I can see a lot of ignorance.

Those who can read are blaming NNPCL and FG

Dangote is a business man and he has no intention of subsidizing anything or helping anyone.

Has he ever sold Cement cheaper than Large and BUA?

That Monopoly thing is real. NNPCL knows what they're saying about Dangote.
lol this is the funniest thing I have ever read…NNPCL has spent 25 billion dollars on turn around maintenance on our local refineries and yet those refineries has not refined a single crude for many years ….lol. For almost 20 years you have been importing fuel and suddenly you are worried about monopoly…smh. The truth is this statement “ NNPCL knows what they are saying about dangote” shows you are one of the dumbest human on earth…lol. NNPCL have the opportunity to make our refineries work to save us from the so called monopoly but they choose to import fuel while spending 25 billion dollars on refineries that still cannot produce fuel till date.

All those people shouting Dangote refinery is going to make prices cheaper.

"He plans to sell at international rates, meaning government will buy it expensive from him and subsidized it for the citizens."

He is a 100% Businessman.
Dont let them drag you into their challenges.
These people dont care about us.
Did he buy the crude at local rate? lol do we sell crude at local rate? Is the fuel NNPC importing sold at local rate? Is NNPC not claiming billions of naira monthly for subsidizing the imported fuel?

God bless you, King Dangote is not above the law, his media campaign was to vilify NMDPRA Chair Faruk Ahmed, King Dangote believes in his mind he owns the Nigerian fora. He is not answerable to anybody, not even the president. He even started reselling his crude oil without a license to sell crude within Nigeria.
Thats a big offense if its done by an ordinary individual. Let him run his refinery fro the whole world to see that it works. Thats the first step.
The government should not make the mistake of buying a non-functional refinery from him. He should fix the Crude distilling unit and produce the petrol and the government should test the purity.

“He who comes into equity must come with clean hands.”
lol says a foolish citizen. A mumu like you think a government that spends billions of naira for 20 years doing turn around maintenance on our own refineries and yet not a single crude is refined by those same refineries has clean hands. You don’t find it shocking that a country with crude oil and four refineries has been importing fuel for 20 years….lol. Dumbest set of citizens a country can ever have are all base in Nigeria hence you guys are blessed with the likes of Buhari and Tinubu. A country has spent 25 billion dollars to fixed refineries so far and yet no single crude has been refined by those refineries.

Go and read the article again. Slowly read that part that states that marketers import from overseas and sell in naira in Nigeria. So he has the option of using the local marketers on the fair terms they claimed he is giving to IOCs loading products from him.

Diesel has been completely deregulated so FG gives no subsidy on diesel. Wetin now concern FG? I have suggested a way for him to have more money to run the business since that seems to be a problem for this business, please suggest your own too instead of being uncouth.
Lol will they sell in dollars? I mean they will covert in terms of dollars and sell in naira. Was my comment and attack to you? Or are you not seeing the news of the monopoly attack on dangote?

A few options are available to Dangote but the most viable of them is that he should consider divesting some of his shares in the refinery. It may seem a difficult option but it is the best for him given the circumstances.

Very insightful article. Thank you for sharing OP.

I believe that he can sell some of the shares and buy back those sold shares when the refinery becomes operationally stable and profitable like he did with his Dangote Cement Plc listed on Nigeria Stock Exchange. His Dangote Cement ( DangCem) has been doing share buy back for some years till date.

May God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!
If he decides to sell petroleum base on dollars rate most of you will come for his head saying monopoly shit but the write up clearly stated everything in dollars term

Nigeria needs Dangote refinery. Dangote refinery doesn't need Nigeria. Yes, he has hit a rough patch just like any new business venture does. All he needs now is to get past this stage and get more funding to secure crude from abroad. He will supply to African markets and we will continue our fights with subsidy
It is only a fool that will fight for dumb citizens. Is it not obvious that NNPC has been sabotaging itself? Majority of the people blaming the fall of the naira have zero knowledge of why the naira is falling. You expend billions to import refined petroleum products and sabotage all the refineries in your country…smh

Let me school you. The author is 100 percent right. NNPC currently owes international oil suppliers over USD 6 billion. The corporation also owes Afreximbank at least USD 500 million. These loans are usually services by what is called crude oil swap, which is an exchange of crude oil for loans. The existing agreement indicates Nigeria is unlikely to make any substantial gain from future crude oil sales. When people argue about the country's current economic condition and conclude that violent protests or Tinubu are the cause of the persistent economic challenges, it only exposes the fragility of their ratiocination.
What about the fuel we import? I mean the finished product? Is that not also a swap deal? Is that also tied to the loan?

A large amount of our crude had already been contracted/sold long ago, long before Dangote refinery was completed. We can't afford to default the contractual aggrements with our foreign clients. Supply of crude would have to be resolved on a negotiation table with lots of concessions involved.

-Kiss the truth!
So where do we get the crude for swapping? Was that also contracted out? The greatest problem of Nigeria is the citizens. NNPC have been doing crude oil swap give crude oil and import refined fuel so please tell us what happened to the one they are swapping?

Now that Nigeria has functional refineries, the owners of the refineries are importing crude oil for feed stock.

Nigerian Government is sabotaging Nigeria. First they ensure no refinery functioned for over 20 years. They ensured there was no electricity for over 64 years of independence and then they also destroyed the steel company . They budget huge amounts of money to share as palliative while ensuring that they destroyed Jobs. A private individual finally built a refinery and suddenly Nigeria do not have crude oil to supply the refinery….lol. “These are things you people should look into. You people should focus on where the problem is and let them leave me alone.”
Where was Ndume when his brother was destroying Nigeria? Where was Neymar when the minister of humanitarian was stealing ? Did he protest hardship when Buhari was president? Did the hardship start with Tinubu? When the prices of food moved up by 300 percent when his brother was president is that not a definition of hardship? He should be suspended nonsense northerners
