PoliticsAPC Has Failed, Says SDP Presidential Candidate by leethebee(op): 10:13pm On Jan 10, 2023
The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Adewale Ebenezer Adebayo has declared that he will rate the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government “F” (for fail) and absent in some other sectors.

He stated this in Kano while addressing newsmen on Tuesday preparatory to its oncoming presidential rally in the state.

He stated that there is widescale criminality in the government in areas of Taxation, Banking, sales of crude oil amongbothers.

He called on Nigerians to come out enmass to fight what he described as the two dragons, referring to poverty and insecurity in the country by voting rightly.

“Nigerians should know that Nigeria is not for those who come to say is the tirn of the north, or is the turn of the south, or the turn of Christians or the turn of Muslims bit the turn of Nigerians themselves that want to fight property and insecurity.

“The policy of the time should be founded by the needs of the time” he stated

Also addressing the Kano chapter of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), he talked about the need for honesty in fighting corruption and not acting.

He stated that the fight against corruption should start from the houses of those who are fighting it and lead by example.

He explained that even at the time of ones campaign, he cannot be funded by corrupt individuals and claim that he is going to fight corruption.

“If the policies of late Ahmadu Bello were like those of Buhari today, he would probably be somewhere rearing cattle. But he was taken to school by the government, educated and taken to the military and today he is in the Aso Rock.

“That is why we need those policies that will eradicate hardship and poverty among the people by providing access to affordable and good education. He said.

PoliticsEdo Is The Most Obidient State In Nigeria – Arigbe-osula by leethebee(op): 2:23pm On Jan 09, 2023
Emmanuel Arigbe-Osula was a close political associate of Muhammadu Buhari when they were both in the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP. His elevated position in the party as one time Deputy Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, especially brought him close and caused him to in his own way work for the emergence of Buhari as president.

Almost eight years after, Arigbe-Osula is full of regrets but has not given up hope and is now pressing full throttle for Peter Obi asserting that he is the only one among the prominent presidential candidates with the potential of reversing the rot he claims is the legacy of the Buhari/APC administration.

Politics‘stop Disgracing Yourselves,’ Kwankwaso To Obasanjo, Clark For Endorsing P.O by leethebee(op): 8:24am On Jan 05, 2023
Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso has knocked elder statesmen former President Olusegun Obasanjo and leader of the leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Edwin Clark over their public endorsement of Obi for the 2023 presidential elections.

Kwankwaso noted that it was wrong for any person, who is considered a statesman to go about endorsing candidates ahead of the February 25 presidential election in Nigeria.

The former Kano State governor made this assertion on Wednesday in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

He said, “I want to advise our leaders: they should stop disgracing themselves. We have so much respect for them. If you say you don’t like me, no problem.”

Kwankwaso was hosted by Governor Godwin Obaseki at the Government House ahead of his presidential campaign flag off in the state.

However, the NNPP presidential candidate insisted that these endorsements were based on religious and ethnic sentiments and have no effect on the electorate, who, according to him, are a lot wiser now.

Kwankwaso said, “Some of the people supporting and endorsing Mr A or Mr B, I think it is a big mistake. These are leaders I respect. There is a time in your life when you become real statesman, not a politician.

“I can tell you also that any candidate or party that comes out with the face of ethnicity or the issue of religion, that party, that candidate, I can assure you, has failed that election before it starts.”

Recall that in the last three days, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has been endorsed by Obasanjo and Clark.

Obi’s endorsement has obviously sparked reactions from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

PoliticsEbonyi People, Not Umahi, Will Determine Next Governor — PDP by leethebee(op): 4:21pm On Jan 04, 2023
A Peoples Democratic Party chieftain in Ebonyi State, Chief Abia Onyike, yesterday said Ebonyi people will determine who will succeed Governor David Umahi, and not the incumbent Governor himself.

He claimed Umahi has realised that residents of the state have rejected his ‘self-imposed’ candidate, adding, “Governor Umahi recently resorted to casting aspersions on the candidates of opposition political parties in the state.”

The PDP stalwart was reacting to a statement credited to Governor Umahi, who, last week, said he was not supporting the governorship candidate of the party, Chief Ifeanyi Odii, whom he described as a political neophyte.

Abia, a former Commissioner for Information in the state, said this in a statement, on Wednesday.

According to him, “We are rather flaggerbasted that up till this moment, Governor David Umahi has continued to take Ebonyians for granted after his disastrous 8-year tenure which will soon expire in the next five months. It is now self-evident that Umahi had ruined the fortunes of the young state and is about to bequeath a horrible legacy of maladministration which has resulted in the abject poverty and hopelessness of the citizenry.

“This unenviable profile resulted from Governor Umahi’s strange and autocratic leadership style wherein the institutions of state were personalised and privatised just as Government policies were implemented without due process and in utter disregard for extant rules and regulations of the public service. Administrative recklessness bred lawlessness and political brigandage which in turn fuelled uncontrollable communal disturbances and wanton destruction of lives and properties in the state. Ebonyi state has known no peace since Gov Umahi mounted the saddle of Governance in 2015 because of his divide-and-rule tactics.

“After leading the state on this regrettable and inglorious path of self-inflicted destruction, Governor Umahi is not yet satisfied. He is now intoxicated with power and wants to carry his luck too far. He usurped the powers of the vital organs of his party, the All Progressives Congress(APC) by imposing his surrogate, Hon. Francis Nwifuru as the sole candidate, a public pronouncement he made during a funeral ceremony in Okposo, in Ohaozara LGA several months before the party primaries.

“Having realised that Ebonyians have rejected his self-imposed candidate, Governor Umahi recently resorted to casting aspersions on the candidates of opposition political parties in the state. His incoherent aspersions on the person of the PDP Governorship candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii is meaningless because there is nothing he can do to change the popular choice of Ebonyians and that is the beauty of democracy.

“His often quoted comments on candidates he would have preferred as opposed to others who eventually emerged from the party primaries tends to project him as an anti-democratic element who works hard to undermine the unity and solidity of the political parties positioning to take over power in the 2023 general elections. Umahi is talking as if he has the constitutional powers and privileges to determine those who will succeed him.

“The fact of the matter is that Ebonyians have resolved to regain their political freedom by taking steps to rescue the state from a further slide into destruction and destitution. Ebonyians are moving en-mass through the instrumentality of the forthcoming elections to recover the governance of the state from Umahi’s failed experiments.

“The people of Ebonyi state today are geared towards enthroning a new leadership based on capacity, antecedents and proven track records. Wherever the leader comes from has become immaterial at the moment. Umahi must respect the will of the people.

“Ebonyians have come to realize that Gov Umahi himself constitutes the problem of the state and any candidate he supports for the 2023 elections stands to be rejected by the people of the state. Herein lies Gov Umahi’s current frustration and desperation. Let him stop his grandstanding and squarely face the concrete realities of the situation on ground.”

Politics2023: Think Of Home Investment, Security, Igbo Told by leethebee(op): 11:36am On Dec 31, 2022
The Association of Igbo Town Unions, ASITU, has charged communities in it’s domain to think about home investment and homeland security as 2023 elections approach.

National President of ASITU, Chief Emeka Diwe in a statement in a Christmas message felicitated with Ndigbo on the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and on high expectations of a prosperous New Year.

He however urged Igbo communities to make critical deliberations on community development and the choices to make in next year’s general elections, noting that various deliberations driven by Presidents-General of various communities would be collated.

“I therefore welcome all our Igbo brothers and sisters who are visiting home from other parts of Nigeria and around the world. You are our pride and we urge you, not only to continue to remember and visit home often, but also to invest at home, because like we know; there is no place like home,” Diwe felicitated.

He also felicitated with the traditional institutions, the women and youths who he said are custodians of the Peoples values and culture.

“Aware that this festive season is when we organise Town Hall Meetings in our various communities to discuss issues affecting the community, state and the nation, I charge you to make security a priority in your agenda.

“The youths and indeed every individual in Igbo land, must be tasked on the slipping and sinking security situation in the South East. Our youths and all at home must be alert and those in diaspora must show deep concern in securing our environment and preserving our timeless heritage in line with our old belief in being our brother’s keepers.

“The security of life and property of the Igbo and in Igboland and everywhere must be our individual and collective business. Poverty, ignorance, youthful exuberance and adult delinquencies seem to be dictating the tunes and driving the lives of many of us. It is time to rethink and apply caution. While we call on all to remain vigilant and proactive, we also request that we focus on doing first things first and right things right.

“I also enjoin you to concentrate on topical subject matter of politics, and economy especially as the 2023 general election is around the corner. We are all aware that Igboland has become hopeless, helpless and lifeless because of constant threats to life and property, and heightened state of insecurity some of which are alleged to be self-inflicted.

“The association considers the 2023 general elections a decisive moment for Nigerians especially Ndigbo wherever they are. This is a period when we have to take our destinies in our own hands. 2023 is no doubt an opportunity for Nigerian people to reclaim Nigeria by voting for competence, capacity, capability, equity, fairness, justice, inclusiveness, proven track records, honesty, prudence and deliverable ability.

“Therefore, in your deliberations, we urge you to instill in our people the consciousness that we can only achieve more by being united and being at peace with ourselves and our neighbours and our hosts rather than singing discordant tunes. We must maintain our tested and reliable “Igwe bu Ike” philosophy in our approach to all matters, including national projects.

“Finally, please note that the outcome of your deliberations will be collated and used in taking decisions in the forthcoming Retreat/Summit of National Igbo Discourse which will soon be convoked in collaboration with Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo, the traditional institution and other stakeholders,” Diwe disclosed.

Politics2023: We’ve Not Endorsed Any Presidential Candidate — MACBAN by leethebee(op): 3:58pm On Dec 30, 2022
Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) said it had not endorsed any presidential candidate or political party in the 2023 general elections.

The National President of MACBAN, Alhaji Baba Usman-Ngelzarma, made the disclosure in an interview with Newsmen on Friday in Abuja.

He said: “First of all I will have to make clarification because there are two Miyetti Allah groups. We have the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), which is the one I represent as the National President.

” As far as my association, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria is concerned, we have not endorsed any presidential candidate.

” We are still waiting for all the presidential candidates to answer our questions on the seven- point demands we raised and presented copies of a letter containing our demands to them.

” Uptil now, we have not received any consent from any of the presidential candidates. So, until when we receive one before we begin to analyse and consider within the shortest time we have and decide whether we can endorse or not.”

Usman-Ngelzarma said that all the major political parties have not included the challenges facing the Nigerian pastoralists in their manifestos.

” I personally presented our demands to the presidential candidates of the three major political parties, it is only the Labour Party that I didn’t personally submit but I have met with some representatives of the party and submitted the letter to them.

”So, before we decide on which presidential candidate to support, we have to sit together, analyse and discuss with the congress because that is our difference with the other pastoralists association.

” We are going to show our numerical strength in this year’s elections. Whoever we agree to vote for will get a block vote.

” And whichever candidate we endorse will win the election, because we have about 16 million registered voters from the pastoralists community in Nigeria,” Usman-Ngelzarma

He said that he went through the manifestos and blueprint and didn’t see anything that has to do with the livestock.

Usman-Ngelzarma said: ” And whenever you talk of livestock in Nigeria, you are directly or indirectly talking about the Nigerian pastoralists or talking about the Fulani’s because they are the 98 per cent owners of the cows, goats and sheep in the country.

” Therefore, they are the sole suppliers of protein in the county and in fact, I think Fulanis are the largest single tribe that has the least population in this country.

“So, we are definitely a force to reckon with and we are also controlling a multi trillion naira investment because the South Western of Nigeria alone consumes 6,000 cows on a daily basis, talk less of the South East and the remaining part of the country.

” Unless we see how each of the political parties include our demands into their manifestos, we cannot make any move for now because in MACBAN, we have different political interests.”’

The MACBAN national president said that some of its members were registered members of APC,adding,”some are in PDP, Labour Party, NNPP, PRP and other political parties. In fact, there is no interest group in Nigeria that you will not find our members.

” MACBAN is not a political group but since we are in a political era and for us to advance our course under the present system of democratic government, we definitely have to participate.”

PoliticsObi Didn’t Break Any Law On Appointment Of Osuntokun As DG – Lawyer by leethebee(op): 2:47pm On Dec 30, 2022
A Constitutional Lawyer, Mr Kayode Ajulo, says the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, is in order for appointing Mr Akin Osuntokun as the Director General of his Campaign Organisation.

He said the former Managing Director of NAN was a member of the LP and was appointed as Director, South West for Obi Campaign organisation, a position he described as equivalent of a Deputy DG

He said Osuntokun’s transition to the DG Campaign organisation was a natural thing following the resignation of Dr Doyin Okupe who was also from South West Nigeria.

Ajulo said Okupe’s replacement by Osuntokun was in order because they were both from South West, stressing that Osuntokun was a veteran politician who was once the campaign Director for former President Olúsegún Óbasanjo.

He said Osuntokun was no longer a member of Zenith Labour Party since Aug. 2022, adding that he was only ZLP Senatorial Candidate.

According to him, no law in Nigeria governs the appointment of DG of any campaign platform in Nigeria, it’s simply a political appointment and what is basically required is trust and competence.

Mr Dan Nwanyanwu, the National Chairman and Presidential Candidate, ZLP in a statement, also said the controversy generated by the appointment of Osuntokun was uncalled for.

According to him Osuntokun is no longer a member of the party.

“We hold no grudges because it is his fundamental right to associate and exit from any organization.

Politics2023: Bola Tinubu Pledges To Reposition Nigeria’s Economy by leethebee(op): 9:43am On Dec 23, 2022
Bola Tinubu, the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday promised entrepreneurs that if elected he would reposition Nigeria for greater opportunities and development of its citizens.

He also promised to work towards creating and enhancing the security situation in the country to allow entrepreneurs to have an enabling environment to do their businesses.

Tinubu made the pledge at a business luncheon with business owners in Lagos.

The luncheon, entitled “Business Forward”, was held at the “Wings“ located on Victoria Island.

On the issue of fuel subsidy, he said if elected he would take bold decisions that would turn the nation’s economy around.

He said: ‘Nigeria will not continue to subsidise fuel consumption in neighbouring countries.

“How can we be subsidising fuel consumption of Cameroon, Niger, and Benin Republic? No matter how long you protest, we are going to remove the fuel subsidy.

“First, the primary responsibility of government is to protect the lives, property and prosperity of its citizens.

He said as governor of Lagos State, fixing the difficult security situation at that time was his first priority.

“Only after we secured the state and changed its reputation for the better, could we embark on the economic reforms that have ultimately produced the vibrant and active megacity of today.

“I am committed to securing Nigerians from violence and the fear of such violence, terror, kidnapping and banditry have no place in the society I envision,“ he said.

Tinubu told his audience that upon assuming office as president, he would move to implement several measures.

“We will increase the numbers of our military and non-military security forces and specialist anti-terrorist battalions would be established.

“Our Critical National Infrastructure Protection Plan will deploy aerial and ground surveillance technology to survey the most dangerous areas and secure our country’s vital national infrastructure and installations.

“We shall acquire and upgrade the tactical communications and mobility of our troops and security personnel.

“We must also devote greater attention to the care and welfare of our military and security forces who put themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe.

“In summary, our objective is to be able to out-manouvre outwit and outflank the terrorists and criminal groups. They want to defeat our democratic and good society. We shall defeat their evil one.

“As we fight insecurity, we must deal with our economy at the same time. We know that business and insecurity cannot thrive side-by-side,” Tinubu said.

He said his government would give room to allow the private sector to thrive by not interfering in their various businesses but be open for collaboration.

According to him, where the private sector is doing well, his government will not interfere.

“Our guiding principle regarding economic policy shall be to provide the right policy framework so that business can flourish.

“I want to do more than help existing businesses to exist. We must create the space where new sectors and lines of business can open.

“We must grow this economy so that it can accommodate over 200 million people with a decent standard of living.

“Part of the virtuous economic cycle we seek to create is to collaborate with the private sector to bring about massive infrastructural renewal.

“This will enhance economic opportunities, lower business cost and overheads while producing jobs that spur further growth and development through increased consumer demand,” Tinubu said.

On their part, the business entrepreneurs at the luncheon raised issues around education, healthcare development, electricity, investment climate, multiple exchange rates and prevailing oil subsidy, asking how Tinubu would deal with the challenges.

Responding, Tinubu said his aim was to develop local manufacturing and value-added businesses, deepen consumer lending, increase affordable housing and provide business owners with low-cost loans to modernise operations and improve productivity.

“We shall not be afraid to regulate wisely. We cannot allow instances like the collapse of FTX to happen here.

“We must protect businesses, consumer and investor confidence in equal proportion and improve the nation’s power sector which is critical to any economic development and strengthen the health sector,” Tinubu said

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the APC presidential candidate was joined by Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Group Chief Executive Officer of Oando Plc, Wale Tinubu and a former House of Representatives Speaker, Dimeji Bankole.

Others were former commissioners in Lagos State, Yemi Cardozo, Dele Alake and former EFCC Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu, among others.

Politics2023: APC Canada Raises Alarm Over Diaspora Impersonators by leethebee(op): 7:24pm On Dec 21, 2022
The All Progressives Congress, APC, Canada chapter has urged the party’s Presidential Campaign Council to look out for persons masquarading as diaspora representatives.

In a statement, Chairman of the party in Canada, Mr Elias Abone, said there was need for the APC to be careful in dealing with people who come into Nigeria as members and representatives of the party in various diaspora countries.

“This is an election year and already, we have reports of persons claiming to be diaspora chairman whose intentions are strictly to create internal issues for our great party.

“APC chances in the 2023 presidential poll is very high such that opposition parties will want to create issues including using impersonators to infiltrate it’s ranks,” he said.

Abone alleged that representatives of APC in diaspora countries are members of the Committee of Diaspora Chairmen (APCCDC) led by Chairman APC UK Chapter, name-withheld.

“What this means is that any person or group claiming to be representing any diaspora chapter can easily be investigated.

“All diaspora chapter are seriously involved in campaigns in and from our various chapters for the APC presidential candidate, Senator Bola Tinubu and will not fold our arms, while non members infiltrate the party,” he said.

On the recent disagreements in the Canada chapter, the chairman said it has been resolved and that the executive speak with one voice.

“All our genuine members are one and remain committed to the course of ensuring that not only do we continue to project the party here in Canada but to also influence our families in Nigeria to vote for the APC.

“Whatever happened were Minot hiccups that has not in anyway affected our unity as members of the APC in Canada,” Abone said.

He, however, urged members with any grievance to always pursue it through the proper channels to uphold and maintain the integrity for which APC is known.

Abone, therefore, urged Nigerians to support the APC and all its candidates in the 2023 general elections, especially the party’s presidential candidates, explaining that Tinubu would surely be remembered as the best thing that happened to Nigeria.

Politics2023: We’ll Beat Them Silly, Tinubu Brags In Calabar by leethebee(op): 6:01pm On Dec 20, 2022
With his right fist punching the air high above his head, Senator Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has declared victory for his party ahead of the 2023 election by announcing that the APC would beat other political parties silly in the election.

Speaking in Calabar on Tuesday during a town hall meeting to engage with stakeholders of the party in Cross River State, he told the cheering crowd that he has all it takes to win and rule the country and turn it to a haven of peace and prosperity for all Nigerians.

Apparently referring to his opponents, the APC presidential candidate said: “They have no past, they have no experience, no track record, no integrity so all they do is resort to insults and abuses.

“But they don’t bug me; they know I’m from Tinubu Square. I can wrestle but I can’t wrestle with the pig.

“What is my concern is the development of Nigeria and that is what I will do as President.”

He said Nigerians all have been disappointed one way or the other but the time had come to look beyond and focus on the development of the country, which holds better history for all.

“It is our fault in this country that these past 60 years we have not made progress. But moving Nigeria forward is a task that must be done,” he declared.

He reconciled the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Senator Bassey Otu and his co-contender, Senator John Enoh.

Earlier, Senator Ben Ayade, the governor of the state, said Tinubu has been brought by God at this time of Nigeria’s political history to rescue the country.

He called on him to focus on agriculture and human development to ease the high rate of suffering and hunger in the country.

Politics2023: Tinubu Has Fulfilled All Legal Requirements To Vie For President, Says APC by leethebee(op): 11:10pm On Dec 18, 2022
The All Progressives Congress APC Presidential Campaign Council PCC has defended the eligibility of its candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to vie for president in next year’s general election, saying the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP is now clutching unto straws in the realization of the fact that it has already lost the election.

Director, Media and Publicity of the APC PCC, Mr Bayo Onanuga in a statement on Sunday in Abuja said the attention of the PCC has been drawn to a statement by one Phrank Shaibu, an Atiku Abubakar special media assistant, whose speciality appears to be muckraking.

“In another puerile move, Shuaibu challenged our candidate to give his full name and went on a journey of fantasy about his early education and parentage, matters already thrown into the dustbin decades ago.

“We were not surprised that the desperate Atiku camp, faced with mounting setbacks in its campaign, will engage in another round of mudslinging after it failed to make any capital over its amplified allegation of drug dealing against our candidate.

“This latest allegation, we must say is another attempt at shadowboxing”, he stated.

Onanuga said having failed to pull the wool over the eyes of Nigerians on its 16 years of infamous, criminal sabotage of Nigeria, in which Atiku as the overseer of the privatisation of national assets, “shortchanged our people, the PDP has just woken up to the reality that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s sure victory in the presidential election of 25 February, 2023 is inevitable. Hence this desperate resort to character assassination and innuendoes”.

He said of only the PDP would go back to its records, it would have realized that the same campaign of reckless calumny was its stock in trade in the governorship campaigns in Lagos State in 2003.

“It had also been a subject of an investigation by the Lagos State House of Assembly.

“In the 2003 election, the masses in Lagos punished the PDP for its malicious campaign and rejected the party massively at the polling booths.

“It is unfortunate that the party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar have chosen to revive a dead allegation, knowing that this election is again slipping away.

“Atiku, who once confessed he was the mastermind of the electoral assault by the PDP against the Alliance for Democracy in the 2003 election in the South West , is shamelessly back at his game, showing no contrition that the courts overturned the rigged victories.

“We however sympathise with Atiku and his mudslinging agents. We know why they are latching unto every straw available. They are seized with fear that the election is once again lost.

“With the massive turnout of the Nigerian people to welcome our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Kaduna, Minna, Abuja and other parts of Nigeria in the last one week, it is obvious that they are running after a train that has left the station.

“The Constitution of the Republic is very clear on the rights of a citizen to contest for president. Our candidate has fulfilled those conditions. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the impartial umpire has affirmed that he is qualified to run.

“But the PDP and Atiku are utterly confused and in serious disarray and running round in circles like a barber’s chair looking for what is not lost.

“A responsible party should have taken the cue from its losses. In the last two weeks, no fewer than six cases filed by proxies of the PDP on these same frivolous allegations have been thrown out by the courts.

“Yet like a fly that insists on being buried with the corpse, the media handlers of the PDP prefer to flog a dead horse.

“The over 93 million registered voters who will vote in the 2023 elections have the intellect to choose who they want as president. That man is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Yes, that is his name.

“PDP should wait for its day of Judgment rather than engage in this obscurantist, diversionary game, a game that will be determined by the Nigerian masses. We shall surely meet this party of looters at the polls next February”, the APC PCC boasted.

Politics2023: Oyo Traditionalists Endorse Tinubu For President by leethebee(op):
Traditionalists in Oyo State on Saturday threw their weights behind the aspiration of Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, to emerge the next Nigeria President in 2023.

They made their position known at a ceremony held at the Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the support from the traditionalists, drawn from every zone in the state, was coming after Muslims and Christians in the state announced their endorsement of Tinubu.

NAN reports that the programme, which had also featured several other sociocultural groups, was sponsored by Chief Dotun Sanusi, the Chief Executive Officer of Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort in Ibadan.

In his remarks, Mr Olukunmi Egbelade, the Aare Oniseese of Oyo State, said the event was not politically motivated, noting that they were after peace, unity, progress and development of Yorubaland.

Egbelade said that Yorubas would benefit a lot, if their kinsman could become the president, pointing out that it was the turn of Yorubas to be at the helms of affairs in Nigeria.

He said that the endorsement of Tinubu was necessary for victory of the APC candidate, who according to him, is a leading candidate in the election.

Egbelade urged Tinubu to declare a nationwide holiday for the traditional worshippers across the nation after his emergence.

Also, Chief Kazeem Omotosho, a traditionalist, said there should be no set back for Yorubas in the forthcoming elections, adding that Yorubas hold strategic positions in Nigeria politics.

“Some people believe we are not educated, they say we don’t know God, but we believe in God than them. Most of the pastors and Muslim clerics pass through us,” Omotosho said.

Earlier, Sanusi said that the motive behind the event was to show love and support to the APC candidate, who according to him, is a leading candidate in the forthcoming general elections.

Represented by Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, he said the congregation was aimed at ensuring that people choose the next president wisely.

He said: “Tinubu stands tall among the presidential candidates after researching their credentials.

“I am not a politician nor vying for any political post. I am a philanthropist, using my resources to cater for needs of the society.

“I am not a member of PDP or APC. I am passionate about whatever that will lead to the progress and development of Yorubaland.

“We have the problem of insecurity. We have the problem of unemployment. We have leadership problem and many more,” Sanusi said.

NAN reports that the event was attended by the Araba Awo of Ibadanland, Chief Odegbami Ifalere; Head of Eleegun in Ibadanland, Chief Oyeniyi Okugbaja and representative of Oluawo of Oyo, Adejare Ifadare among others.(NAN)

Politics2023: I Am Igbo’s Route To Presidency — Atiku by leethebee(op): 11:26pm On Dec 15, 2022
THE presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has said that he is the shortest route for the Igbo to produce President of Nigeria.

Atiku, who spoke at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, during the presidential rally of PDP in Anambra State, promised to help the Igbo produce president of the country after his tenure.

“I will be the stepping stone to actualise Igbo presidency if elected in 2023.

“I have shown it by my actions because this is the third time I will be contesting with an Igbo man as my running mate.

“If you really want to produce a President, then vote Atiku/Okowa,” he said.

He also promised to make the Onitsha Port functional if elected as president in 2023.

Atiku, who earlier paid a courtesy call on Governor Chukwuma Soludo on arrival in Awka, described the Anambra State governor, as a trusted partner he would need to move Nigeria forward if elected in 20

He said that his relationship with Soludo was beyond partisan politics, but a commitment to undertake reforms in the Nigerian economy.

Atiku added: “This is beyond party politics. There should be a consensus on how we move forward and I consider Governor Soludo as a partner in that respect.

“It is my singular respect and honour for him to receive me in the state. In spite of our different political affiliations, there should be some core values we should agree on towards the development of our country.

“I thank Governor Soludo for going beyond party politics. He didn’t shut the gate against us. We are all partners in our reform agenda as far as Nigeria is concerned.

“The Governor personally told me he was not available in the state, but had to find a way back to receive me. I thank him for the opportunity and wish for God’s blessings upon his life and upon Anambra State.”

In his speech, Soludo said development of Nigeria should be the utmost priority for any politician or candidate.

According to him, Nigeria is bigger than any political party and the business of building the country is bigger than any politician.

“In this business of building Nigeria, Anambra and Igboland should be an open place for anyone.Just give us your proposition and tell us how you will fix the country.

“I am very glad you are here to canvass for votes and I believe our people will listen carefully to every word you have to tell them.

“Our orientation is to have a level playing field for everyone. Politics is about development and we want the South-East to feel this development.

“Reconciliation and Reconstruction are what we haven’t come to terms with.

The federal highways constructed in the Shagari era are no longer motorable. My administration is already spending few billions on federal roads.

“The bottom line is that we want to change the life of the average citizen.

“Our people are all ears. We pray for you, for Nigeria and wish you the very best of luck.”

PoliticsBrain Drain: Okowa Orders Replacement Of Medical Officers On Flight Abroad by leethebee(op): 11:34pm On Dec 14, 2022
Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has given the approval to fill all the vacancies created by medical officers who resigned to seek greener pastures abroad.

The governor, stated this while addressing opening session of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting and Leadership Retreat on Wednesday in Asaba.

Okowa, however, said that improvement on emolument and working environment would reverse the preponderance of brain-drain of medical personnel from the country.

He expressed optimism that resolutions from the NEC meeting, with the theme “Doctors and Effective Leadership in the Health Sector” would also proffer more solutions to resolving the issue and others plaguing the medical profession and healthcare delivery.

According to Okowa, it is painful that people are leaving the country due to poor conditions.

“We cannot stop them, but the vacancies created by such exits should be filled.

“I have given the approval that they should be replaced so that we don’t over-labour those left behind.

“I have long given approval to the Commissioner for Health that all doctors and medical professionals who exited the services of the state should be replaced immediately.

“No doubt, the economic fortunes of a nation are closely intertwined with the status of the health of its people.

“But, to remain economically buoyant as a nation, we have to ensure that our health sector is not plagued with daunting challenges,” he said.

He added, “although we have achieved some milestones in health as a nation, the healthcare system of our country is beset with the current problem of brain-drain.

“It is worrisome that our medical doctors who are expected to provide care for those who are ill among us, are leaving the shores of our country in droves.

“I feel this is a very key issue facing us as a nation and we should look into ways of stemming this ugly tide as we will continue to lose our medical professionals to other countries abroad if urgent measures are not adopted.

“It is a national challenge, which demands the collective attention of all, and among other reasons, is especially the desire to earn more money.

”There are also some complaints about the working environment and inadequate equipment,” he said.

Okowa, who is also the Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that his administration had built new hospitals and provided modern hospital equipment to meet with current realities.

“In Delta State, we have tried to tackle some of these challenges by carrying out extensive renovations of most of our health facilities in all the three tiers of government across the state.

“In addition, we have largely replaced old, worn-out and obsolete medical equipment with new ones in virtually all the health facilities in the state.

“We have also built new hospitals; an example is Asaba Specialist Hospital, which is providing tertiary-level services in the State, including the Delta State University Teaching Hospital at Oghara.

“Others include the Advanced Diagnostics Medical Centre and Mother and Child Centre in Owa-Alero.

“Their medical equipment is state-of-the-art and these facilities will also serve as referral centres providing tertiary-level health services in the State and indeed, the entire country.

“They have been provided with all necessary amenities, including a very conducive environment and attractive working conditions for staff.

“I am proud to add that Delta State is one of the very few in the Federation to domesticate the Medical Residency Training Act of 2017 in all our health institutions where residency training is being done,” he said.

On his part, President, World Medical Association (NMA), Dr Osahon Enabulele, also called for improved emolument and conducive environment to stem the tide of medical brain drain.

He said that there was a need to have effective leadership that would address the myriad of issues confronting the health sector in the country.

Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Sam Oyovbaire, recalled the role of the NMA in the past and urged them to wake up and contribute their best to rebuild the nation’s health sector.

Also, the President, NMA, Dr Uche Ojinmah, thanked the Federal Government, Delta and other state governments for paying the new hazard allowance, adding that Delta blazed the trail in paying the new allowance and many others.

Ojinmah called on other state governments in the country that were yet to commence payment of the allowance to do so to maintain industrial harmony in their healthcare sectors.

Earlier, the Chairman of NMA in Delta, Dr Carter Okolakpa, thanked Gov. Okowa for the immense support his administration had offered the association.

He appealed to the governor to declare an emergency on the replacement of medical doctors and other healthcare workers who had left the service of the state.

In his remarks, the Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien, who was represented by Chief Chris Chukwurah, called for a strong leadership in the country that would address the challenges be-devilling all sectors of the nation

PoliticsReps Step Down Diaspora Trust Fund, Same Sex Marriage Amendment Bills by leethebee(op): 7:09pm On Dec 14, 2022
House of Representatives, Wednesday, stepped down the second reading of two bills seeking to establish Nigeria Diaspora Intervention Trust Fund and amendment for same sex act.

The development came on the heels of a heated debate mostly against the bills.

The bills were sponsored by Hon. Bamidele Salam from Osun state and Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum from Kano State respectively.

Salam in the lead debate on the general principle of the bill said the trust fund was to principally provide a framework to substantially protect the investment of Nigerians in the diaspora whose remittances ran into billions of dollars, noting that about $3.4 billion (USD) had been remitted to Nigeria’s economy by Nigerians in diaspora.

He said: “This trust fund is in existence through the initiative of the Nigerian in Diaspora Commission but it is not governed by an act of parliament and we believe very strongly that for the trust fund to be protected and for it to have the desired effect, in terms of providing a framework to protect the hard earned resources of our fellow citizens who send in their monies from the various parts of the world into this country.

“Provide a framework that can provide them technical support in terms of where they can invest their money and ensure that they are protected from the unwholesome activities of some Nigerians locally, who take advantage of the fact that Nigerians in diaspora are not around and they may not have the way of putting their eyes on their investments to dupe them of their hard earned resources.

“We decided to have a framework which put together a body of honest Nigerians, to offer this support to Nigerians in diaspora; number one it will encourage them to remit more of their money to the Nigerian economy and two, it will also provide this economy with the needed benefit of having the best value for the money that is being remitted.”

But no sooner had Salem finished than Hon. Gboluga Ikengboju from Ondo state opposed the bill, saying what was needed to protect Nigerians in the diaspora was not establishment of a trust fund but strong laws and institutions.

“Funds don’t give our people in diaspora that protection. What we need to protect their interest, their investment in Nigeria is strong and formidable laws and institutions that will protect their interest.

“We quite agree that most of our people in the diaspora could fall victim to some of the manipulative tendencies of fraudulent people in Nigeria. So, the question to ask Mr. Speaker is this trust fund going to guarantee the security and interest of Nigerians in diaspora? My answer is if we interrogate this need to establish trust fund is no,” he said.

In her contribution also, Hon. Lynda Ikpeazu from Anambra state said that the House can not legislate on all matters, stressing that the bill was more of private sector.

“If the diasporans decide that they want to invest in Nigeria, I think it is a personal decision that they investigate and make informed decisions as to where they want to invest. I don’t believe that the legislation is necessary.

“We legislate on everything and that is dangerous. The idea of this fund should be something that should be left to private individuals and it is not something that we should sit in this hallowed chambers and make a legislation on”, she said.

In the same vein, Hon. Ossai Nicholas Ossai urged the sponsor of the bill to step it down for lack of merit.

“Let’s look at merits of this bill. The history of trust fund is intervention on institution established by law to cure certain defects in implementation of such laws.

“I don’t see any need for this trust fund because it is vague, it does not cure anything. I call on the proponent of this bill to step it down. Mr speaker this bill should be dropped,” Ossai said.

On his part, the deputy minority leader of the House, Toby Okechukwu requested for the “economics” of the bill from the sponsor.

“I think what is germane is for Salem to brief us on the economics of this bill. Where are the accruals going to come from? Is it from government? Is it from those in diaspora or is it a matter of willingness or is it going to be taxed so that there should be clarity on what we are to do and for what purpose that fund would be meant for? Who is going to manage it? If he lays that to rest, we will be able to take a decision on it,” he said.

Aggregating the opposing views, Salem decided to step down the bill.

“In view of apparent lack of sufficient information on this bill, I want to move that I have the leave of the House to step down this bill”, he said.

Ruling on the bill, the deputy speaker, Hon. Ahmed Wase said the sponsor of the bill should have followed the direction of the argument to step down the bill for long.

“This is what you would have done ab initio. When you hear colleagues moving to a particular direction, it is only wise to move to the direction or take the wisdom behind their own solutions. So second reading of the bill stepped down by the leave of the House,” Wase said.

In a relationship development, the House also stepped down the second reading of a bill for an act to amend Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, 2013 to Prohibit Cross Dressing; and for Related Matters.

The sponsor of the bill, Muda Lawal Umar in his lead debate faulted the idea same sex marriage which to him prompted the idea of cross dressing, saying it was foreign to Nigeria.

But hardly had he started reading the details of the bill than the deputy speaker, Wase advised the sponsor to withdraw the bill, asking him to study the culture of Nigerians first.

“I think you need to work further. Understand the differences and diversity in this country. My take is that you step down this bill for further instructions”, he ruled, necessitating the stepping down of the bill.

However, shortly after, the airport tower signal went off. It was gathered that an aircraft which was about to land could not land and was forced to turn back.

It was gathered that the staff received instructions to shut down the facility at exactly 5:30pm, claiming that there was no request for an extension of time by the PDP.

Some PDP members alleged that this could have been politically motivated with a member of the PDP, Justice Abraham accusing the All Progressives Congress, APC of foul play.

Dutch substitute Wout Weghorst scored two late goals, including a stoppage-time leveller, after Argentina had led 2-0 through Nahuel Molina and Lionel Messi’s penalty.

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was Argentina’s hero in the shootout, saving two spot-kicks as they won 4-3 on penalties.

Politics2023: APC States Denying Us Use Of Public Facilities, PDP Campaign Cries Out by leethebee(op): 8:09pm On Dec 09, 2022
The Presidential Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party has raised the alarm over the growing trend among states controlled by the ruling All Progressives Congress, to deny it access to public space for campaigns.

Director of Strategic Communication of the campaign, Otumba Dele Momudu, raised the alarm at a media briefing, in Abuja, on Friday.

He expressed regret that this was happening in a democracy which is supposed to be a market place of ideas and alternative opinions.

Momudu said, “In practically all APC controlled states, It’s been virtually impossible for us to intall our billboards to paste our posters, use APC government controlled radio stations, especially in Lagos where the candidate of the APC is seen as next to God.

“So, I wish to appeal through you to the federal government since they control the APC, that this is not what democracy is all about.

“I was one of those who fought and suffered for this democracy. We never envisaged that in the civilian regime, we are going to have this kind of harassment, whereby we cannot practice democracy as it should be done.

“In 2014 2015, I was one of those who supported Buhari, and there was never a time that PDP disturbed us because if they had disturbed us, maybe there would have been no Buhari.

“We are hoping that Mr. president would help us speak to the security agencies, to protect the lives of our people, to protect our properties wherever they are on the soil of Nigeria, because we are all Nigerians.”

The Director noted that the Atiku campaign has over the last couple of weeks demonstrated how prepared the candidate is for the task of providing leadership for the county.

He said, “People can see the clear difference between His Excellency Atiku Abubakar and the other challengers.

“It’s very clear that he is the most experienced, the most detribalized, he doesn’t go anywhere discriminating against anyone, he is prepared
.

“Nigeria can’t afford another sad experiment or experimentation, because if you are not prepared, that is what will happen. He knows what to do from day one.

“There is no doubt in my mind right now that PDP is in the lead when it comes to campaigning. When it comes to positive messaging, the others I will not say they are in disarray but they are struggling.

“PDP is clearly in the lead. PDP is a very responsible political party. We are the most organized political party and that is why if you have monitored or if you have followed our rallies, you would have noticed that they are usually carnivals, carnivals of ideas, carnivals of issues.”
Condemns attack on Sen. Maeba’s PH residence

The Campaign also condemned the attack on the Port-Harcourt residence of Senator Lee Maeba, one of Atiku’s campaign coordinators in Rivers State by yet to be identified thugs.

Momodu said, “Even the National Security Adviser last week, came out and he said that the President has clearly instructed them to do ruthlessly with troublemakers.

“We all know all the trouble spots. I’m surprised that after the President gave the instruction, some people still attacked the home of Senator Lee Maeba.

“The brother was told while he was being macheted, that if Senator was home, one bullet would have solved the problem.

“Yes, there are internal issues within PDP but that should not result in bloodshed. So those who are involved. I don’t want to apportion blame because I’m not a security agent.

“I have no facts of the case. And it’s even possible we could have been an opportunistic attack from anywhere we don’t know. So we appeal to our party members in reverse to cool temper.“

In a separate media address, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Debo
Ologunagba, expressed the party’s displeasure with threats contained in the speech of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu to his supporters in London.

Ologunagba said, “When someone begins to take politics as war I think is condemnable.

“You will recall only two days ago, there is a viral video from the presidential candidate of the APC who said ‘Political power is not going to be served in a restaurant, you did not serve it alar cate, it is wicked, weird, it is being determined, you do it at all cost, you fight for it, snatch it, grab it and run with it.‘

“That is not what Nigerians want, what Nigerians want is for you to bring the ideas, debate the ideas, let the people decide, dont run for it and what he has done now is to begin to instigate violence and say to his people, go ahead grab it by all means and this is consistent with this pattern over the years.

“You will recall in 2019 in Lagos, it started with a threat ‘if you dont vote for the APC we will throw you into the lagoon’ that is fresh in our memory.“

PoliticsLabour Party Promises To Give Nigerians N80,000 Minimum Wage by leethebee(op): 9:10pm On Dec 08, 2022
The Labour Party has promised to implement a minimum wage of N80,000-N100,000 if its presidential candidate, Peter Obi wins next year’s presidential election.

The party’s Deputy National Chairman, Ayo Olorunfemi disclosed this during Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday.

Olorunfemi said the party was planning to increase the current minimum wage from N30,000 to the range of N80,000 and N100,000 while making a case for hourly paid jobs as outlined in their manifesto.

A few days ago, the LP unveiled its manifesto where Obi pushed for the payment of hourly wages as against the current monthly arrangement in the country.

The LP chieftain said if a worker receives about N1,000 per hour in a job, he can boast of nothing less than N4,000 in a day, and this can make the employee earns between N80,000 and N100,000 depending on the nature of the job.

Who will win the 2023 Presidential Election? BET NOW on www.naijabet.com

“It depends on the nature of the job that would be given out. For instance, when you take a cursory look at the manual labourer out there, he does not take less than N2,500-N3,000 per day which is still not okay as far as the reward system is concerned. If you divide N3,000 by six hours, you will be talking about N500 per hour,” Olorunfemi said.

“So, when you benchmark that against what we have now, certainly, you would be talking of something within the range of N500-N1,000 per hour depending on the nature of work, and at the end of the day, someone can effectively say that he can make up to N4,000 in a day. And when you multiply N4,000 in a day by 20 or 25, we are talking about N80,000 or N100,000 in a month.”

When asked to further clarify his comment, the LP chieftain maintained that the party is eyeing “N80,000-N100,000” as a new monthly minimum wage, noting that “that is exactly where we are going!”

Olorunfemi said the present N30,000 minimum wage does not reflect the realities of the sweat of the Nigerian workers, adding that the Labour Party would ensure the new wage structure is implemented if the party wins next year’s polls at the centre.

“As a matter of fact, you know the amount of oil in the name of oil theft that has been leaving this country,” Olorufemi added. “We know where these things are coming from. They say there is no money but we know these monies have been stashed in the rooms or toilets of a few persons.”

Politics2023: Minister, Others Decry Violence Against Women In Politics by leethebee(op): 4:39pm On Dec 07, 2022
Ahead of the 2023 elections, the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Sharon Ikeazor, has decried the recent upsurge in the spate of violence against women in the political arena.

She spoke at a national dialogue with security and political stakeholders on violence against women in politics organised by the Women in Politics Forum (WIPF) in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to her, the menace of gender-based violence in politics is becoming a deciding factor of women’s political participation in Nigeria.

She blame lack of prosecution of perpetrators of gender-based violence in politics for the rose in cases; noting that she had also been a victim of grave violence in her years as a politician.

While making reference to the killing of the Women Leader of the Labour Party (LP) in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mrs. Victoria Chintex by gunmen, the minister said: “When I experienced my first political violence, I was lucky that we had policemen around who were able to rescue me but after that, I never took chances. So every woman here, please never take chances when you go out there, have a second layer of clothing under your rapper. I learnt that as a tomboy, and it helped me in politics.

“Then at the end of my rapper, I tie my pepper spray. You have to defend yourself. I distributed pepper spray to our women when we were all active in politics. I remember the incident of a lady in Kaduna, when she was attacked by her party chairman and some other men, it was the pepper spray she deployed. That was what saved her.

The minister while lamenting that the issue had been largely ignored, urged security agencies to ensure that perpetrators are caught security agencies to investigate and prosecute perpetrators of violence against female politicians, or “else, our women will continuously be at risk as their lives are offered at the altar of politics with no repercussions.”

In the same breath, a human rights lawyer, Frank Tietie, urged the international community to place a travel ban on Nigerian leaders, especially state governors and other senior public officials who failed to prevent and prosecute those perpetrating violence against female politicians

Tietie, who also is the executive director of Citizens Advocacy for Social and Economic Rights (CASER), said the failure of state governors and other elected public officials to protect female politicians against violence make them complicit in the act.

Also making reference to the assassination of the Labour party women leader in Kaduna, the legal practitioner urged governor Nasir El-Rufai to return from his trip in the United Kingdom (UK), and ensure that perpetrators of the dastardly acts are brought to book.

PoliticsTinubu Dominates Presidential Campaigns – Patriots Roundtable by leethebee(op): 11:22am On Dec 06, 2022
The Patriots Roundtable, on Tuesday, said that the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu remains the dominant issue in the 2023 presidential campaigns adding that he has worked hard for his towering political magnification.

Director-General of the group, Prince Uthman Shodipe -Dosunmu, in a statement titled ‘Tinubu : Beyond Chatham’, urged other presidential candidates to campaign with ideas, with visionary candor and commitment to nation building.

The statement reads: “Now that Chatham has gone and gradually being subsumed by other matters, we may now return to the persistent, unyielding reality : the fact that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the most dominant issue in this presidential campaign. We acknowledge this much with all sense of humility and riveting approbation.

“When a presidential candidate is the pivot of manufactured malice, when the candidate is the subject of untidy and undeserved opprobrium, when the candidate is the conjured ogre haunting the conscience of malignant characters- it is safe to attest that the candidate is of immense political value and importance that the nay-sayers find it convenient to pull down.

“In truth, Tinubu has worked hard for his towering political magnification. He has earned his reputation and national stamp of political veneration from endless , untiring support for others ; from his instinctive willingness to groom a multifarious gallery of lieutenants, mentoring , graduating a powerful array of mentees into the highest acme of power in our nation and far beyond.

“From the stretches of the howling desert of Jigawa to the mangroves of the Delta , from the Sudanian Savanna of Bauchi to the forest and the hills of Ondo, from Ekiti to the shores of the Atlantic in Lagos- Tinubu, like Tennyson tells us , has become a name.

“Intrinsic in the Tennysonian affirmation is the kindling of a stout heart, the stubborn, unyielding commitment to a good cause, the unfailing creative ardor, the powerful visionary steadfastness, unbowed and unbowing before the slings of hate and animadversion.

“Pray how many men can absorb the thronging barrage of calumny , the callous spate of hate, the crude eructation of venom without crumbling and folding up?

“We do believe that there is a guiding star in all our firmament. We do agree that everyone is defined ultimately in some unfathomable womb of Heaven that none can alter.

“As the days roll by and the election draws nearer , destiny beckons for Asiwaju. More often, power is thrust upon those who seek it not. For 22 years Tinubu has been much comfortable behind the scene galvanizing others to the upper echelon of power. He is now drafted by fate to contest for the greatest office in the land. If it is God’s willing, no mortal can alter this recourse.

“Let others campaign with ideas, with visionary candor, with commitment to nation building and service rather than mingling in the dirty pool of calumny. Malice does not win elections. Planning, legacy, selfless commitment to the nation invariably decide the path to victory.

“Tinubu keeps stomping from Abuja to Chatham and far beyond the furthest reaches of partisan extent in a grueling, exhausting and even punishing campaign , focused on the ultimate trophy, illuminating his ideas within the grip of fate, indifferent to the concourse of scurrility, steadfast and determined sure on the defined path.”

PoliticsNasarawa: We ‘ll Not Allow Sule Stunt Our Growth – NNPP by leethebee(op): 11:32pm On Dec 05, 2022
GOVERNORSHIP candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Yakubu Abdullahi Maidoya has warned electorates against returning the APC led government in Nasarawa state, saying they will not allow the state to be taken back in 2023.

Maidoya said this when he appeared before journalists to unveil his plans for the state if elected as the governor in 2023.

“We cannot continue to accommodate a governor and a government that would only construct and commission motor park and market in three years.” He said

He promised that if elected, the NNPP government in the state will give full autonomy to the local government.

He insisted that the NNPP government, when elected, would not usurp the statutory responsibility of building motor parks from the local government as in the case with the APC led government in the state.

“We are going to declare free and compulsory education at primary and secondary level. NNPP government in the state will take over the payment of NECO and WAEC fees of students in secondary schools in the state”.

Maidoya also disclosed that the party will abolish Common Mock Examination, boost skills acquisition among youths through the establishment of science and technical colleges in every local government area of the state when it comes into power.

According to him, the party would prioritize agriculture sector through adequate funding to pave way for exportation of farm produce to the outside world.

PoliticsChatham House: Tinubu Proved Naysayers Wrong – Alake by leethebee(op): 10:10pm On Dec 05, 2022
The Director of Strategic Communication of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Chief Dele Alake has described critics of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as character assassins.

Speaking on Channels Television, Politics Today, Alake while commending Tinubu’s delivery at Chatham House in the Uk said: “Tinubu proved all the naysayers of negativism, all those who left germane issue facing Nigeria and engaged in character assassination wrong.

“Asiwaju has been applauded and commended by all and sundry. From the report we got, people are saying they never knew he was this articulate, he was flawless”.

Asked why people spoke for him during questions, he said: “That’s one of the innovations of Asiwaju Tinubu. Don’t forget that one of his strengths has been identifying talents and head hunting of the highest order.

“Anybody who knows Asiwaju would know that he’s primus inter pares in team building that is what he showed. Those who are saying what you just said are ignorant of the dynamics of leadership.”

Alake insisted that “leadership is not a one man show! Successful leadership is the one that is based on a team that is professional, and that is management acumen. Asiwaju also answered questions personally and directly.

“He wanted to show the calibre of his team. In fact that style is being copied by some of his opponents. In his address, he spoke for 28 minutes. Nobody helped him to deliver his address. The question and answer was a small part of the engagement.

“He sought to display the dexterity of his team which is also an important ingredient in successful leadership. People must get their priorities right. When you want a good leader and one of the requirements of a good leadership is the ability and capacity to build a strong team that is knowledgeable and strong, that is what Tinubu has done”.

PoliticsRivers: Alleged Arrest Of PDP Guber Candidate Baseless – Campaign Council by leethebee(op): 5:50pm On Dec 01, 2022
Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council has dismissed the rumoured arrest of its gubernatorial candidate, Siminalayi Fubara, as false and mischievous.

Unconfirmed report has been trending in the social media that men of the Department of State Security (DSS) had apprehended Fubara, aka Sim, at an unknown location with intent to hand him over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Chief Ogbonna Nwuke, Spokesman, for the Consolidation of Rivers Vision (PDP) Campaign Council said in a statement on Wednesday that there is no substance in claims that Sim has been arrested by any security.

He said, “It is baffling that some jobbers, spin doctors and never-do-wells are intent on misleading public opinion through the spread of bare-faced lies. What they have dropped on the social media are tissues of malicious lies. Note that the mass media is silent on a tale that obviously lacks facts and credibility.

“For avoidance of doubt, there is no truth in these worthless claims. They are lies cooked in hell and served by agents of darkness who have nothing to offer. It is on record that Sim has a judgment in his favour against the EFCC.

“That judgment has asked the anti-graft agencies to pay damages to the flag bearer of the PDP for maligning his image. There is no evidence that the court decision has been overturned. Besides, Sim is busy going about his normal business as a citizen and a gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Rivers.

“No amount of falsehood will change the truth. The truth is that Sim is a free man, who is free under our laws as a noble Rivers son, a hard-nosed professional and a politician to participate in free and fair elections organised in this State.

“Rumour mongering has never won any election. We urge those who are behind these unfounded rumours to tell Rivers people what their preferred candidates will do instead wasting the valuable time of Rivers people.”

PoliticsReno Omokri: Only Atiku Is Prepared, With Lucid Mind To Lead Nigerians by leethebee(op): 11:28pm On Nov 30, 2022
The number one bestselling author and former aide to ex president Goodluck Jonathan, Pastor Reno Omokri, has said that among the presidential candidates vying for Nigeria’s president, only Atiku is prepared as well as the only candidate with the lucid mind to lead Nigerians.

He said Nigeria’s problems are multifaceted hence, the country only needs a leader with lucid mind and that such a leader whom Nigerians need is Atiku Abubakar.

Omokri gave the statements in the 50th and 51st blurbs of his political campaign series urging Nigerians to see reasons why he believes the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar is the best fit for Nigeria’s president come 2023.

The former presidential aide also noted that Atiku passes all tests to be the best candidate Nigeria needs.

The statement reads thus:

“Day 50 of #WhyShouldIVoteAtiku: Waziri Atiku does not smoke, drink, or take hard drugs. He has previously said he is ready to be tested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in this regard. Can any of the other major Presidential candidates, most notably Bola Tinubu, say the same?

Nigeria’s challenges are multifaceted and hydra-headed. To resolve them, we need a leader whose mind is lucid, clear, and not inebriated. Waziri Atiku has been a public speaker for decades. Not once has he mixed up words, or acronyms, or abbreviations, or lost his chain of thought. This is the result of a lifetime being free from drugs.

Other candidates are either notorious for giving out false or exaggerated statistics, or for mixing up things, and forgetting what they were saying mid sentence, or even uttering gibberish. Are those the type of people you want to represent you on the international stage as your President? People who lie or get things mixed up?

It is precisely for this reason and others I have listed and will still list, God willing, that I urge you to vote Waziri Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Please join me for another reason to vote Atiku tomorrow, God sparing my life.

Meanwhile, in his 51st political blurb, Omokri said thus:

“Day 51 of #WhyShouldIVoteAtiku: How can you say a candidate is the best among the lot, yet more than six months after he declared he has no manifesto? And his campaign is built on fake statistics, and emotional appeals to a section of the nation’s youth, who do not remember his mediocre performance as Governor?

And how can you even consider the other main alternative, Bola Tinubu? A man who is obviously not in full control of his faculties and gives a sad account of himself when he appears or speaks in public? It is not even fair on the man himself to place the heavy responsibilities of the office of the President of Nigerians on his ailing shoulders.

Only one man is prepared to be President. And that man is Waziri Atiku Abubakar, who had his manifesto ready BEFORE he even declared. He is a man with a strong public presence. His command of the issues and ability to articulate them is top notch.

Peter Obi, a man who still has not produced his manifesto barely two months to the election, is obviously ill prepared. That is also why his statistics are inaccurate, and his stories are contradictory. Nigeria does not need a kindergarten President.

And Bola Tinubu is unfortunately impaired by the rapid onset of cognitive disorders and dissonances. We do not mock him. Rather, we sympathise with him.

If you want a President that will be ready from day one, vote Waziri Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Vote for the only man who has said that his cabinet will be ready even before he is sworn in.

Please join me for another reason to vote Atiku tomorrow, God sparing my life

SportsWe Didn’t Apologise To Donald Duke Over Use Of Photo – Tinubu’s Campaign by leethebee(op): 3:54pm On Nov 29, 2022
The All Progressives Congress Campaign Council, on Tuesday, said it never issued a statement of apology to a former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, over the use of his photograph in a documentary on the party’s presidential flagbearer, Bola Tinubu.

The documentary titled “Bola Tinubu And His Political Journey” which contains a photo of the ex-Cross River governor to depict Tinubu at his young age has since generated lots of conversation on social media.

Some media platforms had earlier published a statement purportedly from Bayo Onanuga, one of the spokespersons of the APC Presidential Campaing Council (PCC), stating that the campaign had issued an apology to Duke.

However, in a statement on Monday, Onanuga dismissed the aforesaid reports, noting that the campaign did not issue any apology to Mr Duke.

Onanuga explained that no member of the Tinubu campaign media directorate authorised the said apology on behalf of the former Lagos State governor.

His words, “Our attention has been drawn to a press statement currently in circulation credited to the Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.

“In the said statement, Mr. Onanuga was reported to have apologised to Mr. Donald Duke for an error in the use of his picture in a documentary on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We want to categorically state that the Directorate of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council did not authorise the said statement and Mr. Onanuga didn’t issue any statement on behalf of the campaign council and our principal, Asiwaju Tinubu today.

“We urge the media and members of the public to disregard the statement as a fake news designed to create confusion and mislead the public.”

Politics2023: Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi Attack Bola Tinubu by leethebee(op): 9:48am On Nov 28, 2022
The Presidential Campaign teams of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; and Labour Party, LP, yesterday, lashed out at the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over alleged lack of capacity to lead the country.

The duo spoke in response to Tinubu’s attack on them during APC presidential rallies and activities in Delta and Lagos last weekend.

In Gbaramatu, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Tinubu had pleaded with HRM Oboro Gbaraun II, the Pere of the Gbaramatu Kingdom, during a visit, to order the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate to stop running for the presidency.

Tinubu during the visit to the revered monarch at his palace in Oporozo, noted that there were few presidential candidates contesting elections.

“One says he is Atiku. How many times has he been running? He’s always on the run. He is never tired of running. Tell him to go and sit down… The other one (Peter Obi of the Labour Party) lies with statistics and arithmetic.

”No Indian can solve it. To mention his name is a disgrace to me. He gives wrong statistics and wrong arithmetic about the economy,” Tinubu had said.

Not done, Tinubu, at a rally at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos on Saturday, urged Nigerians to retire Atiku permanently in 2023 because he and the PDP had nothing to offer the citizenry, following their 16 years in power.

However, the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign yesterday urged Nigerians to see through the desperate attempt by Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu to divert attention from his party’s seven disastrous years at the helm of affairs.

Spokesperson of the campaign, Mr. Kola Ologbodiyan, said this in a telephone chat with Vanguard, in Abuja, yesterday, that Tinubu, who was obviously embarrassed by the disastrous outing of the Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration over the past seven years, was looking for ways to divert the attention of Nigerians by taking a dig at the PDP and Atiku.

Also, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, the special assistant on Public Communications to the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, described Tinubu as a clown fit for the theatre, not Nigeria’s presidency.

Ologbondiyan said: “It is unfortunate that a candidate that cannot offer, let alone activate alternative programmes is seeking to counsel Nigerians on how to cast their votes.

“Is it not laughable that a candidate, who cannot campaign on a single achievement of his party’s misadventure in governance, is seeking to blackmail Nigerians?

“It is instructive for Tinubu to know that Nigerians are desirous of returning to those 16 years with improvements from our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as life was far better to the misrule which Asiwaju and his co-travellers imposed on Nigerians just because of his life ambition.

The PDP campaign spokesman noted that Nigerians, who were today suffering from the misrule of the APC, were praying for February 2023 to come quickly for them to vote the APC out and return the PDP to power in order to secure the future of generations yet unborn.

Also speaking, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, said: ”Tinubu should be contesting to be the Grand Comedian of the Federal Republic and not Grand Commander of the Federal Republic going by his utterances.

”It is public knowledge that every time Tinubu comes out in public to make a statement or two, he has always goofed.

“If he is not saying that voter’s card has expiration date; he is saying young Nigerians are tweeting on WhatsApp or that 50 million youths should be recruited into the Nigerian Army and be fed with cassava in the morning, and Agbado in the night.

“How can you say Nigerians are tweeting on WhatsApp? Is that the kind of person we want to hand 21st Century Nigeria over to?

“In his latest gaffe at the Lagos rally, he asked Nigerians to get their APV in order to vote for APC when even primary school children know that PVC is the only item that admits a voter into a polling unit.

“Without mincing words, Tinubu’s gaffes already supply comedians, skit makers, meme-makers, and TikTokers with content.

“He is a self-writing joke and will make Nigeria a bye-word for scorn among the comity of nations, which is why he shouldn’t get close to power,”Shaibu further said.

He explained that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s claim at the Lagos rally that Tinubu would lift Nigerians out of hardship and hunger was an indictment of the APC, an admission that, indeed, over 133 million Nigerians now live in abject poverty as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS.

“Now they are selling a message of a renewed hope. It is common knowledge that darkness cannot cure darkness and sickness cannot cure sickness. How can the APC be promising to fix problems exacerbated by the same APC? This is balderdash,” he said.

On its part, the media team of the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, said the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dreads facts and figures used by opponents in place of mere rhetoric.

The Obi-Datti Media Office said in a statement yesterday noted that Tinubu had said at a rally of rented crowds in Gbaramatu, Delta State, that Peter Obi of the Labour Party lied with figures, stressing that “a speech-challenged contestant, who cannot pronounce or spell ‘m.u.l.t.i.p.l.i.c.a.t.i.o.n’ and wants to argue about numbers, arithmetic, and statistics says a lot about how low we have climbed in this country.”

The campaign team further stated the LP candidate was brimming with practicable ideas and was demystifying electioneering rhetoric by employing simple facts and figures in his campaigns.

“Providing the numbers shows Peter Obi’s preparedness for the high office of the president if and when hired by Nigerian voters come 2023,” the media office said.

The Obi-Datti Media Office said it was aware of the inability of some candidates in the presidential race to cope with Peter Obi’s speed and deep knowledge of issues; saying, “this has resulted in a grand design to distract his focus from the issue-driven campaigns, which are resonating very well with Nigerians, who are ready and committed to taking back their country from forces that have held it down over the years.”

On the use of figures to convey facts, the LP statement added that it was risky to dine with the devil without the proverbial long spoon or to run with the robber and confuse passers-by about the identity of the real thief.

“Our candidate has said repeatedly that his assertions were verifiable and dared anybody with contrary facts and figures to come up.

”Analysts, media houses, and opponents have formed fact-checking units in their organisations ostensibly to contradict Peter Obi’s facts and figures, but, they are yet to succeed,” the media team said.

It cited a recent Arise TV town hall meeting in Abuja where a team of fact-checkers was raised to hook Obi, but noted that they ended up apologising to him.

“The acceptable mantra is always if you can’t beat them, join them, but in Nigerian politics the reverse is the case: if you can’t beat them pull them down. That is what Obi’s opponents, who cannot cope with his deep know-how about the economy are doing.

“We find it extremely laughable and shameful that a candidate who is aspiring to lead his country has not been able to present any identifiable record of his origin, age, and educational background and he is challenging the man who is indisputably equipped with the way to go about salvaging our dear country.

“The fact that the APC man has questionable bio-data has left the electorate guessing his real age and health status,” the media office noted.

Politics2023 Election About Competence, Not Religion- Tinubu Group by leethebee(op): 11:50pm On Nov 26, 2022
A Pro-Tinubu Campaign Organisation, The Asiwaju Progressive Movement (TAM), says the 2023 election will not be about religion, but competence in leadership.

This is contained in a statement signed by its Spokesperson, Joshua Owoyomi, and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Ibadan.

Recall reports that the group was reacting to a recent statement credited to Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Also Lawal had declared that his group tagged: “APC Northern Christians” would not support the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, over Muslim/Muslim ticket.

Owoyomi said that Tinubu was not in the Presidential race as candidate of any religion, but as a national candidate, who is out for national unity.

“Asiwaju is out to unite a nation, not to divide it along religious lines.

“Mr Lawal and his crew had better wake up and smell the coffee; this election is not about religious differences, but national unity,” he said.

Owoyomi said the group was disturbed by the activities of a self-serving group, APC Northern Christian leaders led by Lawal.

He said that Lawal’s position was sequel to his failure to secure the Vice presidential ticket of the party.

“We understand the disappointment of Lawal after been overlooked for the position of the APC vice-presidential candidate, he is free to be disappointed and lick his wounds.

“It’s disappointing that someone who had on many occasions spoken of how Muslims helped him positively is now raising religious issues, trying to fan religious intolerance because of politics and election,” Owoyomi said.

The group spokesperson said the coming election was beyond religion, warning politicians like Lawal to bury the idea of de-marketing Tinubu on the grounds of religious sentiment.

“It is unfortunate that Lawal is still in the class of politicians who think they can use religion to manipulate the people.

“How can he and his likes think they can use religion to de-market Tinubu, a Muslim proudly married to a Christian Pastor and freely practicing her Christianity without intimidation?

“Lawal and his group are not thoughtful enough to know that it is difficult to use religion to truncate the ambition of a man who as Governor, had many Christians in his inner circle,” he said.

Owoyomi said that Tinubu never used religion as a factor to choose who work with him or not while serving as governor of Lagos State.

He said that Tinubu started thanksgiving service to open every working year as Governor in Lagos State and could not be classified as enemy of the Christian community.

“Let it be known to Lawal and his crew that the boat has sailed; it is either they find a way to come on board or stay at the shore,” Owoyomi said.
