Politics / Re: Fresh Electricity Tariff Hike Looms, Nigeria’s Monthly Power Subsidy Hits N181.B by lexy2014: 9:37pm

Something that costs over 160 naira per kWh you want to sell it at less than 70 naira per kWh because we are poor.?

So how would the power sector pay for improvement when it loses 90 naira or more per kWh of power sold?

pls what then is subsidy that the topic is talking about?

Seems you have a problem with English language. I said I personified the driver.

If he is accused and held in custody , he still will be able to meet bail conditions.

Do you have a lawyer friend? Meet with them and let them tell you how the law views issues.

You are using emotions and hearsay to judge. The court of law does not see that.

I dont see anywhere you answered any of my questions despite you dont have a problem with english language.

1. did the court decide before you concluded that "no offence was committed"? yes or no

2. what does it mean for a person to drive without a license?

3. did the driver of the vehicle adhere to the required speed limit for the road where the accident took place? yes or no

since you are not using "emotions and hearsay to judge", how did you know that there is a "he"?

what will this "he" be accused of that will require being held in custody and bail?

how do you know that this "he" has a lawyer as you said in your previous posts?

why should "he" be accused of anything and put in custody if you say "no offence was committed"?

did a journalist tell you all this or you are using emotions and hearsay to judge?

Any sense Nigerian or African can stand up to fight for the freedom of any of African and the world.

the topic says "Nigerian man" and did not specify his tribe. you are the one who chose to give it an ethnic colouration and you saying "don't incite any tribal issues here".

Hello, I personified gender of victim to make my point clear!

Is Nigeria a Banana republic? The court has the final say!

Freedom from any accusation that could be leveled against him/her.

What am telling you is not hearsay! It is standard law practice.

The fact that I shot someone dead in your presence does not mean I killed that person. Can you prove it in the court of law.

It’s glaring you have not seen or had cases. You think the court believes in your words. Show me he drove at high speed? What if they later tell you he had a learners permit?

Never judge a case by your emotions. The law is blind.

that is not what I asked you.

1. how did you conclude that there is a "he"?

2. where you at the accident scene and you saw a "he"?

3. who is the "he" you are referring to?

It’s legally binding that he is innocent till proven guilty. Had that point, no offense has been level against him by ANY court.

How did you know he does not have a license. Which court told you that? Nairaland?

How did you know he was adhering to speed limits? Do you have video evidences or speedometer that captured his speed?

That’s how people beat cases. The court of law counts on verifiable evidences. Not word of mouth!

Imagine you telling his lawyer he was driving at high speed and you been asked to provide evidences you did say you heard from someone.

You have not been to the court before and don’t know how the court views issues. It’s based on hardcore verifiable evidences.

who is the "he" that you say is "innocent till proven guilty"?

who is the "his" that has a lawyer?

where did you see lawyer?

once again, read again. it seems you didnt understand the comment you responded to.

the drivers committed traffic offences like driving without a license and over speeding which led to the deaths of their friends. so the police was doing the right thing.

but just the way they didnt need to be told to arrest the drivers, they didnt need to be told to take care of the survivors, the corpses and do the needful in contacting the families

Has it been proven that he does not have a drivers license? It still does not make him instantaneously make him a criminal.

Even people who pulled the trigger point blank in the face of 100 witnesses still had to be proven guilty.

They did nothing right!
The first thing they should haver done was apply first aid assuming they know one otherwise they radio NEMA or the relevant authorities first before taking the surviving victims to the hospital to ascertain they have no internal injuries or complications from the accident and after that they can be questioned to determine the root cause. You just don't put someone who came out of such a situation on handcuffs. The way some of u reason just clearly shows we really deserve all of what we are getting from Nigeria

did the drivers commit any traffic offence?

Nigerian police are useless. Trying to arrest people that just had an accident? People who lost loved one? No investigation to even know the cause. Who does that, not even trying to ensure that they are ok, not trying to ensure that the there might be survivor amongst the dead.
They saw that accident as an opportunity of extortion. Very inhumane set of people. Useless pricks

Politics / Re: 10 Things To Know About Edo Governor-elect Monday Okpebholo by lexy2014: 6:38pm
InfoGuru118:

Credit: https://news360ng.com/10-things-to-know-about-monday-okpebholo-edo-governor-elect/

1. Early life: Born in 1970 in Uromi, Edo State, Okpebholo was raised in a modest family that instilled values of integrity and diligence, shaping his character and career.

Every politician that has ravaged and plundered this country and still in the business of doing so, were all "raised in a modest family that instilled values of integrity and diligence, shaping his character and career".

how has he exhibited these "values of integrity and diligence" in his public life?

2. Education: He began his education in local schools in Uromi and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Benin.

He also holds a Master’s in Public Administration and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan.

he has a Ph.d and Oshiomole was doing the talking for him almost through out his campaign. the few times he spoke, he cause commotion making people to question whether or not the man actually knows what he is doing.

same as No. 1. going to school is no guarantee that a person will be a good public servant. we have seen it over and over again and its funny that many nigerians still focus on that instead of the character of the person and his or her level of patriotism.

3. Entrepreneurial ventures:Beyond his political career, Okpebholo is an entrepreneur with investments in hospitality, construction, oil and gas, and agriculture.

what are the names of these ventures? when did he start them? was it before he became a politician? even if not, how is that a guarantee that he will be a successful governor?

4. Philanthropic efforts: Through the Monday Okpebholo Foundation, he has committed resources to charitable initiatives, including scholarships, healthcare services, and vocational training for underserved communities.

were all these done for political gain or out of genuine altruism?

5. Personal life: Okpebholo maintains strong ties to his roots in Edo State and is a devoted family man, married with four children.

6. Political beginnings: His political journey began in 2003 when he was elected to the House of Representatives as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Before becoming Governor-elect, he held several political positions, showcasing his leadership skills and commitment to public service.

He is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a prominent political party in Nigeria, which played a crucial role in his election campaign.

what did he achieve as a federal legislator as dictated by the constitution?

7. Advocacy: Throughout his political career, Okpebholo has been a strong advocate for agriculture, rural development, and legislative reforms, working diligently to address the needs of his constituents.

can you provide evidence of him actually advocating for agriculture, rural development, and legislative reforms and working diligently to address the needs of his constituents through out his political career?

what is the work he did for his constituents?

8. Faith: A devout Christian, he is an active member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), reflecting his commitment to faith-based community service.

Just like number 1, going to church is no guarantee of good character. like they say, there is no difference between the church and the world these days.

9. Achievements: Okpebholo’s dedication to excellence in both business and politics, along with his focus on inclusive growth and support for marginalized communities, has earned him considerable respect.

how is what you stated "achievements"?

10. Vision for Edo State: As governor, Okpebholo envisions a prosperous and inclusive Edo State. His campaign prioritized development, economic empowerment, and sustainable growth, aiming to benefit all residents and future generations.

did he during his campaign clearly set out how he is going to achieve this vision? what are his plans for achieving his vision?
