FamilyRe: Guys, Can You Go In With Your Wife To Labour Room? by Larryjay4u: 8:05pm On Aug 24, 2015
I did just that 1 year plus ago when our now walking baby came to the world. I actually took time off work to make sure I am with her throughout the delivery in the labour room. It was not easy because when it was taking too long I cried. At the end God answered us and she delivered safely without operation. From that day on I started showing her more than usual respect, care and love. Kudos to all mothers present or future.

Nairaland GeneralOlusegun Obasanjo Has Said That He Would Never Be A Politician Again In His Life by Larryjay4u(op): 7:52am On Aug 12, 2015
While hosting Kogi State governor, Capt. Idris Wada, at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he would never be a politician again in his life, declaring that he remains a 'partyless' Nigerian and would continue to carry the toga of a statesman.

The ex President said despite his not playing active partisan politics anymore, he would continue to work with any Nigerian with good intention and leadership traits.

"Everybody is welcome but they must be with good leadership traits, and genuine intention to improve the country. We should understand first that, not the party makes the person, but the person makes the party. It is who you are that you bring into the party. Though, for now I remain a 'partyless' Nigerian, but, I will continue to welcome any Nigerian with good leadership qualities.

It does not matter which party you are, either, PDP, APC, Labour, APGA any party at all, as long as you a are committed, sincere and a purposeful leader, I am ready for you. And that is what our brother is doing. I pray that this country will never be short of this type of people," Obasanjo said.

While reacting, Gov. Wada explained that the visit to Obasanjo was coming on the heels of his recent award as the best governor in the country that took place in Lagos, saying, "Since we were honored as the best governor yesterday in Lagos, we deem it appropriate to come down to Abeokuta to report to our father, the little recognition we got."

PoliticsBuhari’s Age, Burden On Governance — Abdulsalam by Larryjay4u(op): 10:01pm On Jun 21, 2015
Buhari’s age, burden on governance — Abdulsalam

President Muhammadu Buhari during his recent visit to South Africa said his old age might affect his performance. What is the implication of this before the international community?

Buhari proved to be a man of honesty in South Africa; unfortunately though, he poured out his mind and told the world that he could not do what he thought he could do insisting that age, this time around, would tell on his administration and age would take a toll on what he could do and could not. He said age would take a serious effect on his capacity to perform the way he wanted to perform if he were to be at the age of 30 or 40 years old. But because he came out sincerely and honestly to tell the world the situation, the All Progressives Congress, being surrogate of the Peoples Democratic Party, decided to say that Buhari did not say what he said in South Africa. But the journalists who quoted him quoted him correctly, verbatim and very well. Thus, Buhari did say what he said and the APC should not go and be bending the fact. What certainly came out of Buhari’s utterances and confession is that Nigerians and the world should not expect to see that change which he promised them. Let Nigerians not trust the APC that Buhari will perform miracle and expect change because of his age. No. Age will tell on him and he will not be able to do what he thought before now he would be able to do and that is why he is telling the world: ‘don’t expect miracle from me, don’t expect me to be agile, don’t expect me to be vibrant, don’t expect me even at times to be sufficiently very articulate because of the age I find myself now.’

Did the Labour Party raise the issue of Buhari’s age before the elections?

Yes, we did. I did say clearly that in a country made up of over 60 per cent of youth who are very vibrant, very agile, very articulate and very forth coming why should we elect an old person? The age of the likes of Buhari, (former President) Olusegun Obasanjo and others are not actually the age they declared to us. These people are older than their declared ages. We did raise the alarm that time that if the APC could not look for youths who could win elections for them, they had better tell Nigerians the true situation of things. But Buhari himself kept on saying he could run 100 kilometres and so forth; but it is becoming clearer now that we were fed with lies. But certainly I did point it out that Buhari’s age would tell on him when he assumes power.

Considering your conviction, would you suggest electoral reforms to limit the age of those aspiring to the Presidency of the country?

I won’t support disallowing people of old age aspiring to whatever position they want in Nigeria because that will be undemocratic and it will amount to stopping people from getting what they want to get. But, the political parties themselves should be able to regulate the age of the individual they present to contest electable posts because the more one gets old, the less one is able to perform. Let’s face the reality in the world of today. In places like the United States and Britain which the APC would always cite as examples, their leaders are younger people. All over the world today, people are producing relatively younger people who could meet up with the challenges of the modern world. The world has moved beyond analogue, we are now talking about digital situations. Bringing analogue leaders in today’s world will create setback for a country like Nigeria.

Which age bracket would you recommend for presidency?

Anyone aspiring to the President of the country should be between 45 and 65 years old. Anything beyond that may be problematic.

Why?

If it goes beyond 65, the older one becomes, the weaker one gets. The person may not be able to perform.

What do you foresee now that Buhari has started admitting that Nigerians should not expect much from him because of his old age?

It would be very unfortunate if Buhari starts complaining about his old age. The fact of the matter is with the age on him now, he will certainly not be able to meet up and Nigerians are being told in unmistakeable language that, ‘don’t expect much from me because I can no longer perform the way I thought I would be able to perform.’ This age burden on Buhari, is also a burden on Nigeria and on governance in Nigeria. It will affect all spheres of administrative life in Nigeria because a president must be able to work at least 18 hours a day. But at his age, Buhari cannot work 18 hours in a day. If he tries it, he will crash out of the system and we are praying that he will be able to manage himself all through the four years.

Would you then call for his resignation?

One cannot say he should resign at this point in time because of his popularity. To say he should resign now will incur the wrath of some fanatics who believe in Buhari and believe he can perform magic. Let us manage him, let us go along with him and see the extent to which he can go.

Do you foresee Nigerians regretting voting for Buhari based on his age burden?

I won’t pre-empt it now, it is not Buhari that Nigerians will regret ever voting but Nigerians will regret ever voting the APC into power because it is like the PDP. If you look at the conglomeration of the APC, you will discover that it is PDP, ACN, CPC and ANPP. These are the people who came together and now, PDP who is their mother is now gaining upper hand over and above everybody. And that is why there is going to be more crisis than Buhari’s age. The crisis that will engulf APC will be more turbulent than Buhari’s age.

Since most states can’t pay salaries of civil servants, would you suggest that Buhari listens to the bailout agitation?

Buhari should not bail out any state. Let them go back to the drawing board, let them get internally generated fund so that they can be able to pay workers’ salaries or alternatively, let them use all the federal allocations being sent to them to pay workers’ salaries while they use whatever they generate internally to meet up with the other expenses of the state.

The fact of the matter is that there are a lot of white elephant projects in these states. Most of these governors after their first term in office, will pocket the money during their second term for themselves and their families. They will never utilise it in the interest of the people. To bail them out is to create bad precedence for future situation. That is to say the Federal Government is going to take over the regular payment of workers salary. If the Federal Government bails them out now and they are able to pay the salaries, subsequently, many more will come up and request the Federal Government to do same. The Federal Government should not bail out any state; let them bail themselves out from the quagmire they created for themselves.

What would you suggest as measures to be taken against these governors?

I suggest and I believe all those former governors including those currently in the Senate should be invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offenses Commission to explain how they managed the resources of their states. Any governor that his state cannot pay salary must be invited to account for what happened to the resources of their state.

PoliticsAtiku, Akande Battle For APC BOT Chairmanship by Larryjay4u(op): 7:06am On Jun 20, 2015
Atiku, Akande battle for APC BOT chairmanship

There are strong indications that a fresh power tussle is brewing in the All Progressives Congress over the chairmanship of its Board of Trustees.

Saturday PUNCH reliably learnt on Friday that the tussle was between former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and a former Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande.

Investigations showed that the tussle was part of moves by the power blocs in the APC to influence decisions in the party by taking control of its various organs.

Saturday PUNCH had last week reported that two power blocs led by Atiku and a National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, had engaged in a fierce battle to control the party.

It was learnt that the two camps believed that the BOT chairmanship would go a long way in assisting them to control the party.

The chairman of the BOT, according to Article 13.2 of the APC constitution, shall be elected by the board members.

Both camps, investigations showed, had started reaching out to members of the board, who would elect the chairman.

It was learnt that Akande was being backed by Tinubu, who is not happy with Atiku’s role in the National Assembly leadership elections.

The struggle for the chairmanship of the APC’s BOT, investigations revealed, became intense following the National Assembly leadership elections on June 9.

Atiku was reported to have supported Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, during the elections.

Tinubu and the party’s National Working Committee were said to have backed Senator Ahmad Lawan and Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila for the senate presidency and the speakership.

Both candidates lost to Saraki and Dogara during the elections.

Investigations revealed that the emergence of Saraki as the senate president would enable the Atiku camp to take control of the party’s National Executive Committee.

The Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives are members of the NEC.

Tinubu is believed to be in control of the party’s NWC as many of its members are said to be close to him.

The contest for the control of the BOT is still open to the two camps.

The media aide to Tinubu, Mr. Sunday Dare, could not be reached on the telephone as it indicated that it was switched off while a text message sent to his telephone was not replied to as of press time.

But a close associate of Akande, Mr. Adelani Baderinwa, told one of our correspondents that he was not aware that the former governor of Osun State was being nominated to be the chairman of the BOT of the ruling party.

Baderinwa, who was the former chief press secretary of Akande when he was the governor, spoke on the telephone with our correspondent in Osogbo on Friday.

He, however, said his former principal had everything needed to function very effectively in the office if he was elected the BOT chairman.

He said, “Chief Bisi Akande is eminently qualified to be BOT chairman of the APC. He was a chairman of the Alliance for Democracy; he was the chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria and was the Interim Chairman of the APC.

“Before this, you will remember that he was a deputy governor and later he became the governor of Osun State.

“If you are talking about Nigeria, he knows Nigeria very well and his integrity is unquestionable and he is an experienced politician.”

When contacted, the Managing Director of the Atiku Media Office, Mr. Paul Ibe, said he was not aware that the party had announced a vacancy for the position in question.

He, however, said the former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, had all the qualities to occupy the position should the opportunity present itself.

He said, “Like I have said elsewhere before, we are not aware that the APC has thrown open the race for the chairmanship of the party’s BoT.

“But if in the wisdom of the party, it elects to appoint Abubakar as the Chairman of its BoT, the Turaki Adamawa will be amenable and well disposed to it because he is eminently qualified to offer his services to the party at that level.”

APC picks Lawan as sole candidate for senate presidency …Saraki, others boycott primaries

The All Progressives Congress on Saturday announced Senator Ahmed Lawan and Senator George Akume as sole candidates for the position of President and Deputy Senate President of the 8th Senate respectively.

This followed a primary election conducted by the National Working Committee of the APC at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

National Secretary of the Party, Mala Buni, who served as returning officer announced that 33 Senators were accredited to vote after which Lawan got 32 votes and one vote was declared invalid.

Buni said, “By the powers conferred on me by the NWC of the APC as the Chief Returning Officer of this election after having certified that Dr. Ahmed Lawan has fulfilled all the requirements of the party, he is hereby nominated as the sole candidate of the party for the position of Senate President of the 8th Senate.”

A similar procedure was adopted in the election of Akume. Akume got 32 out of the 33 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Lawan said while he was grateful for the confidence reposed in him by the party and his colleagues, he was saddened that his colleagues “in the other camp” did not participate in the process.

He pleaded with the NWC to assist him in winning over all other senators in the National Assembly because he would require their support not only to win on Tuesday but also to provide leadership at the legislative arm of the government.

RomanceSpot The Difference by Larryjay4u(op): 9:27pm On Jun 06, 2015
Spot the difference

One of the biggest mistakes couples find themselves struggling with is the mistake of libidoral identity. This is simply the inability to spot physical, emotional and sensual differences in partners that enhance sexual enjoyment. All things being equal; ideally a typical enlightened, well educated and happy couple should at least have sex 200 times in a year or close to such, which means on the average, couples should have sex four times in a week or thereabout. But ironically, the national opinion research centre reports that average couples have sex just 66 times in a year. Even married couples under age 30 say they have sex on an average of 109 times in a year as compared to 368 times that it should be. The average number drops to 90 times per year for 40-something years and 72 times a year for people in their 50s. One of the major reasons for this is the inability to spot or discover these difference and explore or deploy them.

PoliticsBuhari Leaves For G7 Summit In Germany by Larryjay4u(op): 9:14pm On Jun 06, 2015
Buhari leaves for G7 summit in Germany

President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Nigeria on Sunday morning for Germany.

According to a statement on Saturday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President will be traveling to Germany to attend the G7 Summit that is scheduled to take place in Bavaria from June 7 to 8, 2015.

Shehu said invitation to the summit was extended to Buhari by German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, before he was inaugurated as President on May 29.

“The invitation is a clear indication of the international community’s willingness to cooperate with the new government of Nigeria,” the presidential spokesman said.
He, however, explained that Buhari would not be participating in the main meetings, since Nigeria is not a member of the G7 group.
He added, “He (Buhari) is in a group of seven other Heads of State who were called in as guests.
“He will equally be holding key side meetings with some of the seven Heads of State at the summit.

I believe you will benefit greatly from checking out the link below and check out the topics that will be of help;

http://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/couples-parents/

nickibarb:
Please help me. I'm drowning.

I am feeling very depressed right now. My marriage has been mainly peaceful and chaos free. I did my part, cared for my husband, cooked for him, was available to satisfy his sexual needs 24/7, prayed for him, dressed like I did when we were dating, kept my body in tiptop shape even after 2 babies via c/s, everyone around me testifies to that both men and women.

In the wee hours of sunday morning, I was playing around with his phone cause i couldn't sleep. I realised he had WHATSAPP and BBM apps, it was surprising cause I had tried to get him to download them repeatedly so we can send pics to each other but he refused. He said he wasn't interested in them, so I deleted mine. Like every curious cat, I wanted to see what he was up to on it since he didn't tell me that he had finally downloaded it.

I saw that he had been flirting with almost 10 different girls, had met up with some, given money to a lot of them (even though our finances have not been in tiptop shape, but i've been persevering cause I know it is temporary - I have a great job offer with a N200k salary post-nysc but they are not ready for me to resume work yet, so I have no income for now). Before I digress too much, the chat that hurt me the most was a girl who asked my husband to be sending her N30k a month or week, i'm not sure again (my eyes were blurred with tears), and then whenever he needs her, he should just tell her which hotel to check into. Funny enough, they all know he is married with kids, they even ask him about his baby in the course of their chat. Another one that broke my heart was a girl he asked to arrange 15 girls for a political event being hosted by his older politician friend and the girls should be ready to provide TLC for them afterwards. From the messages, it was clear that he slept with this particular girl after that event because she reminded him that the money she received is not a replacement for the one he is supposed to give her (i'm guessing after a previous sexcapade).

I am so heartbroken, I don't know what to do. I feel like I gave my marriage my all, I followed all the rules of a good wife, I read books, i don't know what I could have done differently. My husband told me everyday how much he was in love with me for the 2 years we dated prior to marriage (we've been married 2 years and 6 months). I saw no trait of promiscuity in him. I trusted him 100% so I never policed him concerning his whereabouts (it's not really in my nature to be like that). I never saw this betrayal coming so it has been very difficult for me to deal with this. I had an emotional breakdown on sunday night when he went for a meeting with the new governor of our state (he is related to him). He came home at midnight to see me unconscious. I woke up in a hospital, apparently I had overdosed on pills. At that time, I wanted to die to get away from my life, but now I didn't die, i'm happy he came home in time to rescue me. I mean he could have easily stayed out all night because it was a special day (post-inauguration celebration). I don't know how I could have thought of leaving my two little kids less that 2 years old. This man has made me CRAZY. If my family hears about this suicidal attempt, they will make me leave him immediately. My fear is, what happens to my little kids, I don't want another woman to come and maltreat them. We were legally married but not in Nigeria. I don't know if Nigerian courts would recognise our marriage certificate. I don't want to lose my kids. I feel like God has allowed a trial too great for me to handle to come my way. I feel like he over-rated my strength. I am just 27. Isn't it too soon for me to face this kind of life challenge? God knows I married this man out of love, not for money, my parents tried their best for me. They sent me abroad, that's where I met my husband, I didn't even know his family in Nigeria was relatively well-to-do. Some people say if your husband cheats on you, it's nemesis for what you did to other women's husbands. God knows I am innocent. I have tried to find out why my husband who says he loves me everyday, will go out of his way to flirt with girls and sleep with them, (it's not like it's all of them that are coming on to him, he is actually doing most of the chasing). He cannot give me a reason for it, he is just begging me to let it go. I have tried but I'm still hurting, i'm still obsessing about it. How can I heal? I don't want to die and leave my children. How can I stop this pain that is eating me up?

I have read all the articles I can find online about how to get past a cheating husband, it doesn't seem to help. I asked my husband if he used a condom and if I need to go and check for STDs. He is not able to answer me directly but says we can both go and get checked out. I feel like God has forsaken me and I don't deserve it. I have tried to be a good girl all my life. I need this pain in my heart to stop. I need to be sane again.
