TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by MaameU: 12:20am On Jan 14, 2022
Hi guys, I really need your advice. I entered the EE pool with over 490 points but since there has been no draws, I want to try the study route. I have received admission for a 1 year PG Certificate programme (in Business Intelligence Analytics, an area I am very much interested in) . I would like to know what to do to increase my chances of getting a study visa considering the fact that I already have a Master's in Finance. I would also be most grateful if you could refer me to previous posts with similar experience so I can see how they convinced the VO in their application in order to receive a visa. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Unfortunately I did not use Prepmyfuture . I know it's very helpful for those writing the TEF exams but I didn't find it helpful for TCF.

Hello congratulations on the good results. Please do you still have some months left on your Prepmyfuture account? I intend to write in December or January and I would like to practice the questions intensively for only 2 months.

Just remain in the pool, also check Saskatchewan and New Brunswick PNPs, Complete the Arima portal for Quebec, search for recruitment agencies in Canada and submit your resume to them, don't forget to indicate in your cover letter that you're bilingual.

Bonne Chance cool cool cool
Ok. I will do that. Thanks.

Great...make sure your eligibility is still at 67 before you edit your profile.

If you decide to go ahead and wait in the pool for OINP at 461 then your outlook is that all programs draws are unlikely to start before the next OINP French Speakers Draw. Last OINP FS was in Oct. Just saying, so you know it's a calculated risk.... smiley
Hmmm. You are right about this calculated risk I am taking. We don't know when all program draws are likely to resume but we know Ontario will be doing the next French Speakers Draw in December or January all things being equal considering their current trends. If all program draws resume before then (hopefully not a one off) I will switch back. It's a risk I am willing to take.

And about checking my eligibility is till at 67, I didn't really know how to do that so I just edited my profile and it is still eligible. It shows my current CRS score

Thanks so much for providing a more detailed explanation especially on how not to take out my spouse. This is really helpful. I played around it and now I have 461 CRS score. Next Ontario Draw, here I come!!!!

GraciousWords:
OINP have different streams, with TEF you should be aiming for the French Speakers Draw which is not dependent on NOC.

I played around with the score calculator a bit. If I want to fall within the range for Ontario, then I need to remove my husband angry Not sure he will be happy with that. Anyway, When is Ontario likely to have its next draw? Are accountants likely to be selected if they fall within the score range?

GraciousWords:
Very well done!!!
You may want to consider Ontario PNP depending on your outlook. Read here: https://www.nairaland.com/4672912/all-tef-candidates-canada-immigration/137#105936283

Contrary to what you believe, I actually practiced more CO and CE with the teacher because that is where I thought I needed help most. I did practice Less EE and EO with her (the truth is I felt okay with my level in these two for the TCF exams and didn't feel I needed much help on them) My focus with her was more on the CO and CE because these two are usually more difficult to pass for the TCF exams. Maybe that's why I did better at those. We used a vast variety of sources to practice including TV5monde , RFI practice questions, TCFCA and youtube videos. She also had a lot of PDF materials for the practice of CO and CE as well. If I had the chance again, I will be practicing with her for 2 months (instead of one) and focus equally on all four aspects . The questions I had for the oral was difficult but I used a tip she gave me to answer and it helped me remain very composed though I couldn't talk as much as I normally would have. If you are a non native French speaker, my tip will be to get a good TCF teacher or a friend (preferable someone who has written the exams before) to help you at least for a month. 2 months would be perfect. Split your time equally for all 4 aspects.

yemozyn:
Congratulations. Apart from the EE and EO which you must have practiced more with the tutor. What practice site did you use for CO and CE with this great score and any practice tips can you share on those 2 sections.

I am returning with my French exams results (TCF). My CRS score is now 496

CO -601 C2
CE- 525 C1
EE-13 B2
EO- 14 C1

I am really grateful for the forum. It helped me choose the French exams to write as well as the teacher to help me prepare for the exams. She was extremely helpful and I wish I had used her during my first attempt. Unfortunately, I thought she was only preparing people for TEF exams which was why I didn't use her. But when I failed my first attempt (I got B2 in all the parts) I decided to just reach out to her and find out if she also had experience in preparing people for TCF as well. Fortunately she did. ALL THE ADVISE SHE gave was helpful. Even some of the questions she solved with me came during the exams. I don't have words to explain how happy I was I met her. If I had found her in 2020 when I decided to embark on this journey, I would have been in Canada by now. Her number (+2348073474774) has been shared on this forum several times by different people whom she helped pass their TEF exams (which was why I initially thought she was only helping with TEF exams). Her quality of teaching was just excellent!
Anyway, I hope they resume all program draws soon.
