Crime / Pastor, Aides Arrested After Failing To ‘resurrect’ 5-month-old Sick Baby by Loadedhoodmedia(m): 7:55pm On Oct 07, 2018

Police in Luweero, Uganda have arrested a female pastor and three other people for the alleged murder of a five month-old baby.

The ‘pastor’, Viola Nassanga and her aides Juliet Nakayenga, Edith Nabuule and landlord Lazaro Walakira were arrested last Friday and are currently detained at Luweero central police station.

Luweero district police commander Benson Byaruhanga Mworozi says that a week ago, Nassanga hoodwinked Asineyi Biira, the mother of the child to give her the child for prayers after complaining of sickness. He adds that the child never appeared again until reports emerged on Thursday that she died in the room they’d hired from Walakira while praying for her.

Acting on a tipoff from the Local Council One chairman of Lukyamu Village in Butuntumula Sub-county, Mr Juma Kisitu, police officers rushed to the home of Pastor Viola Nasanga, where they recovered the decomposing body.

It is reported that after learning of the death, the pastor lied to the mother that she had powers to resurrect her and she should remain calm.

Pastor Nasanga told police that they were praying and waiting for the voice of God to restore the life of the baby.

The body was taken to Luweero health centre IV were and will be transferred to Mulago referral hospital for post-mortem to establish what caused the death.
“This is a very unfortunate incident which police is now investigating. We have tentatively preferred a case of murder against the suspects as investigations continue. We have transported the body to Mulago Hospital Mortuary where a pathologist will conduct a postmortem before it’s handed over to relatives,” the Luweero District Police Commander said on Friday.

He said the baby identified as Anita Kwagala could have died more than two weeks ago.

Pastors led by Morris Kigongo and Amos Nayepe of Luweero Pastors’ Fellowship in Luweero have disassociated themselves from the suspect.

They claim that Nassanga was practising witchcraft and not Christianity.

Mr John Paul Kibalama, the Butuntumula Sub-county chairman, in a telephone interview said he got information from residents of Lukyamu village that Pastor Nasanga, a Tanzanian national has been conducting prayers in a rented room belonging to Mr Lazaro Walakira.
The mother of the dead child told police that she took her daughter to Pastor Nasanga after learning from a friend that prayers could restore the life of her child.

She alleged that on September 30, they heard a mysterious voice instructing them to move out of the house and allow God to restore the life of the baby. They reportedly stayed outside the house forthwith.

Ms Caroline Nankabirwa, a resident of Lukyamu village told the Daily Monitor that Pastor Nasanga has been attracting several people to pray with her.

“People come and join her for prayers. We know her as a Tanzanian citizen although she changed her name original name to Nasanga, Ms Nankabirwa said.

One Oluwaseun Ajila, a resident of the Ijoka area of Akure, the Ondo State capital, has been reportedly killed by an unknown person.

The 20-year-old, who was into modelling, was said to have been stabbed to death by the assailant on Thursday.

According to a source, the mother of the deceased, Mrs. Yemisi Ajayi, raised the alarm over the incident when she returned from work that day and met her daughter dead.
The source said, “The mother returned from work in the evening and met her daughter’s lifeless body on the floor in a pool of blood. She immediately called the attention of the neighbours to it.

“There were many wounds on her body which indicated that someone must have fought with her inside the room and stabbed her to death.”

It was learnt that the Ondo State Police Command had arrested the boyfriend of the deceased, Ebenezer Adedimola, in connection with the incident.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, said Ajayi reported the matter to the police.

He said, “The woman said she suspected her deceased daughter’s boyfriend because he had a misunderstanding with her (the model) recently and in the morning of that day, he called her (Ajayi) on the telephone several times to know her whereabouts.
“The mother said the boyfriend probably wanted to know whether she (Ajayi) was not at home in order to go and carry out the dastardly act. However, we have commenced investigation into the incident and the perpetrator will be brought to book.”

Crime / Mortuary Attendants Steal The Eyes Of A Dead 18-month-old Child In Port Harcourt by Loadedhoodmedia(m): 3:17pm On Oct 06, 2018

Some staff of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH mortuary, have been arrested for allegedly removing the eyes of a dead 18-month-old twin named Chuma, who died of anaemia on August 3, 2018.

According to a report by TheSun, the father of the dead child who had gone back to pay the mortuary bill, two weeks later, discovered that the corpse they brought out for him, had been mutilated.

He said the UPTH mortuary attendants could not account for how, when or why the body parts got missing. He added that; “Even while the baby was still breathing, one of the nurses had approached me and asked me to pay N30,000 to have the baby buried somewhere. That got me annoyed. From that moment, they became nonchalant, claiming they were waiting for the blood test until the child died.”

According to the father of the dead child, he was prevented from taking pictures of the corpse. “I was so angry I wanted to fight the mortuary attendants. Eventually, I abandoned the corpse to them. That very day, I reported the case to the Rivers State Police Command; the next day, I got in touch with my lawyer and we wrote a petition to the Commissioner of Police on September 18. Till today, the question I am asking the mortuary attendants is, what happened to the two eyes of my baby?” Sunday stated.
The State’s Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Zaki, confirmed that “Sunday wrote a petition to me on September 18, and we immediately started the investigation.” Zaki affirmed that the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID personally took charge of the case.

“We sent an invitation letter to the board of UPTH,” he said. It was gathered that UPTH snubbed the meeting scheduled for September 22. Four mortuary attendants have been arrested by the police for interrogation.
