How long will thou be silent Toke?

Some weeks ago, reports claimed that, Maje Ayida, the husband of popular on-air-personality, Toke Makinwa, impregnated a long time lover and flew her out of the country to be delivered of the baby.

Ever since the news broke both parties especially, Ayida, kept mute on the issue and their silence fueled so many speculations. Out of the blues, the fitness trainer who has kept a low profile since the news of him reportedly impregnating his longtime girlfriend, Anita Solomon broke, publicly apologized to his wife via his Instagram page.

If report making the rounds is anything to go by, Karim Benzema may be putting on the red and white colours of Arsenal next season as the gunners are set to table a £40million bid for the Real Madrid hit man.

Arsenal Manager has already signed signed Petr Cech this summer from Chelsea and would be looking to add another high profile forward to his ranks in the mould of Benzema in other to challenge for the title.

The Frenchman has long been linked with a move to the Emirate stadium and the Sun reports that a deal is likely to go through this summer with negotiations to commence next week.

It is still unclear if the forward who scored 22 goals in 46 appearances for Madrid last season is in the plans of new Manager Rafa Benitez with reports suggesting that he could look in the direction of Gareth Bale or Christiano Ronaldo as a striker.

If the deal pulls through, Benzema would be the third marquee signing in as many years, following the arrivals of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez last two seasons and last season respectively.

Barcelona have completed signing of Turkish International, Arda Turan, on a five-year contract from Atlético Madrid for an initial fee of £24.1m (€34m).

Turan 28 was reportedly the target of the Premier League champions, Chelsea, but decided to stay in Spain by swapping Atletico Madrid for the Catalan giants Barcelona.

According to a statement from Barcelona, there is an agreement which stipulates that the Turkish captain will not be able to play an official game for Barcelona until January 2016 due to a transfer ban imposed by Fifa for breaching rules over the signings of underage players.

Turan deal is also coming in the midst of Barcelona presidential election campaign presided over by a special commission, which had to approve the transfer of the former Atlectico Madrid enforcer. The commission has an unusual clause in place which states that the winner of the election which is billed for July 18 has the option of selling Turan back to Atlético less 10% of the fixed fee within two days.

Turan joined Atlectico Madrid in 2011 for a reported fee of €12 million and went on to make 127 appearances helping the team to the 2013/2014 La Liga Title.

Serena Williams has made it to the quarterfinals of this year All England Club Tennis championship, Wimbledon after outclassing big sister Venus in straight set 6-4,6-3.

Playing on the Centre Court for the first time in six years against big sister Venus, Serena once again demonstrated why she is no longer in the same class with her sister whom she described after the game as her best friend in the world.

Venus 35 was no match for Serena in their 26th career meeting and this accounted for the reason why the tie ended in just one hour, seven minutes.

Venus it would be recalled won their most recent meeting, in Montreal last summer, but with this win, Serena has extended her head-to-head advantage over Venus to 15-11.

While Venus will head home after failing to add her 5 Wimbledon titles, Serena will be hoping to add to her 5 Wimbledon title which she last won in 2012.

The Nigeria Football Federation NFF on Saturday terminated the appointment of Stephen Keshi as Head Coach of the Senior National Football Team, Super Eagles.


The decision to relieve Keshi of his job by the NFF Executive Committee was premise on his lack of commitment to achieve the Federation’s objectives as set out in the Coach’s employment contract as well as his disposition in performing his duties as Super Eagles’ Head Coach.


The termination of the former Super eagles captain contract according to Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, who spoke on behalf of the entire Executive Committee of NFF was not done out of prejudice to the settlement of any existing or past financial obligations between the NFF and Mr. Keshi, but was made in the ultimate interest of Nigeria football.


Akinwunmi who thanked Keshi for his services to the country and wished him the very best in his future endeavours hinted that the Super Eagles will now be managed in the interim by by Assistant Coach, Salisu Yusuf and the Technical Directorate of the NFF headed by Coach Shuaibu Amodu, until the Federation names in due course a new Head Coach, who, along with the NFF will chart a new direction for the Super Eagles to ensure credible participation in international competitions and assist in building a sustainable football culture for the country.


Keshi became coach of the Nigerian National Team in 2011 and will be fondly remembered for helping the country win the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa 19 years after Nigeria claimed the biggest prize in African football in Tunisia.

Arsenal Football club of England has completed the signing of Czech Republic international Petr Cech for a fee in the region of £11million as reported by the Daily Mail.

Petr Cech finally completed his long-awaited move from Chelsea to Arsenal after been strongly linked with a transfer to the Emirates Stadium since the end of last season when it became clear that the arrival of Thibaut Courtois from Atletico Madrid would see him become Chelsea second choice goalkeeper.

Cech who joined Chelsea in 2004 and made over 450 appearances at Stamford Bridge was also courted by Manchester United but decided to stay in London because of his family despite Jose Mourinho's unwillingness to sell him to their North London rival.

The 33 year old becomes Arsenal's first signing of the season and could face his former club Chelsea in the community Shield in August.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Cech won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three league cups, one UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League cup.
