I first watched her in "iris" and I wasn't impressed. Then came "my princess". I dint say she's not tryn, she is but (how will I put it now) "she is getting there(still not there yet).
There are a lot of actresses(even actors) I had the same problem with but I will mention Park min young. Trust me,I dint even like her before. watched City hunter and wasn't impressed with her acting. same goes to Dr jin,skk scandal but she really brought her A-game in healer. I was convinced thoroughly that she has finally become a true actress (I think ppl noticed it too).
Ku hye-sun(blood,BOF) she still hasn't impressed me.

Lmao, but wait oh, whats your real reason for watching korean dramas, is it to look for flaws to criticize or to be entertained? I've seen the works of those actresses you mentioned, but i still don't see anything wrong with their acting. Ku hye sun can't act? Did you also criticize her for wining the maximum of six awards for bof? The only thing i noticed in bof was that she and LMH don't have any chemistry, aside that she is a good actress. I'm not her fan so it's improper to say i'm defending her.

To me: before i goggled her, loved her and became her fan, i've had no problems with her acting, i only knew about her acting criticisms when i goggled her, and seriously it was shocking to me. After that i even became more curious about her and did more research, and i found out that she really does love acting and she is trying her best to get recognised, not only for her beauty or school achievement but for acting as well.
She can make so much money from cfs alone but to her, acting is more like an obligation, as if she really needs to do it.
When she acted her first drama, she said she started getting even more interested in acting and then after 2004, people started criticizing her acting, she felt really sad and embarassed, she decided to work hard, but no matter how much she tried, whether she acted it well or not, she still gets flak for her acting.
She did accept that such comments won't change about her, but hopefully if it does, for now she just have to live with it.
Trully it breaks my heart when i read such negative comments, but now those comments are just so funny to read because even though yong pal isn't all that great, one can't deny she did showcased YJ's character to the fullest.
So if you look at where i'm coming from, you can see that she's really trying to be recognised, even though i, my sister and friends don't see anything wrong with her acting, i can say from my non-expert point of view that KTH can act and she deserves any award given to her.
I joined soompi so i can share my thoughts about her with others who like and appreciate her like me. I only joined nairaland for korean dramas, reading thoughts about dramas made me more interested in this forum, because i was surprised when i discovered this thread, so i've been a silent reader, sometimes i read some posts here and laugh, but reading the comments here these few days did spoil my mood, and i broke my silence and post something.
Though is okay for everyone to voice their opinions, but think of others like me, who disagree with it, thats one of the reason why i don't criticize, because i know i'm not a better judge and no is either, I'ld rather say it to myself. I don't think i'll visit here after today, i should just stay at soompi instead.
I'm a talkative, so sorry for my long post.

I hope KTH gets more wins at sbs drama awards, so that her haters will boil even more and continue to attack her from all angles. It's so funny reading the comments here and those blogs posted above. KTH is just so good at making people boil right from her debut. Koreans are even funnier, today they'll praise her beauty, intelligence, scandal free and respectful image, tomorrow they'll flak at her acting/dramas, she may have this love hate relationship with her countrymen, so such comments at netizenbuzz are not new to me.

Congratulations to kim tae hee unni for wining the top excellence award for best actress in a drama. She definitely DESERVE it, she did acted yeo jins character to the fullest, i never got bored watching her perfomance, it was flawless, same goes for joo won. Congrats to yong pal scriptwriter too, he also did a great job. Dunno about others who won, congrats to them aswell.
@ellab, everybody who won deserve it. Because people whom you thought would win didn't win does not mean others who won don't deserve it, even i was hoping for joo won to win, but he didn't. And the awards were based on votes not popularity, or judges.

Yes it's interesting, but you will enjoy it best if you don't read spoilers and negative comments. Watching it to your own understanding is the best way to enjoy the drama while it's still airing, like i did with yong pal.

everybody have his/her own preference, and i never said you were hating on the drama, i only said that lack of understanding made some hated the drama, some having mixed reaction, still yet some fully satisfied.
Speaking of the romance, i felt it was too fast, but i also felt that maybe thats what the writer intended from the start. Come to think of it, what would you want the writer to use aside romance when YJ came out of her prison? Frienship? I don't think so, since the plot would even slow down to the point of boredom. Revenge? YJ's body was athrophied. Then again, YJ plotting in the hospital disguised as someone else? DJ is bound to find out.

I'm not defending the drama, but because the story didn't go as you wanted, does not mean the story losts it's potential. The writer cannot please everyone.

I don't think Yongpal's ending is lame. Lack of understanding made some people hate this drama, some ended up having mixed reaction, while some was fully satisfied with the ending.
Yeo jin's revenge made her cold, even tae hyun couldn't bear with it and he left her. She thought she was strong enough to fight those crocodiles surrounding her, but when nobody is on her side, she was outnumbered. Assuming tae hyun never left her in the first place, i can imagine her to be a strong person till the end, but that wasn't the case. The moment he left her, she was lonely and that gave her enemies chance to get back at her, by drugging her, causing her to develope liver cancer and hallucinations.
If you look at it well, right from the start, she has been on drugs, don't you think those drugs also contribute to damaging her liver?
Anyways, hallucinations made her develope aphasia as well. One can learn a lot from the drama and i don't need to name them.
You can also read the recap, just goggle the drama recap. Don't read the one at dramabeans, it's misleading as well, read the one at dramajjang recapped by kwon.
