Hello House,

I have being following this thread for quite a while now. Finally decided to do my solar project. Intend to hit above 6kwh from start. I need a trusted vendor to do this with. After seen a lot of guys here. I intend to pitch with zeestone99 based on your recommendation on his work quality and after sale support.

Can anyone kindly advise on his commitment especially those he has worked forhuh?
I recommend zeestone99 anytime; anyday. I transferred money to him without meeting him and he did come.
Did my installation and I was enjoying it perfectly until I decided to try Kiekie1 and his refurbished unit; that landed me in serious trouble.
Zeestone99 has finished his installation a long time ago; but we still chat everyday on different solar topics and discussions
That's one thing about him; his post-installation support is top-notch.
Unlike Kiekie that will collect money and that's the end.

Mr K K; i will come and drop your "expensive brick" for you.
it is such a shame that it failed barely 36 hours into use and by the pictures and description;
an internal circuitry problem which should be covered by your warranty.
I know you are money-oriented and you smirk of shadiness but I am not even asking for my money back (which i have a right to)
but I only ask that you accept it, and fix it and we move on, like nothing happened.
Remember, I posted about the SOC data not displaying . . . which has now dawned on me
as an internal circuit issue; but can be ignored
But total charge failure will not be ignored.
You should work on your after sales support, money is not everything my friend . . .
Reputation and honesty should be!
1st impression lasts longer !

No he didn't, infact before the upgrade was a 30amp pwm cc, the fault is from the controller,
In fact that same 30amp pwm is now standing gallantly on duty; revolutionary soldier on the hourly !

Thanks for the clarification...
I hope Dmerciful suggestion work out... You may give that a try....
Make I dey manage my PWM for now..
The problem is to see a qualified technician (one closeby at that)

Seems the powertube has failed and as such shunted to directly connect panels to battery. Replace the power mosfets through a qualified electrician and you are good.
Can you recommend any .. in Lagos .. preferably on the Island or close to . . .
What causes this failure...
Also, what is that white creamish gel inside ; as attached in previous pictures>?
And why is Mr K K not saying anything, just viewing silently . .
until "the violent starts to take it by force" ?
is that when he will comment?

DMerciful:
Liguidcrystal73,

kindly give more details like capacity of epever controller, capacity of solar array, installation pics to ascertain ventilation, what time of the day did it fail etc?
this will enable troubleshooting and possible solution.
Epever iTracer 40a . . .4210A
connected to a 600W array . . 4 x 150W panels . . in parallel
maximum current per panel: ~8.3 amps, therefore, total max. for current: 8.3 x 4 = 33.2Amps
Maximum voltage per panel: ~18V, but I have seen 20V on some days.; therefore total max. for voltage= 20V

Battery was at about 14.2 V (boost phase), for about 2hrs and then it floated . . . I was happy

Turned on about 180W loads; and panel was delivering about 227W from the MT50 meter indication

I just decided to do a quick glance at the setup minutes later and alas! battery was at 16.0V and the CC was
showing a warning: Battery Over-Voltage... I turned off the Panel - CC breaker.

No burnt smell, no fire, no smoke, nothing!

Battery went back to 13.8 float voltage, disconnected the battery terminals from CC to reset the CC; and back again
it was rising 14, 15, 16, then the Over Voltage error again.

Take note, no power from phcn and panel was at about 17V,., so the panel naturally would try to raise the battery voltage to 17V
because controller charging has failed.

Disconnected once more, did a factory reset of CC, Same thing.
The meter was showing negative battery amps, and zero amps from the Panel . . as you can see in pictures attached.

I brought out the PWM, connected it and all was perfect, no issues, disconnected PWM, connected MPPT, same error . . .
So connected the PWM back and left it there to continue its job . . .

Decided to crosscheck the MPPT and as you can see, images are attached.

Called Mr K K, and he pasted me his Engineer's number, called him, he said he is at Ojo (Lagos State University environs)
Disconnected the call, called Mr K K, he asked me to speak and conclude with his Engineer, called Engineer and he said I have to bring it over . .Distance is a problem, texted Mr K K, i cannot do the distance, maybe he can help arrange a delivery; or I might have to return the unit.

No response yet. So no warrantieshuh 36 hours and internal failure of CC . . ?? No after-sales support?
No words of encouragement? Nothing . . .

I have an expensive brick in my hands, CC still lights up and displays all info correctly, but will not receive any Amps from Panel
and will overcharge my battery bank; no matter how many times I tried.

So I am back to the PWM ( the stone that was rejected, now became the chief cornerstone)

That is the story.

Thank you.

P.S. Installation is wall-mounted; more than enough ventilation; and failure occurred this afternoon, around 1.30pm thereabouts
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by liquidcrystal73(m):
Dam5reey:
You have pushed more than 40amps into the controller...

You should have connected in series to reduce the current input to the CC...

Sorry for the loss cry
No i didn't . . . as a matter of fact, the CC was connected to the same test-run array a PWM 30a was connected to
and the PWM served fine, and when this MPPT died, i had to fall back on the PWM which is still doing its work
check panel spec below, there is no way they can do 40A
and even if the do, the CC would momentarily disconnect the array . . .
unlike Voc, which would fry the CC instantly . .
my PWM maxes out at 30.0A and disconnects the array very quickly !

Just about 36 hours !

A "wonderful loss" it is !

Mr. K K; come and carry your CC

Tnx

JUO:
the cc will do better if you double/series the panel voltage. For you to achieve this on epever you have over 300w of panels
Just a test run, Panels are quadruple that power.
i believe series/parallel don’t matter for mppt
because power cannot be created or destroyed
just converted from one form to another
if u do the calculation; it amounts to the same power whether via series or parallel
i might be wrong though.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by liquidcrystal73(m): 4:42pm On Oct 28, 2017
Battery finally floated around 2.21pm

220W draw and still floating

Test run passed!!!

Kiekie, thumbs up! You too much !!!

My camry 2004 did something that got me thinking...

I was driving slowly and discovered my car wasn't moving freely, it was moving like it was on brake. I checked my hand brake and everything thing I can but I couldn't figure out the issue.

Then after a stop, the passenger's back tire locks... Sudden lock.

That single back tire. No drive no reverse.

After a while, it unlocks.

What could be thishuh
You have binding brakes . . Service calipers

Plz huz,i am abt to get a camry 07, just saw on reviews dat it burns oil so much,u might hav to top up almost evry1000km,wots the solution plz
1. Expensive and risky engine rebuild
2. More expensive (and tentative) engine replacement
3. Least expensive but regular monitoring of engine oil level (to add when low)

pls help a brother in need
As per your codes:

1. Faulty thermostat system (bad wiring or bad device)
2. EVAP malfunction
3. Shift solenoid ( check wiring or replace device) . .. to fix your loss of power.
4. IAT ( check wiring or replace device )
5. Igniter circuit: Issues with ignition (coils); or at worse bad ECM . . check coils and ignition 1st
6. OCV --- Faulty oil control valve (or wiring) ; stuck camshaft or bad timing . . . needs physical diagnosis

This engine is seriously sick; hmmmm

Please whenever I enter a bump, I feel the two front tyres, shake and wobble,I am afraid ro accelerate fast, the steering acts like its gonna swerve off, the mechanic says it's the steering rack that the rubber is bad and was spoiled be the leaking rack...
A scan also showed Knock and oxygen sensor, what is the effect of not changing these items on time...
Check suspension system and replace as required
Not changing the sensors: 1. You're gradually killing your engine 2. Bad fuel economy

Can this be totally avoided during raining season in Lagos?

Rewire said when water get to the engine belt the alternator sensor won't work well. I don't know if some other vehicles acts in such way.
The fan belts are probably bad . . and when wet with water; tend to slip . . less rotational force to power the alternator . .
Does fan belt squeak when submerged in water huh

I use rav4 '02 . my concern is that anytime I drive into much pool of water the battery light comes up on the dashboard and disappear after some seconds or minute. What could be the cause and possible solution?
Am not satisfied with what my rewire said.
Thanks

semid4lyfe:
liquidcrystal73,

I greet you specially.

I had an accident with my 2002 Toyota Camry V6 November last year. The car skidded off the road into a bush and the exhaust got extensively damaged with grass and leaves tucked into it. Catalytic converter, exhaust pot were replaced and some welding work was done.

Since then, fuel consumption has gone over the roof and scanning has revealed p1135 (A/F Sensor Circuit Heater Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 1) and p1155 (A/F Sensor Circuit Heater Malfunction Bank 2 Sensor 1) error codes.

I do not believe the A/F sensors have gone bad cos it's unlikely for the two A/F sensors at different locations to go bad at the same time. Also, the same p1135 and p1155 codes were present when I first got the car and you said I might need to change the sensors but the error codes disappeared after exhaust work and the sensors were not changed.

I've had 2 other panel beaters/mechanics examine the exhaust and test drive, and they all tell me, "Oga, your exhaust is fine. No let anyone take you chop". They say there's no popping sound when starting the car, no visible leaks and the exhaust is breathing fine.

However, the slight stalling I experience when accelerating (not all the time and not too often), the increased grunt, decreased power & acceleration and the now excessive fuel consumption make me believe all is not well with my car. (Car did not have these issues before the accident).

I don tire, and I wan park the car as the fuel consumption don dey dig hole for my pocket. I'll be glad if I can be pointed in the right direction to get the problem fixed once & for all.

NB: I am in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
Ebony is quite a distance.
At this stage;what you need is a physical diagnosis.
LIVE DATA via a scanning machine is the next step; not just codes.

I have a corolla x 2004 and my major issue has been the screeching sound the brakes make most times I depress them. I have changed by brake pads 4 times using different ones, changed brake plates, but there doesn't seem to be any solution. I hear most corollas have such problems.
You either have loose drum shoes (which need manual adjustments);
or a binding caliper . . .
Replace with OEM brake pads; not before resurfacing the disc (within safe limits)/replacement
Then adjust drum shoes and service calipers/replace to stop binding !!
