I mean I lost money but I am yet to pin it down to a particular reason, however, here are some of the reasons that come to mind:
1. Mismanagement: Partner rented bigger house and did wedding after my loss with salary that is not enough to take him back home from work and told me he had no saving few months before I pull the plug on the business.

1a. Partner have supervision of business to someone else and he was hardly there.

2. Overcrowded stocking.... from what I know now, the pond where 5000 was stocked was meant for just 200 fishes

3. Improper feeding... the fish will surely feed on each other since they are crowded and probably my money was being used for other things and not feeding them well

4. I was greedy because I know nothing about the business and proposal was made to me and I jumped in stocking 20,000 fishes.

The list goes on but like i said won't do it again till I find the right person and I have seem that it is a business one must know about it and not just put money and look away and noticed too, it is better to grow with the business and not be greedy.

I prefer concrete for now or the tarpaulin because they are easier.to manage... when u change water u could see the fish head that has been consumed and with clean water u could see the activties in and under the water.....

I am not saying earthen is not good Oh, I am only saying for now, it is not for.me...

Ok, you have said well but in all you don't have any problem because there are many Ogas in the house who are willing to help, even some are using earthen pond. They have answer to every fish farming question.

Lemme give you my novice response.... the day you will introduce the new local feed, starve them the previous night and if they still don't rush it.... talk to robonski and the rest because I am a novice.
On the earthen pond issues, I have been burnt using it and thereby always stay clear to I see someone I will work with nd ready to share the loss if any just like we will share the gain....

Get the following items, Salt (depending on how big your pond is) you can get 15KG, Oxy; just 800 naira worth, and a lot of wood ash from any bakery. Drain the water in the pond. Mix the three stuff together and apply in the pond. Leave them for 48 hours.



Are they eating local feed formula or floating feeds? Your response will determine how to apply drugs inside their feeds.

Sir, they are eating floating(Durante feed)
The infection is just on few, I have seen like two but I only succeeded in removing one out of the pond.

They are all in KG except vitc, premix that are in grams. You can start using them when they clock 4 months

I am doing great my brother. There are different kind of local feed formula. Everything depends on one's pocket. Some farmers introduce maize, koko garri, broiler finisher, pkc etc in their local feed finisher. I mainly use little maize with enough biscuit in my finisher. Making 100kg, it can be fm 10, ts 15 gnc 15 maize 10 biscuit 30 flour 20 premix 0.5 salt 2 vitc 100g dcp 1 molasis 10

Chairman pls don't be annoyed , this things are they all in kg,you our teacher in this thread sometimes speak in "tongues". Please Sir break them down for me and at what month can one start using it.

My Ogas in the house, am just a starter in the fish farm. Please I went to feed the fishes this morning and I discovered that one has wounds all over the body and about three fishes are bringing their nose up to the water level. Pls Sirs what should do? The pond is an earthen pond and the fish is about 3weeks now.

Its very different. The fish meal in the 2nd is local while that of the 1st is danish 72%. The 2nd contains broilers starter while the 1st does not.

Fishes in general does not grow at the same rate, even though they were stocked at the same time there must be changes difference in size.. 2mm is the ideal feed for them at this stage

If they cant pick 2mm Durante keep feeding with coppens, when they are big enough to pick 3mm you can switch to durante.. it might be the size of the feed.

Most time it is two weeks interval. but their growth rate can also determine that. it could be less if their rate is high or more that two weeks if their growth rate is low. but two weeks is the normal interval period to change.
