Block work starts with forming.
The process called Forming on site is when the 1st set of blocks for the walls are placed on the slab according to the architectural plan, showing all the walls and openings.

This process requires a very intelligent mason to carry out, because all the walls must be straight, parallel and perpendicular at corners, except where the architectural drawings say otherwise.

The ground beam aka raft foundation was selected and put in place from the recommendation below

RECOMMENDATION AND CONCLUSIONS
The type(s) of foundations to be adopted on this site shall be determined by the
bearing pressure requirements and the cost of utilization. A state of permanent submergence of the subsoil is assumed in the following
foundation analysis.

1 Shallow Foundation
To adopt shallow foundation on this site, three option may be considered.

a) The first option involves individual excavation for footings to about - 1500mm. Using an average cone end resistance of 25kgf/cm2
for the
silty sand at -1500mm, an allowable bearing pressure of 35KN/m2
is
computed for a pad and column placed at this depth with estimated
settlement in the order of 25mm.

b) A raft foundation could be placed on the present ground level, Such raft
is capable of mobilizing a safe bearing pressure of 50KN/m2 with
estimated settlement not exceeding 50mm.

c) The third option involves the placement of a sand fill across the site. This
puts into consideration the low lying nature of the ground surface within
the site relative to the access road. The type of material recommended to
for the fill is well graded sand, known to be characteristically stable for
this purpose. This material has good drainage properties and may be
compacted in 0.1m to 0.3m thick layers to densities approaching the
standard proctor maximum at optimum moisture. A relative compaction
figure of 97% is recommended to be achieved for the fill. The thickness of
the fill will distribute surface loads, acting itself like a big raft. The fill will
serve an added function of counteracting flooding provided the finished
level is raised above the crown of the access road level. If the
recommended fill material is used and well compacted, the fill may be
capable of safely bearing 75KN/m2 with settlement not exceeding
50mm. A fill thickness of 1500mm have been used in the above computation.
Where the above given allowable bearing pressure is deemed inadequate for the
proposed development or the use of shallow foundation is not applicable, deep
foundation in the form of short piles may be considered. 5.2 Deep Foundation
Piles to be used may be bored cast- in -situ or pressure grouted auger piles. Usage
of driven piles in built up areas such as this site may result in damages to adjacent
structures due to uncontrolled stress transmittance. A pile depth at -6.00m may be considered. At this depth , using an average qp of 49kgf/cm2 an ultimate bearing pressure of
1,630KN/m2
is computed for the pile toe area of bored pile. With the above value and using a safety factor of 2.5 the following is working
loads for different sizes of bored piles.

Take a look at the 3D of the new construction, it's a medical centre.

The Project is a bungalow on a 1000 square metres land.

It is a complete turn key project.

Construction time is estimated to be six months.

The site was filled and compacted with sharp sand. Sharp sand is very good when it is compacted.

But we can also use other fillings like laterite, rubbles, etc

Since the foundation type is a Raft foundation, sharp sand is the best option.

We will also allow the sand compact further under the rain.
