Oga reason wetin you talk.
6 billion dollars loan paid back for a refinery that hasn't started work.
Which part of Dangote business e see 6billion dollars pick?

Let's all sit and fold our hands as a nation and be waiting for Dangote..$19b na wetin Nigeria no fit afford to revive our nation's three refineries..

By the way, Emefiele already said Dangote has almost finished paying the loan he took for the business so let's all keep waiting for him
Lmao.. Dangote got FX from Nigeria at 450 or so to build that refinery.

NNPC owns (officially) a 20% stake in that refinery.

Also, If you believe that dangote has paid back 70% which is 6billion dollars before the refinery has started refining then you can as well build castles in the sky.

So at this point when is the refinery starting?
Apparently from gusts, the refinery has about 8 turbines that need to work and not even 1 is ready at this point.

The problem here is u are comparing the poor students in public universities to their bright counterparts in private universities.

Yes I agree public varsities don't have enough infrastructures like laboratories , studios, workshops, etc. which makes learning difficult..... It still doesn't mean on an average the public varsity graduate won't fair well at the end of the day in his chosen career path.

Maybe its cos I'm speaking from social science/management science point of view. My experience may not actually be in reality with thiose who studied STEM courses in both varsities.
👍

In mine (which is relatively recent) we faced same.
Sometimes, we took courses in a stadium.
If you like come, if you like don't come.
Even the lecturer will tell you that you can make noise but you should just shift further behind...

One of our lecturers normally comes to whisper in class. And if you dare say you can't hear him, you're failing the course.

Most people who are making something off that chaos back then we're not only brilliant but had to actually put in 2x the work for them to actually have an idea of whatever they were looking to learn.

A nerd in FUOYE may just have the same bandwidth in knowledge with an unserious CU graduate.
Lmao.. Wonderful😁

FG is subsidizing by running the universities with government money while we paid few thousands as school fees.

For the purpose of argument u may not want to agree, but almost everyone knows that the "education" obtained from Private owned institutions where millions are paid yearly and one obtained from a tertiary institution affords u both opportunity to work in the same industry and function well on the job.

Yes public tertiary education has it's attendant problem like some lecturers missing lectures, some lecturers' teaching styles are archaic , etc. But as far as what u called "quality education" is concerned, both private and public varsities have what it takes to deliver . Most of the professors working in private universities were even poached from public varsities.

Except what u call "university experience" is just the ambiance, fine classrooms and hostels, beautiful buildings etc.
Lmaooo the education obtained from private uni and federal University are what?
They are not close at all😂.
Anyways we both won't shift positions. That's fine

FG is subsidising University education..

Oya how are they doing it?
What are students paying for in the university experience that is actually expensive when you compare?

Isn't something subsidised supposed to be at the very least really good quality gotten for cheap?

One truth u need to tell urself is that public education is highly subsidized in Nigeria. I attended a public secondary school for 6 years for free and also attended a public university where we paid few thousands of naira. In fact my 100l-400l school fees is not up to N150k when summed up.

Today I work in the same organization with colleagues who paid millions in fees in Babcock, Bowen, Covenant universities etc.

Apart from the living conditions in the private institutions being superb and a more conducive learning environment, I can confidently say there's little or no difference in the knowledge that was imparted in me by my professors and that of those who attended private varsities. At least we can both function on our jobs based on the knowledge imparted into us by our respective institutions.

I will be lying to myself if I tell people I didn't get subsidized education .

I think the student loan is a good way to go; the government should just perfect the loan repayment process and make sure people don't find a way to game the system. We all know school fees will be increased but the good side is that the school fees payment is deferred to 2 years after graduation.
First of what year did you go to school?
Secondly if you compare teaching experience in federal Universities to private universities, it will be miles apart.
You have alot of lecturers in federal universities that will barely come to class in a semester and still set questions. Try that in private uni make thunder nor fire you.
Should we talk about strikes?
Should we talk about the living conditions again?

So tell me exactly how the education in universities are subsidised?
People go dey search for lecturers like say na treasure hunt with barely any oversight on such airing lecturers.
How is that experience a subsidised thing for students?
Lets not forget that university fees have been going up too.

The student loan isn't bad but what are the students graduating into? We know how hard it is to hustle legit in this country and make it just for yourself alone.

I don't want to touch primary and secondary education because even the saner climes we want to copy offer mostly free education. So it's not in Nigeria we will give government a plus in that.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by liveLongNprospa(m): 7:38am On Jun 13, 2023
Again.
I have no problem with the student loans for the stupid ones that can't see beyond apc vs LP.
The issue I have is what happens after the 2yrs.
Going by our population we have at least 100m people as youths and we barely have jobs available.
That the FG/SG have been handling the running of schools doesn't mean we get subsidised education. They run it badly enough from the curriculum, to the living conditions to the strikes. There's nothing subsidised in any of this.

I can see everyone saying it's geared towards autonomy which as usual would lead to even further school fees. Not a problem but again given our economic reality, you are still asking the common man to bear the brunt of things for a country that's not remotely giving back to its citizens.
As usual revenue generation but at what cost to the people?

You can't be paying 45k for school fees and tell me it's not subsidised.... c'mon
What is the education compared to what isn't subsidised?
Should I talk about the standard of living that is horrible in federal universities.
Should I remind us of the strikes?

Again what is the thing that is subsidised?

Lmao, you are not serious.

Unilag school fees is around 30,000 Naira per semester.

Nigeria trained doctor’s are highly south after overseas, if the subsidised education they receive in nigeria is not premium, nobody will want them.

If you want to critique a government policy, please criticize on substantive matter not on a ridiculous notion.

It makes you look like you don’t know what you are saying.
Lmao please let's not get into this argument again about education being subsidised.
What we get compared to what people in saner climes get is light and darkness.

Unilag school fees is 30,000 per semester?
Should we do this for all the courses in Unilag?
Or you picked the lowest paid course?

We don't have subsidised education in our universities.
We don't have jobs as I speak with you.
So when you have people take student loans, what are they graduating into for this repayment?

The idea is nice but it is not important at this point.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by liveLongNprospa(m): 9:04pm On Jun 12, 2023
Shaytun:
You still don’t get it.

There is already a subsidy on education, the government has always been paying some sort of “loan” for your education at the federal and state level.

They are just transferring this loan for you to pay back, it’s a capitalist move.

One area I’m not very sure in the bill though is the CGPA part, the loan will be tied to your performance in school. So if you perform well in year 1 and 2 but your grade plummet in year 3 will the government stop paying?

So what then happen to the previous year payment?

I’m still seeking clarification on that sha
Lmao there's no subsidy on education because we are not getting any thing premium in education.
We are paying for the exact education we get.

Lmao.

What is the thing that is being subsidised?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by liveLongNprospa(m): 8:53pm On Jun 12, 2023
Shaytun:
It is.

By making sure, every Nigerian irrespective of their social standing have an opportunity to get “Quality” education.

The key word here being Quality education, not the quasi nonsense being taught in federal universities nowadays.
Again there are barely jobs available.
For me this is just a nice talking point but the scaling is impossible because you'll just add more to what the poor are passing through.

For now, student loans are not close to being a priority.

Shaytun:
I’ll rather government invest money in Education than Invest in PMS consumption.

A society that invest in its Human Resources can never go wrong.

Higher institutions will now be able to recalibrate their entire structure to be able to compete globally.

What this bill is doing is just substituting Education Subsidy with Student loan.

It’s very obvious we can't continue with the psuedo socialist government with our bloated population and dilapidated infrastructures .
But the bill doesn't plan to invest unless I missed it.
So again higher education for a poor population with barely any jobs available
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by liveLongNprospa(m): 8:08pm On Jun 12, 2023
So removal of subsidy.
Introduction of student loans which probably means increase in school fees incoming.

So again wetin poor Nigerians go gain?
Lets not for we barely have jobs in this country too

In reality, the judiciary needs to sit up. They have been dancing naked to the music of politicians and not acting like the law agency. Perhaps a little threat will do.
The problem is never the intention, it is the process.
For so long we've been told how you have to fix the process to justify the result.
What are judgements that you feel are worth these threats, what are judgements that are nit worth these threats.

Remember when the homes of judges were invaded and people also applauded that.. Yeah.
I'm not giving a room to FG with statements like that from Tinubu🙏
