Music/Radio / Korede Bello Shines With 'godwin' At Inauguration Dinner by Lokooneone(m): 10:11am On May 30, 2015
Mavin music sensation Korede Bello wherever he is today will still be basking in the euphoria of his electric performance at the inauguration dinner held in honour of President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House Conference Hall in Abuja.

Korede Bello as he is popularly referred to by his numerous fans not only rendered his popular hit, 'Godwin' but also added flair through his smile and well guided movement on stage.

The Lagos State born musician and guitarist injected a bit of energy into the gala night with his performance when it seems to be getting boring. He also speared the blushes of Apororo, one of Nigeria's comedian who came on stage before him but couldn't crack the audience ribs.

While his performance continues to get positive reviews across social media platform, the story of Korede Bello is one which exemplifies the saying that "Talent well harnessed will bring you before kings"

Politics / 'excommunicating' Zuma From Buhari's Inauguration by Lokooneone(m): 8:42am On May 26, 2015
By 'Lekan Ogunyinka

At a time like this when Nigerians both home and in diaspora are embittered about the dearth of fuel that has threatened to bring the whole nation to a gridlock, there is a growing anticipation among many that there will surely be light at the end of the tunnel when a new government is ushered in come May 29. As at the last count, not less than 50 heads of States have confirmed their participation in the event which is billed to take place at the Eagles Square in Abuja. Among these notable dignitaries that have decided to witness what many has described as a new dawn in Nigeria's democratic landscape is South Africa's President, Jacob Zuma.

Zuma it will be recalled was the first to be confirmed by his spokesperson, Mac Maharaj among the long list of important personalities that will grace Muhammadu Buhari's inauguration. However, as thoughtful as his intention may be in celebrating with a sister country, the role he played in the xenophobic attack that overwhelmed his country between March and April this year leaves much to be desired and it is still fresh in the memories of Nigerians.

In the wake of the attack which started as a result of a labour dispute between citizens and foreign workers, the South African President attributed the xenophobic scourge to the contributions of sister countries who left their countries for South Africa. This statement clearly disrupt his earlier submission that immigrants contribute to the nation's economy and bring skills that are in demand, and should not be stereotyped as criminals.

It is on record that over 2 million documented and undocumented immigrants among which are Nigerians live and work in Zuma's country, a figure that makes up for about 4% of the total population of South Africa. Rather than take a decisive action that will immediately quell the unrest and bring the perpetrators to book, the number one citizen engaged himself in public speeches that neither brought succor to the affected immigrants or those observing from afar.

Nigeria whose citizens were also affected in this inhumane act will never forget in a hurry the role she played during the apartheid regime of 20 years torture and struggle that the Madiba people went through. All these effort towards the liberation of South Africa seems to have been forgotten by our fellow African brothers especially by their head who should know. Till date Zuma has failed to make any meaningful statement about the cruel-some act of his country men and has also failed to accost the Zulu King who was alleged to have made the statement that led to the xenophobic scourge.

President Jacob Zuma remorsefully went ahead to apologize to Mozambique one of the countries also affected in the unrest but failed to extend the same gesture to Nigeria who some of its citizens lost their valuables, including millions of cash and buildings in the attacks. He was however quick to condemn Nigeria's withdrawal of its High Commissioner, Martin Cobham and Deputy High Commissioner Uche Ajulu-Okeke as unfortunate and regrettable noting that it is sad that Nigeria's action is a ploy to explore such a painful episode.

It would also be recalled that the government of Zuma failed to give Nigeria a deserved recognition by disallowing President Goodluck Jonathan from making a speech at Nelson Mandela's Memorial service held at the FBN stadium in Johannesburg. This was nothing but a slap on Nigeria whose contributions to Mandela's freedom and the entire South African people from Apartheid can not be quantified.

All the deeds of Zuma is still fresh in the memories of Nigeria and Nigerians. As thoughtful as his intentions may be in honouring Nigeria by attending Buhari's inauguration, there is no doubt that people especially Nigerians will wear a long face when the cameras settles on Zuma's face. For someone who has failed not only in apologizing to a country of Nigeria's standing but has also refused to recognize its big brother role in Africa, attending a function of such magnitude where the whole world will be watching is like rubbing his many insults on our face.

It is never too late for organizers of the inauguration to bar Jacob Zuma from showing his face at Eagles Square come May 29. His attendance will neither take anything away from the event nor add to it. Excommunicating the South African President will also serve as a deterrent to other African countries to always treat fairly fellow African brothers especially during torrid times such as the one that happened in Zuma's country.

Nairaland / General / Re: '50 Shades Of Fuel...' The Internet Is Agog With The Hashtag #replaceamoviewithf by Lokooneone(m): 2:35pm On May 25, 2015
This is a vivid manifestation of the old saying that literally translates to a departing office holder defecating on the chair he is vacating. Anyway, Nigerians will always have something to smile about.

Nairaland / General / '50 Shades Of Fuel...' The Internet Is Agog With The Hashtag #replaceamoviewithf by Lokooneone(m): 2:33pm On May 25, 2015
It is no longer news that Nigeria has been hit with the dearth of fuel. The scarcity of this essential commodity in the last few days has gripped Nigerians and non Nigerians alike making life more difficult. Businesses have been affected, monthly salary earners are crying foul, and surprisingly traffic has suddenly disappeared especially in Lagos whose traffic situation is second to none in the country.

One part of Nigeria that is however not affected is the social media. Nigerians especially the youths have taken to the various social media platform like Facebook and Twitter to express their frustration at a broken economic system that continues to squeeze hard on consumers and make an already torturous living even more hellish howabeit in a comical way.

Here is today’s trending hashtag – #ReplaceAMovieWithFuel. Some of the top headlines includes: Fuel of Wall Street, Dark Fuel Rises, 50 Shades of Fuel, Fuel Men, Fuel of Steel,The Last Fuel to Abuja, Fuel in the Monkey shadow, Night at the fuel station etc.

While you queue at the petrol station or wherever you are #ReplaceAMovieWithFeul.

Sports / Will Adebayor End Up Like Yekini? by Lokooneone(m): 8:00pm On May 21, 2015
Since the day he decided to let out the can of worms in his family to the world, he has never known peace. For Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor, the sun seems to be setting on the illustrious career of a player whose life has over the years radiated success, fame and glory.

Many has attributed the former Arsenal striker outburst to a spell while others refer to it as an enchantment but no one can really tell what has brought about the discord between Adebayor and his family.

Now released for the second time this season on compassionate ground by his club to sort out his family issues, the former African Footballer of the year future with the London side is gradually fading away before his eyes while he is still blinking.

Adebayor's present predicament is reminiscent of late Super eagles striker, Rashidi Yekini who allowed his family issues to overwhelm him and confined him into solitude.Yekini who is Nigeria's all time leading goal scorer with 37 goals just like Adebayor battled with both the seen and unseen forces in his family but could not conquer before he passed on.

While the death of Rashidi Yekini still remains a misery to many Nigerians and football fans across the globe who knew little or nothing about the sour relationship he had with his family members, same can not be said of Adebayor whose structure and striking prowess could be likened to the former eagles forward. Football fans across the globe would easily give details of the woes in the ace footballer's family.

Unlike Yekini who bottled up and kept the media away from his many troubles, Togolese born Adebayor threw caution to the air by letting the world into the hidden part of his family with his many unguided Facebook post.

Today, the peace the former Manchester City forward had enjoyed in his career has suddenly evaporated. The thought of committing suicide has suddenly taken over him. Reports has it that he was once talked out of killing himself by his sister Iyabo.

Now that this most decorated footballer to ever come out of Togo has been giving time to rehabilitate and rediscover himself, his fans all over the world will hope that in the process of time, he clears his head, settles his family issues and return strong. However, if he allows the storm presently raging in his family to sweep him away, he may also be remembered like Nigeria's gangling Rashidi Yekini.

My childhood was fun. Those that were born in the 80's will attest to the fact that there was unlimited fun back in the days compared to what we have now.

Though today's kids and teenagers can take solace in 2day's technology driven world, but its a far cry from the natural and crude fun those that were born in the early and mid 80s experienced.

Boys and girls of those days have grown into handsome men and beautiful women, many are now parents too. But being humans that we are, it is only natural that we reminisce on our past especially our childhood and teenage years.

It is in this light that I want us to have fun buy sharing some of those jokes and light abuses that made childhood thick.

Let me open the floor

Pls share yours and let the fun continues.

Career / How Should A Resignation Letter Be Written? by Lokooneone(m): 5:54pm On Aug 06, 2013
Getting a good paying job in this part of the world is not easy to come by.The euphoria that rent the air is something that is indescribable if and when an individual finally lands a job(a well paying on at that)after many years of searching.

To such individual, life has began. He starts the job and he is doing quite well. But after some time, luck smile on such individual, and he gets a far better one elsewhere and leaves without notice or leave with a notice that soils his person before the organisation as an ungrateful individual.

Most reading this will agree with me that leaving an organisation that has made you what you are today is a difficult decision to take especially if such organisation stood by you in the good and bad times.

However,if it is inevitable that you have to take a bow and move on,what can you do to maintain the long standing relationship between you and the organisation? How would you put it in writing that won't be offensive thereby painting you as an ingrate?

Simply put,how should a resignation letter look like?what kind of tone should it carry?

Share your experience, you may be helping someone somewhere
