Congrats to all who got PPR today |
Like someone said earlier, I also believe a good strategy is to apply alone without your family. And if they refuse, find a good Canadian Based Authorized immigration lawyer/ consultant. Make sure the person is authorized as per the IRCC website. You can search their name on the IRCC official website and if they are authorized you will find their name in the IRCC's data base of authorized representatives. But first apply on your own first (I believe you will get it ) but if you get a refusal again then the lawyer/ authorized representative will be your plan C. Gurus can also bring their ideas. This is really helpful advise. We will do as suggested. Bobomaigida: |
Thanks for the your analysis which could be very right. Mr. C is an accountant by profession and has a Masters in Finance but currently managing his own farm businesses. He chose a Graduate certificate in Business Analytics as his course of study. It is worth noting that one of the people I had guided recently who is actually in Canada now also chose the same Certificate program and also had the same Masters in Finance and I think that's why Mr. C insisted on choosing the same course except that this other person works for an NGO. One other factor I am also thinking of is age. Mr C is in his 50s but these others I guided to get their permits are in their 30s. Could age be silently playing a big role here? Bobomaigida: |
Seniors, I need urgent help on behalf of a dear family friend (who we will refer to as Mr. C) . His study permit was refused after just 10 days of applying. In fact, I was so confident he will get it because I had recently guided not just one but 3 other friends who have a similar profile to that of Mr. C and they successfully had their study permits. The only difference is they were younger than Mr. C and were married with no kids. Mr. C is married with kids, has properties in his name (cars and lands and farms). He paid first semester fees and had a balance of not less than CAD 20,000 in his account. His program was for only 1 year. Here is what was given as reason for refusal. I had helped him tackle all these reasons in the SOP but I guess it was not enough. I am really at loss as I don't know what else to think of. Your advise will be very much appreciated so I can better guide Mr. C. I am really feeling crushed because I had high hopes for this. •I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by paragraph R216(1)(b) of the IRPR (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/sor-2002-227/ section-216.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors: • The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application. • You have limited employment possibilities in your country of residence |
greenverte:Yes Ma , Na me be that. Future Ontario neighbor, you know me well o. DM me on TG and let's arrange a family meeting in the near future. I want to be your family friend. |
It's PPR time!!!! I am grateful for the valuable resource and advice I got from Nairaland. There's so much wealth of information here. @Graciouswords, thank you so much for your valuable input both here and on the TEF thread. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have known that it was possible to make adjustments (to reduce my points) that will enable me to receive a nomination from OINP (since my points was far above what they were picking at the time) Here is my timeline NOI - 28th April 2022 Submitted - 11th May 2022 Assessment - 12 Aug. 2022 DIP - 9th Sept. 2022 Nomination - 4th Oct. 2022 ITA- 12th Oct. 2022 AOR - 20th Oct. 2022 PR approval - 5 Dec. 2022 Now I need advice. My family is currently waiting for our PR cards in a different province where hubby is schooling. We plan to move to Ontario next year in October when hubby completes his school. Will this cause an issue? Do we need to move to Ontario as soon as we receive our PR card? Is there an option to do "soft landing" in Ontario and move there later when we are ready? Your valuable input will be very much appreciated. |

I finally had my passport request letter yesterday. I submitted my application on 19 June. I applied using the new portal. Since the portal only requested for a copy of my passport, I didn't attach any other supporting documentation (because I have a valid US visa). No bank statements No employment reference letter No payslips No LOE No nothing. I saw someone here on Nairaland with the same experience and that's why I also confidently submitted. |
Hi Family, a friend of mine who applied for VV more than a month after I did received his biometric validity and passport request on the same day which was yester but I have only received my biometric validity letter and my application is still showing as submitted. Please how do I request for GCM notes. Also, how do I contact the VO via email. Kindly help. |
GraciousWords:Thanks so much for the usual prompt response. |
I just received nomination from Ontario after submitting my application 5 months ago. I wish to thank all of you here and especially @GraciousWords for all your guidance. Without you I would still be waiting in the pool and loosing marks due to birthdays. I am expecting ITA in the next draw but my spouse recently moved to Canada. Is there a need or a way to update his new address in the EE profile before ITA comes? |
olalekan9320:Ontario is where I am shipping to. |
Hi my Future Canadian Family, I have been seeing people provide advise on the list of essential items to take to Canada but I have not seen any mention of which shipping company to use. Please which shipping company is best for shipping items to Canada? Is shipping cheaper than paying for extra luggage? Your suggestion will be very helpful. |
Congratulations!!! Finally finally you are about to get to the promised land. We thank the almighty for his mercies. I can't wait for your landing gist. GraciousWords: |
The amount for one way sounds high to me especially if you have an infant (below 2 years ) who will not be paying for a plane ticket. You could just seek a second or third opinion from other agents which will guide you to bargain with your uncle's beloved friend The amount also depends on the airline being booked though. We used Kiwi.com to book the flight. Some people also use skyscanner. cheapoair or Expedia which are all good websites. Check them out and see even if you still want to use an agent it will help you bargain better prices. If you decide to book on your own, make sure the flight is not transiting through the US or UK otherwise you will need a transit visa. If it is transiting through only one European country you won't need a visa. As for the last part of not being allowed at the airport, I have never heard of that so I will leave it to gurus in the house to answer. oppemipo: |
Did your agent tell you why you cannot book a one-way ticket? Please may I know why you decided to use an agent to book your flight? When do you intend to fly? My spouse has booked a one way ticket by himself (we find it cheaper than using an agent) but hasn't travelled yet. Do you mind sharing the price your agent is quoting? oppemipo: |
Based on my personal experience, it won't affect your application as long as you do the right things to convince the visa officer. Your LOE will be your main tool in convincing the visa officer. Let me share my experience (or rather my husband's). This year, my husband wanted to go for a graduate certificate programme and was worried that because he already had a Masters and his job as well as education was unrelated to his chosen certificate programme, he will not be able to show career progression which will result in a visa refusal. He is a chartered accountant with masters in finance and decided to go for a graduate certificate in data analytics (This was his heart desire. He didn't want to do any other programme). I did extensive research on his behalf here on nairaland and wrote his LOE for him (all LOE guidance can be found here as well just that it is scattered all over. ). He got his visa last Friday after exactly 70 days of submitting his application. All I did in that LOE was to show that his studies will add value to his professional life. Nairaland has a wealth of information for everyone's situation if only you will search for it. Though there are also discouraging posts here, concentrate on those that will allow you to achieve your objective. Above all pray for God's favor and never give up. Infact, in your case too, a graduate certificate in supply chain mgt will add value to your professional life. Keep that in mind.gem123: |
Are you still looking for accommodation or you found one already? I really need to find a place to rent before school starts in September. I prefer a place close to NSCC either short term or long term is okay. Any guidance or help will be appreciated. Can you provide your WhatsApp number so we can chat further about this? Samlolly28: |
Have you found accommodation ? I need help in finding an apartment or a room to rent. Can I have your watsapp number so we can chat?. rotexteymie: |
Is there anyone here going to NSCC in September? |
Thanks for soo much your advise especially that of a bird in hand .... now we know the what to do though it won't be easy... good things don't come easy. God bless you. GraciousWords: |
Hi future Canadian neighbours, I really need your opinions. My spouse just got his study permit application approved. He is supposed to start studies in September. I also received an NOI from Ontario and already submitted my application a month ago. I am not sure when I will get nomination. My question is since PR is our main goal (he applied for his visa at that time because we weren't sure I would get a NOI ), should I encourage him to wait patiently till I get the PPR and save the school fees money for something else ? Please note that his school is in Nova Scotia and if I receive nomination and eventually PPR we need to stay in Ontario till Citizenship as per my understanding. What do you guys think? |
Hi friends, can someone please show me a sample letter my spouse has to write to prove that I have access to funds in his account. I am the principal applicant but funds for our immigration project is currently in my spouse's account. |
Hi @GraciousWords, fortunately I have been advised on how others have successfully delt with this in the past and I hope it helps someone else in future. One option is to list all jobs in your OINP application under the Work history and provide a reference letter only for the jobs you wish to claim points for then you can state in LOE that you are not claiming points for the others jobs and therefore have not uploaded documents for them. Second option is to state only the jobs you wish to claim marks for in the work history section and state the rest of the jobs you don't wish to claim points for under the other activities section. GraciousWords: |
Thanks for your very prompt response. That's what I thought too but I wasn't too sure what to do. Actually the statement in red is what I saw while filling the OINP e-filling portal. Even if I pasted it here I am not sure you can access because you have to sign in so I am attaching a screenshot instead. GraciousWords:

Hi GraciousWords. Thanks so much for this advice. I finally got my NOI from Ontario and very exited although I am facing a few hurdles. Since I claimed only 1 year experience in my EE profile, do I need to list only 1 year experience when submitting the application for the Ontario Nomination or do I list ALL of my work experience and write an LOE stating that I am only claiming points for one of them?. Note that under work history on the Ontario website, they state that "List all of your paid work experience in the last ten years (or since the age of 18, if this was less than ten years ago). Start with your current or most recent occupation". Your advice will be very much appreciated GraciousWords: |
Thanks for the advice. I have decided to keep it as it is and try to get the necessary supporting documents. Allegory: |
Hi friends, I just received Ontario NOI and need urgent advice. I listed a one year accounting experience in my EE profile from Feb 2019 to July 2020. The Problem is that, this employer did not provide a reference letter listing my duties and responsibilities as requested. They just provided a standard reference which confirms my position and salary. Meanwhile, one of my previous where I performed similar roles from June 2016 to June 2017 provided the standard reference letter as requested with all duties and responsibilities listed. Can I change my work experience in the EE profile to the this (2016 to 2017 employer) and submit my application to Ontario without issues? Or do I need to maintain the 2019 to 2020 experience stated when I received the NOI? Please note that Ontario website states that "Ensure that your résumé, employer reference letters and other documents submitted to support work experience criteria, include a detailed list of your duties and responsibilities for each position held." Your advise will be very much appreciated. |
Big congratulations o!!!! Did you use the new or old portal? Akukusesemomo: |
I pray the next Ontario draw finds all of us who reduced our scores to fit within the cut-off range. |
