I have always wondered why we call the Chinese version of redmi note 5 Global Rom when 'rom' isn't a hardware but the software OS that has been flashed into the phone; same software that global version runs on. Should we then begin to call the global version global rom?

*You can order for the Chinese version (otherwise known as global Rom) if you won't be using smile.Ng, (4G network)

*You should order for the global version if smile.Ng 4G is a priority for you.

*You must order for the Taiwanese version if glo. ng 4g network is a priority for you.

Otherwise, the global rom and global version pretty much works with MTN 4g, Airtel 4G and Etisalat 4g.

Note that these whole band issue doesn't affect 3g, edge or GPRS networks. You will still get glo and other service providers' 3g and EDGE network regardless of whether you buy global rom or global version.

The phone can be repaired in Nigeria just like any other phone. It doesn't have any outer space technology in it. As long as you can get the faulty part, a good repairer should do the job. Check out RepairPalng here on the thread.

Maybe you aren't focusing on the object properly. Make sure you tap the screen for proper focus before taking the picture.

If you observe carefully, you will discover that I bolded the 'B20' on the band towards the end of the spec. That was done to show the ONLY difference between the xiaomi redmi note 5 Global Version and xiaomi redmi note 5 Global Rom. Global rom doesn't have LTE band 20 while global version has. Now, the band 20 is only important if you are using smile 4g network. Although MTN uses band 20 LTE too, it also uses band 7. So if you buy the global rom of note 5, you are still going to get MTN 4G network on the global rom. Both global rom and global version get airtel 4g, Etisalat 4g and ntel 4g. None of them get glo 4g which operates on band 27.

Note that these explanation above only cover 4g LTE network. if you buy global version or global rom, you are still going to get all the networks, including glo on 3g, Edge and GPRS.

I hope this fully clears the air on the difference between global version and global rom of redmi note 5, because many people are actually paying the extra money to buy global version as against the slightly cheaper global rom, when actually, they don't need that band 20.

How do u guys even login to the apps? I have never for one day login successfully. It will be asking for a pin and if I try to create, it will tell as invalid or something like that. Ntel na useless in services . Only their internet package is crazy and second to none.

It's not so crazy anymore. Network is not as fast as it used to be. Even the wawu plan will be stopped anytime this year

Post NL isn't as reliable as it used to. It will eventually move. I had one that was delayed like that for a month, several others from the same post NL which were sent later got to me before that particular item moved from the 'warehouse'
