Education / JAMB Announces Official Cut Off Mark For 2024 UTME by lianoene: 9:15pm On Jan 15
JAMB cut-off marks act as a standard measure to assess the performance of candidates in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). These marks vary across different institutions and courses, reflecting the competitiveness of various programs.

Factors Influencing JAMB Cut-off Marks:

Several factors influence the determination of JAMB cut-off marks for the 2024 admissions process:

Institutional Policies: Each tertiary institution has the autonomy to set its own cut-off marks based on internal considerations such as the capacity of the institution, historical admission trends, and academic standards.

Course Requirements: Cut-off marks may differ based on the nature of the course. Highly competitive courses, such as Medicine and Law, often have higher cut-off marks compared to other programs.

UTME Performance: The overall performance of candidates in the UTME contributes to the determination of cut-off marks. This includes scores in the compulsory subjects as well as relevant subjects for chosen courses.

Education / ASUU Strike Suspended – ASUU Referendum Yields Positive Result by lianoene: 11:24pm On Feb 07, 2019
The news all over the country right now is the question has ASUU called off strike? As every well meaning Nigerian, not just the lecturers, the students and their parents had all being anxiously waiting to know what the outcome of the talks between the federal government and the striking lecturers will result to.

After the most recent negotiation between the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, the academic body fixed Thursday, the 7th day of February to vote on a referendum whether or not they will call off the strike.

If your question as regards the outcome of the striking lectures meeting is has ASUU called off strike? The immediate response will not be a yes or a no, as the ASUU referendum has yielded a positive result, but the strike has not definitely been called off but has been suspended.

Nigerians and students, in particular, are greeting the news with mixed feeling and reactions as they pronouncement of suspension to many is different from the expected pronouncement of a total calling off of the four to almost five months old strike.

Many are of the opinion that the lecturers had been compensated by the federal government and lured into suspending the strike so as to give the Nigerian populace a good view of the present administration and thereby end some votes in favour of the incumbent government.

However, one thing is settled, and that is the fact that the real issues leading to the commencement of the strike have not been fully resolved. The core of which is the poor funding of the tertiary institutions owned and managed by the States and Federal Government in Nigeria is still not fully sorted out. The money demanded for by the striking lecturers for the infrastructure of the institutions have only been agreed to be paid for by the least expected fraction that for many are not acceptable.

The question then of has ASUU called off the strike if answered yes will be a misnormal in the part of the person that answers it in the affirmative. Another issue that is yet to be resolved and not talked about in the outcome of the meetings between the party mediating for the federal government which is led by the minister of Education, Adamu Adamu and the striking lecturers is that about the federal allocation to the education sector as the over the years, with a concrete example of the current year appropriation bill, part of funds that are to be budgeted to the education sector are being used for some other things, like that of this year being allocated for the conduct of the elections...... continue reading===}}}https://www.mycareergist.com/ASUU-strike-suspended/
