43Ronin: He can't install a protege because at this point it's already too late. Once hausa begin to shout bamayi it means you are leaving power either by hook or crook. The best thing for him to do now is restructure Nigeria back to regionalism. The hate he's supporters have sown in the south is too deep to repair under 3 years. You can imagine not a single protest in the entire SE, igbos that are never united, united because of yoruba hate. He is finished already. He will do like GEJ in 2027 & congratulate whoever because rigging the election will get him killed since he's allies are only yoruba people at the moment. This is politics. Asiwaju is a politician extraordinarie. Remember he still has three powerful proteges (Wike, Osinbanjo, El-Rufai) he can use to consolidate his power, however controversial the names may sound. |

The truth is that even if the Jagaban cuts his head and gives it to the SouthEasterners, they will still never vote him. Of course the North never wanted him from day 1 as evidenced by the presentation of Lawan. If I were Asiwaju, I won’t run again. I will in stead use the next three years to steer the course of this nation in the right direction, crush and totally eradicate northern hegemony, and use all my political clout to install a protege that would consolidate my efforts! |

emkz: (1) I managed about 1000 when I was in high school. (2) I led a team of 8 in engineering projects nationwide, fresh out of NYSC. (3) I also led 4 successful projects in the last ten years. (4) I am non interested in proving anyhting to you, okay?
Various factors contribute to food inflation:
(1) Pervasive insecurity fuelled by local politicians, religious leaders and the military which forced people to abandon their homes and farmlands. You'd find such things in crude oil theft, illegal mining and quest for control of land and water resources. The idea is to collect taxes from the locals. I dont know if you were old enough during the days of Lawrence Anini in the 80s whose accomplices were in the police. If you were not old enough, you'd recall when Jonathan said Boko Haram had infiltrated his government. Now, if a president starts killing thise people, he'd quickly become unpopular as he'd be accused of ethnic cleansing. The security architecture of the country is in the hands of a certain ethnic group. If they can't deal with it, use your tongue to count your teeth.
(2) The lack of offtakers and agro-allied industries to take produce off local farmers, process them, store them and distribute them. Produce get rotten in Benue because no one buys them.
(3) Lack of connecting rail infrastructure to take produce from producing areas to consumption areas.
(4) Traders too, increasing prices even when there is no justification for it. Some of you think if the fuel price is reduced, the prices of goods and services will reduce. It shows how young many of you are. Expect more inflation just because minimum wage was increased.
The reason why I responded to you is as follows: I travelled through many states in Nigeria. You'd see large expanses of land that seem to extend to infinity. Uncultivated land. In the course of my travels globally, I see such expanses of land cultivated in many countries. There are also green houses even in countries without favourable weather. But in Nigeria, we are discussing farmers/herders crisis, grazing routes and retrogressive things. What is more, Nigeria has the best weather in the world. How many state governments have cultivated their lands? Today, many peopl's desires is political appointment. If they can't cultivate their lands, they can get people to come and do it.
Our problems are not insurmountable. People like you need to stop being myopic and start looking for solutions. The problem is that you can't reason with these people. I asked one when we met in a private dinner abroad if he prays Asiwaju succeeds, your guess is as good as mine. Yet, he is in the forefront of opening the book of lamentations when things go awry in accordance with his desires. Very terrible humans I must say! |
Politics › Re: Tinubu's Regime Is Over by LordIsaac(m): 4:16pm On Aug 01, 2024 |
Kushites: Grammar.
The ONLY way to “make things better” in the short term is to reintroduce the fuel subsidies.
Meaning we revert to borrowing $10 billion a year to pay subsidies.
No government is coming in to do that. Not Atiku, Not Obi.
They all condemned the subsidies as fraudulent and unsustainable back then, and promised to remove them if elected.
So stop dreaming.
If you remove Tinubu and replace him with some other politician, nothing will fundamentally change. Indeed, it will set things backward, as that one will now enter and start all over again with something else that will also need some years to reach fruition.
The most practical route is to just let the president have the time he says he needs to fix the economy. Given that the North was quiet during Buhari’s regime, if I were Asiwaju, I will fund all separatist movements so that we can divide the contraption. I will even fund the protests to meet this end. Simple! |
