Abit aware of your issue and being following up at the background, what is the true position of things as at now? The Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Tai Solarin University of Education, TASUED, Ijagun, Ogun State, Olusoga Olusanya, has been kidnapped. PREMIUM TIMES learnt Mr. Olusanya was returning from an official assignment at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta on Monday evening, when unidentified gunmen abducted him. The gunmen, who also abducted Mr. Olusanya’s driver, however, dropped him (driver) off along Odogbolu Road. When PREMIUM TIMES visited the university’s main campus in Ijebu-Ode, the mood in the institution was dull while some staff stood in small groups discussing the incident. A source, who pleaded not to be named because he is not authorised to speak on the matter said Mr. Olusanya’s kidnap might have prompted the postponement of the emergency senate meeting of the university. The meeting, according to the source, was expected to hold on Tuesday but was shifted when news of the DVC’s kidnap filtered into the campus. Meanwhile, the university’s Vice Chancellor, Oluyemisi Obilade, has called for an unconditional release of the university teacher. Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES on Tuesday, Mr. Obilade said, “All I want is the unconditional release of my DVC.” The university is also said to have organised a prayer session to seek divine intervention for the release of the abducted lecturer. However, the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, in the university, Akinsola Akinsanya, decried the rampant cases of abduction in the country. Mr. Akinsaya noted that the situation is indicative of the deplorable state of security in the country and called for urgent intervention by the relevant agencies of the government. In a terse reply to a question by PREMIUM TIMES, Mr. Akinsaya said, “We in ASUU are calling for an unconditional release of Prof. Olusanya.” When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ogun State Police Command, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the development, adding that investigations have commenced on the matter. The abducted university teacher served as an external invigilator in the ongoing postgraduate examination at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. He was returning from the university when his abductors accosted him along Odogbolu-Ijebu- Ode-Ore- Benin expressway, and whisked him away. |
hannne:Welcome...ur real name and what u do? |
Op really like the way you treated the topic, never directed it at any one or denomination, but those that feel it applys to them are reacting, I believe this isn't a topic to argue, he has just given the real analysis, it's clear that Catholics will never accept, no matter the analysis, they will always find a way to back it up, with facts that do not exist, have had such arguments before and it ends up in abuses as its going on now.. OP you have made your point and we that know how right you are have accepted, let those that do not accept just keep quite rather than raising unnecessary arguments. |
