Hon. Ahmed Abubakar Ndakene today met with the Director General of NTA, Yakubu Ibn Mohammed in his office today. Part of the discussion held with the DG was the completion of the abandoned NTA station at Patigi. https://i2.wp.com/youthvibes.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/IMG-20190827-WA0042.jpg In the course of the discussion, the DG said “I was a General Manager at NTA Bauchi when NTA Patigi was created as a community television. But the Broadcasting Authority could not get the required funding from the then government to complete the project. I could also remember that the late emir of Patigi wrote a letter regarding the said NTA and I responded appropriately to him on the situation of the project. It would become easy for us to push for the completion since we have a determined legislator, Hon. Ahmed who is ready to give the needed and necessary support to push for the appropriation of the project in the national assembly”. The DG expressed his excitement and promised to provide technical support for the completion of the project before the end of the year, 2020. The Honorable member, appreciated the Director General for the warmth reception and promised to seek support of his colleagues at the green chambers to collaborate with the Management of the authority on the project. |
Kogi-Born Emmanuel Oluwasayomi Ahmadu, Popularly known as "Mr Voiceover" is a graduating student from the department of Mass Communication, University of Benin. https://i1.wp.com/youthvibes.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/img-20181127-wa0001106554347.jpg Mr Voiceover is proficient and endowed with many talents. Among others, He is a Voice-Over Artiste, a budding Nollywood Actor, Writer and an Entrepreneur. He revealed that His Journey to stardom didn’t come on a platter of gold, neither was it attained on the bed of roses as he had suffered countless setbacks and endured several heartaches which oftentimes triggers suicidal thoughts, but he never succumbed to. Mr Voiceover made this known recently, during the award ceremony organised by West Africa Citizens Award in Lagos where he bagged the international award for Student Brand Of The Year West Africa. In his words, “for me to have been among the graduating students and to have also represented the University of Benin and represented Nigeria on international scene means that anyone can succeed irrespective of whatever militating challenges or setbacks” he said. Mr Voiceover who is an orphan further revealed that the hard times he faced as a result of family issues while growing up forced him into attending sixteen (16) primary schools and fourteen (14) secondary schools and thereafter made him struggle to pass his o’level examination that would usher him into the University. Speaking further, he disclosed that he found it difficult to get into the higher institution on time because he did not pass his exams in many sittings, he said “I wrote o’level exams seventeen (17) times until I finally passed it in 2014, although it was not easy to have gone to several schools, wearing secondary school uniforms after many years of graduation and seeing your former junior colleagues who have gone to the University, now your teacher in secondary school. It was so shameful and embarrassing to bear.” He added that more of his story would be available in his soon-to-be-published book on Amazon. https://youthvibes.net/i-wrote-olevel-exams-17-times-uniben-graduating-student-reveals/ |
Few days after the crash of MMM money doubling scheme in Nigeria, another Ponzi scheme has started in Nigeria. It is believed that the new scheme is modeled after MMM as NNN promises 35% on investments by participants. According to a statement on its website, “NNN is a community of ordinary people, selflessly helping each other, a kind of mutual aid. This is the first sprout of something new in modern soulless and ruthless world of greed and hard cash. The goal here is not the money. The goal is to ACQUIRE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.” According to the website, NNN is owned by the participants, its a community by the people and for the people. A team of freedom lovers in America headed by an influential Yoruba man came up with a logic ad tested it offline in New York City in 2014. In September 2015, these men held a conference in VI Lagos where they introduced NNN logic. It was an improved MMM system- there will be no moratorium and the system will be automated. http://so-dawn.com/mmm-crashes-nnn-rises-new-ponzi-scheme-hits-nigeria/

1. Nigeria is the country with the highest burden of sickle cell disorder in the world 2. Over 150,000 babies are born each year with sickle cell anemia in Nigeria 3. Over 40 million Nigerians are carriers of the sickle cell gene 4. Due to lack of care, average life expectancy of people with sickle cell in Nigeria is still very low – less than 20 years; whereas in the US, it is now over 60 years; (i.e., in Nigeria, many still die young) 5. People with sickle cell usually suffer severe pain 6. Children with sickle cell can get stroke – which could be fatal which could leave them paralyzed for life 7. People with sickle cell sometimes suffer a breakdown or degeneration of the hip joint/bones and end up unable to walk 8. Persons with Sickle cell tend to suffer extensive, chronic leg ulcers or sores that cause them much debilitation and social isolation 9. Socially, they suffer stigma and discrimination 10. Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) is a cure for sickle cell, but it is not widely accessible and not everyone with sickle cell is a suitable candidate http://so-dawn.com/2016/10/06/10-facts-about-sickle-cell-disorder/

Sex releases something called the “cuddle chemical”, which could also inspire spirituality. After having sex , do you ever feel like heading off to church? You know – you’ve just had some good times, you’re snuggling down, and think, “yes, I think I’ll say a prayer now”. If you feel prompted to do such things, science might explain it. Especially if you’re male. According to new research, having sex could inspire some sort of divinity within us – a greater sense of purpose, perhaps. Researchers at Duke University say that sex could inspire a belief – or an increased belief – in God and religion. Sex releases something called oxytocin. It’s also known as the “hug hormone” and “cuddle chemical”, as it plays a crucial role in love and affection. Oxytocin occurs naturally within us and is stimulated during sex, childbirth, and breastfeeding. For a long time the chemical has been known to promote social bonding, trust, and even altruism. Now, scientists at the North Carolina university in America say it could also incite spirituality in men too. Research assistant, Professor Dr Patty Van Cappellen, says: “Spirituality and meditation have each been linked to health and well-being in previous research. “We were interested in understanding biological factors that may enhance those spiritual experiences. “Oxytocin appears to be part of the way our bodies support spiritual beliefs.” According to the study, spotted by the Bath Chronicle , women produce more oxytocin than men, but Duke University hasn’t yet studied its effects on female godliness. To test the chemical reaction in men, participants were given the hormone, and others received a placebo. The men who got a dose of the “hug hormone” were more likely to say that spirituality was an important part of their lives. It had meaning. They said so whether they’d previously noted that faith was a major aspect of their lives or not. Those who took part also said they’d be more likely to see themselves as “interconnection with other people and living things”, the study reports. Oxytocin, it seems, sparked more positive emotions, such as awe, gratitude, hope, inspiration, love, and serenity. But it didn’t affect everyone equally – those with a certain gene, called CD38 and which regulates its release in the brain, had a much more amplified response. The study was published online in Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience . Prof Van Cappellen adds that another study needs to be carried out with women as the chemical operates differently between genders. “Oxytocin’s effects on women’s spirituality still needs to be investigated,” she says. http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/26/having-sex-makes-men-more-likely-to-believe-in-god-research/ |
Spunky is a terminally ill 12-year-old dog whose last wish is to play in the snow, at least according to his owner, Ashley Niels. The pair moved from Wisconsin to Austin in 2008, and for eight years the pup saw no snow. “He is a total snow dog and could play in snow drifts for hours and be just fine,” Niels told The Dodo. “He loves snow, playing in it and eating it!” But now, Spunky has only a few days to live. Last week, the aging canine was taken to a vet where he was found to be internally bleeding due to hemangiosarcoma, a type of cancer. On Friday, members of the community and the Austin Animal Center came together to rent Spunky a snow machine. But Spunky didn’t play in the snow. He sat peacefully and watched it for the last time while his owner pet him. With Spunky’s final request, local shelter dogs got to experience the joy of playing in the snow, too. For most of them, it was their first time. “They all had a great time,” said Kasey Spain, a spokesperson for the Austin Animal Center. “They were really curious what was going on. Once they got over the initial confusion, they were sniffing and playing in the snow.” http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/25/terminally-ill-dog-throws-snow-party-for-animal-friends-video/

Selena Avalos needed chicken . So she did what any normal person would do, and ordered a box of wings from Domino’s . The thing is, the pizza chain got Selena’s order a bit wrong – and instead of delivering some tasty meat, dropped round a big box of dough . Selena, a Spacetel Wireless manager from San Jose, California, found herself with $5,000 in her hand. Selena had a decision to make. Should she keep the cash and order her much-needed chicken wings? No. She put her hunger to one side and decided to be honest. She told ABC 7 that she could immediately guess where the cash had come from – it was the restaurant’s bank deposit. Selena called the branch of Domino’s back. Weirdly, she didn’t hear back until 24 hours later. When she did, however, the company came round to collect the cash. Selena’s good nature and honesty seriously paid off. Even though she didn’t get to keep the $5,000, she got a week off, paid. And Domino’s rewarded her with free pizza for a year. The branch of Domino’s probably needs to rethink the way it deals with its bank deposits. Especially since this isn’t the first time it’s happened. In September last year, Mike Vegas also got a wad of cash after ordering wings. Although not quite so much. http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/26/woman-finds-5000-cash-in-dominos-box-photos/

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is dangerous because it can lead to strokes, heart attacks, heart failure, or kidney disease. The goal of hypertension treatment is to lower high blood pressure and protect important organs, like the brain, heart, and kidneys from damage. Treatment for hypertension has been associated with reductions in stroke (reduced an average of 35%-40%), heart attack (20%-25%), and heart failure (more than 50%), according to research. High blood pressure is now classified as a blood pressure greater than 140/90 in people under age 60, and greater than 150/90 in people over age 60. To prevent high blood pressure, everyone should be encouraged to make lifestyle modifications, such as eating a healthier diet, quitting smoking, and getting more exercise. Treatment with medication is recommended to lower blood pressure to less than 140/90 in people younger than age 60, and less than 150/90 in people older than age 60. Treating high blood pressure involves lifestyle changes and possibly drug therapy. Lifestyle Changes to Treat High Blood Pressure A critical step in preventing and treating high blood pressure is a healthy lifestyle. You can lower your blood pressure with the following lifestyle changes: Losing weight if you are overweight or obese Quitting smoking Eating a healthy diet, including the DASH diet (eating more fruits, vegetables, and low fat dairy products, less saturated and total fat) Reducing the amount of sodium in your diet to less than 1,500 milligrams a day if you have high blood pressure; healthy adults should try to limit their sodium intake to no more 2,300 milligrams a day (about 1 teaspoon of salt). Getting regular aerobic exercise (such as brisk walking at least 30 minutes a day, several days a week) Limiting alcohol to two drinks a day for men, one drink a day for women In addition to lowering blood pressure, these measures enhance the effectiveness of high blood pressure drugs. Drugs to Treat High Blood Pressure There are several types of drugs used to treat high blood pressure, including: Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) Diuretics Beta-blockers Calcium channel blockers Alpha-blockers Alpha-agonists Renin inhibitors Combination medications Diuretics are often recommended as the first line of therapy for most people who have high blood pressure. However, your doctor may start a medicine other than a diuretic as the first line of therapy if you have certain medical problems. For example, ACE inhibitors are often a choice for a people with diabetes. If one drug doesn’t work or is disagreeable, additional medications or alternative medications may be recommended. If your blood pressure is more than 20/10 points higher than it should be, your doctor may consider starting you on two drugs or placing you on a combination drug. http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/25/hypertension-treatments-lifestyle-changes-and-medications/ |
How do you know if you’re good in the sack? You might think you’re the one, but lovers might say so out of politeness… or, possibly worse, they could simply be faking it. It’s hard. Flipping it round, you’re probably also concerned about your partner. Well, your potential partner. How do you know if the person you’re seeing is going to be good news in the sheets? There are signs, apparently. “Every girl who feels the need to tell me she’s good at giving head or having sex without me asking, is usually terrible. I’d assume it’s the same with men.” They’re musical “I’d say a man who plays a stringed instrument or brass instrument is usually good. My fiance is a former trombone player and I can definitely vouch for him.” “I’ve always heard that fellas that are good dancers are good at f******. No idea if it’s true or not.” “Dancing. Dancing requires good hip action/rhythm.” They listen “A man who is genuinely attentive to carrying a conversation, and also attentive as to whether I’m enjoying myself at whatever activity we’re out at. Basically, a man who cares about a woman’s happiness.” “People who are good listeners and generous are usually great in bed. If it’s not the first time, it will get better.” Cats (of course) “It’s probably been said a bunch before, but a man who’s good at petting cats is probably an attentive lover. Some people just like to maul their fluff. If the cat is purring and clearly loves it, it shows that the guy is good at paying attention to what another creature likes (and will probably do the same in bed).” Straight up “When they drop monster condoms for their magnum dong on the floor at the pharmacy.” “Makes love like an eagle falling out of the sky.” “They’re always smiling.” Finally, kissing “The way they kiss. In my experience, the man who puts his whole tongue down your throat is also the one to jam his cock into you without any kind of pre-intimacy and jackhammer away.” http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/24/the-subtle-signs-that-youre-good-in-bed/ |
Do you want to talk to a girl you don’t know? Here are 5 ways on how to approach a girl that will definitely help you make a great first impression. Walking up to a girl you’ve never spoken to before is like taking a dip in icy water. It makes you nervous. Your heart starts beating faster than you can count. And your stomach inches closer to your tongue with each step you take. But as a guy, knowing how to approach a girl is one of the most important things to know in the dating world. Now I’m not going to make this any more difficult that you already assume it to be. Yes, talking to a girl who’s a stranger is not easy. But then again, if you know just how to do it without appearing like you’re picking her up, you’ll realize just how easy the whole game can be. How to approach a girl you don’t know Forget pick up lines, forget bumping into her, and every other *smart* move you’ve heard. I’ll teach you to keep it simple, and help you win her heart even before you say ‘hello’. Here’s the only tip that matters and you need to remember it for the rest of your dating life. Always let the girl know you want to talk to her before you even talk to her. Don’t make the mistake of approaching a girl out of the blue and asking her out. It almost always never works, unless you’re a smooth talker with the gift of gab. If you’re a regular joe who wants to turn into a chick magnet, just follow these steps and you’ll win her attention before you finish your drink! Getting her attention You need to let the girl know you’re going to approach her. So warm her up to that idea to begin with by using these steps. #1 Glance at her. Look at her now and then just to let her know that you’re trying to catch her attention. Be sneaky and discreet, and always look away just as soon as she catches your eye. You’ll rouse her curiosity and that’ll force her to look at you now and then to see if you’re still watching her. #2 The eye contact. Each time she looks at you, look at her and immediately look away sheepishly. Continue to look at her now and then, and once in a while, lock your gaze at her for a small fraction of a second and look away again. By doing this, you’re already building the S3@.x:’ual attraction. But if she doesn’t reciprocate here, she’s probably not interested in you. #3 Appear awkward. If you’re with your friends, look at her now and then, but appear like your distracted and not able to focus on the conversation you’re having with your friends. By doing that, you’re making her see that she’s on your mind and you’re too distracted to focus on your friends. That’s subtle flattery! #4 Smile at her. Exchange eye contact now and then, one or two times every minute and no more than that, and when you feel pretty courageous, flash a tiny smile from the corner of your lip for a second, and let her notice your smile. Don’t give her a big grin though, a malicious big grin at this stage will scare any girl away. These moves are all about building the connection and letting her know you’re interested in her. And at the same time, it’ll also help you understand if she too is really interested in you. If she responds to your gestures similarly, it’s a sign that she’s interested in talking to you too. But if she starts ignoring you at any point here, she’s probably not interested in you and you need to make your luck somewhere else. How to start talking to the girl Now that you’ve built the attraction and the chemistry, all you need to do is walk up to her and say something. Use these tips to approach her and start the right conversation.#1 Waiting for the moment. Sometimes, all you need to do is wait for the girl to give you a chance to talk to her. If she’s really interested in you and wants to talk to you, she’d create enough opportunities for you to walk up to her. She could do this by walking to the ladies room alone, stepping away from her friends by answering a phone call, or even by just smiling at you and leaving the place. It’s always easier to talk to a girl when she’s by herself. There are no distractions from her friends or awkward moments because she’s already expecting you to approach her. #2 Picking her up from afar. Gesticulate. Use the right gestures to get her attention. This is tricky, but as long as you get the message across, it’ll still work as long as you do it confidently. Look straight at her, and smile. Jerk your neck sideways just a little bit after you lock your eyes with her, and using your eyes, point her to the bar counter or some exit. Even if she doesn’t get it, you can walk up to the place you were pointing at by yourself, and she’ll know what you mean. Not all girls may appreciate you gesticulating at her and asking her to walk up to you, but if you’ve built the chemistry from afar, she’d be more than happy to get away from her friends and give you a chance to talk to her. #3 The group of girls. Walk up to her with your gaze fixed on her confidently. Walk right into the herd, but look straight at her and only her. Look at anyone else, and the envious friends would pounce on you with snide remarks because you didn’t pick them to flirt with. “Hey… I really don’t mean to interrupt you girls, but could I speak with you for a minute? I just won’t be able to forgive myself if I left this place without getting to know you…” Use any line you want and it’ll work as long as you say it firmly, but remember to make her feel special by saying something that reveals how badly you want to get to know her. And unless her friends seem to take your side by nudging her towards you or by smiling widely, completely avoid looking at them. You’d only be asking for trouble. #4 Buy her a drink. This is something that can work very well at a bar, as long as you’ve already built the eye staring up and roused her interest. Buy her the same drink she’s already having, and ask the waiter to offer it to her. The waiter will probably drop a corny and grand message like “the gentleman sitting over there would like to offer you this drink…” When she accepts the drink and looks towards you smiling, that’s your cue. Don’t wait any longer or she’ll think you’re a coward. But if you buy her a drink without building the connection first, you’ll just come off as a creepy guy. #5 A twosome. If there are just two girls, walk right up to them while staring at the girl you like. If the girl’s interested in you too, her friend will slip away quietly with an excuse. But even if the friend decides to stay, just introduce yourself and say something similar to the line used in #3. But this time, include the girl’s friend in your conversation and make her feel good about herself too. But don’t forget to keep the focus on the girl you like! Keep these conversation moves in mind and it’ll definitely do you good. But if you want to make sure it works all the time, build the tension and the mystery first with your glances and your eye contact. You’ll always end up impressing the girl even before you approach her. Use these tips on how to approach a girl you don’t know and with a few attempts, you’ll have no trouble walking up to any girl you like and impressing her within minutes of making eye contact with her! http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/24/how-to-approach-a-girl-you-dont-know-and-impress-her/ |
Looking at the 300-year-old corpse of a child saint is enough to freak some people out. But what if that corpse then opened its eyes suddenly. That’s what’s alleged to have happened in Mexico recently at the Cathedral of Guadalajara. The corpse is that of St Innocence who allegedly took First Communion with the rest of her classmates against her father’s wishes. He stabbed her to death and so she was treated with wax and laid to rest in the cathedral But recently, a visitor to the site decided to film the corpse and he caught the moment her eyes appeared to open. He said that he didn’t realise what happened until later on when he showed the footage to his family. Take a look at the video below and judge for yourself. It’s the ultimate “Transformers” toy: a real car that transforms into a robot. Turkish company Letvision recently unveiled “LETRONS,” a BMW that can turn into a giant robot. The company said it took a team of 12 engineers and four technicians at least eight months to create the transforming BMW. There are a couple of downsides to the giant toy. The car can’t be driven, but it is remotely-controlled. Also, when it’s in robot-mode, the car can’t walk (although the company said they were working on adding that capability). The transformation was also a little slow, but hey, it’s still a car that transforms into a giant robot. There’s no information about how much one of these babies will set you back, but the company said LETRONS will be for sale “if the buyers’ project and their reasons for use, meets the criteria.” Watch Video: http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/24/real-life-transformers-car-produced-turkey/

On the Saturday of the week he arrived he started aching. His back it was, after administering routine pain killers he went upstairs to try and sleep. An hour had gone by then I received a call from my mum telling me to please come and take him to the hospital this was past 11pm. I rushed up as fast as I could and carried him to the car then drove to the hospital on getting there I realised I forgot his shoe as I was in a major haste so I had to carry him all through (not like he could walk due to the pain), after about an hour at the clinic we went back home. I got him on his bed then left for my room praying I don’t get my own share of episode after the last one I had a month and half ago. I tried to sleep but got woken up by the intense pain at my waist line this was around 3am. Great!! Of all times. Telling myself I have been through this a lot of times ama definitely ride the pain till morning with the available pain killers. After using the meds i cried and twisted and turned, played music, even tried watching Naruto animation anything to get my mind off the pain and endure, this went on till 6am then thankfully I fell asleep waking up by 9am only to come out and ask after my mum and was told she took my kid bro to the hospital and he had been admitted. What do i do now? I thought. My cousins don’t know bout me being a warrior, they kept on asking what was wrong? I had to send them to wake up my warrior sis who was meant to be at the hospital prepping for her second hip replacement surgery but was around due to the operation being postponed till next Friday. She then hailed a keke (rickshaw) and we rode that to the clinic. On arrival I was poked and poked by doctors to get a vein for the iv line needed to pass fluids but kept failing as usual as all my veins were fast asleep (lol) and tiny. After the high doses of narcotic drugs injected in me I could still barely sleep. About 2hrs & half still twisting and turning with the pain persistent. Mum stuck with my lil bro, dad old, retired and weak, sis with her leg issue and clueless cousins. I thought to myself I have to get out outta here. Thankfully the pains stopped, after observation I was discharged on Tuesday luckily so was my lil bro (we got off easy this time i thought). Wednesday came laying on my bed watching naruto as usual on a lowkey my 24yr-old sis who I initiated into watching and loving naruto came to meet me and to also send a few episodes to her phone to keep her entertained and inspired as she was going on admission at the hospital in preparation for the surgery scheduled on Friday. Later that day my stomach started hurting bad. Great!! Am not out of the woods yet now it’s my stomach ulcer which I hadn’t had any since coming back from school for my internship. The high doses of pain meds triggered it. My God it hurts bad! NB: Don’t forget that the damage caused by my cells has been happening since we were babies. So.. when we have an additional illness (Diabetes, Cancer, lupus, Parkinson, Ulcers etc) it’s is gonna be attacking an already damaged body. So it’s not the same. Back to the pain I quickly drove down to the hospital where I was given meds to reduce the acidity in the stomach and pain meds (which caused this) as my ulcer also comes with an excruciating spine pain and was sent home if only that stopped it. Knowing i’ll be given more pain meds at the hospital I decided to try and stay home and endure the pain. Hardly slept then came Thursday same shit (scuz mi cussing) was reluctant but went back to the doctors place. I have no idea the new meds that was prescribed as i was in agony but the syringe was massively huge I mean this must be the biggest syringe I have seen. Oh well.. if it is gonna make me hurt no more carry on I told the nurse and it was administered and was sent home again. Night fall crept in, again twisting and turning, listening to music watching the motivational naruto just to get my mind off the pain and try and sleep. After throwing up the lil food I could consume and the meds a couple of times I slept for about 4hrs. Woke up Friday morning pain gone, Woo-hoo!! It must be a Friday miracle or was it the thought that i had to be there for my sis who is having her surgery whatever it was boy was I thankful. Before stepping out to meet my sis, had one of those massive injections with the humongous syringe, gladly took it this time and zoomed off to the hospital. On getting there being the clown that I am I tried my possible best to lighten up the ward we were all in till she was prepped for the theatre and I left to go run some other errands and attended the Friday congregational prayers and headed straight back to the hospital. It was around 3pm waited and a few hours later the surgeon came out saying there was a lil complication which is so anatomical even for me having a lil knowledge of anatomy to understand and so the procedure has to be redone in two weeks time. Now am back home no physical pain but my emotional pain for my sis in terrible pain as she won’t be able to stand for 2 weeks as the old implant had already been removed. So yeah!! This is just one week into a Sickle cell family. Now can you try and fathom what we go through? Would you be able to handle this burden emotionally, physically, and not forgetting the monetary burden? Don’t think so. So please and please lets break the circle…. know your genotype. #sicklecellisme #shawnstestimony Todays heroes for tomorrows warriors. Amidst much hype, rumour, speculation and leaked details the shiny new iPhone 7 came out last week. How would it differ to and improve upon its predecessor, the iPhone 6? Costing a cool (minimum) of £599 for the cheapest 32GB option there are some key differences. Some – like a strange and unwanted hissing sound – are more unexpected than others. In the column or ‘pros’ are it having iOS 10 , stereo speakers, a new dual-core processor, an upgraded camera and IP67 waterproofing. However, the one persistent rumour which had people alarmed did turn out to be true: Gone is the headphone jack, and people aren’t happy. Bluetooth wireless headphones are one option, but they’re pretty dear The Lightning-based headphones mean you can’t charge the phone and listen to music at the same time. But don’t worry, innovative YouTuber TechRax has provided a very simple tutorial on how to overcome this problem with one handy hack. Spending a penny just got much more expensive thanks to the unveiling of an 18-karat solid gold toilet. The unusual throne is a work of art by Maurizio Cattelan, but the Italian has taken the unusual step of allowing viewers not only to witness the bowl – but also try it out for themselves. The Guggenheim museum in New York is inviting visitors to the toilet entitled ‘America’, replacing a toilet in one of the museum’s public bathrooms on the fifth floor with a fully functional replica cast in solid gold. Cattelan is often described as the art world’s resident prankster and provocateur. The new work makes available to the public an extravagant luxury product seemingly intended for the wealthy one percent. Its participatory nature, in which viewers are invited to make use of the fixture individually and privately, allows for an experience of unprecedented intimacy with an artwork. A teenage beauty queen has reportedly sold her virginity to the highest bidder after flying to the Dubai to work as a ‘high-class’ sex worker. Anna Feschenko, 17, was apparently offered an all-expenses-paid VIP holiday to the region as well as an £8,000 cash payment to sell her virginity in a deal that was organised through an agency. Russian media reports that she had apparently agreed to stay living in a house with a number of other beautiful young women all working as escorts. The teenager who came second in the 2016 Miss Moscow contest failed to return home to Russia after supposedly travelling to Dubai for a holiday. Police are now involved as she is still a minor. She was only able to go abroad without her parents because she was with a 19-year-old female friend who claims she knew nothing about what was planned. She said that Anna had told her that she had won a two-day trip to the affluent Persian Gulf resort city as a prize in a beauty pageant at the end of August. But she later discovered that the all-expenses-paid holiday, that included flights and hotels, had to be paid for in another way. After two days of shopping and sunbathing by the pool, Miss Feschenko reportedly told her friend Yekaterina that she had come to Dubai to work as an escort. The two friends argued and Yekaterina ended up packing her bag and flying back to Moscow alone. Karina who was another friend that travelled with the pair claims that Miss Feschenko told her that she had agreed to sell her virginity in Dubai to support herself through university. The teenager was supposedly going to receive 800,000 RUB (£8,000) after paying a commission fee to the unspecified agency. Karina says Miss Feschenko is living in a flat with a group of beautiful young girls who are all working as escorts. Her mother Olga Feschenko reported her missing to police although she is now back in touch with her, albeit only via text. Mrs Feschenko said her daughter claims to have bought a ticket to fly home but had failed to send her a copy as proof. The teenager was due to start university this September. Her parents say they have agreed to pay her fees but will not do so until she comes home http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/22/ex-beauty-queen-sells-her-virgnity-for-n3-2m-photos/

Edward Simpson left a single slice of pineapple on a window sill was stunned when it turned into a pineapple…eight years later. And the tropical fruit has confounded the British weather by growing in Huddersfield, west Yorkshire. Now Edward and his wife Maureen, who came to Huddersfield from Jamaica in 1960 and have been married for 57 years, are set to enjoy the fruits of their labours – with the first pineapple to come from the plant. Retired engineer Edward, 84, set about growing the plant eight years ago by putting the leafy top slice of a pineapple in a saucer of water. Later, it was put into a plant pot and fed compost and tomato feed – and left on the window sill on the south-facing side of the house. Edward said: “I used to have an allotment and I would grow cabbages, tomatoes, potatoes and onions, but it got a bit too much for me. “I also planted an apple seed and now we have an apple tree in the garden that has produced a good crop his year.” But even he was surprised at his success in growing the pineapple plant. “It’s the first time I’ve ever grown one,” he said. “You have to have patience and look after it. “There are two shoots on it now so we could get some more fruit from it.” Meanwhile, once it’s ripened, their first crop is destined for the table – served sliced on a piece of gammon. http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/06/pineapple-slice-grows-into-entire-fruit-after-being-left-on-a-window-sill-for-eight-years/

A man has allegedly been killed by his housemate during a knife fight over a washing machine. The 44-year-old died from being knifed in the head and chest after getting into a drunken argument with his friend over the kitchen appliance, it is claimed. It is said the disagreement started last night at around 10.30pm. The victim first stabbed his attacker in the leg, who then retaliated by stabbing him in the head and chest. Police were seen running into a terraced house in Wood Green, north London, at around 11pm after screaming and shouting was heard. A neighbour heard police then break open a bedroom door after screaming “open the door, open the door”. A grandmother-of-seven who lives nearby said she heard that the fight began in a row over a washing machine. She said: “I heard that it was a row over a washing machine. “Before it all happened I saw a guy on the phone standing outside the house and he was talking in a foreign language, but he was really angry. “He then went back in the house and there was this really loud banging and screaming. “I went back to bed and then saw all the blue lights outside so knew something bad had happened. “I went outside because I heard all the commotion. All the people who lived in the house were outside on the grass. “There were people everywhere, when the guy got taken away in the police car there was another commotion and everyone ran back in the house, it was madness, it was terrifying. “I heard what sounded like the police breaking down a door inside the house and screaming ‘open the door, open the door’ someone must have locked themselves in there. “It’s really scary, my grandchildren were scared, they were trying to go and have a look, I couldn’t sleep last night. “It’s so tragic, I feel so sorry for the man and his family, we have some trouble here, there was a shooting a few weeks ago. “The problem is a lot of these houses are rented out so you don’t know who your neighbours are anymore. “The people that live there might have the odd party but they weren’t any trouble. I saw them go into the house earlier in the night carrying beers and stuff.” A 21-year-old neighbour saw one of the men emerge from the house covered in blood. She said: “It was either a drunken row or fight or something like that because we always hear them drinking and making noise. “Last night there was loads of noise, I heard some screaming and then loads of police rushed in, then a guy who lived there came out, there was blood all over him and he was cut up. “Then there was a woman in house screaming, there were people outside running everywhere, it was chaos. “We don’t know who they are as it’s a rented place and there’s always lots of different people in there. “It’s so sad and scary for all of us round here that it’s happened so close to home.” London Ambulance Service said a 44-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A 23-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and was taken to an east London hospital for treatment to minor injuries. Met Police detectives say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/06/man-stabbed-to-death-by-his-housemate-in-knife-fight-over-washing-machine/ |
Disturbing footage has emerged online showing a ‘mutant’ pig born in China. The creature appears to have a human face and a ‘PENIS’ on its forehead. The piglet is seen yawning or gasping for breath as it is held up to the camera. It is unclear where the video originated from but it has been widely shared on Chinese social media. Many viewers are now speculating about the reason behind the animal’s deformity – with some blaming environmental pollution. Last year, a farmer claimed he was inundated with cash offers after photos of a similar mutant pig belonging to him went viral . Friends and neighbours of Tao Lu rushed to his property in Yanan township in the city of Nanning, China, after news of the deformed pig spread. One of the last to be born in a litter of 19, the little piglet was described by witnesses as having a human face and a penis on its forhead. And when a local newspaper published pictures of the bizarre-looking animal, several people contacted Tao, offering to buy it. Sadly, the animal died after being rejected by its mother and refusing a bottle. Tao, 40, said: “It was a large litter, and the mutant was one of the last of 19 piglets to be born. “All the others were normal, just this one was really bizarre. “It is a shame it died, I could have got more money for it than for the rest of the family put together based on what people were offering me on the phone.” Watch Video: http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/06/wonder-pig-with-human-head-and-pe-ns-on-forehead-photosvideo/

A furious girlfriend got revenge on her ex boyfriend by torching his car – but she didn’t realise she got the wrong vehicle. CCTV shows a woman dressed in shorts and a t-shirt shoving pieces of paper into the boot of a Honda and setting it on fire . As the fire rages, the woman casually walks away. But police believe she got the wrong car – as the owner of the Honda, Thomas Jennings, said he has no idea who the woman is. Jennings’s roommate was the first to spot the vehicle on fire and alerted his pal. The pair then rushed out with pots of water in an attempt to put out the fire, but Jennings told ABC Action News it was “too much.” The woman was also spotted on separate CCTV footage earlier that day looking into another vehicle. Carmen Chamblee, 19, was arrested Saturday morning near Clearwater in Florida and charged with second-degree arson. Chamblee told police she believed the vehicle belonged to her ex boyfriend. She was scheduled to appear in front of a judge on Sunday morning. Watch Video:http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/05/woman-sets-car-ablaze-thinking-it-was-her-ex-boyfriends-car-video/

Paul Pogba is Mr Adidas. While Man United pay the £90million man’s pretty substantial salary, the French midfielder also does plenty of work for the sportswear giant. Pogba doesn’t just star in their (often very cool) adverts; he even gets them – and his adidas-wearing mate Stormzy – to essentially tell the world when he’s made a world record transfer. Hence why adidas are providing the Man United man with some fancy new footwear for the biggest game of the season so far. Yes, Pogba will be wearing some snazzy boots for the Manchester derby at Old Trafford: the “adidas ACE16 + Purecontrol Viper Pack”. Snappy title, huh? The adidas Vipers (as we’re going to call them from now on) come in snakeskin, meaning they look pretty damn nifty. For some more detail on the technical side of things, here’s what adidas have to say about their newest boots: The ACE 16+ PURECONTROL Viper Pack version offers a Primeknit upper and NON STOP GRIP (NSG) technology, delivering an unrivalled surface for close ball control, while the X 16+PURECHAOS Viper Pack version features a state-of- the-art PURECUT SOCK SYSTEM,covering the boot laces to give players the ultimate fit. A man who spent 21 years in prison has been freed after a judge threw out his double-murder conviction. Darryl Howard, who had always maintained his innocence, told cheering supporters and news crews he was “going home” following an emotional reunion with his wife Nannie. The 54-year-old was convicted of strangling and sexual assaulting Doris Washington, 29, and her 13-year-old daughter Nishonda in 1991. He has been exonerated by DNA evidence which has since come to light, proving he did not rape the women. Mr Howard told regional newspaper The News & Observer he was excited about seeing his grandchildren and “getting on with his life”. He also said he was not angry. “There’s no time to be angry,” he said. “I’m thankful this is over … I’m just happy right now.” Superior Court Judge Orlando Hudson said if the DNA evidence had been available at Mr Howard’s 1995 murder trial, it would have created a reasonable doubt for jurors. There was no other physical evidence connecting him to the crime, Fox News reported. Judge Hudson threw out the double-murder conviction – and Mr Howard’s 80-year sentence – ordering his immediate and unrestricted release. The case caused controversy as it was prosecuted by former district attorney Mike Nifong, who was later disbarred for lying and misconduct in the Duke lacrosse rape case in 2006 – when three members of the North Carolina university’s men’s team were falsely accused. Mr Nifong had been expected to testify about his handling of Mr Howard’s case and whether misconduct from police and prosecutors helped win a conviction, Fox News reported. But prosecutors decided not to appeal the judge’s order quashing the conviction, which meant he did not have to take to the stand. http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/02/judge-frees-innocent-man-after-21-years-in-jail/

The former military president of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has said that his worst experience in life was when he and his troops trekked several kilometres from Enugu to Umuahia, Abia State, during the Nigeria-Biafra War, while declaring that he is not in any way the evil people think he is. He noted that the long trekking during the Civil War was very tasking as his troop trekked non-stop to reach their destination on time. General Babangida made the revelation at a press briefing in his uphill residence in Minna, when he turned 75 years last week Wednesday, (17 August, 2016). Speaking further, the celebrant said, “I think it was very tough and challenging; you need to be physically fit to be able to undertake such task because we were moving through the jungles, mountains, hills and so on. It was the toughest experience, I ever had.” The retired General said being a military officer was more challenging than being a military president, by experience and exposure, “being a military officer, you are leading men into danger, your life and their lives very much depends on you as the commander. Being the military officer, you are the only one with the troops; you are in charge (commanding). Their lives are on you and if you read a situation wrongly, you will put everyone in danger”. On why he considered being a military officer as challenging, he said as president, “you still have to seek people`s advice; you interact, you discuss based on the prevailing situation you find yourself”. On his experiences since the demise of his wife, the Minna born former Military President said he has been able to cope with the situation with the active support of his children. “It has not been easy, but I thank God that I have children who show remarkable understanding and have been doing their best by trying to do what their mother was doing. I also have a lot of grandchildren and they take most of my time”, the septuagenarian said. http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/02/my-worst-experience-in-life-ibb/

Seven months after halting production, Dangote Tomato Processing Factory, located in Kadawa Village in Kura Local Government Area of Kano State, is to resume production in December. The Managing Director of the company, Alhaji Abdulkadir Kaita, who made the disclosure in Kano on Tuesday, explained that it halted production, principally due to the lack of raw materials to process. Already, he said that the company had commenced preparations for the resumption of production. “Our target is to resume production in December because at that time, it is expected that tomato farmers would have produced enough for the company to process, ”he said. According to him, the company, with capacity to process 120 tonnes of fresh tomatoes per day, will soon commence recruitment of additional staff. “We have planned to recruit additional staff, who will be deployed in different sections of the company to ensure effective service delivery,” he said. It would be recalled that most of the tomato farms in about five states were affected by a pest, popularly known as “Tuta Absoluta”, (ebola), which wiped out all the tomato species in the affected states. The pest had destroyed tomato farms in Kano, Jigawa, Plateau, Katsina and Kaduna states. At optimum capacity, the multimillion-naira company has the capacity to process 120 tonnes of fresh tomatoes per day. http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/02/dangotes-tomato-factory-to-resume-production-in-december/

Treating type 2 diabetes with drugs – rather than simply monitoring diet and living a health lifestyle – can help sufferers live up to EIGHT years longer. Intensive and multi-pronged treatment makes patients 45 per cent less likely to die, by lowering heart and blood vessel problems, as well as reducing the risk of eye and kidney complications by 30-50 per cent. The Type 2 diabetes ‘epidemic’ affects 5-10 per cent of the adult population in most countries, consists of high blood sugar, elevated blood lipids, increased risk of blood clots and high blood pressure – all increasing the risk of vascular and organ damage lowering life expectancy. On top of these side effects, some type 2 diabetes patients have an excess of the albumin protein in their urine, an indicator of damaged blood vessels, which, left untreated, significantly increases the risk of heart disease and premature death. So Danish university researchers analysed a 21-year-long ‘Steno-2’ study, which compared patients receiving intensified and standard treatment for almost eight years, to prove how patients can prolong their lifespan. Doctor Peter Gaede, of Slagelse Hospital and the University of Southern Denmark, said: “The outcome of our study is very encouraging and emphasises the need for early and intensified treatment of multiple modifiable risk factors for a poor prognosis of patients with type 2 diabetes.” Experts hoped to find the differences in lifespan in patients receiving the different methods of treatment, and highlight how sufferers with the extra side effect, microalbuminuria, have a much lower life expectancy. Study co-author Dr Jens Oellgaard said: “In previous reports from the Steno-2 study we have demonstrated the unprecedented efficacy of this structured multifactorial intervention where development of complications in the eyes, kidneys, legs, heart and brain is halved compared with conventional multifactorial treatment.” Patients receiving ‘intensive’ treatment at a specialised diabetes clinic – consisting of a green and low fat diet, more daily exercise and instructions on quitting tobacco, as well as multiple drugs treating blood glucose, blood lipids, blood platelets, blood pressure and microalbuminuria. Regular patients were simply seen by their GP and treated according to existing national guidelines for diabetes care for eight years, then for the next 13 years, patients in both original treatment arms were in a post-trial setting instructed to follow the same multifactorial and intensified treatments as originally given to the intensified group only. Some 21 years after the start of the study, 38 intensive-therapy patients had died, compared to 55 conventional-therapy patients, meaning the original intensively treated patients were 45% less likely to die – surviving a median of eight years longer, and also benefiting from no new cardiovascular complications, and less risk of complications in the eyes and kidneys. Dr. Hans-Henrik Parving, a senior author from the National University Hospital of Copenhagen, said: “This long-term follow-up of the Steno-2 study demonstrates beyond any doubt the sustainability of the intensified and multipronged treatment approach of type 2 diabetes patients with microalbuminuria introduced by us more than 21 years ago. “The benefits for the patients in terms of a major extension of life and a halving of new cardiovascular complications speak for themselves.” The findings were published in the journal Diabetologia. http://so-dawn.com/2016/09/02/new-way-to-manage-diabetes-experts/
