Politics › PDP Screens Jonathan, As Balewa Steps Down. by Longeria(op): 11:56am On Nov 27, 2014 |
President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday submitted himself to the Presidential screening committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where his credentials and other political qualifications that will enable him contest the party ticket were perused. The President’s screening, however, was a matter of formality, as he has been adopted by the party’s organs, as the chosen candidate for the election. In the same vein, his challenger, Jelil Tafawa Balewa, who is seeking the PDP presidential ticket was also screened by the committee. The party presidential primary is slated for January 10 and 11. The President arrived the PDP national secretariat at about 3;15 pm to a rousing welcome as party National Working Committee (NWC) members had formed a guard of honour to welcome him. Other members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), who accompanied him, also joined the waiting NWC members before the President disembarked from his vehicle. .However, Balewa on Wednesday announced his withdrawal from the presidential race in honour of President Jonathan. In a dramatic move, Balewa, who participated in the presidential screening exercise at the party’s secretariat, decided to withdraw from the race after he had gone through the screening exercise. The news of his withdrawal was broken, as the PDP National Working Committee gave clearance to all Governorship aspirants in River State. The screening committee for Rivers State had disqualified almost all the aspirants leaving former Education Minister, Nyesom Wike, as the only major aspirant to contest the PDP ticket. Lancelot Anyanya, one of the aspirants initially screened out, mounted a spirited pressure on the party leadership asking for verifiable reasons why he should alongside others, not contest the PDP ticket. The party unable to give any cogent reason for the disqualification, reviewed their cases and gave them a clean bill. Unlike what used to be the norm, the premises of the PDP national secretariat were not cleared of persons and vehicles, which usually heralded the arrival of the President. As much as his security details tried to shield the president away from cheering crowd, the president took his time under the scorching sun, to exchange pleasantries with party members. President Jonathan, who was at the party national secretariat in the company of his vice, Namadi Sambo, Akwa Ibom state governor, Godswill Akpabio and other members of his cabinet spend about an hour with screening committee headed by former National Chairman of the party, Dr. Ahmadu Ali. http://dailyindependentnig.com/2014/11/pdp-screens-jonathan-balewa-steps/ |

Politics › Re: The Truths Obasanjo Failed To Tell Nigerians. by Longeria(m): 10:23pm On Nov 22, 2014 |
PhockPhockMan: I was shocked when I heard the news that the Former president, General Olusegun Obasanjo criticized the Government of President Goodluck Jonathan by describing it performance as 'BELLOW AVERAGE". I'm not disputing the former president’s right to criticize or disagree with the present government on issues, but the evil intentions attached to it. Criticizing the government with a single sentence without details is nothing but a grand deception. Obasanjo Failed to tell us that during his regime, election was do or die which Jonathan reversed to Free and fair. That the second term Jonathan is asking for, which is the bone of contention is constitutional while his third term bid is not. That Nigeria's agricultural sector went from bad to worse under him despite being a farmer himself, while Jonathan revolutionized the sector to the extent that within 3 years, we've cut food importation by more than half with a projection to start food exportation in 2016. Aviation had it's worst history under Obasanjo, while Jonathan rehabilitated all the federal airport and made sure all parts of the country is under radar coverage. Today, Nigeria is among the best in Africa in terms of air safety. Under Obasanjo, Nigeria was the largest importer of cement in Africa, today, under the leadership of Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria is now the largest exporter of cement in Africa. Under Obasanjo, Nigeria sports had one of its worst history when he introduced the wicked and demoralizing "PRESIDENTIAL HAND SHAKE" policy, today, Jonathan introduced reward for handwork which resulted in our excellent performances in sports. Under Obasanjo, Railway was a forgotten issue, today, Jonathan has revitalized the sector to the amazement of all Nigerians. Under Obasanjo, all federal roads in the country was death trap, today, Jonathan has done most of them including the one in his backyard, Lagos / Ibadan expressway. During Obasanjo regime, electricity supply was about 2000 megawatts, today, it's more than 4,000 megawatts. Under Obasanjo, we were known as home of tokumbo cars, today, Nigeria is manufacturer of brand new cars. We've never had it so good in terms of foreign policy and so on. If all this excellent performances is what he called bellow average, then he must be telling us indirectly that his performance as president is "BELLOW MEDIOCRITY"
Obasanjo should be man enough to tell Nigerians his problem with the president. We can't accept these lies. Seun, obinoscopy, OAM4J, Mynd44, please push this thread to front page. God bless. |

PointB: The rate at which APC are embracing any failed PDP members who defects make one even wonder if APC really envies PDP and what to be exactly like them. Heck, they've even courted Obj, trying to entice him with the title of Navigator! If GEJ defects to APC today, the fools and their foolish party will accept him! What then is APC about?
They are simply self-serving opportunist who want power at all cost, and will dine with the devil for it!
Nigerians should beware of these APC people, they are worse than PDP! I agree with you 100‰. |

It has become customary for APC supporters to always criticize everything others and keep silent when evil is perpetrated by one of your own. That's why nobody take you people serious anymore. |
