I think it is time I address Rohr's statement of Iheanacho out of form. Yes we have put up some good victories under Rohr but I have not been overwhelmed with his pattern of play and youth development. His negative approach to the game has been a draw back not only to the team but to some individual players.

The so called regressing started in the game against South Africa which we lost two nil. It will be pictured as Nacho not playing well and could jot muster a target. In that game, another promising talent from our age grade football who was lighting Austria with goals, Kayode came in and flopped. We also saw the birth of another promising age grade talent, Osimhen come in and despite a good game could not have the fire to help the team.

Did Nacho play poorly in that game? No. However the tactical drawbacks of Rohr hindered a blistering performance. Despite Nacho making repeated good runs, with Mikel not in the side, we could not give some good passes to give us goals.

Rohr did nothing to stop the repeated wasted passes and at the end the criticism fell on Nacho and not his innate tactics to move Iwobi to the midfield to supply the passes.

Now we have Rohr setting up the team negatively and talking loss of Nacho's form and confidence.

Rohr should grow some balls to set up the team to bring the best in players. Despite Musa due to his insane work rate, none of the promising forwards have come close to their potential.

Remember how poor Mikel looked at Chelsea under Mourinho. Many criticised Mikel but it was the system that held Mikel back. Playing under a better system under the tutelage of Guus Hiddink, Mikel Obi was a different and brilliant player. The same player who was poor looked too quality just because of playing in an ideal system.

Former Liverpool midfield enforcer, and now television analyst, Graeme Souness said after the Crystal Palace win, “I don't think I've ever seen John Obi Mikel play so well. He bossed that area.”

Rohr might talk of confidence and form. I will still hammer on his system clipping the wings of the Super Eagles.
