If you don't get then you ask? The new e-visa policy was a replacement for visa on arrival (VoA). US citizens were not eligible for visa on arrival. You will have to go to the Nigeria embassy to get a physical visa on your passport. Just last week a US citizen got a Nigerian 5 year visa on her passport. You guys should read and learn.

The statement by @AdisaMighty is not correct. Please let's stop spreading misinformation. A simple research can educate all but we're all lazy. US citizens get 5 years visa reciprocity from Nigeria since 2023. This revised US policy is hinged on a different reason which is not difficult to decipher.

I scheduled an interview appointment for November 17 when I first paid. I downloaded and printed my appointment letter. But after some time, I saw an October date and took it. However, my appointment confirmation letter carries the November date. Do I need to print a new appointment letter to bear the new appointment date and time or does the old one work? Will it matter what date the letter carries since my account on AVITS carries the October date?

Yes, the date is very important. Plus when you reschedule you are required to reprint the confirmation letter. The point of reprinting is to have your date updated.

1..Yes you must fill another DS-160 in order to update the information of one of your siblings. U.S. embassy will do background checks on both siblings therefore, their information on DS-160 must be accurate.

2▪︎ After filling the new DS-160, all you will have to do is to raise a support ticket from their AVITS profile requesting the U.S embassy to update the DS-160. After 24hrs which the update must have been validated then you will have to print another appointment letters. Bro us embassy will not do any background checks on any siblings especially not if you’re applying for a visitors visa. They won’t even do a background check on you. The visa decision lies solely on the interview that will last between 3 to 5 minutes and any other us immigration info they have in you. The only time you should expect a background check is if you go for an interview and they give you 221g. Apart from that, they don’t send you like that to go and be doing background checks. Do you know how many visas are processed daily??

this is normal. you will wait till the embassy provides new dates on the portal. Just be checking everyday. Plus from my experience, you can't book appointment the same day that you made payment. you usually have to wait for like 3 days for it to reflect

Please house.. i need help my 2 kids IW was submitted on the 25th June and was issued by 27th june.. returned to DHL free service by the 2nd july.. so one of my Sons Visa was issued and one was refused due to 221g “thumb printing” but we have a mix up because when send out email to us they sent the 221g appointment link to the my younger son who was already issued a UVisa but now we are left with my 14 year old that has a post IW letter of 221g but no appointment date email to be able to schedule for the same interview but what i did is schedule a date for 9th of july for the younger one who already has 5years.. this is the second time they UEmbassy are mixing things up.. the embassy once stamped Visas on the wrong passport of the same boyz.. we had to call them and return through DHL.. or should i carry both boys on the said appointment day..

This sounds like an error from the embassy. If I were in your shoes, I would book the appointment, and take the appointment slip with the son who was given 221. Explain the error they made. They’re human beings too.

She submitted May 20th, application received May 21, first case update was June 10th second was June 30 and issued July 2nd.

We should ask those who received a 221(g) how long it took for them to get their passports back. This way, we can better estimate when yours is likely to return.

I don’t think going to the embassy changes anything as they'll not let you in without an appointment, the collection office are the ones to be pressured.

Your passport will not be with you this weekend. When you receive your 221g email which can take a week from now, your passport will then be back with Ois the next day or two. Then you’ll have to pay for expedited pick up which would be the next day

You won’t. Trust me. Just sit back and relax. Had to cancel my own travel plans for may. The person I was meant to travel with has gone and come back. Embassy people are really doing anyhow. Going there would not do anything for you unless you personally know the Us ambassador

Your eligibility means you’re allowed to apply for interview waiver till July 24. As far as you have applied and you have printed out your drop off appointment letter which shows August 10, you have nothing to worry about. Just carry your passport to iOS on August 10.

You also have the option of opting for an in person interview but it means you will wait for 1 year plus to get a date like everybody else

You can get your passport back till 8 weeks has passed and they’ve not given you feedback. This applies to interview waiver because it is clearly stated on the appointment letter

Let's imagine a scenario where an applicant was denied a visa, like Canada, UK,New Zealand or Schengen. These countries also share information with the US. Would the applicant have to disclose visa denials of other countries in the DS-160 even when the form does not provide avenue for such? I believe the answer is No

My conclusion from all the points everyone has made is to answer the DS-160 form in relation to the questions asked and not disclose what is not directly asked. At the interview if it then comes up, it can be addressed verbally

Bro it did not have to take so long for you to get on the same page with me. Go and do your research about how visa interviews are carried out.

The interviewer doesn’t know anything about you till you walk up to the for the interview and you give them your ds 160 slip which they would scan. The only other information that will be available to them is your USA travel history and your USA visa approval and denial history.

This visa thing doesn’t call for being overzealous. It will put you in trouble . The kind of trouble that you will look back and be regretting. That interview that will last for 3 minutes max, you’ll be asking yourself why did I say this or why did I say that.

Just answer question that you are asked, nothing more

I get what you mean, but it’s really important to be careful. It depends on which country refused entry and whether any visa was cancelled in their system at that time. Some countries share data with the U.S., and if there was a visa cancellation connected to that refused entry, it could be visible during U.S. background checks. That’s why it’s safer for the OP to clarify exactly what happened, where, when, and whether a visa was cancelled, before deciding not to mention it. Better to be transparent if there’s any doubt, because misrepresentation can ruin future chances with the U.S. embassy.
I’m all for keeping application tidy and free of unnecessary explanations but also it’s best to be cautious.

Don’t allow this guy shoot himself in the face. The question is clear. Have you been denied visa. Visa denial and refusal of entry are two completely different things. If they refuse you entry, it’s for a reason, a reason that applies in that moment. It doesn’t take away your visa. You can travel there the next week and they will grant you entry. Visa denial is not refusal of entry. I don’t understand how you want to volunteer information that will make you to start explaining many for them. Even if it was USA that you were refused entry, it doesn’t mean your visa was denied. English shouldn’t be hard to comprehend na. They one simple question so answer it accordingly.

The DS 160 form has a portion where it asks if you have ever been removed or deported from any other country. To be removed or deported from any country has a process, which typically comes at a cost to immigration and it means the person was already in the country, flouted an immigration rule and is consequently removed/deported. However there's a situation where a person was refused entry at the border due to documentation. While refused entry isn't the same as being removed or deported the DS 160 form does not provide a question where applicants can state refused entry. How does an applicant then disclose a case of refusal to enter in the DS 160?

You want to dash them information that will implicate you. Don’t disclose anything about the refusal simple. Because they won’t know if you don’t tell them

I got my passport back. 221g . I’ve scheduled an interview.
My case was processed in the 8th week. The wait was so long only to come and see administrative processing

Wow, so you’re part of us April people. I can’t believe they’re not done processing the whole of April even though 8 weeks has passed since any submission in April.

They’ve also gotten back to people that submitted in may and June. There’s something about April submissions that I do not understand.

there is no need to fill another one. it is not even likely that the visa officer will bring it up but if he or she does then simply state that you can easily make adjustments because of your visa unavailability.

he is referring to 221g rescheduling while you are referring to normal interview scheduling. Both are different with different priorities and dates. For example, you are talking about 2026 dates but he is talking about 2025 dates. You can't see 2025 dates because what you are scheduling is different from his own

Because I noticed that the other available dates were all on Thursdays in August. i.e. 14th, 21st and 28th. It is possible they set aside certain slots for applicants who get a 221g request via IW. Just a personal opinion.

nawa o. i received my 221g on monday and the only available dates were in september. I've booked september but ive also been checking for dates to become available. Till now, no new date has become available. Even all the september dates are now taken. Its like they're not making the available dates open to everyone

The email shared by @MrMighty was probably sent when both AVITS and the U.S. embassy has not gotten their bearings. As of today , U.S embassy will not ask you to cancel a pending appointment after you must have sent the appropriate emails on payment issues. They will only send a mail asking you to click on pending appointment which will automatically takes you to a calendar or they tell you that your payment cannot be verified.

Below is the only avenue recommended by the U.S. embassy to sort out your payment/appointment booking issues. You will have to send the email via your registered email and remember to COPY AVITS amentum
nigeria@usvisaappt.com Start clicking on pending appointment after 2 days. If this one doesn't sort it out you will have to pay another MRV no doubt. 👍

Hello ya’ll I have made payment since feb12 and I want to confirm if anyone has had this similar issues and got it resolved. My payment shows it’s valid but it’s not letting me confirm it but they asked me to cancel and restart a new one that it will automatically detect the payment. Is it safe to do that pls cos I don’t want to forfeit the large sum I paid for my wife and myself.

If it is avits support that is telling you to do that, nobody here can advice you or give you better info than them. They work directly with the embassy. Do as they say you should.
