They’ve been doing that for a while now, when your order remains less than 15 days to the end of buyer protection, you’re eligible for refund.

New things are evolving on AliExpress in recent times!
Before now, the rule is: "buyer can only open dispute at the end of protection period". But it seems there are a number of exemptions to this now : for the first time since I started shopping on AliExpress, I was given an offer to request for a refund on order still in transit, and whose protection period ramains 14 days. It's a big surprise to me! They even tendered apology for delay in the delivery of the item. Well , I've accepted the offer and the refund is already processing.

The order was placed in early January and shipped by Malaysia Post. Estimated delivery time was supposed to be February 20, while BPP is March 23. But this evening, checking on the order to know the current tracking status, I saw this caption in red asking me to "Request for a refund because of delay in delivery". I thought it was a joke, thinking that they might ask me to "supply evidence" that I've not received the item! But when I gave it a try, the refund was approved instantly.

I still messaged them today about my item that’s at airport since Jan 30th, their response, same thing - it’s not with them yet when clearly they know it’s with them.

Aliexpress sef ain’t really serious with their delivery timeline for Nigeria cos if they are, they will hold NIPOST responsible for their shitty delivery time - or maybe it could be that not a significant about of items are delivered via standard shipping people prefer choice items now.

Had it been NIPOST bears the burden of refunding customers when items are not delivered on time ni, dem head for don reset wella.

Was at their office, went to their customer service and they kept on telling me same stories that my packages are not with them. This got me pissed off, when I know fully well that my items are in their warehouse, but because they have not updated the tracking, they will keep saying it's not with them.
I requested they manually check for my items in their warehouse, but they refused. How can items that the tracking says have arrived local airport since November/December still not be updated. And each time AliExpress is contacted, they quickly advise that you should request for refund. This isn't the best way to address such issues. I have told them severally that I do not want any refund. I need my packages to be delivered. I will keep pressing until I receive my packages.

If nothing is done about this, it will keep reoccurring.

Well, I sent someone to pick it up for me and NIPOST told them that my package isn't with them but their customer service reply says otherwise because when I sent a mail their customer service, they told me that my package is with NIPOST Aba.

My order has gotten to NIPOST since 3rd of March after being stuck at "Arrived at local airport" for 30 days.
Now, my destination for delivery is Umuahia post office but for some reason, ABA post office is with my package since 3rd March.
I've contacted NIPOST customer service to forward it to umuahia post office but no response yet and my AliExpress tracking updated me with "Abnormal Status; Package delivery delayed" .
Has anyone had such issues before?

Seems none of us that ordered tablet or phone is getting it cos all items that moved passed airport these days are buds, watches, headphones, speakers, tv boxes etc. no mobiles or tabs.

Mine is like that too since November/December. I have been to Nipost at Nahco. What I observed is that all tracked packages stating "arrived at local airport" are already with Nipost at Nahco. The reason for the delay in the update from "arrived to local airport" to "collected by destination carrier" is as a result of an issue with Nipost with a particular client's package which was claimed missing, but when the client took action by shutting up activities in Nipost until his packages were found, packages remained stuck at the airport, hence the reason why the tracking update remained unchanged from "arrived to local airport" i. However, this ssue was resolved about 2 weeks ago. The main reason why packages started receiving updates.
If your package tracking have not received updates yet, it is because the package bags haven't been opened by Nipost yet. But until then, we just have to be hopeful and pray they don't get missing or stolen.

Taking almost 3 months since it got to local airport to get an update is a crazy stuff sha - Omoh!

UPDATE ON THIS:
I picked up 7 items from my local post office today.
6 were part of my December order.
As at the time of posting this I have picked up 8 out of my 12 orders from December.

NOTE:Pic 1 was picked up today. Pic 2 is the total I have picked up, including the Xiaomi TV stick I ordered early February.

Will update, if the remaining come in. Some are running 90+ days already.

But it's really bad of them to give me 2 months period of when I should expect a response. It is well, If not for nipost rubbish.
Edit: I actually got my refund in 7 days after aliexpress refunded, the card I used wasn't mine, the account owner didn't say anything until I showed proof of uba saying they've refunded.

I don't know if sellers are insured against these losses. Like I mentioned here, something similar happened to me. I ordered for Xiaomi Pad worth over $300+ and requested a refund after the buyer protection time expired. I immediately reordered again, but this time from another vendor as the vendor I earlier ordered from immediately restricted Nigerians from orders above $50 due to that experience.

1 week after I got a refund and ordered a new item, I got notification that the Tab was now with local vendor, a week later it was already with the lost office close to my residence. I researched online but couldn't find conclusively online anything that gave credence to insurance eating the cost, and even if that were the case, incidences like this will mean insurance rate for vendors will significantly increase to cover countries like Nigeria. The most point being I'm no thief and wouldn't take what wasn't mine, as faith and upbringing wouldn't allow me do so.

Reached out to the vendor immediately letting him know the item I got a refund for had now arrived and offered to send it back to him only that he had to bear the cost. He instead offered that I pay for it since it already arrived. I explained I already ordered a new one and would have had I not. He instead offered me a reduction in price of the tab as he got some reason didn't like the option of me sending back to him.

Long story short, we agreed on a price and I paid for it. My advice will be to always reach out to the vendors should you get an item you ordered after refunds have been made. It's the honourable thing to do. Some would even offer it to you for free, but even if they don't, it's just right to do so.

Alternative would be to not go collect from nipost (someone mentioned it here after I had gone to the post office to collect), but even if I knew this prior, still wouldn't have gone for this option cause I'm pretty sure those guys would likely steal it looking at the value, but it's at least an option worth considering.

But then, what’s happening is just proving what I have observed earlier right, so far what you ordered is either a phone or tablet, chances of it not getting delivered is high compared to smaller items like watches, EarPods, tv box or sticks etc.

Mine reached airport by Jan 30, till now not cleared, I’ve zeroed out on it, if dem like make dem deliver, if dem like make dem no deliver am - I’ll get refund last last.

I texted NIPOST other number on their site, they responded and said isn’t in the country yet, same response I got when I mailed them.

I messaged POS Malaysia, they said they can’t pinpoint its exact location cos it was only routed through them.

I messaged EMS Nigeria one time like that, they gave me a number that belongs to NIPOST, it’s even on NIPOST site, I texted the number and till date not a single reply and all messages were delivered.

So probably they just might have some ways of fast tracking items if you do well and pay them (Naija Stuffs) 😃

Aside that, NIPOST is just a last mile courier to some of these international logistics companies, just like SpeedafExpress is on Temu. As things de disappear for NIPOST, na so e de for SpeedafExpress, na frequency we can't compare and speed of delivery.

it's just a daily reminder - not an update per se. You'll always receive it between 9am to 9.30am so long you have an active shipment.
