Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has headed to court to seek legal intervention on the issue of the removal of his security aides by the Inspector General Police (IGP) at dawn on Thursday.

The suit, which details THISDAY is working to get, was filed at an Abuja High Court on Friday morning.

When contacted on the suit his spokesperson, Imam Imam confirmed it has been filed but refused to make any comment, saying it will be prejudicial for him to say anything since the matter is before the judiciary.

Lesson no 1:

Playing the spy while in PDP is different from fighting from the outside.

Lesson no 2:

Don't bite the fingers that fed you

Lesson no 3:

Always think through your actions because there are consequences.

Lesson no 4:

2 can play that game

Good move by the speaker, the era where people in authority do things with impunity and get away with it is over. The IG of police should also be dragged to court to explain where he derived the power to interpret the law on behalf of the court from. We must follow the rule of law irrespective of whether it favours our political party/political aspirations or not.

This suit goes to show that the speaker is a democrat who is ready to abide by the law. Another person could have resort to self help or employ the same bole ka ja(get down and let's fight) tactics of the presidency which can lead to serious overheating of the polity. The speaker should not be intimidated at all, he remains the speaker until at least, 2/3 of the members of the house of representatives says otherwise.

if we are to grow as a Nation we must learn to obey the rules

Why cant Tambuwal just be grown up and resign?

I cant Imagine a Democrat, Republican in US or Conservative or Labour MP doing this

in fact in the UK recently, eventhough their constitution allow MPs to change parties and retain their seat, some Conservative MPs who wanted to change parties to UKIP simply resigned from office, forced a by-election and stood for their new party and got voted back in? Thats what democracy looks like.

Why cant Tambuwal be grown up enough to respect our constitution and stand down

APC respects the rule of law and we hold the verdict of the court to be final.

PDP will be disgraced. I hope someone out there will also take the IGP to court for this gross lawlessness and open bias he is displaying.

The misfortune of Tambuwal will be worse than his predecessors in office, like SALISU BUHARI, GHALI NA, ABBA, AMINU MASARI, PATRICIA ETTE, DIMEJ BANKOLE.

Tell that to the marines!

If he was a democrat and respecter of the law he would have resigned his position as required by the law! Why does he want to eat his cake and have it?

Now he will spend his campaign time and funds (at least part of it) pursuing a needless court case!

Going by this hocus pocus, why did Sen. Chukwumerije and others who have defected from other opposition parties to the PDP not resign and re-contest for the same seat under their newfound [PDP] party?! Or, people like Opeyemi who left APC for LP recently?!

Guy, abeg stop saying what you know is practically impossible in Nigeria. If it were to be in the same US/UK, Abba Moro would have resigned his appointment after sentencing over 19 Graduates to death. Jonathan would have also resigned for failing to protect lives and properties of Nigerians.

Two wrongs does not make a right!

In anycase, did APC sponsor those people to the house? Didn't they get there through other parties like CPC, ACN, etc which no longer exist in it's original form?

Are we aspiring to be a Nation of laws or just doing everything the same Nigerian way?

If all the opposition APC is offering is looking for ways to circumvent the rules and behaving exactly like the ruling party then why do they claim to be progressive? Why should the Nigerian voter worry about voting out PDP if all we are getting is another set of politicians doing things exactly the same way as PDP? We might as well stick to the devil we know!!!!
