelsea manager. 'It will be up to the doctor to assess it and take the best decision.' Luiz returned to Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain in a £34million transfer 15 months ago and was named in the PFA Team of the Year last season as they went on to win the Premier League title. However, the fall from grace under Conte has left him to question his future, knowing he needs to play regularly to retain his place in Brazil's World Cup squad for the summer. get full info @ https:///p96E1D-1gz

Last Saturday should have been Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's triumphant return. After over a month without a league goal, the Gabonese striker had scored one and set up two to put Dortmund 4-0 up at half-time against arch rivals Schalke. Then the second half happened. Aubameyang missed a gilt-edged opportunity to make it 5-0, before receiving a second yellow card with the score at 4-2. Schalke went on to level the scores in injury time. Aubameyang, having briefly recaptured Dortmund hearts, was once again the villain of the piece. Borussia Dortmund's relationship with their star striker has become increasingly troubled of late. get full info @ https:///p96E1D-1gw
