In 2023 about 150,000 Nigerians applied for US Visa and according to the US embassy the application fee is about $185 which is about N305k and only about 5% of the 150,000 people that applied were successful, meaning about 142,000 application were rejected which amounts to just over $26M.

Meaning the US embassy in Nigeria made over $26M in 2023 from rejected Visas alone.

If we had a government, every embassy would be ordered to refund all or 90% of all rejected Visa fees. But here we are, we keep making money for these countries while we're still indebted to them via loans.

I just have to modify to add that in naira that amounts to over NGN43B, that's the allocation of an entire state in a year, and that's for the United States alone, now do your calculation for the UK and others, you'll understand why these people will never allow Nigeria to work.

Weak institutions cause by corruption is our main problem in this country. Lie, pretence, fraud, incompetency, tribal, religion, politcal affiliation and greed is killing this country slowly.

Let's stop blaming institutions for what we've caused. Institutions and laws don't run themselves. They are run by people. When Institutions are weak, it is because the people are weak. If there is institutionalised corruption, it is because bulk of the people there are corrupt. The laws don't work most times because most pf the people tasked with enforcing it are corrupt, take bribes and look elsewhere. So the next time you say Nigeria is a corrupt country, you are indirectly saying majority of Nigerians are corrupt. So if we want her to he better, it has to be a change in orientation by the people.

This is how many Nigerians who live abroad live their lives but don't tell people the truth. They will rather be calling Nigerian a shithole instead of telling people the truth about how most of them Labour to make a living at the expense of themselves, spouses and kids. Some have to do multiple jobs to make ends meet while for some, both husband and wife will go out to hustle and leave the kids alone but won't tell you the whole truth. They will rather tell you about the glamour but not paint the complete picture. Like I have said before, if many Nigerians work/slave as hard as they work/slave abroad, they will equally live large in Nigeria.

I am against wasting tax payers money in the name of rescuing people who knowingly entered the mess they are in despite numerous warnings from individuals and government agencies. This is also because most of them will still go back after the government must have wasted the money.

This is good. Most of them use certificates obtained in Nigeria for almost free and still call Nigeria a shithole once they leave Nigeria. They talk down on Nigeria as if they've not benefited anything from even when they are using certificates obtained from her to ply their trade abroad.
