ComputersLogitech Unveils Washable Keyboard by loopbenbamicom(op): 4:32pm On Aug 27, 2012
Anyone with kids, or perhaps a job where you eat at your desk, knows that food and keyboards don’t mix. In fact, they can get pretty sticky and crumb-filled if you don’t clean them regularly. Besides using a gas duster or wiping it with an electronics-friendly cloth, there’s no easy way to thoroughly sanitize your keyboard.

Enter Logitech‘s Washable Keyboard K310, unveiled on Wednesday. It has the familiar layout of the Logitech keyboards you may already use, but this one can take a dip in water. You can rinse it in the kitchen sink or wipe it with a wet cloth. Not only can the keyboard be submerged up to 11 inches, it dries easily, too.

The keyboard can handle plenty of washing and use, according to Logitech. Characters are laser-printed and UV-coated, so they don’t fade after a cleaning. Holes in the back of the keyboard let water escape easily, and air enter, to dry every part. The keyboard is also simple to set up: Just plug it in, and you’re ready to work.

It’s compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

The Logitech Washable Keyboard K310 is expected to be available across the U.S. starting in August for a suggested retail price of $39.99. It will be available in Europe this October.

ComputersNigeria Takes The Lead In African Internet Speeds - Yeah True by loopbenbamicom(op): 9:38am On Aug 27, 2012
sourcehttp://www.adihoo.com/index.php/component/k2/item/363-nigeria-take-the-lead-in-african-internet-speeds

According to report by Akamai Technologies Global Internet Platform, Nigeria has successfully overtaken South Africa in terms of Internet speed just in less than 11 years.

In the report it is revealed that the west African Nation has an average connection speed of 322kbps with a peak rate of 5674kbps while South Africa’s average speed is faster at 496kbps, with a peak speed which is almost half that of Nigeria, at 2172kbps.

“All mobile providers had average peak connection speeds above 2 mbps, though last place South African provider, ZA-1 was just above the threshold, losing over 13 per cent from the prior quarter, at 2.2 mbps,” the report stated.

According to Leadership, “in 2011 South Africa was one of only two countries listed in the report with an average peak connection speed below 2 mbps. South Africa had average 442kbps over Nigeria’s 286kbps, however, Nigeria outperformed with peak 4871kbps and average 462mbps per month over South Africa’s 1654kbps and 197mbps.”

The report also noted that speeds across the globe were improving, and that all 117 countries that qualified for inclusion measured an increase in average connection speeds. The gain in average speed however isn’t uniform, as Montenegro grew by 0.2 per cent to 2.8 mbps, while Libya measured a 75 per cent increase to 0.5 mbps.

PhonesThe $1billion Fight , What's Next For Samsung? by loopbenbamicom(op): 7:37am On Aug 27, 2012
http://www.adihoo.com/index.php/component/k2/item/358-down-by-$1b-whats-next-for-samsung

The trial that began 2months ago in July, Apple Inc top executives who testified in coherent narratives in court unveil very deterimental inner Samsung documents showing that the company alter its products to be more like the iPhone.

Having 25 hours trial time each, Samsung lawyers used too much time in the start out and couldn't cross examine some Apple witnesses towards the end of the trial. Samsung staffs testified through language interpreters and in video depositions that disaffect jurors.

"Instead of witnesses, they sent you lawyers," Apple attorney Harold McElhinny said during his closing argument.

while Samsung's own patents were a major part of behind-the-scenes negotiations, at trial its lawyers struggled to present them on the same ground with Apple's intuitively all-embracing design and feature patents.

Samsung had the opportunity to opt for a separate trial on its patents, but they declined. Its lawyers were carried away by the fact that placing its own allegations in front of the same jury would balance out any toxic impact from breaches of Apple patents.

It didn't work. Samsung was found to violate six of Apple's patents, the jury said. Whether damages will be tripled is a decision for Koh in the coming weeks.

Samsung asked for up to $399m on its standards patents and they got nothing.

However, Samsung has pledge to keep fighting on. It could get an appeals court to delay any potential sales ban, which would give it time to bring new, modified products to the market.
Nairaland GeneralDutch Carpenter Builds Replica Of Noah’s Ark…plans To Sail To London Olympics by loopbenbamicom(op): 8:55am On Jul 13, 2012
A Dutch creationist is putting the finishing touches on a full-size replica of Noah’s Ark, which he has built according to a blueprint set out in the Bible up the Thames for the Olympics. This feat of true biblical proportions was inspired by a dream Mr Huibers had 20 years ago, in which he saw part of his native Netherlands submerged in a flood like the one featured in the Book of Genesis.
He has been obsessed with bringing the story of the ark to life ever since, MSNBC reports, and in 2004 he built a half-scale version and floated it along the country’s canals.
Tourists flocked to see the smaller prototype when Mr Huibers opened it to the public, but the proceeds from admissions went straight back into funding his ambition to build a full-size ship
The narrative of the ark, in which God commands Noah to prepare for a great flood sent to purge the world of evil, specifies that the boat was 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide and 30 cubits high.
Mr Huibers converted this ancient unit of measurement, which is based on the length of the forearm, to determine that his recreation had to be about 450ft long.
This puts the boat, which opens to the public on Monday and is nicknamed ‘Johan’s Ark’, at more than half the length of the Titanic.
And though it may not be able to shelter two of every animal, as the original story dictates, it can hold 1,500 people – not to mention a menagerie of life-size plastic creatures including giraffes, elephants and donkeys, as well as a few live chickens.
As it weighs in at almost 3,000 tons and is made from Swedish pine reinforced with steel, it may be hard to believe that the ark is, in fact, seaworthy.
It is docked in the western city of Dordrecht, where Mr Huibers, the owner of a construction company, pieced it together with the help of some friends and two of his children.
In the 15th century, the city was the site of one of the deadliest floods in history, named St Elizabeth’s flood, which is thought to have claimed as many as 10,000 lives.

HOW LONG WAS A CUBIT?
Long before the metric or imperial systems came along, craftsmen in various parts of the world dealt in less precise units known as cubits.
As this was based on the length of a forearm, the exact value varies from one ancient civilisation to the next. It is most commonly defined as the distance from the elbow to the middle fingertip.
The Biblical cubit is generally thought to be about 18in, but Ancient Egyptian cubit rods measure closer to 20in.
Tourists flocked to see the smaller prototype when Mr Huibers opened it to the public, but the proceeds from admissions went straight back into funding his ambition to build a full-size ship.

CelebritiesMario Balotelli - The FAME And The PAIN by loopbenbamicom(op): 2:07pm On Jul 10, 2012
Mario Barwuah Balotelli (Italian pronunciation: [ˈmaˑɾjo baloˈtɛlːli]; born Mario Barwuah; 12 August 1990) is an Italian footballer who plays as a striker for Manchester City and the Italy national team.

He started his professional football career at Lumezzane and played for the first team twice before having an unsuccessful trial at FC Barcelona, and subsequently joining Internazionale in 2007. Inter manager Roberto Mancini brought Balotelli into the first team, but when Mancini left, Balotelli’s disciplinary record fell away. He had a strained relationship with new head coach José Mourinho and was suspended from Inter’s first team in January 2009 after a number of disciplinary problems.

His problems deepened in March 2010 when he came under heavy criticism by Inter fans after he appeared on the Italian TV show Striscia la notizia, wearing an A.C. Milan jersey. This damaged the prospect of him having a long career at Inter, but he did make several appearances after that. With doubts over his career at Inter, former coach Roberto Mancini had since moved to Manchester City and decided to give Balotelli a fresh chance at a new club. He joined Manchester City in August 2010, where his performances and off-field activities have continued to be enigmatic and unpredictable.

Balotelli, who is of Ghanaian descent, earned his first cap for the Italian national team on 10 August 2010 in a friendly match against the Côte d’Ivoire, becoming one of the first black players to play for the Italian national football team

Mario Balotelli was born in Palermo, Sicily, to Christian Ghanaian immigrants Thomas and Rose Barwuah. The family moved to Bagnolo Mella in the province of Brescia, Lombardy, shortly after he was born.As an infant, he had life-threatening complications with his intestines which led to a series of operations, although his condition had improved by 1992. Mario’s health problems and the family’s cramped living conditions meant the Barwuahs decided to ask for the help of social services who recommended that he be fostered.......

WebmastersFirefox 13 - Now Web Developers Can Be Really Happy by loopbenbamicom(op):
After series of privy Test i solely think Web Developers can finally be happy After Mozilla released a stable version of Firefox 11. a few days later, the channel appeared with a beta version 12 browser, and now the Aurora channel, designed for those who love the latest software is available and is a test version of Firefox 13.

Appendix Firebug will not be probably soon the most important extension for web developers. Developed by the Mozilla development tools, as we saw in the latest versions of the browser, is obviously getting better and better by the day, something of which we have long dreamed of.

The Style Inspector sidebar of the Page Inspector has had a number of useful upgrades. You can now select and copy a rule out of the Rules view. In the Computed view, the links to the CSS files now go to the Style Editor rather than View Source. Invalid entries in the rules view are now marked with a warning sign. The tool-tip can give you further information about the problem.

If we want to keep fast local CSS or JS file (in Scratchpad), it can be done with one click. The Style Editor now saves CSS files loaded via file:// URLs without prompting.

SPDY is on by default - it allows for multiplexing and connection sharing and is SSL only.

Firefox 13 runs very stable, so you should try it.

Enjoy Your Day ahead!

ComputersIs Google In Danger Of Being Shut Out Of The Changing Internet? by loopbenbamicom(op): 8:45am On Mar 24, 2012
Hi Guys i hope you feeling strong for the day ahead. May God lead you

I Woke up this morning around 03:15am, On getting to my Bing page i noticed something that hasn't cut my eye recently and that is Yahoo and Bing(What are they doing together...hmm i wonder). Obviously i know about facebook and Bing combination where Bing search result are displayed on facebook ...but now Yahoo search and Bing search

whats happening on or to the internet?

The imminent IPO of Facebook, the brickbat surrounding Twitter’s decision to censor some tweets, and Google’s weaker-than-expected 4th-quarter earnings all point to one of the big events and question of this age.

The bats in the belfry days of the Internet are ending. Once, the priorities use to be open and shared by everyone. Then the farmers arrived and fenced them in. The same thing appears to be happening to the Internet: Apple, Amazon and Facebook are putting up fences — and Google is increasingly being left outside.

Vividly the old Internet on which Google has thrived is still there, of course, but like the back country it is shrinking. Most of the times, we sign up for Facebook or Amazon’s private version of the Internet. At other times, we use a smartphone and download an App instead of using Google search.

Investors are already placing their bets on who the winners of the new Internet will be: Over the past five years Amazon’s shares, despite their recent fall, have risen 370%. Apple’s are up 438% at least one of my closest just bought one of their products (lol). Google’s, meanwhile, have merely risen by 17% in all that time. It is still the early days of this long-term trend, but my forewisdom is that this gap in performance will widen over the coming year — and that Google’s long slow decline has already begun.

What makes Google’s predicament so serious is that it has little to do with technology and everything to do with business models. You can buy or copy technology, but changing a business model is about the hardest thing any company can do. Google’s business model, and nearly all its revenue and profits, depend on the Internet remaining open. When we search, Google pockets billions from advertising. If the old Internet is changing, Google’s original way of doing business loses value.

Let me start with Apple:

WebmastersDo You See Yourself As An Internet Citizen by loopbenbamicom(op): 5:09pm On Mar 12, 2012
After chatting with one of my mates in Bristol i realized how much time we all spend online every 24 hours. She said "Bamie this week I plan to renew my UK passport, something that needs to be done every ten years. Besides making me think back to the past ten years of my life and forward to the next ten, it made me think more generally about how I consider myself – and that’s not really ‘British’ any more.

Having lived in the UK my whole life, I’m obviously a British citizen, but I don’t feel like one. I spend my entire day working alongside people based in places as diverse as San Francisco,Lagos and Bangkok, and talking to people from all around the world via Skype, email and IM. My day doesn’t end at 6pm, I’m frequently answering emails from abroad into the small hours and when I do switch off from work I’m often thinking about the places I’d like to travel to around the world.

In short, I think of myself as a global citizen – not a British citizen. Moreover, I think of myself as being as much an online being as I do a physical one. There’s maybe more of my personality swilling around the Internet than you’d find if you met me face-to-face

Sure, I live in the UK, pay UK taxes and use UK public services, but national borders are increasingly a hindrance to my life. Sometimes it’s artificial geographic boundaries holding me back (apps not available on my country’s app stores, albums not offered on Spotify here because they’re only physically available in the US, Netflix not carrying the same catalogue worldwide). Other times, it’s the fact that spending so much time online gives me an international outlook on things that makes national laws and local politics seem petty compared to the opportunities out there in the big wide world.

It got me thinking, can’t I renounce my British citizenship and become a global citizen?
