Manchester United fans unhappy with the way their club is being run, went to street to protest which led to a stadium invasion and properties destroyed (very expensive cameras). These fans were complaining and lamenting how their club is being run. These fans felt their matchday enjoyment, fun and lifestyle was being threatened by poor management.
The authorities, the UK Government being the 8th largest military spenders in the world did not send tanks and ammunition to threaten, harass, intimidate or kill this protesters. The UK authorities with the 8th most funded police in the world did not go hunting the protesters to kill.
This fans were angry because they felt their enjoyment and lifestyle is under threat.

Now contrast that with Nigeria Government, they rolled out tanks to kill, abduct, rape, harass, threaten, intimidate people whose crime was to wave a flag (Biafran flag). The military and police took up combatant positions, to use flag-waving Biafran agitators as target practice.
The military and police disappeared, abducted, raped, killed people who are not asking for personal enjoyment but who are asking for LIFE'S FUNDAMENTALS like good roads, quality education, electricity, quality infrastructure, employment, basic healthcare, clothing, FOOD, shelter which Nigeria has failed to provide.
Biafrans are hunted and killed because they are saying if Nigeria cannot guarantee us these LIFE'S FUNDAMENTALS then maybe this new country can.

[b]The slaughter on Saturday of more than 130 Fulani herdsmen in central Mali, allegedly by members of the Dogon ethnic group, is the latest and most deadly incident in an increasingly violent conflict.

In 2018, 202 civilians were killed in communal violence in 42 incidents in Mali's Mopti region, according to New York-based group Human Rights Watch.

While there have been conflicts between the more settled Dogon people and the Fulani herders in central Mali for a long time, they have become increasingly violent since a militant Islamist uprising in the north of the country in 2012.

The government appeared to blame the Dogon self-defence group, Dan Na Ambassagou, for Saturday's attack and has outlawed it, even though the group has denied any involvement.

The Dogon people, who largely practise settled agriculture, have lived in the Bandiagara escarpment in central Mali for centuries.

Some have settled in cities but those who continue to herd cattle can range across vast distances and have at times come into conflict with agricultural communities.

In Nigeria, there has also been a similar cycle of violence between Fulanis and settled farmers, which in 2014 was said to have been the fourth most deadly conflict in the world.
What is behind this conflict?

Dogon people have often accused the Fulani of bringing their cattle onto their farms and destroying their crops.

This has historically led to tension and at times violence between the groups, but competition over resources was frequently resolved by negotiation.

But the militant Islamist conflict that began in northern Mali in 2012 and spread to central areas by 2015 brought more instability, weapons and a lack of government control into the region.

The Dogon, who have been victims of militant attacks, accuse the Fulani of aiding the jihadists. Meanwhile, the Fulani say that the Dogon self-defence groups have been armed by the government, and are carrying out atrocities against them, which is denied by the authorities.

Since 2015, government control in Mopti has weakened, meaning that people do not feel they can rely on the authorities, the BBC's Alou Diawara reports from the capital, Bamako.
What is the Dan Na Ambassagou?

Dan Na Ambassagou, which means "hunters who trust in God" in the Dogon language, is an association that was formed from local self-defence groups.

It was created in 2016 to "defend our community", according to members quoted by Human Rights Watch, but came to prominence last year.

There have been accusations that it has been involved in a number of the attacks on Fulanis last year, but it has denied this.

Likewise, it was accused of being behind Saturday's attack as the perpetrators were dressed in traditional Dogon hunting gear. But Dan Na Ambassagou says the association was not involved.

"We have nothing to do with this massacre which we utterly condemn," it said in a statement.

"Anyone can wear hunters' costumes, they are available in the markets."
Are there Fulani self-defence groups?

Some community members formed the Alliance for the Salvation of the Sahel (ASS) in May last year to protect Fulanis from armed groups in Mali and Burkina Faso, Human Rights Watch says.

But it is not clear what links the ASS has with other Fulani village self-defence groups.

The ASS is accused by Dogon militia of being linked to militant Islamist groups in the area, but it denies this.
What are the authorities doing?

In addition to banning Dan Na Ambassagou, President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita also sacked two generals: chief of staff Gen M'Bemba Moussa Keita and chief of land forces Gen Abdoulaye Coulibaly.

In a statement, the presidency said that "the protection of the population remains and will remain solely in the hands of the state", distancing itself from claims that it has outsourced the fight against the jihadists.

"Our forces will... actively disarm any person who should not be armed," it added.

International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor Fatou Bensouda condemned the attack. She said it could fall under her jurisdiction and that her office "will take all necessary steps to ensure the investigation and prosecution of those who participated in or otherwise contributed to what appears to be egregious crimes".

The ICC has been working with the Malian authorities since 2012 on the impact of the jihadist uprising.[/b]

Doreen Lawrence, who campaigned for 18 years for justice after her son Stephen was murdered by racists, has said a government-commissioned report that claimed the UK no longer had a system rigged against minorities could allow racism to flourish.

“My son was murdered because of racism and you cannot forget that. Once you start covering it up it is giving the green light to racists. You imagine what’s going to happen come tomorrow. What’s going to happen on our streets with our young people? You are giving racists the green light,” Lady Lawrence said.

Her words follow an outcry over the 258-page report from the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities (CRED), which claimed the term “structural racism” was “too liberally used” and that factors such as socioeconomic background, culture and religion had a “more significant impact on life chances”.

Shortly after the report’s publication the government admitted that a “considerable number” of people giving evidence – particularly from ethnic minorities – had in fact told the commission that structural racism was a real problem.

Speaking hours after the report was released at a virtual event organised by De Montfort University in Leicester, Lawrence said: “When I first heard about the report my first thought was it has pushed [the fight against] racism back 20 years or more.

“I think if you were to speak to somebody whose employer speaks to them in a certain way, where do you go with that now? If a person is up for promotion and has been denied that, where does he go with that now?

“You know, all these things we’ve been working for and showing that structural racism exists – we talk about the pandemic when you look at how many of our people have died, all the nurses, the doctors, the frontline staff, of Covid, and to have this report denying that those people have suffered?

“They are denying that the likes of my son was murdered through racism and the fact that it took 18 years to get justice for him. The report is denying all those issues.”

Stephen Lawrence’s death in 1993 prompted the 1998 public inquiry headed by Sir William Macpherson. Macpherson examined the police investigation into Stephen’s death and ruled that the Metropolitan police force was institutionally racist.

The publication in 1999 of Macpherson’s report has been called one of the most important moments in the modern history of criminal justice in Britain.

Lawrence told the audience on Wednesday night that the new report sought to undermine and deny progress since her son’s death.

“Those people who marched for Black Lives Matter? It’s denying all of that. The George Floyd stuff? It’s denied all of that. So those who sit behind this report [saying] that racism doesn’t exist or it no longer exists need to speak to the young boys who are stopped and searched constantly on the street. They need to speak to those young people.

“They [the report authors] are not in touch with reality, basically. That’s what it boils down to. When you are privileged you do not have those experiences,” she said.

Lawrence and her solicitor Imran Khan were speaking at a public event organised by De Montfort University’s Stephen Lawrence research centre.

The event had been planned in advance to discuss Leicester’s plans to mark the national Stephen Lawrence Day on 22 April, but conversation quickly turned to the report published on Wednesday morning by the CRED, which had been set up after the Black Lives Matter protests last summer.

Lawrence and Khan fought for 18 years to get convictions against two of Stephen’s murderers. The Macpherson report concluded the police investigation into the killing had been “marred by a combination of professional incompetence, institutional racism and a failure of leadership”.

Lawrence’s comments were disclosed on the day that a British police officer became the first to be convicted of belonging to a neo-Nazi terrorist organisation.

PC Ben Hannam, 22, was found guilty of membership of the banned rightwing extremist group National Action (NA) following a trial at the Old Bailey.

Downing Street did not wish to comment on Lawrence’s criticisms. A UK government spokesperson said: “The Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities has now been published. The government will respond to the recommendations in due course.”

Khan said of the new report: “I was shocked. I was absolutely shocked. It’s unbelievable. One of the panel members of the Lawrence inquiry coined the phrase ‘a reality spectrum’ because when we were talking about racism in the inquiry around the time that Stephen was murdered there was one reality of those who experienced racism and there was another reality of the [police] officers and the institutions.

“So, what this panel member said was that you have got to cross that reality spectrum. That’s what reminds me of today.

“These authors of the report are living in a completely different reality to those who are going about their business and on the same day that I am looking at the trial in the States [of the police officer accused of murdering George Floyd], you are having this.

“What reality do the authors occupy when they see the statistics of stop and search and they see the statistics of the number of black people within the prison system or the disproportionate number of people who are getting convictions and so on?

“The data completely undermines that report and you wonder whether it’s the sort of thing that we got immediately after the Lawrence inquiry – in fact, during the Lawrence inquiry – of police officers saying: ‘There is no institutional racism,’ and then, after that, they said: ‘Well there was, so now we have changed it.’

“And that gives, unfortunately, those who wish to peddle racism the opportunity now. They have been given the green card to say: ‘I am not being racist. Racism does not exist.’

“So, I am afraid, as Doreen rightly says, it has put back the issue of tackling discrimination and racism 20-odd years. We are back to square one. Disappointing is an understatement.

“It is shocking and, to not put too blunt a point on this, it is not worth the paper it is written on. I have client upon client who complains about racism left, right and centre. Nobody has spoken to me about that. I wonder who they have spoken to about that and what this is out to achieve?

“Is this government seeking to draw a line under issues of racism because they don’t want to deal with it? Because to deal with racism is difficult. It requires changes to be made and this government does not want to do it. Individuals and institutions don’t want to do it. So, we are in for a really rough ride.”

A spokesperson for the CRED said the report found evidence that outright racism did exist in the UK and had made strong recommendations that the Equality and Human Rights Commission be given more resources.

The spokesperson said: “The report also highlights many instances of success among our ethnic minority groups, in education and health, something which we should recognise and learn from.

“Commissioners have also made clear that factors such as deprivation, geography, family structure and sex all merit consideration before confirming that racial discrimination is driving different outcomes between groups and that is conveyed in the report we have presented to government.”

Obigbo Women Forced To Wear Same Underwear For Four Months In Army Detention – Intersociety

About 50 women allegedly arrested by the Nigerian Army during the crisis in Obigbo, Rivers State, last October, were forced to wear the same set of underwear for four months in military detention, a civil rights group, the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, has said.

The Intersociety noted on Tuesday that there were fears that some of the ladies, who were recently freed after a prolonged legal intervention, could have infections such as sexually transmitted diseases as some of them claimed to have been serially raped.

SaharaReporters had on February 16 reported that going by the accounts of two of the girls, they were routinely raped by soldiers during the months they spent at the detention facility in Mogadishu Barracks, Asokoro.

The victims said they were arrested around a market in Obigbo while on their way home from work between 7 pm and 7.30 pm in November 2020 and were initially taken to the Nigerian Army base in Obinze Army Barracks, Owerri, Imo State, and then to Abuja.

The Intersociety noted on Tuesday that its findings revealed that the abducted Obigbo women were made to wear the same set of underwear for months, while the army also acted “unconstitutionally, inhumanly, hatefully and abominably by holding the victims incommunicado and outside access to their families, physicians and lawyers”.

The Intersociety release was signed by Emeka Umeagbalasi, Chinwe Umeche, Obianuju Igboeli, and Chidimma Udegbunam.

The civil rights group said, “Going by our findings, including oral interviews from the two freed Obigbo girls and insider sources at army and DSS (Department of State Services) dungeons, the over 60 abducted Obigbo girls and young women were made to wear one set of underwear – pants and a brassiere– from October and November 2020 till date.

“In other words, the victims have been made to wear the same set of pants and brassieres worn when they were abducted by soldiers of the Nigerian Army in October and November 2020 at various points in Obigbo. This is more so when the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services totally blocked the victims’ access to their loved ones, including physicians, families, and friends, and declined to make their abduction and captivity public knowledge.

“We also doubt if COVID-19 protocols were observed where they were held for four months. Apart from serious suspicion of routine sexual harassment, the women are most likely to have been exposed to a litany of health dangers including sexually transmitted diseases and other health challenges as well as mental and menstrual discomforts.

“The victims only got freed when their names were stressfully and painfully traced by activists and bail applications filed and successfully granted and served on the army authorities, after which the army authorities got them out from different secret locations where they were kept. The totality of these is abominable and unknown to Sections 35 and 36 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, particularly subsection 4 of Section 35 and subsections 8 and 12 of Section 36.”
