Explained.

Please negotiate well with the producers so that the little monies would worth the efforts.
The key point to note here is that we need to not only be sure that there is indeed a niche in the market but also that there are enough customers out there who might buy the product. Also, that we can reach enough of them, within our marketing budget/plan, to make a profit.

karin001 has already said sth along this line before.

Karin,

Is tomorrow still feasible? We have less than 24 hours & details are not yet available.

Are producers not forthcoming with agreements?

The wait is eerie.
Sir, you just spoke/wrote down my mind

Thanks for your efforts.

In actually fact, perfection is only found in God.
There's nothing completely without a grey area. Moreso, choices vary. All we need do is to focus on the important properties that will promote the biz ' cos if we keep digging, we'll definitely continue to find more cons. This will impede/ complicate the decision making.

Wish Karin will address these issues for good.
For me I prefer the nutrientrich but anyone karin001 and others choose is okay by me.

Another observation from two different shops...

Fairy's Doughnuts
* It is good and they like it so much.
* It well packed, the taste is okay.

Nutrientrich Doughnuts
* It is also good and they like it.
* The packaging is not too good, if water touches it, it will be exposed to air which is not too good for this type of business. They shouldn't use gum seal but heat seal.

Generally, the two are both okay.

I'm just coming back from some shops I visited in my area this morning.

I showed them the samples...

They said nutrientrich doughnuts is not well done/prepared but it is okay, it taste good in the mouth and it a doughnuts. But it not well done as in, it has done well.

And then for fairy, it is breaking as in dropping in pieces when eating it and seems more like bread.

They preferred nutrientrich doughnuts more but it hasn't done well that's the complain they had.

They advised I should first start with the chin-chin first and then add doughnuts to it because they will buy more of the chin-chin than the doughnuts.( This is just the research on few shops)

I wish I could get to some schools today but it the weekend.

I have like 10 doughnuts with me, if you are interested in the samples you can mention me, and you stay around alimosho axis.. (iyana-paja, ikotun and egbeda etc)

Happy Independence Day and Happy new month

The Report of today's outing..

Nutrientrich and Fairy's Doughnuts.

1) Taste: They both taste good, but nutrientrich is sweeter because it has more jam and sugar which will be preferably for student while fairy has lesser jam and it moderate for adult, it has lesser sugar and jam.

2) Size: They are both of the same size, when you look at it closely fairy's size is bigger.. (A little bit)

3) Packaging: The packaging is good.

4) Location: Madam karin001 needs to discuss with them concerning the location because it will not be easy to spend 600 naira from my place to ojodu. Nutrientrich said they will be opening a new location at ikotun which will be better for some of us from alimosho environs.

5) Price: karin001 has already told us about the price.

I guess that all for now.

Karin, I am happy about your reviewed stance on micro loans assistance to interested participants who are indigent.

I wish to commit to helping 5 participants with interest free loan not exceeding 20k each, repayable at the end of March 2017.

How this will be disbursed will be entirely at your discretion.

Finally, among the 5 beneficiaries must be lexaydfg. He has demonstrated commitment and tenacity in this project. I await your approval and further instructions.

Thank you.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyy!!!!!! I am very happy now.

Thanks and God bless you

Thanks for the guidance. I will try it later in the day.
I also think you should be there by 4.00pm. take a bus from Iyana Ipaja To Agege and then a tricycle or a bus to Ojodu/Berger and drop at Omole Bus stop.

You can't miss it. But remember that you must get to the location and particular shop by 4.00pm. Remember that there are no phone contacts and you guys have to be there at exactly 4.00pm.

But for you lexaydfg, you must be there
okay, I will be there.

Hi,
At this point, you have to adopt desperate measures.

Karin is not comfortable with getting involved with money in this project, it's obvious.

Try reaching out directly to Allstrasse, if he could make that wonderful promise out of his own volition, he could consider helping you if he's convinced of your sincerity and commitment. You have nothing to lose by trying.
Good luck.
Thanks

I will love to be there but I don't know the place. I'm new in Lagos and I am familiarizing my self with few places because of job interview.

If someone can give me the description to the place from iyana paja, I am good to go then.

Madam karin001, you see that someone has spoken about that loan, I know you don't want to exchange contact with people but I really need it to venture into this business. Just look at the time I'm still awake thinking of ways to raise money before next week. I even took my laptop to a friend yesterday so I can sell it, he said 12000 naira because the battery and one keypad is bad. Please, look into that loan matter.

Concerning the location, someone should please described the place for me from iyana-paja.

It easy to post pictures nah, though i habe never done it. When you want to post a picture, just click on reply after loading, stroll down you will see choose and pick the picture you want to upload on nairaland and then you submit. Make sure you meet the basic requirement when uploading i.e maximum size: 4MB for pictures.

Karin001:
The recommended retail price (RRP) is 50.00. that is what the consumer pays for the product. As a distributor you will have the products discounted for you so that you can make something for yourself. So between the Price you buy it for and the recommended retail price you have your profit lodged between. This profit will always look ridiculously small when looking at it from the angle of singularity. But when you look at it in terms of volume then you marvel at the profitability of the product. Welcome to FMCG, small margins per unit multiplied by large volumes.
Thanks

Basically the details karin gave:

That the doughnuts are jam filled
I supply the School vendors, who would sell at #50 to students, while vendors make their profit.

As regards my selling price, I took advantage of the present fluctuating dollar rate as the reason why I can't give a certain price, at least until next week when I get the products, but told them it'll be worth their while.

Of course not having a sample of the doughnut and also price would hinder marketing for now. My aim was to have a good knowledge of my potential customers now and lunch into full selling mode next week with the necessary details.

Note: Madam karin is yet to inform us of the purchase price, except if I missed it.
Thanks

I visited several schools yesterday and here are my findings:

*Government primary schools(at least the few I went) don't allow sales of snacks any longer. Said its not healthy eating habit for the little kids and so food vendors are restricted to offering just cooked food and fruits(saw one selling groundnut though).

*Government secondary school. A food vendor is ready to commence business with me as soon as I'm ready, (I pray that doesn't change)

*A private school (both primary and secondary) is interested as well.

*Few private schools asked for samples

*Other schools already have doughnut suppliers.

I thank God on my hits and need your advice/suggestions on the ones missed. I plan on continuing today by His grace.

Also, ..... As anyone taken Mafoluku yet?

@Olutoyin aren't you interested. It's just across Ajao estate and shouldn't be difficult to reach since you reside in ejigbo..... Just saying.
Please, what do you tell those schools you went to yesterday?

Madam karin001, I'm a little bit confused pertaining to the pricing.

You made mention that the doughnuts will be sold to us at 50:00 naira by the company, when selling it to schools and the rest, will I sell it 50 naira also or should I increase the price to 60 naira.

Lexaydfg, Your preferred territory will have to exclude territories already allocated to others. Iyana Ipaja to Ikotun is too far for the volume of business we are going to do.

Please concentrate around Iyan Ipaja and let us know where you can add territories so that there is no conflict amongt participants. Kindly advise us as per where we can add to Iyana Ipaja.
I stay at isheri-igando, so it should be added and it not too far from egbeda.

Isheri-igando should be added.

Thanks

Good morning ma, how was the weekend and your family? I hope you are fine?

I feel very shy and this is not my thing to say this but I just have to do it. The man that says he can borrow us money please I am interested in it, so that I can be involved in the FMCG you introduced, I have already indicated my interest on the thread and the location but my challenge is sourcing for funds.

I don't have any savings on me, and there is no one I can borrow money from, I have asked my mum she doesn't have and my friends.

Please, can you consider this and I'm sure there are others like me that are interested but don't have the 20,000 naira, and this is a great opportunity I don't want it to pass me by.

I know it not good to borrow money in other to start a business but I don't have any money on me, I have been thinking about it throughout the weekend.

I will be expecting your feedback ma, thank you once again for this opportunity you have given us, may God continue to bless you.

To move us into a higher gear, I will suggest that after getting to this stage those who may be interested in participating in this project should indicate with a post that will just mention their area in Lagos and also describe the market as he/she perceives it be as it relates to this project and the product in question.

We do not need too many people per area. We must provide enough room for each participant to grow his business into profitability.
I suppose we can use this weekend to conclude on the people that will work in the various areas.

Please your comments and opinions are welcome at this stage.
I'm interested in participating in this project, as earlier stated. My areas are around alimosho LGA... Iyana paja, ikotun, isheri-igando, egbeda, lasu etc. Atleast for now I will start with this areas, starting from my locality.

There are lots of schools, banks and shops to visit in this areas. We can use this places to test run the project for now before expanding to other areas in alimosho.

I started reading this thread around 5pm and now I am here....

First and foremost, I want to appreciate the effort of karin001, may God bless you. This is what I have been praying and searching for some time. To start-up a business and someone to mentor me, this is the right place to be.

Pertaining to the products you say we should mention, I haven't done a deep research about the business but I have been thinking about it.

PACKAGING OF LOCUST BEANS... Don't really know much about the business but this is what I have been thinking. what's your take on it?

Please, karin001, I am ready to learn and interested when the project start up even if I have to borrow to start this business. I really need to start doing something with my life and forget about gaining employment but rather be self-employed .

Once again thanks for this thread.. I'm following this thread and you(karin001,rose75,egopersonifined, blackie and others) May God bless you all.
The doughnut and chin-chin business is a welcome idea,
you have excelled in the distribution of this product. You have done it in Lagos and Port Harcourt successfully. You already know the product well, you know the market well and you know the ups and downs of the business.
Madam karin001, please I'm interested in doing this business, my spirit, soul and body is interested and with determination and patience I believe I will thrive in this business, I stay around alimosho axis( I.e iyana paja, ikotun, egbeda, isheri-igando, lasu etc).

I'm a newbie in this business but with your help ma and other great people on this thread I believe we shall make it. The little experience I have is, my friend and I go to different shops in lagos to market lapel brooch and bowties and I have also sold pop-corn in banks with my cousins bro.

I believe alimosho axis is a good place to do this business, there are many schools, supermarket, banks and even shops in my area I can talk to and hopefully with time I should be able to sell 20 bags and more daily.

The challenge that one can face is just yourself.. I read some where on this thread that says no one can stop you from succeeding but yourself, so I don't think there is any challenge that can stop you but yourself.

Please ooo... I still dey talk am ooo... I wan participate for this business abeg ooo....

Thanks and God bless madam karin001 and everyone that has contributed positively to my life.

Yeeeeey!!!!! I see my self making it in this business....
