The presidential candidate went to the northern zone, and the chairman of the party also went to the same zone; we said no, it can’t happen like this. Give Atiku power today and you'll find out that when it comes to Nepotism, he's worst than Buhari, the north had just finished 8 years, you came back from Dubai to buy the presidential primary, and still zoned the party's chairmanship to the north, even Buhari didn't have the gut to do that. After Wike had kept the party afloat after you left in 2015, you came back to just throw money around, oya keep the party at peace now. |

Politics › El-rufai Attacked Jonathan After Sambo Became VP – Reno Omokri by Leobankx(op): 10:04am On Jan 30, 2025 |
Reno Omokri, a staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu’s administration has claimed that former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai started attacking ex-President Goodluck Jonathan after he picked Nemadi Sambo as his Vice Presidential nominee in 2010. He was reacting to El-Rufai’s claim that the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi informed him that mercenaries were hired to destroy the LP like they are doing in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
El-Rufai disclosed this while noting that he no longer recognized the APC because the party lacked internal democracy.
The former governor said the APC organs like the National Executive Committee, NEC, and Caucus have not met in the last two years.
Speaking at an event in Abuja, El-Rufai accused APC of deviating from its founding principles.
However, posting on X, Omokri wrote: “Why did Peter Obi choose to make that statement on the same day that those men met? Look, the signs are obvious. Peter Obi knows, as I know, that their intentions for Nigeria are just state capture.
“Because Mr. Obi was part of the Jonathan administration, like myself, and knows that Nasir el-Rufai met President Jonathan at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, and began praising Dr. Jonathan after that meeting and urging the then-acting President to contest the 2011 Presidential election because he thought he would be named vice President by President Jonathan.
“But four days later, on May 15, 2010, when then-President Jonathan named Namadi Sambo the vice presidential nominee instead of him, Nasir el-Rufai began fighting him.
“Now, after having been snubbed by this administration, el-Rufai is up to his old antics.
“I call on Nigerians to remind Nasir el-Rufai of his diabolical history and tell him they would not stand for a military coup because he lost out on becoming a minister.” https://dailypost.ng/2025/01/30/el-rufai-started-attacking-jonathan-after-picking-sambo-as-vp-omokri/q

Foreign Affairs › Mark Zuckerberg's Meta Agrees To Pay Trump $25m For Account Ban Settlement by Leobankx(op): 9:50am On Jan 30, 2025 |
Meta has agreed to pay President Donald Trump $25 million to settle a 2021 lawsuit he filed claiming he was wrongfully censored by Facebook and Instagram after the US Capitol riot, the company said Wednesday. The Wall Street Journal first reported the settlement of the suit brought against Meta and its chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, in what was seen as a victory for Trump.
According to people familiar with the agreement, the Journal said, $22 million of the payment will go towards funding Trump’s future presidential library, with the remainder covering legal fees and payments to other plaintiffs in the case.
Meta in the settlement will not admit wrongdoing over the suspensions of Trump’s accounts.
A spokesperson for Meta confirmed the settlement to AFP.
Trump had widely criticized social media platforms for suspending his accounts after the January 6, 2021 insurrection by his supporters, and comments he made that were seen as praising people engaged in the violence.
But he has recently courted tech titans including Zuckerberg and X owner Elon Musk, both of whom attended Trump’s presidential inauguration last week in Washington.
Zuckerberg has expressed support for Trump, and he has tweaked Meta’s policies to lift restrictions on some content within the company’s apps, which include Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp.
Meta would be “restoring free expression on our platforms,” Zuckerberg, who reportedly dined with Trump at his Florida estate in November, said this month in announcing a rollback of fact-checking operations.
The settlement is the latest bow by media corporations as they gird for a second Trump presidency.
In December, ABC News agreed to pay a $15 million settlement payment to resolve a defamation lawsuit brought by Trump stemming from on-air comments about him made by a top anchor.
Earlier Wednesday Meta reported its net income soared by 59 percent to $62.36 billion for the full year. https://www.channelstv.com/2025/01/30/meta-agrees-to-pay-trump-25m-for-account-ban-settlement/

Politics › 2027: PDP Must Speak With Peter Obi - Party Chieftain, Eddy Olafeso by Leobankx(op): 8:17am On Jan 30, 2025 |
A member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s reconciliation committee, Eddy Olafeso, says that the party must speak with Labour Party Presidential candidate in 2023, Peter Obi and other opposition political party leaders for an alliance that will defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Obi, who was an aspirant under the PDP, left the party before its primary in 2022 to the Labour Party where he garnered a total of 6,101,533 votes to come third in the election behind the eventual winner Tinubu who scored a total of 8,794,726 votes and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP who scored 6,984,520 votes.
Asked on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Wednesday if the crisis-hit PDP need to court Obi to have a chance against the APC in 2027, Olafeso said, “Not only Peter Obi, every person that is somebody in this country that can actually garner one or two votes must be spoken with.”
The PDP chieftain reiterated the need for a strong alliance to battle APC in 2027, saying that it would be very difficult for one political party to defeat the ruling party.
“It is not only here that you have alliances; you have people working together to be able to win an election.
“It happened in Ghana not quite a long time ago and that is exactly what we all should do at this moment, no single party can defeat APC alone, don’t let us delude ourselves. We must all come together to fight,” Olafeso added.
He blamed PDP leadership for the balkanisation of the party ahead of the 2023 election which contributed to its loss at the polls.
Olafeso noted that the combination of Atiku and Obi’s votes would have sent Tinubu to a distant second, regretting the inability of the PDP leadership to keep its house together ahead of the 2023 election.
The crisis in the PDP has continued to linger, as Atiku and the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, are yet to reconcile since their falling out after the party’s primary in 2022.
However, Olafeso insisted that the rift between the two leaders was not irreconcilable, expressing confidence that the party would walk through that door and bring everybody together. https://www.channelstv.com/2025/01/29/2027-pdp-must-speak-with-peter-obi-others-says-olafeso/

Politics › "Show Evidence" Labour Party Challenges Atiku Over Alleged ₦50 Million APC Bribe by Leobankx(op): 6:38am On Jan 30, 2025 |
The Labour Party says it is not aware of any bribe alleged to have been paid to the leadership of opposition parties in Nigeria by the All Progressives Congress, APC, led government as alleged by former vice president, Atiku Abubakar.DAILY POST recalls that Atiku, while speaking at a national conference on strengthening democracy held in Abuja on Monday, accused the ruling APC of offering N50 million each to some persons to instigate crisis in the opposition parties.
Reacting, LP in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh denied the claim, saying that the party’s leadership has “never received a dime from any individual, group, organisation or government who are not members of the Labour Party”.
According to the statement, it is improper for the Atiku to “throw a shade at the entire opposition without also putting forward a tangible proof other than a ‘gossip’ from an unnamed source”.
The statement reads, “We are shocked that a high caliber politician who has contested the election all his life and is often regarded as a very experienced politician could make such a wild, unguarded and unfounded statement.
“For us in the Labour Party, a party which has remained the strongest and most veritable opposition and which speaks truth to power; a party that led the most serious campaign in the 2023 general election and has been steadfast and has remained the voice of the people, we view that statement as demeaning, ignominious, reckless and a let down from someone like Atiku Abubakar.
“We want to put it on record that the Labour Party has run a frugal administration from funds internally generated, having not received support from our elected representatives. And in spite of the challenges the party has faced in the recent past, the leadership of the party has remained solid and committed to the ideals of the party.
“The leadership has not received any salary from anybody. Salaries are not hidden and it is not difficult to verify who and who are on the government payroll. It is a public document and it can be verified. We therefore advise Atiku to be circumspect and careful in generalizing certain allegations. We expect him to speak for himself and his party.
“The opposition is the oxygen of any virile democracy, because it helps put the government in power in proper checks while also ensuring inclusivity in democratic participation. Democracy without opposition is an autocracy and it takes a lot of sacrifices to sustain opposition.
“It is therefore frustrating and unpatriotic when leaders who ought to know better, begin to derive joy in denigrating the opposition camp and making jests of their sacrifices.
“We are therefore calling on Atiku Abubakar to provide concrete evidence to substantiate his allegations without which Nigerians will be forced to take every other of his statements with a pinch of salt and are politically motivated”. https://dailypost.ng/2025/01/29/show-evidence-lp-challenges-atiku-over-alleged-n50m-apc-bribe/

Foreign Affairs › We Can Have Peace Talks With Ukraine But Not With Zelensky - Putin by Leobankx(op): 11:01am On Jan 29, 2025 |
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday said that his country could hold peace talks with Ukraine, ruling out speaking directly with President Volodymyr Zelensky, whom he described as illegitimate.Responding, the Ukrainian leader said Putin was afraid of negotiations and was using cynical tricks to prolong the nearly three-year conflict.
DAILY POST reports that U.S. President Donald Trump has mounted pressure on both sides to end the fighting since assuming office on January 20, threatening tougher sanctions on Russia while claiming that Zelensky is ready to negotiate a deal.
“If (Zelensky) wants to participate in the negotiations, I will allocate people to take part.
“If there is a desire to negotiate and find a compromise, let anyone lead the negotiations there… Naturally, we will strive for what suits us, what corresponds to our interests,” Putin said, calling Zelensky illegitimate because his presidential term expired during martial law.
According to Zelensky, there was a chance to achieve real peace, stating that the Kremlin chief was frustrating efforts to stop the fighting.
“Today, Putin once again confirmed that he is afraid of negotiations, afraid of strong leaders, and does everything possible to prolong the war,” Zelensky wrote on X.
Meanwhile, Kyiv has warned against being excluded from any peace talks between Russia and the U.S., accusing Putin of wanting to manipulate Trump.
Putin also claimed that the fighting would end in two months or less if the West cut its support to Kyiv.
The conflict has shown no signs of de-escalating despite Trump’s promise to enact a quick ceasefire once in office.
Russia said on Wednesday it had downed more than 100 Ukrainian drones in an overnight attack, while Kyiv’s military said Moscow had launched an overnight drone attack of its own.
Russia’s army said Tuesday that its forces had captured a large village in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, the latest territorial gain for Moscow’s advancing troops. https://dailypost.ng/2025/01/29/war-we-can-have-peace-talks-with-ukraine-but-not-with-zelensky-putin/

Politics › Okpebholo Absent As South-South Governors Meet In Bayelsa by Leobankx(op): 8:23am On Jan 29, 2025 |
Governors of the South-South geopolitical zone on Tuesday met in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital over economic and security issues plaguing the region. In attendance at the meeting were Governors Bassey Otu (Cross River), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom) and the host governor Duoye Diri (Bayelsa).
However, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, was noticeably absent. The governor did not send his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, to represent him at the meeting that seeks to foster regional development and cooperation.
The session, hosted by Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, took place at the Governor’s Conference Room, Government House, Yenagoa.
In his opening address, Governor Diri underscored the strategic importance of the gathering, emphasizing the need for greater synergy among the six South-South states.
He highlighted critical areas for collaboration, including security, agriculture, education, power, environment, tourism, and youth empowerment through sports, ICT, and entrepreneurship.
“The swiftly changing landscape of our country and the world at large highlights the clear and urgent need for enhanced regional collaboration and development,” the governor noted.
“Our shared progress and prosperity are tightly connected to our capacity to work together toward a common aim.”
Governor Diri did not shy away from addressing the significant challenges facing the region.
He lamented the adverse effects of oil exploration and the inadequate returns for the region despite being Nigeria’s economic backbone.
“Everywhere we turn, it seems that the proverbial curse of oil wealth has held us hostage,” he observed.
Calling for decisive action, Governor Diri urged his fellow governors to leverage the BRACED Commission, a think-tank established in 1999 to facilitate collective development in the South-South region.
He stressed the need to move beyond mere communiqués and memoranda.
“It is time to turn words into action and transform our shared aspirations into tangible results,” he asserted.
He emphasized the necessity of catalysing regional investment and development by focusing on key sectors with immense potential for job creation and socio-economic growth.
Of particular interest to the governor were proposals for a regional flight connection and the establishment of a regional railway line to ease transportation.
He also called for the speedy completion of the East-West Road, a critical artery connecting all South-South states.
Addressing regional security concerns, Governor Diri highlighted recent incidents in Okuoma, Okoloba, and Igbomotoru, stressing the need for region-specific security measures. “By pooling together our collective wisdom, experiences, and resources, we can devise strategies to prevent and mitigate future security threats,” he stated, underscoring the role of governors as chief security officers.
The governor also emphasized the importance of cooperation with the federal government and other regions. He called for federal interventionist agencies such as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to work more closely with state governments to align with local priorities.
In conclusion, Governor Diri expressed gratitude to the attending governors and stakeholders for their dedication to the region’s development.
“May this meeting be a turning point in our collective journey towards realizing our true potential. Together, let us rise above our challenges, seize our opportunities, and fashion a brighter future for our region,” he declared. https://www.channelstv.com/2025/01/28/okpebholo-absent-as-south-south-govs-meet-in-bayelsa/

Politics › Governor Abiodun Warns Against Establishment Of Sharia Court In Ogun by Leobankx(op): 8:06am On Jan 29, 2025 |
The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has warned against any attempt to establish a Sharia Court in the state. In a statement he signed on Tuesday, Abiodun noted that Sharia Courts cannot be legally constituted by individuals or groups without legal backing.
He said the state government only recognises courts established through the legal framework of the Nigerian Constitution, adding that a Sharia Court does not form part of the legal framework operating in the state.
“The Ogun State Government has noted the circulation of a digital notice announcing the launch of a Shari’ah Court in Ogun State,” Abiodun said.
“No Sharia Court is authorized to operate within Ogun State. The courts that are legally empowered to adjudicate disputes arising within Ogun State are those established by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or by State Laws, which are: Magistrates’ Courts, High Court, Customary Courts, Customary Court of Appeal, Federal High Court, National Industrial Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court.
“No law operating in Ogun State has established a Sharia Court, and Sharia law does not form part of the legal framework by which the Ogun State Government administers and governs society.
“The Ogun State Government upholds and protects the rights of individuals to practice the religion of their choice, or to subscribe to no religion, and recognizes the freedom of individuals to apply their faith in their personal and private matters.
“However, this freedom does not extend to the formation of unauthorized assemblies or institutions. No individual or group is legally permitted to constitute a court or present themselves to the public as a court without legal backing.
Those behind that notice have no legal backing. They cannot set up a court or administer justice by fiat or public notice.
“The Ogun State Government hereby directs that all persons involved in the creation or operation of this unauthorized court must immediately cease all related activities and disband the illegal entity and all its apparatus.
“”The Ogun State Government also advises members of the public to disregard any summons, documents, or persons associated with the illegal Sharia Court. Such occurrences should be promptly reported to the state.
“The Ogun State Government will uphold the rule of law, ensure respect for the legal and judicial framework within the State, and prevent a breakdown of law and order.” https://www.channelstv.com/2025/01/28/gov-abiodun-warns-against-establishment-of-sharia-court-in-ogun/

Politics › Sowore: Your Bail Condition Is Illegal – Femi Falana Blasts Nigeria Police by Leobankx(op): 6:24am On Jan 28, 2025 |
Nigerian human rights lawyer, Femi Falana SAN has said the bail condition for Omoyele Sowore’s release from police custody had been declared illegal.DAILY POST reports that Sowore, who was invited by the Nigeria Police on Monday, was asked to produce a level 16 civil servant and surrender his international passport as condition for his bail.
But Sowore, a popular activist and politician outrightly rejected the condition and opted to remain in custody.
In a recent update, Sowore said in a post on his official Facebook page that the team of Police officers assigned to the case, informed him that the DIG of FID, Dasuki Galandachi, has reevaluated his bail conditions.
According to Sowore, the condition has been slashed to only a surety of level 16 civil servant.
However, his lawyer, Falana said the condition had earlier been declared illegal by the Court of Appeal.
In a letter to the Nigeria Police, the lawyer said, “thanks for reducing the bail condition of Mr Omoyele Sowore to a surety of level 16.
“However, I wish to point out that such bail condition has been declared illegal by the Court of Appeal in the case of Dasuki V. Director-General, S.S.S. [2020]10 NWLR PT.1731 PG. 136-143 where Adah JCA (now JSC) held as follows: “Let me quickly say that of concern it is to us that as a court we must be ready and sensitive enough not to allow or do anything that will run foul of the law.
“The issue of involving civil servants or Public Officers in the Public Service of the Federation and the State in bail of people accused of criminal offences has never been the practice in Nigeria or any part of the civilized world.
“It was an oversight on our part to allow it in. Our Civil and Public Service Rules do not have any room for it. Expecting a Level 16 Servant to own property worth N100,000,000, will be running counter to the Public Service Rules and by extension the war against corruption.
“It is in this respect that I will act ex debito justitiae to ensure that the aspect of involving serving Public Servant below the status of Level 16 Officer in either the state or Public Service of the Federation or any of its agencies be removed and I so order.” https://dailypost.ng/2025/01/27/sowore-your-bail-condition-illegal-femi-falana-blasts-nigeria-police/

Politics › Why Kaduna Entered Peace Pact With Bandits — Gov Uba Sani by Leobankx(op): 6:48pm On Jan 27, 2025 |
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has defended the decision of his administration to enter a peace pact with terrorists in the state, stressing that his priority is preserving lives and ensuring peace.Governor Sani stated this in an interview with BBC Hausa Service while responding to critics of the initiative.
He clarified that the decision followed six months of dialogue and did not involve any payment to the terrorists.
“If even one person were to be killed in Kaduna, it’s better for me to have the peace pact. Otherwise, Almighty Allah will hold me accountable because I took an oath,” he said.
Sani emphasised that his administration did not offer any monetary incentive to the terrorists to secure the agreement.
“I want to assure you that not even one Naira was given to them,” he reiterated.
According to him, the peace pact was facilitated with the support of traditional rulers and religious leaders, who played a vital role during the six months of discreet negotiations.
Governor Sani noted that one of the preconditions for the reconciliation was the release of all captives held by the terrorists.
He revealed that approximately 200 individuals were freed as a result of the talks, which he believes signals the sincerity of the agreement.
“They released the people to us. Now, business and farming activities are flourishing in our communities. That’s why I am assuring the communities that we will continue to pray and sustain the relief achieved,” the governor said.
The governor expressed optimism that the peace pact would hold, citing the positive changes already evident in the state.
He assured Kaduna residents that his administration is committed to maintaining peace and fostering development.
The peace initiative has been met with mixed reactions but Governor Sani maintains that ensuring the safety and well-being of the people of Kaduna remains his top priority. https://dailypost.ng/2025/01/27/insecurity-why-we-entered-peace-pact-with-terrorists-kaduna-gov-sani/

Details of how six top Yoruba monarchs prevailed upon nonagenarian legal luminary Afe Babalola to drop his criminal defamation suit against human rights activist and lawyer Dele Farotimi have emerged. It was gathered that the Ooni of Ife, Enitan Ogunwusi, mobilised five other high-class traditional rulers to the Ado-Ekiti residence of Babalola on Sunday night.
The high-powered delegation includes the Ewi of Ado, Oba Rufus Adejugbe Aladesanmi III; Ajero of Ijero, Oba Adewole Joseph Adebayo; the Ogoga of Ikere, Oba Samuel Adejinmi Adu; Alaaye of Efon Alaaye, Oba Dr. Emmanuel Aladejare Agunsoye II; and the Olojudo of Ido Ekiti who doubles as Chairman, Ekiti Council Of Traditional Rulers, Oba Ilori Faboro.
The Ooni of Ife, along with prominent traditional rulers, arrived in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, minutes past 10 p.m. on Sunday.
Earlier in December, the police in Ekiti State arrested Farotimi at his Lagos office and bundled him to Ekiti State for prosecution.
The police arraigned the author for publishing a book, ‘Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System’ where he alleged that nonagenarian legal icon Afe Babalola corrupted the judiciary and procured a revised judgment in the Supreme Court.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges which bordered on criminal defamation levelled against him and was remanded in prison for three weeks before he was granted bail.
Upon their arrival at Babalola’s residence on Sunday night, the Ooni of Ife and the five top monarchs asked the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), to forgive Farotimi and withdraw the criminal defamation suit instituted against him.
Members of the legal team of Babalola handling Farotimi’s criminal case were also present at the meeting, according to a spokesman for the Ooni of Ife, Moses Olafare.
During the closed-door meeting which ended at past midnight, Babalola said he had gotten entreaties from former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Bishop Matthew Kukah and a host of other prominent Nigerians asking that he withdraw the case, but he did not.
However, the Ooni of Ife and the other monarchs persuaded the nonagenarian to withdraw the charges as an elder statesman with vast experience.
“Aare Afe Babalola, you are an elder statesman, you have seen it all, you are one of the iconic voices in this country, a great man per excellence, you are a rare breed who has excelled in everything you have touched in this life, a very God-fearing elder stateman, above all, you are one of the proponents of the Yoruba ethos of Omoluwabi which has been your strongest value that you hold in our country,” the Ooni told Babalola, according to Olafare.
“We’ve all come together as traditional Rulers to discuss with you on this issue and this gentleman Dele Farotimi is your son and you must forgive him and withdraw the criminal charges against him. As a father, you have soft sons and you have tough sons, Dele Farotimi is a tough son of yours. You have indeed made a point that your name can not be messed with.”
When asked to speak, Babalola accepted the request saying he grew up as a child to understand such interventions by the traditional rulers. He declared he had not only forgiven Farotimi but he would also instruct his lawyers to withdraw the criminal charges against him immediately.
“Today is an important day for me, I’m a Yoruba man and I’m very proud to be one. Ewi of Ado has come here to meet me on this matter, former president Obasanjo has intervened, same with Bishop Matthew Kukah and a host of other prominent Nigerians to ask for the exact thing you have come to ask for this evening., my answer to them has been ‘no’ but today my answer is ‘yes’.
“Your coming is unquantifiable in terms of money, who Am I? When the colonialists came here in the 17th century or thereabouts, they found as a fact that Yoruba land was a highly organised society with an advanced system of government with each town headed by an Oba who was regarded as a replica of God on earth. His words were commands.”
‘I Didn’t Win Cases Through Corruption’
Babalola said he has refused government appointments and rejected some so-called rewards because he doesn’t want anything to stain his integrity.
He said, “I was a lawyer who defended the EFCC law, yes I’m corrupt, I was given an oil block. When I looked at the money and saw that it was too much, I rejected it, yes I’m corrupt. I was offered ministerial appointments twice, I rejected it. Yes, I’m corrupt because whatever I am, I don’t want anybody to say I made it through corruption.
“Look at my books, I’m Chairman, Transparency International based in Germany, I have given lectures against corruption with my papers in many universities globally.
“For someone to allege that I have won my cases through corruption, it’s an attempt to defame me. That was why I rejected all appeals earlier made to me. But when I heard that Ooni was coming, I knew I was in a fix today.
“There is nothing I’m going to gain from his (Dele) imprisonment and there’s nothing I want from the so-called damages. I am not in quest of more wealth, I’m rather concerned about managing the one I have already. Dele Farotimi is hereby forgiven. On this occasion, I say ‘yes’.” https://www.channelstv.com/2025/01/27/how-ooni-five-monarchs-persuaded-babalola-to-discontinue-farotimis-case-palace/Previous Thread: https://www.nairaland.com/8327364/alleged-defamation-afe-babalola-withdraws

Politics › Terrorists Likely Funded By Foreign Sponsors, They Have Hard Currencies – CDS by Leobankx(op): 1:10pm On Jan 25, 2025 |
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa has said that the possibility of terrorists getting sponsorship from other countries cannot be ruled out.In an interview with Channels TV, the CDS substantiated his claim by revealing that some of the terrorists arrested in the Northeast were caught with foreign currencies.
He suspected that some countries envious of Nigeria may have been funding terrorism in the country, insisting that not every foreigner is happy with the nation.
He said, “When we arrested some of them in the Northeast, they were having hard currencies to change. How did they get those monies?
“People don’t understand that a lot of countries are envious of Nigeria. I remember that some people said we were not going to survive more than 2015 but this is 2025 and we are still surviving.
“People have to understand that not everyone is happy with you, that you are developing”.
He, however, noted that sometimes, the bloodthirsty criminals “get funding from kidnapping, armed robbery and all these things they do but you can’t rule out the possibility of external funding”. https://dailypost.ng/2025/01/25/terrorists-have-hard-currencies-chief-of-defence-staff-suspects-foreign-sponsorship/

Politics › Re: I’m Not Expecting Favour From Abuja Courts – Nnamdi Kanu by Leobankx(m): 6:38am On Jan 25, 2025 |
But in all fairness to Nnamdi Kanu, the courts haven't been fair to him at all although he might also have had a role to play in that, he jumped bail and was on the run until his arrest again so they both deserve each other. |
