This is true for carburetor engines, not sure if it works for modern engines. The mass airflow (MAF) sensor helps optimize engine efficiency (and fuel economy) when air filter is dirty

well you said v8 are all built for power no lies about that wen it come to aggression and fastness but wat u dont also know is that they do less fuel on longer distance and steady rev this is due to the slow engine circle (for an i4 engine combustion is very fast season bn is that 1342 the distance from the plug the piston t father then a v8 engine i think the only i can explan to you realy well is to invite you to my workshop so i can show u better and then we both put it to a test as well

1, i said on longer distance a v6, v8, v12 etc will consume less way less fuel than any i4 engine on a steady rev eg let say i am driving a range with a standard engine 4.4 or 5.0 and you av a corolla of same year and we both heading to ibadan so to say ,both cars on 100 or 140 kph and like i said both cars on a steady rev the big engine will do way less fuel than the 4cy reason is very simple at that speed the ecu of each of the cars re-regulate the injection of fuel in the engine ( for the v8 it reduces the spary to drops on the steady moment at 140kph while for the ecu intends spray move fuel to keep up at that speed on the same steady rev (lets at 100 kph u were consuming 100% at steady rev then u increase to 140 kph at thesame steady rev wld u belive that the i4 engine consumption of fuel will btw 90% to 110% while the v6 or v8 will do less of 60% but if dnt agree with this then am all ears to ur explanation with poof

it is true that longer journeys use less fuel per kilometer compared to shorter journeys.
with regards to to the fuel gauge not moving after filling up driving for a while, this is what happens;
(a). your fuel level gauge (sender) is a float usually attached the fuel pump assembly which rises and falls as your fuel level rises and falls.
there is a lot of space above that float which fuel goes into right up to fuel receptacle.
the float will not move until all the fuel stored here is used up (on some cars, this is up to ten liters).
the float will only start moving after all that fuel on top of it is used up.
and as soon as it starts moving, it really moves. this gives car owners the wrong impression that their cars use more fuel after the fuel gauge has left the full mark.
