I need your advice urgently.

I rented a self-contained apartment in Lagos, and my rent is valid until the end of October this year. Just recently, I was informed that the landlord has sold the house.

Now here’s what happened:
• They refunded half of my rent (without my prior agreement),
• And issued me a 3-month notice to vacate.

I never agreed to terminate my tenancy early or to receive a refund — they just gave me the money and served the notice. I feel like I’m being indirectly forced out before the agreed expiration date of my rent.

Please, I want to know:
1. Is this legal under Lagos tenancy law?
2. Can they harass or pressure me out of the house since it’s now sold?
3. What steps can I take if I want to stay until my rent expires in October?

I’ve heard that once rent is paid and acknowledged, even a new landlord must honour the agreement. Is this true?

Please, lawyers and those familiar with Lagos tenancy law, I’d appreciate your input. I don’t want to be bullied or treated unfairly and also 3 months is too short for me

First of all what on earth will make you accept the refund. Is the refund with you or not. If it's with you then you can't have your refund and still be fighting to remain in the house. You accepted refund allow 3 months notice to run down and now you saw you cant meet up you are tunning to nairaland. Why noylt raise alarm 3months ago while rejecting the refund. But if you didn't collect the refund go to court.

What the coalition is not selling are practical solutions to current challenges. Can they tell us their contract with the people?

Among those in the coalition are politicians who lost out in the 2023 elections, those who were not returned to Buhari's government in 2019, those without electoral gravitas who only became relevant because of Buhari, those with EFCC cases, those who slapped people in shops, those who lost control of their own parties.

Let journalists ask the coalition partners if they'd support whoever wins the presidential ticket. Let us also wonder why ADC message is only at the national level. Won't they participate in state elections?

If you call Teaching Hospitals the core of specialist care then you referring to a small portion because when cases are presented at the community and primary health care level for early detection and intervention they are less likely to deteriorate and require specialist care.

Again, most of the health facilities fall under state and private category and are less likely to comply. As a matter of fact, same NMA members will be referring their clients to their private facilities so who are they deceiving when they say they are on strike yet working and ripping off the Nigerian public?
