I bought a name for a project (my site). Since i started building and linked to hosting, I've been getting mail alerts of people signing up, probably from previous site. Don't even know how this is possible. Is it backlogged or current signings? Please that's my first question.
Also, does this mean the name will have positive impact on my ranking when i launch?

P.S: Former site was a directory site.

Please anybody with knowledge on this.

1. Your knowledge of the business (Where to buy domains, how to pick good domains and when to reach out to end-users)
2. How to get so good in the business is to learn along the way (You need to buy and buy). You might buy a domain today and you feel, wow, this domain is good and you buy another (You might not even be so sure of it and guess what that would sell before the one you were so sure of).
3. Learn how to close sales (Very important). Some are very good at getting good domains but lack sales skills. Learn how to speak with clients that they will feel comfortable buying from you.
4. Follow the trends (Know what's up)- Sometimes, people report sales here, you can go use that similar sale to coin one domain that will sell. There are many platforms you can follow to know what is happening in the domain world.
5. Never, Never give up! I repeat, never, ever give up

With time, you will see yourself making sales every month and I'm talking of big sales. Don't give up on this business, don't!
