2. Minister for Works, HE Umahi will real this out to you. But from my side, last week, I plied the lagos abeokuta road smoothly for the first time in 20 years!. All the bridges in Lagos are being rehabilitated as they were very close to collapsing one by one. The lagos calabar coastal road is a game changer for Lagos and other states involved. The impact will be spoken about for the next 100years. Guess what, when OBJ was asked in 2002 if he will build that coastal road. He simply said Nigeria cannot afford it. But Tinubu by blocking the leakages in 1. above is saying, yes we can afford it. Brilliant!

Nigeria desperately needed a leader who’d take a few tough decisions to set the country on the right path. That leader could not afford to be a vain populist. Or a congenital weakling.

The country could also not afford an unintentional leader who’d buckle or budge when their tough stands are met with criticisms from those who cannot see or those who look but refuse to see.

President Bola Tinubu has been that leader. The country has a plethora of complex and multilayered challenges. The man is not himself perfect and the people, of many tongues and motivations ask of you different things at the same time. Whoever wears the crown cannot always be popular.

Thankfully, Bola Tinubu hasn’t played for popularity. He has for the urgent and important. Time will tell, even though the present already offers a glimpse into what’s possible.

OBJ met less than $3b in the external reserve, a debt of about $60b, crude oil was less than $20b, plus other worst situations. He met Nigeria far worse than what Tinubu met, but he didn’t impose unnecessary burdens on the citizens. He didn’t increase tax, VAT, school fees, bank charges. He didn’t remove subsidies, he didn’t devalue the naira, etc.

1. The external reserve as at the time your Emiefele left was down to barely $3billion when you back out the FX forwards to banks, trapped airline funds, and part of the external reserve already used as collateral with JP Morgan. So the unencumbered $38 billion foreign reserve is wishful thought.
2. The monumental fraud in petroleum subsidy and crude oil swap had to be stopped immediately. Divide $10 billion USD by 365 days to give you an idea of what the oil and gas parasites were pocketing daily. Add the petroleum products smuggled across the porous borders and we are talking over $15 billion of huge leakages in our fragile economy.
3. Yes Tinubu worked to bring Buhari to power, but we all know Buhari ran his government the way he deemed fit. Was Tinubu a member of his cabal? If anything, he was completely sidetracked by Abba Kyari and Maman Daura. Baring occasional push back, have you ever heard Tinubu complain? He is busy working to right the wrongs.
4. What was Atiku's role in OBJ's government when OBJ made him a personal non grata in their 2nd term. Atiku used the 1st term to enrich himself....Intel is staring us in the face.
5. The gap between the official and autonomous foreign currency market was inimical to any economic development. Emiefele and the Buhari cabal were simply feeding fat on the free currency arbitrage. Only a mad man will keep that going. OBJ, YarAdua, Jonathan all bridged the gap between official and black market rate to a tiny fraction!

Tinubu could have continued and be sharing the rewards of these economic sabotage amongst his friends and cronies, but he choose not to.
