Real Madrid are expected to complete a deal for Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga by the first week of January.

According to Spanish publication Marca, Madrid are set to offer their La Liga rivals £22million, which is £5million more than the £17million release clause in his contract.

The Spanish champions are keen to get the deal done, despite Arrizabalaga's current contract expiring in the summer.

Chelsea are preparing another bid to entice Ross Barkley to Stamford Bridge.

Barkley snubbed the Premier League champions on deadline day in August because he preferred the idea of a move to Tottenham where he thought he had more chance of regular football.

Spurs were unwilling to make a move at the time because the 24-year-old Everton and England midfielder was facing months out with a serious hamstring injury.

Barkley is at least two weeks away from fitness and Mauricio Pochettino remains interested.

'We are focused on trying to bring more English players through the academy,' said Tottenham boss Pochettino, last week.

'If we don't have this profile we will try to take advantage of the English market and add more English players here.'

Eden Hazard is holding off signing a new Chelsea contract as Real Madrid continue to circle.

Rafa Benitez could find the solution to his Newcastle United goalkeeper search by bringing Porto’s Iker Casillas to the Premier League next month.

Real Madrid are weighing up a January move for Chelsea defender David Luiz.

The Brazil international has dropped down the pecking order under Antonio Conte after falling out with the Italian following Chelsea's 3-0 Champions League defeat by Roma in October.

The 30-year-old was subsequently made to train alone and was dropped for the game against Manchester United and left on the bench against West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool.

Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam has signed a one-year contract extension.

The 31-year-old Scot revealed the news on his official Twitter feed, writing: ‘Delighted to announce that I have extended my contract with Stoke for a further year.’

Former Rangers trainee Adam joined the Potters from Liverpool in August 2012 and has gone on to make 151 appearances.
