As much l sincerely condemn this act, carrying of arms by the courp members of the commision will only increase the rate of violent clahes and casualty in civil traffic management. A closer look at the case of the Nigeria Police, clearly shows that carrying of arm may not increase the safety bars of road safey personnels, rather this may place the commision on a position of frequent arms violence situation on our roads, considering the number of police men that have lost their lifes on duty in similar circumstances.
Rather the commision must find a way to embark on the following, 1. The introduction of modern sophisticated traffic equipment and barriers at point of personnel road operations. 2. Tactical profiling of drivers and vehicles 3.Enforcement of laws at the point of drivers licence renewal 4.Publication of number plates of defaulting motorists. 5. Use of video cameras to record activities of defaulting motorist for arrest later or enforcemrnt of law at the point of licences or documents renewal. etc
