Many people have their secular reasons and taste when it comes to diet. Some (reasons) are warped while some are straightforward. Some (reasons) are foreign-induced while some are locally-induced. Bottom line is that for every reasons guiding your styles of diet, pleasure and satisfaction should be guaranteed.

Now, on the subject matter, say personally, I enjoy using my bare hands, as long as they are clean. But I feel embarrassed sometimes when I try that at some eateries(the likes of Mr. Biggs; Superfoods....), with the kind of scorn faces people stare at me. Thank goodness I'm a well educated fellow, someone almost called me "Ará oko"__"Bush man", when I requested for water to wash hands upon a few wraps of Iyán and Egusi soup, in one big eatery at Abeokuta recently. I rebuked the attendant's reluctance, coupled with her unsolicited advice to do with the cutlery(she pointing the situation of the cutlery). In a nutshell, she apologised and after which I implored them to always make provision for such African dish to be enjoyed by consumers who are not shy enough to suit their tastes in the African style.

Well, some of you will agree with me that some use cutlery for swallow foods, not just because they are shy of how the public would interpret them, but also because some have this crude sense of making themselves look posh or civilised or foreign, may be when on a date, or a special gathering/party/event or a crowded place/eatery, especially such that one couldn't find any one eating Amala et al. without cutlery.

But truth be told, some of you that use cutlery know full well in your heart that you would enjoy the meal better if bare hands were employed, but for one reason or the other...that, I call ENSLAVEMENT!

I know some people belong to the category of those who would first ask for cutlery for swallow foods at public events, but who wouldn't dare use cutlery in their privacy, when no one is watching. This I call HYPOCRISY!

And for those who inured in cutlery for swallow foods at your own displeasure & discomfiture, just to satisfy one "hot" guy/girl...this I call STUPIDITY!

Conclusively, I believe it doesn't mean that all (Africans especially) that use cutlery for swallow foods don't really enjoy the style. Some genuinely prefer cutlery for such meal. But for those "modernfucker" hypocrites out there...YOU R ON YA OWN! kiss kiss kiss

As for me and my family^

You are one to talk about spouting nonsense.

Anyway, Gentlemen, on the denial of causality/ the law of cause and effect, I have had an extensive discussion previously with Jayriginal, and there is no point repeating myself. The discussion starts here -

Religion / Pastor Hacks Wife For Failing To Attend Church by LordBabs(m): 4:49pm On Dec 15, 2013
The police in Ogun State have arrested a pastor with a first generation pentecostal church, Daniel Samuel, for allegedly attacking his wife, Patience Samuel, with machete and inflicting deep cuts at the back of her neck.

The pastor allegedly attacked his wife over her alleged persistent failure to attend prayer meetings and other church programmes.

Our correspondent gathered that 45- year-old David, who became the pastor of the Ode Remo branch of the church about a year ago, had travelled to Owode-Egba in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, where his wife works and allegedly hit her with the machete that left her injured.

Punch Metro learnt that the pastor had accused his 42-year-old wife of shirking in her dedication to church programmes.

The pastor was said to have on several occasions complained to his in-laws about his wife’s obsession with office work at the expense of her family and church services.

Our correspondent however learnt that Patience also sells firewood, charcoal and food at the Redemption Camp to augment her husband’s N15,000 monthly salary and to support their five children.

An elder brother of the victim, Samson Akpikie, was said to have earlier arranged a meeting between the couple and other district pastors of the church for December 15 (yesterday) to resolve their lingering differences.

But the Pastor, who could not wait, was said to have visited his wife at her station where their disagreement degenerated into a heated argument. The pastor allegedly attacked his wife with a machete during the argument.

It was said David initially alerted the neighbours that his wife was attacked by some unknown men.

But doctors at the Federal Medical Center, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, where the injured wife was taken to, ordered that the case be reported to the police.

The pastor was said to have gone to the Owode-Egba Police Station, where he told the police that the woman was attacked by unknown men.

The police were said to have detained the pastor who later confessed to the crime after interrogation.

The Ogun Command Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The pastor is with us, he initially lied to the police that his wife was attacked by some men, but later confessed after interrogation. He will soon be charged to court for false information and wounding.”

At the FMC, our correspondent observed that the pastor’s wife could only utter some incoherent words when she was asked questions.

The Consultant of Orthopaedics and Trauma, who was in charge of the patient, Doctor Ojeblenu, said the woman would remain under close observation because of the depth of the injury and the psychological trauma she might be going through.

Education / ASUU Strike: FG Makes U-turn by LordBabs(m): 4:46am On Dec 11, 2013
The Presidency said on Monday it was no longer interested in the December 9 deadline it handed over to the striking university teachers to return to work.

Rather, it said it was satisfied with the lecturers’ level of compliance with the directive to them to resume work or be sacked.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said this while briefing journalists on the payment of the N200bn by the Federal Government into the “Revitalisation of Universities Infrastructure” account with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Okupe’s claim of “substantial compliance” was however described as total falsehood by the Academic Staff Union of Universities leadership, which also said it would not attend a meeting on Wednesday(today) with the Supervising Minister of Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, and vice-chancellors on the University Needs Assessment Report Implementation Committee.

Okupe had told journalists that the Federal Government was soft pedalling on the threat to sack the defiant ASUU members because many senior citizens and institutions had intervened.

He said that as of Sunday evening, government had reports that there was substantial compliance by many lecturers with the directive.

The Presidential aide added that the development encouraged the government to mellow down on its earlier tough stance.

He cited the University of Lagos as an example of a public university where in the Faculties of Law, Arts and Science, out of 100 lecturers, “ between 60 and 70 signed up to resume work.”

The trend, according to him, was replicated in “virtually all the universities in the country, including the Obafemi Awolowo University and University of Ibadan.”

Okupe said, “The ultimatum is not a matter for discussion anymore. I told you, there has been substantial compliance nationwide. If I say you must return to work on the 9th and 70 per cent of the people that I am talking to have returned to work, that is substantial compliance.

“What becomes of the remaining 30 per cent who did not return to work, these are issues that we do not want to stop the wheel of progress in sorting out this resolution. We are not interested in a witch-hunt; we are more interested in compliance and in the resolution of the crisis.

“Many senior Nigerians, institutions and organisations, including labour unions such as the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, as well as royal fathers have intervened and have pleaded with the government to soft pedal on the issue of ultimatum.”

Asked if the government was serious about the ultimatum in the first place, he replied “Yes.”

Okupe explained that the government was forced to issue the ultimatum because every other avenue to end the strike had been explored to no avail.

He said, “I said it before that governments worldwide, when pushed to the wall take steps that may be draconian but sometimes, they have to be taken in order to protect the citizens and the states they govern.”

The Presidential aide accused the media of presenting the strike as if the Federal Government and ASUU were in a face-off.

He said, “There is no face-off between the government and ASUU.

“ASUU may be grandstanding but the government is more interested in the resolution than in any form of confrontation with any union whatsoever.

“Our interest is to ensure good governance, orderliness and peaceful coexistence nationwide and among all sectors of the economy and that education is not left behind.”

While giving further evidence that the N200bn had been paid, Okupe released a copy of the letter written by the Deputy Governor of CBN, Mr. Tunde Lemo, to the Accountant General of the Federation, to journalists.

The letter, with reference GVD/DGO/GEN/MPA/05/151 and dated December 10, 2013, reads in part, “Confirmation of the execution of your mandates for the credit of account No: 00200xx522, Revitalisation of Universities Infrastructure Account.

“I write to confirm the execution of the following mandates by the CBN for funding of the above mentioned account as follows:

1. Mandate FDL/LP201340/1/30/DF: N129,300,000,000:00

2. Mandate FD/FA/124/Vol X11/120/1DF: N20,700,000,000:00

3. Mandate FD/LP2013/40/1/DF :N50,000,000,000:00

“I wish to further confirm that the available balance in the aforementioned account is N200bn (two hundred billion naira) only.

“Please accept the assurances of my best regards.”

With this, Okupe said there was no need for the continuation of the strike.

He said the President of ASUU, Dr. Nasir Fagge, had assured last Thursday that if there was proof of payment of the sum, the strike would be called off immediately.

Okupe said, “I hereby show the proof of payment to all Nigerians, not only to ASUU and to let the people know that when we say that this administration has no credibility issue, we mean it.

“We have kept our cool; we have taken a lot of insults and all that and things that were disparaging but we are glad to show this proof that this has been done as we said.”
