A group of Nigerians ‘mobilized’ to the Eagle Square, Abuja to pray for ‘President Muhammadu Buhari and the peace of the country’ have accused the organizers, the National youth council of Nigeria, of not settling them with the promised ‘incentives’.

PoliticsNGR learned that the group grounded a vehicle belonging to the chairman of the Taraba state chapter of the NYCN, Emma George. They believe George ‘pocketed’ money earmarked to settle them after the ‘prayer exercise’.



One of them was heard saying; “We were mobilized from far places, Keffi, Mararaba, and we started the prayer 9 O’clock and till now we have not eaten any thing.”

The aggrieved “prayer warriors” said they would take the vehicle to Mararaba.“Is that how to move Nigeria forward? Money meant for many people was taken by one person,” queried another person, Arumeee.

The minister was reported to have told the BBC that the former vice president is her ‘godfather’, and that is why she supports him. She reportedly said that President Buhari declared in 2015 that he would do only one term. Meanwhile, the APC is in a state of uncertainty following the comment by Aisha Alhassan on President Buhari's undeclared plan to run in 2019. Some APC chieftains who reacted to her statement have expressed surprised over the issue. A party leader who spoke to the Nation Newspaper on Thursday, September 7, described the minister’s comments as rattling. "The remarks rattled us. It is totally unexpected. But it is her view, not a collective opinion," the party leader whose identity was not disclosed said. Another chieftain of the APC in Bayelsa state, Preye Aganaba, faulted the minister for making such comments in public. He said: “She has a right to her choice but I think she is not being fair. A 32-year-old engineer, Bayonne Lekan, was on Friday brought before Tinubu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly molesting a minor at a construction site. The accused, whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of child defilement. Insp. Nurudeen Thomas, the prosecutor, told the court that the accused committed the offence sometime in May at Maduko Street, Ikoyi, Lagos. Thomas said the accused, who is a builder, was working at a site close to the eight-year-old girl’s house, where he sighted her.
“The girl went to their neighbour’s house to play when the parents went out and that was where the accused saw her and lured her to project site to rape her.” According to him, the police have evidence to establish that the accused violated the girl. The offence contravenes Section 262 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised). The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the accused may be sentenced to life imprisonment on conviction. Lekan, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, describing the allegation as “laughable’’. He said medical analysis had certified him impotent, adding “I am innocent of the charge as I have never had an erection in my life.’’
The accused asked the court to grant him bail, but it was opposed by the prosecutor.
