alphonsoolajide: Man’s Body Remains Unburied for 5 Years as Wives and Children Battle Over Property
A disturbing story shared on social media has reignited conversations around the dangers of polygamy in Nigeria.
A Nigerian woman, identified on X (formerly Twitter) as @Anambra_girl, revealed that her friend’s late father has remained unburied for almost five years due to an ongoing feud between his two wives and their children over the distribution of his property. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
According to her, the man had been married to two wives before his passing. Since his death, both women and their respective children have been locked in a bitter fight over who gets what, making it impossible to agree on burial arrangements.
Shockingly, she revealed that the properties have been left to rot due to neglect. Even the will the man left behind—naming trusted friends and his lawyer as executors—has failed to resolve the matter.
“,” she added.
https://x.com/Anambra_girl/status/1954271704496439422?t=bknokol0jKpc7dh69tYcKw&s=19
The revelation sparked outrage and sympathy online, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences of family disputes in polygamous homes.
Some reactions include:
@OnyeAguata: “Nobody in the entire family ever loved the man. So nobody ever said they should set their greed aside and bury the man first ?”
@MeduFavour: “Pls don’t advise anybody 😂 who get body make he or she put body, they will feel it.”
The case serves as a grim reminder of the potential chaos polygamy can bring when there is no unity, and why proper estate planning—and execution—is crucial.
https://eyesoflagos.com/mans-body-remains-unburied-for-5-years-as-wives-and-children-battle-over-property/ There's nothing wrong with polygamy except the evil the female gender brings to bear on mankind. Ever wonder when a woman has children from different men, those very children are united and live in peace? But when a man has children for different women, each woman indoctrinate thier child to see the other and their father as evil? The thing with polygamy is the men chose to not teach women their place. |

Onegai: There's a book I'll recommend and please take reading it VERY seriously:
Stormie Omartian "Power Of A Praying Husband".
Read it, Pray every single prayer at the end of each chapter. Open your Bible and start studying Scripture on Forgiveness and Love. The Bible is a book about Love. Ask God to show you your wife's heart the way He sees it. She's shut down emotionally from you.
Then you need to work on your anger and need to resort to violence. Love means submission and Apostle Paul tells us to submit to each other. So you need to find out who you are in Christ Jesus (because change is very hard and we don't want you resorting to violence ever again).
I'm glad you regret it, next step is repentance.
When you get home, phone should be on silent or vibrate, you sit with your woman and do whatever she's doing. Gist with her. If she says she wants to eat grilled fish, don't buy it and bring home, tell her to go make herself pretty because you want to take her out.
Treat her like a fresh new bride, because your old marriage NEEDS to die. It wasn't a good one.
When you feel the anger and impatience rising (violence is the last resort of a weak man), you walk away and turn to prayer. Then come back calmly. She needs to give you Respect, not Fear. A lot of men think they're the same, they're not: Respect is rooted in Love, Fear thrives in Hate. And Fear means she will be waiting for the right time to strike you back, one day. So make her love and respect you, slapping her around breeds her fear.
Tell yourself "she is mine, my church and I will love her like Christ loved the church". That means when she's getting on your last nerve, you tell yourself and her "I love you, I'm not going to let the devil use me to destroy my blessing. You're my blessing!". Keep saying it till you believe it.
It will take time and patience, which is good training for you to learn how not to resort to quick anger and violence.
The intimacy will come back. Better than before sef, you won't have time for us on Nairaland
Brother, you're going to make your wife fall in love with you again. Doable and possible, the love will even be sweeter. Commit it to God and come back with your testimony.
PS: today, go and buy her lunch or dinner (fried rice and turkey, with salad and dodo ), get a scrap of paper and write "Songs of Solomon 1:15", put it on the food. Drop it beside her, don't say anything.
Another day, when she's done bathing and is dressing up, creaming her body, make sure you're in the room always. But act like you're not looking. Then send her Songs Of Solomon 7:1-9 after she's done dressing. So she knows you were admiring her nekkidness to the point that you needed to go and read Bible
You'll be messing with her small small, working on yourself, showing her you're a better man now, who's completely in love with her.
It'll work. you need prayers more than he does |

tollyboy5: It's legal lol. We have CDAs and LCDAs. Whatever law that was agreed on in the CDA meeting for the community is legal. That is why CDA chairman gets gets government backing to large extent. They regulate community, this is not new in Lagos by CDA you mean Development centres. They and the local governments cannot enact any bill on criminality. What a state of Nigeria determines as a crime are all codified in the penal codes and criminal codes which local government and CDAs cannot legislate on. So my dear, in Nigeria not paying security levies is not a crime and if anyone use threat of arrest to collect such money, it becomes a criminal matter. Drop your sentiments on the front door, we're talking law |

tollyboy5: You're just speaking Grammer. ₦1k for security is a big deal to you? The op is the kind of person that cause confusion in the community. There are several landlords there, and people who has been in the area when the whole thing started. He might just be a new tenant wanting to disrupt process. That's what stubborn tenant do. In my hood also, we've witnessed crises in the past, robbery, gunshot and death of our neighbours. Several meetings were hold over years, me, my uncle and my pman with other landlord at a certain time did shifting to secure our street. Same thing with other streets mostly during the lockdown period. Now we have gate and security money everyone contribute. As far as the security men are well paid and were safe why will a new tenant who don't know the history of how things came to be want to disrupt the process? there's no grammar there. We are talking of the legality here. And Nigeria is where it is because of people like you and many of the commenters here. If I were in that community I will pay of course but if you give me the impression it is mandatory, I will challenge it. It should be a voluntary and transparent exercise. The money is not the issue. People contribute money all the time for community projects and all. . The point is you don't have the right to take money from people with the mindset that you can or it is your right and you have any powers to do so and enforce punishment. It is this una village mindset naim let Police Road Safety Army Customs Dey task people for road and community because you are ruled by sentiments and not law |

dominique: A community with up to 3,000 houses is not a remote area, it's a densely packed area. Honestly I don't believe they're even up to 300 houses in your area. You're not privy to the number of houses with occupants or the exact salary the security men are receiving, what makes you think you're being extorted by being asked to pay 1k? very disappointed in your opinion, Dominique. This is extortion under the guise of security levy. Any monies for security should and must be voluntary. failure/refusal to pay does not amount to a crime and if anyone is being threatened with arrest or deprivation of his property for not paying then it is: *. Criminal Harassment * Extortion * Threatening Illegal Arrest/Detention There's no law which requires citizens to subsidize security for the government whose first and sole responsibility is to safeguard life and property. And yes, the crime of extortion is not determined by the amount being extorted; it is materially irrelevant whether it be 1k or 1 Million. You're a long standing moderator here and I am very disappointed at your worldview and sense of basic law. |

EkenmaPeter: I was opportune to spend some few month in my community and i was told some people will be going house to house to collect security fee 1k per building. failing to comply the person house will be locked. he will be arrested and hand over to the police (community divisional headquarter) , mind you the place have a divisional police headquarter in the community, and there is more than 3k to 5k residential building in the area, meaning they will be making close to 3million per month then pay 5 to 6 people 15k per month as salary.
so i am asking is this thing legal, and if i refuse to pay , what crime will i be charge with when taking to the police. also there is a lot of corruption in the people heading the issue.
so my question, is it legal?, this area is a remote place with a business salary that cant be more than 15k to 25k per month. it is extortion and criminal. It should be voluntary even though we have over time in community level begin to subsidize security for our government. It's a shame. But if you're compelled to pay security levy with the threat of arrest or deprivation of your property, it is criminal and it is extortion. The money goes to the private pockets of the community chairman, CSO and one or two top police officers |

Lastly ,newly recruit didn't state when he was recruited or the battles he has fought .
I'm not sure there's any law that say a soldier will stay in the Barack for some period after recruitment before they go to the battlefield. Even as you openly contradict yourself and shift the goalpost, it seems you're the type who will never admit to be wrong publicly out of sheer pride. |

After the thrill wears off. They start to lament about the pay. ironically they are paid well by Nigerian standards. It boils down to orientation. The average army/soldier /military sees himself above civil ruels and regulations and above the police which is the chief law enforcement agency. That's their default orientation. The overuse of the army as local law enforcement by the last administration didn't help matters |

joseph1832: Lezz Lezz. Take it easy man. Lol.
Though the irony is, if a man sleeps with a woman's daughter, her sister, he's usually hailed as a champ. Reverse is the case if it concerns a woman. women control sex, men control relationship. For a man to sleep with multiple women is tough and very difficult, whereas for a woman to sleep with multiple men is easy. All she has to do is say yes to a man's advances which she gets everyday. So society rightly set the standards for a woman with high body count to be easy and useless and undesirable. It is for this reason women don't care about a man's sexual past, they care about his ability to protect and provide. Matter of fact for a man to score a high body count, he has to be rich, or very valuable in those women's eyes. The reverse is the case for women: if she has a high body count, then she's easy and a public meat. |

The dude wants a submissive and obedient woman not the one who took up the responsibility of a man! For real men don't actually care about the education or financial powers of their female partner, they care much about loyalty, exclusivity amd obedience. A woman who saw her partner through school will havei little or no respect for that man. In reverse if a man sponsors an illiterate female to higher institution, she will see the bigger world and thinks she can do better than her partner and jump ship as is in the nature of the average female. Tough reality. |
