CareerRe: Advice Needed:a Masters Degree To Aid My 2.2 Or A Life-changing Trip To Italy? by Lytech(m): 9:18am On Nov 28, 2015
adren:
I am currently stucked in the middle with my head hurting so bad from thinking progressively..

I had a 2.2 in metallurgical and materials engineering and with this system of employment in nigeria- massive graduates, limited jobs, I must confess that i am forced to look elsewhere for my lifetime opportunities..

i believe in myself...YES i do!!! however, quite obviously, my chances of been gainfully employed are low, that is even if they meagerly exist..

so... i have made up my mind... perhaps, because i am still very young or because i am from a lowly background where my father nor my relative can give me a huge amount of money to start a lucrative business..therefore, i want to go all out by myself..

now.. i have two resolutions..

should i go for an eighteen months full time master program to supplement my 2.2 or take this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go hustle for myself abroad..??

which is better??

matured advice needed with experiences...
how did you made it to the top on your own especially when you started from the rock bottom??

Mods please help a brother get to canaanland by doing the needful
that little change set aside for your masters program or traveling to abroad can make you an employer...
Y nt use d fund to invest and be ur own boss........

Why not start a small scale manufacturing enterprise at home? You can make bags, sandals, furniture, and a hundred other items. You'll make more money than a salary could pay you. The advantage you have is the booming economy we have, hence there's a ready market for your products.

PoliticsRe: Latest IMF Figures Show Nigeria As World's 22nd Largest Economy by Lytech(m): 7:39pm On Nov 26, 2015
menesheh:
NIGERIA has been adjudged the world's 22nd largest economy with an annual growth rate of 5% during the course of 2015 according to the latest survey of the planet's wealthiest countries the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to the figures published yesterday, Nigeria's gross domestic product (GDP) is set to total $1.105trn in 2015, representing a 5% growth from last year. Despite global crude oil prices falling by about three quarters over the last year, Nigeria has defied the negative growth that afflicted several crude-producing countries.

Of the world's 30 largest economies countries examined in the survey, oil producers like Brazil and Russia suffered declines in GDP. Africa's two other economies on the list Egypt and South Africa, who were ranked 24th and 30th respectively, enjoyed GDP growth rates of 5.2% and 2.4% respectively.

In terms of growth, Nigeria, was also the sixth highest achiever as only China, India, Egypt, Pakistan and the Philippines recorded higher GDP growth. Other key features of the survey was that China overtook the US as the world's largest economy with a GDP of $19.51trn, India moved into third place thanks to its 8.3% growth rate that bumped GDP up to $8.02trn and Egypt overtook South Africa as Africa's second largest economy.

Over the last 15 years, Nigeria has enjoyed annual GDP growth rates of about 7% but with crude oil prices falling to about $40 a barrel from over $100 a barrel, it is no surprise that growth has slowed. Despite this, the economy continues to diversify and the country remains on course to achieve its goal of becoming one of the world's top 20 economies by 2020.

International Monetary Fund statistics at October 2015

1. China: US$19.510 trillion (up 7.9% from 2014)

PoliticsRe: Roli Bode-George Is Acting Chairman Of NDLEA- The Vanguard by Lytech(m): 11:23am On Nov 26, 2015
HungerBAD:
MRS Roli Bode George has been appointed as the first woman acting Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, following the retirement of Alhaji Ahmadu Giade who has bowed out after serving 10 years in the agency.

MRS Bode George’s appointment is considered by observers as a significant gender balancing at a period when the Buhari administration is being leaned upon to appoint more women in the position of public relevance and reckoning.

The Chairman of Women Initiative Group (WING) Mrs Tinuade Joseph described the appointment as a good step in “redressing the gender imbalance in the recent appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari.”

George is generally perceived as an unobtrusive goal- getter and a quiet but formidable achiever, who has the requisite field training and solid academic credentials to give the NDLEA the cutting edge leadership in the crucial war against drug trafficking and substance abuse.

PoliticsRe: Oshiomhole Is One Of The Best Performing Governors – Emir Sanusi by Lytech(m): 11:10am On Nov 26, 2015
DONSMITH123:
Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has described the performance of Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State as commendable and satisfying.

The traditional ruler made this statement during a courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House, Benin city.
He said, “I am happy to see that you are doing well.

“I have been following some of your recent comments on the minimum wage, you have remained consistent with the ideals for which you are known.

“I am here this time on the occasion of the honour done to me by President Muhammadu Buhari by appointing me Chancellor of the University of Benin.

“Your Excellency, for me, it is a matter of deep pride to be associated with this city and this state and this particular university, and, I can assure you we will do our best to ensure we bring as much development as we can and to further strengthen the excellent relationship between the people of Kano and the people of Edo.”

Responding, Governor Oshiomhole said he was honoured to receive the Emir at the Government House.

“As the governor of this state, I still have fond memories of your last visit to Edo State then, as the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) with regards to your resourcefulness, and initiatives in the area of empowerment of rural people. We remember the laudable legacies that your highness left behind as the CBN governor.

“I want to thank you for your support, for your kind words and your prayers. We also want to congratulate your highness on your richly deserved appointment as the Chancellor of the University of Benin which we are all proud to describe as UNIBEST and I am sure under your leadership, it would witness even more growth and development and Edo as a community will continue to benefit from the activities of the university.”

i want to state with dismay that our youths have misplaced priority and at this time wants to sell their birth right if they accept this 5000 Naira.

i believe this should bring every reasonable youth in this country-NIGERIA back to his or her feet.why would you collect just 5000 Naira monthly from people we entrusted our resources .

What happened to creation of jobs that will give youths more than this humiliating 5000 Naira per month. There is this adage that says "Don't give me fish rather teach me how to fish"

collect this 5000 naira and sell your future and the future of your children. A word is enough for the wise.

NOTE: i do not belong to any political party, its just how i feel .
you dont belong to a political party bt you are gainfully employed.what different will it make if we dont collect the money, dose that mean they will use that to creat job or what:NO.you are talking trash.becoz u dont knw d pain we unemployed graduate are facing........
My opinion is : govt shld use d money to subsidize feul price back to 40naira per litre, make loan available to unemployed graduate(use our NYSC certificate as collateral),use the remaining to fix our electricity,by then common man will leave you with your job and be self employed.
