The astronomical increase in school fees pitched the government against the students for several months. This led to the setting up of a committee to review the fees. The committee set up by Governor Fashola was headed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Kayode Opeifa. The students had demanded that the governor reduced the fees from N390,000 to N46,500. SOURCE: http://www.currentnewsnow.com/?p=530 The dreaded Islamic sect, boko haram has declared that it has over 75 female suicide bombers at their disposal, ready to carry out operation, CURRENTNEWSNOW has learnt. According to 247UREPORTS, Sensitive information available obtained through a very competent source indicates that the Islamic Jihadist has adopted the Palestinian model of Jihadism in its usage of young girls as suicide bombers on buses and crowded places. GIRLAccording to the information gathered, the latest move by the Islamist Jihadist group to rain terror in Nigeria led the leaders of Boko Haram into a union-ship with the leaders of Hezbollah to help recruit and train young innocent girls as potential suicide bombers for use in parts of northern Nigeria. As gathered, the partnership between the Middle Eastern Jihadist group and the Nigerian Jihadist group reportedly have resulted in the successful recruitment and training of over 177 young girls under the ages of 15. The source continued to reveal that out of the 177 suicide bombers, 75 were already in Nigeria to execute suicide missions in three northern States of Katsina, Kano and the Federal Capital Territory [FCT], Abuja. The types of attacks, the source indicates would not take the shape of attacks that the Nigerian security authorities are used to, or would anticipate. “The year will end as the year of Boko Haram” says the source as he tried to emphasize on the preparedness of the Islamic Jihadist group in unraveling the polity before the campaigns for 2015. The source who claims to have full access to the Islamist group explained that the group has become highly tuned into the politics of Nigeria in the sense that it intends to shape the outcome of the presidential elections in 2015 to favor a Muslim candidate. He explained that the attack on Malam [General] Buhari was largely part of the 2015 equation. He explained that their preferred candidate for the office of the presidency was the person of General Buhari. But Buhari’s recent and sudden criticism of the Islamic group angered the group immensely because, according to the group, Buhari’s credibility within the north may add a big bite towards discrediting the Boko Haram in the north. The source notes that the Boko Haram group perceives themselves as well accepted by the ‘core’ Islamic north. For this reason, criticism coming from a person in the stature of Malam Buhari may cause many within the core Islamic north to back away from secretly supporting Boko Haram. The Islamic group did not want Buhari criticisms to continue to become his campaign mantra for 2015. Efforts made to contact the State Security Services [SSS] in Kano concerning the threat of increased suicide bombers on the offing but the SSS Director in Kano failed to respond to our requests. However a top security boss in Abuja spoke to our correspondent off the record. He confirmed that intelligence reports do indicate that more suicide bombers are on the way and that plenty have already arrived the country. He also added that the system is to corrupt to fight and combat the terrorist. In his words, “insurgency can be defeated if the security agencies are overhauled. But for now it is a money making venture”. http://www.currentnewsnow.com/?p=530

After a protracted debate, the Federal Government and ASUU reached a compromise during a negotiation brokered by the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar few days ago. SOURCE: http://www.osundefender.org/?p=134933 The Nigerian government has extended the deadline on an ultimatum issued to striking university lecturers, asking them to go ‘Back to Class’ on December 4 or face being sacked. With the deadline extended to December 9, lecturers are no longer expected to resume duties as required by the seven-day ultimatum issued by the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, on November 28. The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Julius Okogie, told journalists in Abuja on Tuesday that the ultimatum had been shifted to enable the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) carry out the burial ceremony of Professor Festus Iyayi, a former leader of the union who died in the line of duty. In a bid to lay to rest the issue of non-victimisation that the striking lecturers had stressed in a letter to the government before the ultimatum was issued, the NUC boss stated that all lecturers, who would resume duties and ready to work on December 9 would be paid their full salary arrears. The public universities’ lecturers have not been paid since they embarked on a nationwide strike on July 1. They have, by invoking the non-victimisation clause, demanded that all the arrears must be paid. He, however, pointed out that the leadership of ASUU, at the end of its meeting with the president on November 4, had agreed to call off the strike after several resolutions were reached which did not include the new conditions recently released by the union. The union said it did not add any new condition but only emphasised the non-victimisation clause, which states that no member of the union should be punished for being part of the ongoing strike. It claims the government was aware of the clause and called for the payment of the salary arrears. It has also insisted that the government deposit the 200 billion Naira revitalisation fund for public universities as agreed with the Central Bank of Nigeria, before the strike would be called off. SOURCE: http://www.osundefender.org/?p=133754 The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday described the threat by the federal government to sack lecturers if they don’t return to classroom as empty threat that could not hold water. The union said it is vindicated that the Federal government was not ready to implement resolutions reached with the union. ASUU said the threat will fail, adding that Nigerian public universities need 60,000 lecturers due to government’s failure to employ more capable hands into the system. The union said federal government is wasting the time of Nigerians youths by failing to perfect the resolutions and get the strike suspended. The union added it had reasons to be wary following the failure of government to honour their promises to Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, resident doctors and other health workers who have suspended their strikes. The ASUU National Treasurer, Dr. Ademola Aremu, while responding to the government’s directive, said the threat does not hold water as it has confirmed the fears that the federal government cannot be trusted. The don said, “With the latest action, the federal government has shown that they are not committed to all they have been saying. We are saying that since we agreed at the meeting that the sum of 200 billion naira is for 2012 and 2013 revitalisation, the federal government should deposit same in the Central Bank of Nigerian. We are already in November and December is around the corner. If they don’t do that now, when do they want to do it? We are saying the non-victimization clause should be included as agreed while the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement should be included as agreed with the presidents”. “It is a pity if the federal government is not willing to perfect the resolutions reached with union. This is why we find it difficult to trust our leaders by their words. How can someone be threatening to sack lecturers when universities are already short-staffed by almost 60,000. We are not in military era. The military tried it and failed. This one will fail again. They can re-open the school. ASUU did not shut down the universities. It was the management of the schools that ordered the students to go back home.” SOURCE: http://www.osundefender.org/?p=133754 |

STRIKE Latest: ASUU's NEC meeting holds tomorrow, Friday - Official SOURCE: http://www.osundefender.org/?p=132887 The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Dr Lawan Abubakar has debunked media reports that the union had postponed its National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting slated for tomorrow. He restated that the leadership of the Union postponed the scheduled NEC meeting at Bayero University, Kano, following the demise of Festus Iyayi, a former President, who died last Tuesday in a motor accident along the Abuja-Lokoja highway. A car in the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, had hit the vehicle conveying the deceased and some ASUU members, leading to Iyayi’s death. Others injured are presently receiving treatment. Abubakar who spoke in Bauchi further denied that the striking lecturers had accepted the over N1trillion offered by the Federal Government. “There is no iota of truth in that. What the union is agitating for is the full implementation of the 2009 agreement and nothing less,” he said. The Union has been on strike since July 1 over the 2009 agreement it reached with the Federal Government. Its leadership has said it will deliberate on the current Federal Government’s offer and take a position after Friday’s NEC meeting. SOURCE:http://www.osundefender.org/?p=132887 |
SOURCE: http://www.osundefender.org/?p=132742 USA Wikileaks secret cables reveal that according to Professor Ukandi G. Damachi, Nigeria’s former president, Musa Yar’Adua was poisoned. Yar’Adua died while in office as president of Nigeria in May, 2010. Professor Ukandi G. Damachi is a friend to US consul, long term confidant to Nigeria’s past president Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida with privy to Nigeria’s government workings inside information. The Wikileaks cable, reference ID 08LAGOS153, described in Professor Damachi’s narration, that late president Yar’Adua was given poison in his food, “his food was poisoned”, he alleged. Further stating that the president inherited his predecessor, president Obasanjo’s kitchen, and these kitchen staff were likely used to poison Nigeria’s president. The professor further revealed that when president Yar’Adua realized this he fired the Obasanjo kitchen staff. Quoting Damachi from the US secret cables: “There are lots of problems in Nigeria.” The first problem, he said, is the President’s illness; “his food was poisoned”, Damachi alleged. Asked whether he meant “food poisoning” or that someone had deliberately poisoned the President’s food, Damachi shrugged, replying “The President inherited Obasanjo’s kitchen staff”; Yar’Adua has now fired them all, and the kitchen has been cleaned out following the incident, Damachi said. At the same time, Damachi went on, the President did attend functions on both the Saturday and Sunday preceding his illness and ate some food at both of them. “What President eats at a function?”, Damachi asked rhetorically. The President was so sick that the day he signed the budget, he was unable to sign a second piece of legislation awaiting his approval…” Link: http://wikileaks.org/cable/2008/04/08LAGOS153.html; Cable dated 24 Apr 2008 Late Yar'Adua Img: Guardian Late Yar’Adua Img: Guardian Yar’Adua was known to have stepped hard on his predecessors toes. Upon entering office president Yar’Adua, described by his wife as a very honest man who left no wealth behind; seriously went after the reversal of Nigeria’s public assets that his predecessor had sold to his allies, Aliku Dangote and Femi Otedola. NewsRescue-The Truth Behind Dangote’s Wealth, The Cabal, Tokunbo Ban And Impoverishing Nigerians Reuters reported on the serious transfer of Nigeria’s assets by Obasanjo to Dangote: (Reuters) – “Nigerian tycoon Aliko Dangote has acquired a controlling stake in Nigeria’s third-largest refinery in Kaduna for an undisclosed sum, consolidating his grip on the OPEC member nation’s refining sector. It was the second major refinery purchase in a week by Dangote, who is a major financier of the ruling party and ally of outgoing President Olusegun Obasanjo, after he bought the largest refinery in Port Harcourt on May 17.” “In the weeks leading up to Obasanjo’s departure, Dangote’s privately held company has also scooped up a cement plant, a telecoms licence and mining concessions in a rush of privatisations that has triggered accusations of cronyism by opposition parties.” By July of 2007, barely 2 months into office, Yar’Adua had held meetings with Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE), to querry the sale of Nigeria’s refineries to Obasanjo’s henchmen, Aliku Dangote and tycoon Otedola. BPE reportedly justified the sale to Bluestar, saying it was transparent, but the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) faulted it, and maintained that the corporation was capable of running them efficiently. President Yar’Adua “after considering the facts presented to him, the President directed that the sale should be revoked as the exercise was not transparent enough. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) praised President Yar’Adua for the revocation of the privatization of the refineries.” President Yar’Adua, determined to recover Nigeria’s infrastructure and assets coveted by Obasanjo and his cronies, moved on to other government assets. According to Bashani Aminu, as relayed in other cables, aka “Disentangling Obasanjo” : “Aminu expects more of the same soon — particularly an overturn of the Transcorp purchase of the Abuja Nicon Hilton. Aminu also noted Yar’adua’s commitment to fighting corruption and told Post he gave the greenlight to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate anyone. He predicted Yar’adua will overturn the Transcorp purchase of the Abuja Nicon Hilton soon. These deals will be aimed at removing the ill-earned gains of Obasanjo and his close allies such as Aliko Dangote. (NOTE: Dangote and Obasanjo’s Transcorp were both part of the consortium that purchased the Port Harcourt and Kaduna refineries.) Aminu claimed Dangote gave Obasanjo a 35 million USD jet plane as a recent “gift.”" http://www.wikileaks.org/plusd/cables/07ABUJA1658_a.html Yar’Adua also suffered from chronic allergic disorder and this was easily attributed to be the direct cause of his death. The possibility of the poisoning to death of a Nigerian serving head of State will amount to a grievous crime. The exhumation of late President Yar’Adua’s body may be necessitated as well as a thorough investigation of ll who may have been involved in the murder of a president in office. Late Palestinian premier, Yasser Arafat was recently exhumed due to evidence of polonium poisoning as an investigation into alleged Israeli intelligence poisoning was reopened. SOURCE: http://www.osundefender.org/?p=132407 The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) may hold its postponed National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Friday to decide whether or not to suspend the indefinite strike it began since July 2. A top official of ASUU, who preferred anonymity, disclosed this to Daily Independent in a telephone interview on Sunday. He was, however, not certain if the NEC will still be held at the Bayero University, Kano where it was initially proposed to hold. The leadership of the union postponed the scheduled Kano NEC meeting following the demise of one its key members, Festus Iyayi, who died last Tuesday in a ghastly motor accident on his way to Kano for the postponed NEC meeting. The source noted that the union members are still grieved and are pre-occupied with the burial arrangement of the late Professor of Business Administration, who died along the Abuja-Lokoja highway in an accident caused by the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada. The source debunked speculations in the social media that ASUU has jettisoned its NEC indefinitely, saying the union postponed the NEC meeting as a mark of honour and respect for the late Iyayi. According to him, all ASUU officials that were supposed to participate in the NEC meeting last week Wednesday had actually gathered at the Bayero University, Kano, but for the unfortunate accident which claimed the life of Iyayi and disrupted the agenda already set for the meeting. Meanwhile, Supervisory Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, also at the weekend led a delegation of government on a condolence visit to the residence of the late academician in Benin City. Wike assured that the Federal Government would diligently implement all the agreements it reached with ASUU in the course of the negotiations with President Goodluck Jonathan. Those in the delegation of the minister include Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Julius Okojie, and some top officials of Federal Ministry of Education. They also visited the injured ASUU National Welfare Officer, Ngozi Iloh, who is said to be responding to treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin. SOURCE: http://www.osundefender.org/?p=132407 In a statement in Abuja on Sunday, the Minister’s Special Assistant (Media), Simeon Nwakaudu, said Wike solicited the permission of the family to allow the Federal Government participate in the burial ceremony of the former ASUU president. “President Goodluck Jonathan and the entire administration are deeply pained by the sudden death of the former ASUU National President who played a key part in the negotiations between ASUU and the Federal Government. “We recall the significant contributions of Professor Iyayi during the 13-hour negotiations between President Jonathan and ASUU, which led to a headway in the discussions. “I want to assure the family that the ideals that the late scholar fought and died for will never be forgotten. The Federal Government will diligently implement the decisions reached in the course of negotiations with ASUU. “The Federal Ministry of Education wishes to be a part of the burial of this erudite scholar and we seek the permission of the family to participate in the burial. I pray God to grant the family the strength to bear this unfortunate loss,” Wike was quoted to have said. Oriabure Iyayi, son of the late ASUU president, was said to have thanked President Jonathan, the Minister of Education and all Nigerians for commiserating with the family at their moment of grief. A relative of the deceased, Prof. Robert Ebiwele, informed the minister that the burial will hold between December 5 and 9. He assured that the family would inform the Federal Ministry of Education on the burial arrangements. SOURCE: http://www.osundefender.org/?p=132407 |
An impeccable source, one of the prominent leaders of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorized to comment on this yet has disclosed to one of our correspondents that the suspended ASUU Nation Executive Committee, NEC meeting earlier postponed in honour of Late Prof. Festus Iyayi, a renown novelist, former ASUU president and prominent leader of ASUU may be reconvened on Saturday. He reiterated that the news of of Prof Iyayi's sudden death came as a rude shock to the union; most painfully, Late Iyayi was on ASUU official assignment when he met his gruesome and untimely death, so there was nothing the Union could do to honour the late hero at the point than to put on hold it NEC meeting scheduled to hold in Kano. "There is strong indication that the NEC meeting will be reconvened on Saturday". He further stated in strong term that unless ASUU leaders re-decides, the NEC meeting will hold on Saturday. When asked if the strike will actually be suspended, he said: “I think so, judging by reports from the Monday congresses we held simultaneously, the union may suspend the strike on Saturday or Sunday.” It will be recalled that ASUU had suspended indefinitely it NEC meeting where decision to either end or continue the lingering strike will be taken due to the death of Late Prof. Festus Iyayi, a former ASUU president. For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.”-Isaiah 9:16 . Let them alone: they be leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. -Matt 15:14 BIODUNI was going to be silent on this sad, pathetic but true (in many shades) allegation against Pastor B and his popular and trendy ministry. My silence was borne out of respect for the kingdom of God and things that pertain to God. But all this changed when I heard the horrific tales of people who had been through the mess of this blind man, and the fact that he had no moral motivation to deny or accept the allegation; all he showed on Sunday was a demented swagger and perverse talk. My sole purpose in writing this piece is to open the eyes of the world and believers to the hypocrisy and nonsense behind the pulpit, and to plea that these wolves and blind men stop deflating the faith of people who Christ died for. I am a Pastor, a full time minister at that, and I shall not sit back while the name of my God, the ministry, and the works of other shepherds is brought to disrepute by the activities, action and inaction of a few blind men behind the pulpit. I am tired of the nonsense of religion crying out, “touch not my anointed”; does this mean we cannot rebuke ourselves when we err, this much Paul did to Peter when he erred in Galatians 2:11 “But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed”. It is therefore pertinent that I rebuke the wolves in shepherd’s clothing’s. It is time to set the record straight, and please don’t sell me the bullocks of judge not, I haven’t said anyone is going to hell, but of course if they don’t change, they have only one path. It is high time we tell the truth, which is plain, simple and without coloration. The stories of Franca and Ese is not only true but they are just a few tales of the tantalizing sex escapades of this clergy. This has been a recurring decimal in the ministry of the clergyman. This wasn’t the first time these stories will come forth, for those old COZA members, for those who were there when he was in Ilorin, when the church moved to Pipeline Road, Ilorin, having left Kwara Hotel, they will remember there was a time when the Pastor was suspended from ministering by his Father in the Lord, Rev Oset of Canaan Ministries. Rev. Oset sent guest ministers to the church every Sunday after that, but still Pastor B in his deceit will still minister in the pretence of introducing the guest minister, while he exhorts for minutes. I therefore laugh in mockery when He says his wife loves him, the woman has no choice. His core circle of Pastor Wole (Ilorin Chapter, the only man who maybe clean), and Pastor Flo (COZA, Lagos) knows of this fact, little wonder Ese said Pastor Flo said he knows about their adventures in that hotel room in London. -This is not the story of a hater; I don’t want or envy anything he has. He cannot ever have what I have and carry; neither do I crave for what he has. I am sure no one in the city of Ilorin, where this man started is bemused by these stories, no one who finished from the University of Ilorin during the period of 2003-2008, and was not a blinded COZA member can be mightily shocked at these revelations. I have heard tales of many more victims, I even heard from a woman who knows five friends who were victims, I saw it online the other day of a guy who said he formally works for him and he knows up to 130 people, outrageous as it may sound that too is true. Rev Oset in true conscience cannot deny the knowledge of these negatives. But we are a nation of hypocrites and religious folks; we ask no questions of leaders, so they can hide under the canopy of religion, even when they are filthy. Anyone who asks is rebuked by those who say, the bible says pray. It is sad that those who say pray themselves have not prayed. But Pastor B is just a decimal in an ever mounting number of wolves in the Church of Christ. Someone told me yesterday that this can’t be the end of him and his tyranny, because even in Ilorin in those days, the allegation was rolled under the rug. On Sunday, August 25, 2013, the man leading certain blind men under the veil of religion and ‘spiritism’ said God told him not to say anything, he then said they are preparing a robust response. Who is fooling who? We must not keep quiet and watch the bride of Christ, the church, rubbed and undignified in mud and slime by a filthily rich pastor who thinks he can do anything and get away with it. - It is a pity that we run sensational press and media outfit in this country, and that our press is blinded by religion. If this were to be ‘saner’ climes the press would by now be researching, there would by now be investigative journalism. The truth would be dogged up and resurrected to life. For this is not about a mistake that a Pastor made, it is about a filthy man’s way of life. And then about, “teaching a new level of grace’; please be reminded that Grace is not a license to sin, rather it empowers us to live above sin. Romans 6:1-2 says, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” In my years of being a Christian, studying God’s word, preaching the gospel, listening to sound teachers, I have not heard of a grace that gives permission to sin. Stop being deceived, grace is the new dispensation, according to Hebrew 8:6-12, and under grace we do not follow any written code, law or traditions. That is done away with. The tablet of Moses is over with. But we are not reckless sinners; we are under a new covenant based on better promises. God’s law is written in our minds and hearts. We live according to His dictates. The Holy Spirit and our conscience convicts and judges us respectively. This is the only way we live a holy life. God’s strength and empowerment is the grace to do according to that written by God in our hearts and minds. I write this with a heavy heart, though I wish I never had to write this, but I pray this madness stops. I know many who have stopped going to church, many whose faith has been derailed by the act of madness of this man, and many blind men like him. If they are not going to heaven, let them stop taking men out of the straight and narrow. No one understands the pain in meeting a man, whose faith has been derailed by a man who was supposed to help establish him. For such a man, words can’t bring him back, the best we can do is to pray and hope. I indulge the clergy to be of a higher moral standard. My candid advice to the church at this end time is that the church must grow in knowledge; it’s high time we stopped bamboozling you. You must stop making idols of men. You must stop making men such as I, substitute for the Holy Ghost. Honour us; revere us… but that is where it ends. Without the Call, the Oil, and the Holy Spirit; we are mere mortal. But know for sure that this too shall pass; only the truth of the Gospel of the Kingdom abides forever. For Pastor B and his sense making COZA people, remember the word of Christ in Matthew 15:14. How many of you even live life bearing the fruit of righteousness. Stop being blind, the ditch is close by. Look into this case, ask your pastor questions, seek genuine answers and not emotional rhetorics, hold him responsible, and do not forget the word of God, “then shall they know if they follow to know…” I am sure evidence abound. Seek to know from some key PCU members (who may need to be deposited in Gods ICU). Its time you hear not only about grace, but HOLINESS without which no one will see the Lord. Finally don’t bother praying against me, I can say like Paul, “For me to die is gain, to live is Christ”, but I cannot even go now, because I am yet to fully finish the task set before me. Don’t waste your time using misguided scriptural interpretation. This I write is true, and I am sorry if you don’t like it. Your Pastor, and every other wolf whose conscience is not seared knows it is the complete true. God bless you. God bless His Church. Obasanjo; a troublesome student at NOUN – VC http://www.osundefender.org/?p=114079 The Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Vincent Ado Tenebe, on Monday gave a glimpse into former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s time as a student of the university, saying that he was very troublesome.http://www.osundefender.org/?p=114079 Prof. Tenebe, who commended Chief Obasanjo for giving a new lease of life to NOUN in 2002 during his administration as president, recalled that as a student, he (Obasanjo) used to call his lecturers at midnight on academic matters, but noted that at the end, he did very well to pass his courses in Christian Religious Theology. The Vice Chancellor made this known during an interactive session organised by the Kaduna State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).http://www.osundefender.org/?p=114079 According to him, “President Obasanjo, when he became a student which he did by example, resuscitated the university. A good history of the university was that this university came into existence by an act of the National Assembly during the reign of President Shehu Shagari in 1982, unfortunately before the university could establish itself, the Military regime that took over suspended the act and that was the reason the university was in dormancy until when civilian rule under Obasanjo came on board and re cooperated the university in 2002 while in 2003, we started our academic programmes. “When Obasanjo became a student of the institution, he thought that it was an easy thing to do. When he was given all the courses, he realised it wasn’t easy and so he had to defer his admission. He said I would not take part in this until I finished my tenure as President and so he never studied while he was the President until he completed his tenure, then he started the course. He did a Post Graduate Diploma in Christian Theology. He was a very troublesome student because he will not start calling until 12 mid night and keep you online until about 2.00a.m. “Every time he gives us trouble, we pray that he graduates of which he did and his certificate was valid. In the course of his study, Obasanjo said he wanted to sit among the students” and quoted the former president as saying, “I want to do the same thing others are doing.”http://www.osundefender.org/?p=114079 On if the examiners were not under any form of pressure while marking the former President’s script, Prof. Tenebe remarked: “Obasanjo was a very brilliant student and I can tell you there were lots of controversies when his papers were being marked. I won’t disclose the secret of how our papers are marked but it is marked from Port Harcourt to Lagos, Kano, Maiduguri and the markers will never know whose paper they are marking. So the old man is intelligent, his certificate is valid and was done according rules and regulations of the Nigerian University Commission (NUC).” On accreditation of courses in the university, NOUN VC said they had subjected 31 of their programmes to accreditation and had 30 of them, while the one that was denied accreditation was getting ready for the accreditation as NUC had gone through their book and certified that their Nursing programme was up to standard.http://www.osundefender.org/?p=114079 “On that note, they’ve allowed us to graduate students and students of nursing also participated in our convocation. They graduated and were given our certificate. So if anybody is holding the certificate of NOUN as a graduate of Nursing, any employer can confirm that from the NUC. “Talking about school of Law, it is one of the youngest schools in NOUN and we are yet to graduate our students”, he said.http://www.osundefender.org/?p=114079 “Some of our students are now getting to the final year, and like I told you earlier we have gone through the NUC accreditation and they have passed us. Now we are preparing for the Legal Council and Education and we are going to do that in conjunction with the NUC. And that I will continue to say that our law students are equal to the task, they can compete with any law students from any university in the world not only Nigeria.”http://www.osundefender.org/?p=114079 “ I can assure you that by the time we will present our curriculum to the Legal Council and Education, I am confident that we are going to pass. As I speak to you there is what is called National Competition that all universities that have faculty of law compete every year. NOUN is currently the champion. I told you I have five VCs of other universities among my law students and an experienced Monarch,” he said.Source:ttp://www.osundefender.org/?p=114079

Army arrested 42 Boko Haram in Lagos, Ogun http://www.osundefender.org/?p=113999 Not less than 42 suspected members of Boko Haram were on Monday paraded by the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army in Lagos. They were nabbed between July 12 and July 23 in various parts of Lagos and Ogun states According to the Nigerian Army, the suspects fled from Borno State following a state of emergency declared by the Federal Government. Although most of the suspects spoke in Hausa language, a few who managed to communicate in pidgin, confessed that they had been involved in terrorist activities in the past.http://www.osundefender.org/?p=113999 One of them, Hassan Ibrahim, who admitted recruiting some of the suspects, disclosed that he, in company with Ibrahim Ismail and Alhaji Black, killed a soldier and a civilian identified only as Buka in Maiduguri. He said, “We rode a tricycle in Maiduguri and killed a soldier and one Buka. It was Alhaji Black that pulled the trigger. We also carried out some other operations in the area.http://www.osundefender.org/?p=113999 “Later, I met both Ismaili and Alhaji Black in Lagos, while I was riding okada (motorcycle).” Black, who was also accused by Ismail of being a member of the sect, denied the accusation. He said he had been riding a motorcycle in Lagos in the past five years, adding that he was arrested during a raid in Kirikiri, a surburb of Lagos. Some of the other suspects denied being terrorists, saying that they had been in Lagos for many years. The General Officer Commanding the 81 Division,Maj.- Gen. Obi Umahi, said the suspects were arrested during raids by intelligence operatives. He explained the raid was carried out following intelligence report that the sect planned to unleash terror on parts of the South-West.http://www.osundefender.org/?p=113999 He said the raids were conducted at Ibafo trailer park and Ileke new trailer garage in Ogun State; Aviation quarters at Mafoluku, Oshodi; Ketu/Mile 12 Motor Park; Orile Trailer Park; Lekki new extension and Bar Beach. These places, according to him, were fast becoming Boko Haram enclaves. Umahi said that during interrogation, some of the suspects gave useful information that led to the arrest of others. The GOC said, “The raids were conducted between July 12 and July 23 in various hideouts in Lagos and Ogun states which are fast becoming Boko Haram terrorist enclaves.” The army boss did not say if arms were recovered from the suspects, but he added that they were still trying to track their weapons.http://www.osundefender.org/?p=113999 “From investigations, we cannot say if they are in Lagos to stage an attack or running for their lives. Investigations would reveal that,” he said. Our correspondent learnt that due to the pressure from the armed forces in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, suspected Boko Haram members had been fleeing to the South-West. The PUNCH had reported last Wednesday that the police in Ogun State had arrested a 22-year-old man, Giraima Suri, suspected to be a member of Boko Haram in Isheri-Kara in Ifo Local Government area. The police had said the suspect, who hails from Bulunkutu Kasuwa, Maiduguri, Borno State, was arrested based on a tip off.http://www.osundefender.org/?p=113999 The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement in Abeokuta, said the suspect told policemen that he fled Maiduguri to the South-West following aggressive manhunt for members of the sect by security operatives. The PUNCH learnt that since security agents foiled a terror plot and arrested a suspected terrorist, Ibrahim Musa, in Ijora, Lagos on March 22, 2013, there had been constant raids across the state. The Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu, had also said last month that at least 104 Boko Haram members were being detained in prisons in Lagos. The Director, State Security Service, Lagos State Command, Mr. Ben Olayi, who spoke to our correspondent on the telephone, said the sudden interest in Lagos State by the suspected sect members was predictable because Lagos has a special status.http://www.osundefender.org/?p=113999 Olayi said the SSS was collaborating with its sister agencies in the state to make sure that no terror plot succeeded. He said, “We will not stop doing what we have been doing in terms of security. We will keep monitoring them (terrorists). We had anticipated that when the heat was much for them in the North, some of them would come to Lagos because Lagos is always the city of first choice. “We have not made any arrests in recent times but we have been giving other security agencies information which they have been using to make arrests.” http://www.osundefender.org/?p=113999

As the old order gives way to the new, there is bound to be a period of dysfunction in the transition period. This position holds today in the process of the birth pangs of the rebirth of the state of Osun. In view of the loss of privileges and the access to unearned funds this is to be expected. The pampered, privileged PDP elite who have lost out cannot be expected to just sit down and accept their fate. They must be expected vigorously to stage a fight back, which in the case of the PDP in Osun State means fighting back with a vengeance. For this reason the new order, those who have done so much to rebuild the state of osun must provide more enlightment against apathy, as well as cynicism. Cynicism is understandable. For the people not just in osun state, but nationally have been so serially violated. They have seen their hopes as well as their legitimate aspirations dashed, over and over again. For this reason if they are not cynical they will be less than human.http://www.osundefender.org/?p=96924 Unfortunately this gap is now being vigorously exploited by the far from people oriented and hardly democratic PDP. There must therefore be a fight back by those involved in the progressive transformation of the state of osun. Politics and political economy centers around what Machiavelli described as ‘the law of constant reminders’. The state of osun has seen exponential progress under the ogbeni Governor. And it must always be reiterated that it did so from a very low base. From such a low base the progress made is truly remarkable. Across the board, you name it, education, agriculture, infrastructural development and so forth. Even the hard core PDP know that life has gotten better and that the state of osun in working. Even the PDP know for example that the climate has been created for greater employment generation. The various ’O’schemes is putting the big ‘D’ back into development. What is therefore crucial is that the enlightment should be both more structured and more pronounced. The great gains made cannot be swept under the carpet, for the gains are real. Nationally osun state has become a beacon of hope and an example of sensible governance. This must be trumpeted at home as well.http://www.osundefender.org/?p=96924 If it is not trumpeted then the PDP whose hands are idle will have a field day in mischief making. And frankly they are very good at the business of making mischief since they have nothing to offer. Unfortunately their mischief making is destructive and has to be checkmated. The PDP’s hanky panky of instigating clerics and workers has now reached a very dangerous dimension. Everyone knows for example that Religion and Politics do not mix and indeed is a combustible cocktail. In spite of this the PDP is trying to stir it up. Everyone also knows that the very great gains made in the arena of economic regeneration have been made with great sacrifices. That Aregbesola has shown great fiscal rectitude in order to rebuild the state’s finances. He has to be commended for so doing. http://www.osundefender.org/?p=96924 What has to be done now as the PDP faces electoral annihilation in next year’s election is greater enlightment. All the great gains made must be vigorously trumpeted over and over again as in constant reminders. It is after all not just enough to have governed well, even imaginatively. The gains must be highlighted over and over again. We must continue to trumpet it over and over again. Osun is working; Aregbesola is building a better society and constructing a new more edifying era where there will be a better life for all. Source: http://www.osundefender.org/?p=96924

Wonders: Proxy 'APC' Sends E-mail Using PDP Address! Facts emerged on Friday that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is behind the desire to register the controversial “African Peoples Congress,” as the “new party" mistakenly issued a statement in Abuja today using the email address of the ruling party. Already, one Mr. Thomas Ibu, the PDP official in charge of the PDP Internet is being queried for the "national embarrassment" the mismanaged ruse has caused the party. The statement was sent to reporters officially accredited to cover the PDP. It was copied to almost all the officials of the party, including its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, as well as party officials who work with Metuh in the Publicity Department, such as Keneth Gyado and Nwachukwu Ngige. Metuh and those working with him in his department are said to be the brains behind the new “party.” The bogus APC was hurriedly put together to thwart the efforts of the opposition, who have come together under the All Progressive Congress, from being registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission. A member of the party's National Working Committee said the Presidency, which is laboring under heavy national and international lampooning following the pardon granted convicted former governor Dipreye Alamieyesegha, was fuming with anger over the new embarrassment. "This is an operation we ought to carry out cleanly, without letting the world know that we are ones behind the new party. But the bubble has burst now with this silly mistake. Too bad," the NWC member said. In the email titled, "EMERGENCY PRESS RELEASE", the PDP appendix APC raised the alarm that its members were being “threatened.” Full text of the statement: The African People’s Congress has uncovered plots by some faceless persons believed to be inspired by desperate elements in the so-called merger group to attack and possibly eliminate key officers of the African People’s Congress (APC). This came to light barely twenty four hours after APC, its National Headquarters, logo, manifesto and constitution were unveiled to Nigerians and indeed Africa. After the elaborate event and appraisal meetings and stakeholders’ interactions that followed at the National headquarters, most officers of the party left the secretariat late yesterday. At about 10.15pm when an officer of the party, Hon Dan Iloabanafo and some administrative staff were getting ready to close the Secretariat for the day, two men came round the backside of the office claiming they wanted to register as members of the party, a feature that has become common place in the secretariat, but Iloabanafo advised them to come back the next day or any other week day. The hoodlums insisted they preferred to be registered immediately, and while the party officer was trying to explain things to them, they pulled out guns and demanded the whereabouts of the Acting Chairman who had left the Secretariat earlier. After moving from one office to the other and satisfying themselves that the Acting Chairman was not in the office, the gunmen left ,muttering words that were barely audible but suggested that there were other highly placed persons complicit in the plot but preferred to be kept out of the plot. Against this backdrop, the APC wishes to reiterate that no amount of intimidation or harassment can deter it from pursuing its lofty goals and aspirations in the interest of the good people of Nigeria. We are too busy to engage in hollow exchanges as initiated yesterday by Chief Tom Ikimi, who fruitless shopped for excuses, claims and assertions to justify their failures and political inadequacies. As the “assemblage of windpipes” which the merger group represents, Ikimi rushed off to the press on learning of the unveiling of the APC and our firmness of purpose; to ventilate a most pedestrian assertion’ such that can only be expected of school-age children or demented teenagers. As their helter-skelter search for means to undermine the APC continues, we wish to alert Nigerians of their grand plot of smuggling a back-dated application for registration into the INEC, an action that could plunge Nigerian democracy into the woods of lawlessness. For APC, that is most unacceptable. It is indeed pathetic that same people that claim to pursue the deepening of democracy cannot abide by the letters of the constitution and due process. While the merger racketeers continue to fiddle, the APC leadership would be paying a visit to the victims of the Madallabomb blast this weekend as an expression of our people-centred objectives. In anticipation of the issuance of our certificate of registration, a meeting of National Officers of the party would hold at the party headquarters next week to commence mobilisation and sensitization of Nigerians preparatory to the launching of our about to be registered party. How PDP used hatchet man behind phantom APC to terrorise Atiku, Nnamani Ikenga Ugochinyere, 36, the hatchet man behind the formation of the controversial African Peoples Congress, APC, is the National Director of the PDP Youth Movement, a youth group in the governing Peoples Democratic Party. During the tenure of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, the law graduate of Imo State University , Owerri, led the militant wing of the ruling party consistently hurling insults at and leading protests and demonstrations against anyone perceived to be opposed to Mr. Obasanjo and the leadership of the PDP. Mr. Ugochinyere’s present preoccupation to frustrate the registration of the mega opposition party, the All Progressives Congress by denying them the APC acronym, is consistent with the roles he has played for the PDP in the past few years. We look back at a few of the hatchet jobs Mr. Ugochinyere executed for the ruling party in the past. Read our earlier story about Mr. Ugochinyere here. Used to fight Vice President Atiku Abubakar In September 2006, while then President Olusegun Obasanjo and his deputy, Vice President Atiku Abubakar, feuded, Mr. Ugochinyere was contracted to lead protests against the vice president as a way of putting pressure on him and his camp. On September 30 that year, Mr. Ugochinyere led a huge protest to the PDP national secretariat in Abuja demanding that Mr. Atiku be expelled from the party. The then party secretary, Ojo Maduekwe, who received the protesters, thanked them for demonstrating and promised that the party would consider their demands. Mr. Abubakar was later expelled from the party. On February 1, 2007, Mr. Ugochinyere led a protest to the INEC headquarters in Abuja, requesting the commission to disqualify VP Atiku from that year’s presidential election. The group was received by the then INEC National Commissioner in charge of Political Party Monitoring, Ishmael Igbani, who received a petition from them. The commission later disqualified the vice president from the election, a decision Mr. Atiku challenged and set aside in court. On February 6, 2007, Mr. Ugochinyere, backed by the Ahmadu Ali-led PDP, issued a statement giving Mr. Atiku a 20-day ultimatum to vacate his official residence, threatening to lead a mob to invade the complex if the then vice president failed to comply. Mr. Atiku didn’t comply but Mr. Ugochinyere failed to carry out his threat. Tenure extension for Ahmadu Ali and Co. In November 2007, the lawyer was used here by a group within the party opposed to a national convention members yearned for at the time. At that time Ahmadu Ali and his group in the National Working Committee were reluctant to step down and it was to Mr. Ugochinyere they turned. For days, Mr. Ugochinyere widely circulated text messages asking journalists and party members across the country to support the campaign to allow the Ahmadu Ali-led leadership of the party remain in office till 2009. His message at the time read, “Support the patriotic campaign for the present PDP National Working Committee four-year tenure completion. The present NWC led by Dr. Ahmadu Ali and Bernard Eze is still valid. The era of cut and join politics is over and Rule of Law must prevail. All loyal PDP members and patriotic Nigerians must join the campaign for the restoration of the dignity of the PDP Constitution as an internal foundation for enhanced democracy”, one of the test messages read. “We must put Mr. President’s Rule of Law theory into work by standing on the side of constitutionality that an NWC elected at our 2005 national convention can only go at the end of a four-year tenure (2009). Any move to illegally institute a new NWC will be declared null and void by a competent court. On 2009 convention we stand.” He also claimed at the time to be collecting 250, 000 signatures from party members across the country. He said once the exercise was completed, he would head for the Federal High Court to obtain a restraining order against the party. Following Mr. Ugochinyere’s aggressive campaign, discreetly supported by the party, the convention was postponed at the time. Used against Nnamani In 2008, the PDP used Mr. Ugochinyere as an instrument of aggression against G-21, a group led by a former President of the Senate, Ken Nnamani, which at the time agitated for a review of the provision in the party’s constitution which made the office of the Board of Trustees the exclusive preserve of former presidents and national chairmen of the party. To checkmate Mr. Nnamani and his group, the PDP encouraged Mr. Ugochinyere to announce the emergence of another parallel group opposed to G-21. At a rally cum press briefing in Abuja on February 18, 2008, Mr. Ugochinyere announced the birth of G-37 which he claimed consisted of members of the PDP caucus in the National Assembly, top government functionaries, state governors, members of state Houses of Assembly and some delegates to the convention. He didn’t provide names. Cursing and fuming, he described the Nnamani group as comprising politicians who had no electoral value. He said, “The sponsored emergence of the group that calls itself G-21 is a clear example of the gathering of few poor, hungry and vocal few whose desire for political rascality knows no bound. “The irritating activities of this group have made them and their promoters more unpopular.” Mr. Ugochinyere said it was the opinion of his group that “all persons that aspire not only to lead PDP, but also to be its members must be true party men and women whose loyalty must not be in doubt”. PDP front man in battle against Pius Anyim Also in February 2008, Mr. Ugochinyere was used by a bloc within the PDP opposed to a former President of the Senate, Anyim Pius Anyim, who was angling for the position of party chairman at the time. Mr. Obasanjo and the party leadership had backed Vincent Ogbulafor for the position, which was zoned to the South-East geopolitical zone at the time. Mr. Ugochinyere was recruited to mount a campaign of calumny against Mr. Anyim. He took the job seriously accusing Ike Ekeremadu, deputy president of the senate, of trying to foist Mr. Anyim on the party. On February 22, 2008, he addressed a press conference in Abuja carpeting the South-East leaders of the party and alleging that the South-East caucus meeting scheduled for that Saturday had been programmed to throw up Mr. Anyim. He alleged that the script of the meeting had been written in Abuja and would only be acted out in Enugu. He also claimed that the communiqué of the meeting had been drafted and that an unnamed chieftain of the party would only fly into Enugu to read it to participants. Mr. Ugochinyere said then, “The reason for raising this alarm is that high wire intrigues and influence of external forces capable of destroying our march towards enhanced intra party democracy have overtaken the meeting of this caucus billed to hold in Enugu on Saturday with a select few of the conveners already arranged to adopt Anyim Pius without respect for participatory democracy.” He continued, “Great party men are worried that a meeting billed to hold on Saturday has had its agenda and communiqué already drafted and written at Abuja and handed over to a top member of the caucus who will fly into Enugu to read it to the press.Political watchers in the South-East and beyond have wondered why the caucus of legislature wants to dabble into the issue of anointing a candidate for a position zoned to the South-East without due consultation and calling an all embracing meeting of leaders of the zone.” FOR MORE RELATED ARTICLES visit http://primegossips.com/?p=5945

Keshi, NFF have abandoned me – Emenike Injured Spartak Moscow strike Emmanuel Emenike has fired a broadside at the Nigeria Football Federation and Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi by accusing them of being insensitive to his plight. The South Africa 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Golden Boot winner with four goals sustained a hamstring injury after scoring two goals to help Nigeria beat Mali 4-1 and set up a final clash with Burkina Faso. The Eagles beat the Stallions 1-0 to win the championship for the third time. Emenike, who was not invited for the Eagles’ March 23 World Cup qualifier with Kenya in Calabar, has been on the treatment table at his club. The former Fenerbahce star alleged on Friday that neither Keshi nor the NFF had contacted him since he returned to his Russian club. “I have not been treated well by the coach and the NFF because they ignored me so soon, so fast,” Emenike was quoted by MTFootball.com as saying. “Nobody from the NFF or the coach himself has called to ask me about my injury. I’m bitter about this. It is unfair and I can tell you that is why some players don’t give their best for the national team. “When a player gets injured on national duty, the football authorities and coach ought to keep in touch to let him know he is loved. “I am not a use-and-dump player. I will not act as one at all, because my club career is very important to me than anything.” He added, “(Victor) Anichebe was injured while on national team duty last year but no-sone cared about him and you think he will come to national team to give his best.” Source: http://primegossips.com/?p=5895 The NFF Media Officer Ademola Olajire declined comments on Emenike’s allegation, saying he was not authorised to comment on the issue.

FUNAAB lecturer crushes two students to death An unidentified lecturer of the Federal University of Agriculture on Friday allegedly crushed two male students of the university with his car at Isolu, about two kilometers to the institution’s permanent site in Alabata, Abeokuta, Ogun State. The incident sparked a riot as students of the institution took to the streets in anger at the killing of their colleagues by the unidentified lecturer. He was said to be driving the Pathfinder jeep that crushed the two undergraduates. The unidentified lecturer said to be attached to the institution’s Department of Water Resources Management reportedly fled the scene immediately the accident occurred to escape being mobbed by the angry students. An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the driver of the jeep lost control of the vehicle before it rammed into the students, who were walking by the side of the road, killing them on the spot. Other FUNAAB students allegedly set the SUV ablaze after the driver had escaped and barricaded the roads leading to the university campus. The students also defied pleas by the policemen deployed in the area not to take the laws into their hands. FUNAAB Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kola Adepoju who confimed the killing of the two students, said the university had declared Monday, March 18, 2013 as a lecture-free day to mourn the dead students. The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident on the telephone. He said the bodies of the victims had been deposited at a mortuary. Lawyer Behind Proxy APC’s Letter Regrets Action, Says PDP Youth Activist Put Him Up To It With a tinge of regret in his voice, Mr. Nwokorie Samuel Chinedu, the lawyer who filed the application with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the registration of the controversial African Peoples Congress (APC), has spoken of his role in the row. Nwokorie, who spoke with our correspondent from his hideout in Abuja Wednesday night, said he was hired by Ugochinyere Ikenga sometime in February to file the application – an action which has kept leaders of merging parties battling to defend their emerging party’s identity. Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Congres for Progressive Change (CPC) have merged to form the All Progressives Party (APC). The proxy “APC” is believed to be an attempt to throw a spanner in the works for the real APC. According to the lawyer, Ikenga paid him N30, 000 before he filed the papers. The “client” paid him N50, 000 later and gave him a Samsung Galaxy phone after the job had been done. Nwokorie said he took the brief as a young lawyer eager to earn a living without any inkling of what Ikenga had in mind. He added that Ikenga told him that he was acting on behalf of the promoters of the party. His words: “Ugochinyere Ikenga approached me sometime in February 2013 to put in an application for the registration of a political party by name African Peoples Congress. “He paid me an initial sum of N30,000 and later added another N50,000 and a Samsung Galaxy phone after I had filed the papers, with a promise that he was going to settle me after the party must have been registered. “I filed the application in the honest belief that it was just another political party because even the application I entered at INEC only bears the name African Peoples Congress. The acronym APC was not included in the application. “So there was no way I could have visualize, whether or not there was an ulterior motive in the registration of that political party. I was, however, surprised to see my name all over the newspapers, including the a sample of the application letter I wrote to INEC. “I wish to let Nigerians know that I am not a politician in anyway whatsoever. I regret the issues at hand and the dimension the entire thing is taking.” Asked to explain the discrepancy in the office address in the application and his real address, Nwokorie said the address was correct. According to him, a friend of his works in one of the two law chambers in the address. “I used the address because a friend of mine (a lawyer) works in one of the two chambers. But that friend does not wish to be dragged into this matter because of the uproar. “Legal World Chambers with which I filed the application is duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). I personally registered the firm. But if anyone has any doubts, let them check it out with the CAC. “Some people are even doubting whether I am a lawyer or not. I challenge them to go to the Supreme Court and check the roll to see whether or not my name is there.” Nwokorie said he did his first degree programme at Buea University in Cameroun. He did NYSC in Abuja in 2005/2006 after which he proceeded to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) where he got a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy. According to him, he attended the Law School, Bwari, Abuja and was called to the Bar on February 14, 2011. The obviously-frightened Nwokorie said he was forced to switch off his phones because he was bombarded with calls. “I am not happy about the unfolding event because I did not bargain for it, especially as I have been receiving calls from unknown persons and my present boss, whose identity I would not want to reveal for now, is not happy with me. My family is also worried and apprehensive about the entire thing,” Nwokorie said. Meanwhile, Ikenga has kept telling Nwokorie that he should not bother himself about the heat generated by the action, assuring him that the sponsors of the application would handle the matter. Said the lawyer: “He keeps telling me not to worry, that I should be a man and that he would handle the matter. He also said that the real owners of the party would soon be revealed to Nigerians. “Once again, I want to tell Nigerians that I just took a brief as a young lawyer and it ended there. I don’t know the sponsors of the party. The only person I know is Ugochinyere Ikenga, who gave me the brief. “I got to know Ikenga through a friend. I thought it wise to come out and tell Nigerians the entire story because I keep receiving calls all-day through. My major concern now is my letter head, which is in the custody of INEC. “My family has asked me to hands off the matter, which is the reason I have come out in the open,” Nwokorie stated. When our correspondent called Ikenga on his telephone number provided by Nwokorie, he promised to call our correspondent back and cut the line off. He never did. NIGERIA'S EL-CLASICO: WHO WINS MESSI OR C.RONALDO ? Asks Tunde Oyekunle Oyeleke Chairman of the Nigerian ruling party,Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamangar Tukur while reacting to the formation of the new party,All Progressives Party (APC) which is the merger of the four major oppostion parties,(ACN,CPC,ANPP and a faction of the APGA ) dismissed the formationof the new party as no threat because his party, PDP is a Messi , in reference to irrepassable FC Barcelona deadly striker . And when the leader of Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) and convener of APC ,Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was asked last Wednesday during the opening of the two-storey secretariat building named after him at Lagos Mainland Local Government, to react to the statement credited to PDP boss, he replied by saying that APC is C. Ronaldo who recently led Real Madrid to defeat Messi and Barcelona on both home and away grounds. Now that the two principal actors have likened themselves to the currently the two best players in the world and the clash of the duo and their teams is known as el-clasico so it would not be out of place to describe battle between PDP and APC as such. As we approach the countdown to the grand Nigeria's edition of el-clasico scheduled for 2015 both sides have left no stone unturned to ensure victory is achieved either by fair or foul means, In the prelude to the final encounter,Nigeria's Messi team PDP has been trying to take advantage of the power to select the arbiter, referee,in this case (INEC). In connivance with the referee, PDP has been trying to accuse APC for fielding unqualified player and attempting to register fake Christopher Ronaldo (African Progressives Party) instead of Christiano Ronaldo (All Progressive Party) so that the latter would be disqualified and awarded red card even before the commencement of the match. However,APC have exposed this gang-up for evil machination which is almost dead on arrival because it has disgracefully exposed during the pre tournament press coferences and has threatened to take the case to arbitration panel if PDP and INEC did not retract their steps. Though it is not possible to change the referee for this forthcoming match, APC has lost confidence in performances of INEC which has openly displayed outright bias officiatings in favour of PDP in the previous encounters,APC has stated that it would not allow the perfidity to repeat itself in the forthcoming make or mar grand finales. While APC has been making efforts to consolidate and reinforce the team,PDP was busy depleting with divided team not taking training sessions seriously enough but hang hopes on the referee to help them the match at all cost but from the looks of things it may be easy this time around. In order to avoid the higher authouritiy ban on both teams there should a conducise and enabling ground for fair play and in the spirit of game let the better side win without any partiallty. As we await the Nigeria's edition of el-clasico who wins, is it Messi (PDP) or C.Ronaldo (APC)? PRIME GOSSIPS: http://primegossips.com/?p=5826

A third group sharing the acronym APC has filed a letter of intent to be registered as a political party with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The name it seeks is All Patriotic Citizens (APC). On Monday, the African Peoples Congress (APC) filed a letter of intent INEC. The development has further worsened the troubles of the merging opposition political parties to be known as the All Progressives Congress (APC). The opposition parties are yet to file any letters of intent for its new party to be registered with the INEC. But the opposition parties are crying blue murder, vowing never to let go their name and acronym, since they were the first to announce to Nigerians and the whole world the name of their new party-to-be. They said the name and acronym remain their intellectual property. The parties alleged that they have it on good authority that the establishment has set up a high-powered team headed by a ranking officer of government and furnished with unlimited resources from public funds with a clear mandate to corrupt the democratic institutions and destabilise the opposition. The opposition further warned that over and above the collective correspondence the merging parties sent to INEC, each of them has communicated to INEC the assurance that the processes stipulated in the Electoral Act are accordingly ongoing towards the consummation of the merger. INEC will not register political parties with the same acronym going by the Electoral Act. Against this backdrop, it is viewed by observers that the scheming is geared towards scuttling the opposition parties. The African Peoples Congress went ahead to unveil their logo, flags and party headquarters in Abuja yesterday. ‘APC is our intellectual property’ The merging opposition political parties yesterday in Abuja declared that the acronym of their platform, All Progressives Congress (APC), is and remains their intellectual property. They vowed to pursue the process of its registration to its logical conclusion in the interest of “dear fatherland”. Addressing a press conference, chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Chief Tom Ikimi, flanked by Alhaji Ibrahim Shekarau, Senator Annie Okonkwo and Alhaji Garba Gadi representing other parties in the merger, said the name and acronym “APC” have become the intellectual property of the merging parties since February 6, 2013, as they have received wide publicity in the print and electronic media. Ikimi warned that the feeble attempt by any other entity to pretend to use the same acronym is an exercise in futility, because it amounts to what, in law, is called “passing off”. He said the group had, for several weeks now, put the country and indeed the whole world on notice about the decision of three registered political parties, namely, the ACN, All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) to merge into one formidable party for the purpose, among others, of accentuating political competitiveness, providing a viable alternative political platform and promoting the much-desired political change in the governance of the country. According to Ikimi, all legal and constitutional processes required to formalise the merger and register the new party with INEC in the name of All Progressive Congress (APC) are already in progress, in top gear and includes its earlier announcement on February 6, 2013, of the decision of the three parties to merge. He said: “Prior to the adoption of the name, we had carried out a careful search of the existing names of all parties with extant registration in Nigeria and, finding out that none had the name All Progressive Congress nor the acronym, we chose the name and unveiled it. Thus, by that public announcement, the name All Progressive Congress and the acronym APC became our intellectual property which we shall guard jealously. “It has therefore come to us as a rude shock that the INEC would announce receipt of a letter from what is known to be a faceless and unknown political group ostensibly driven by sheer mischief purporting to request for registration with the name African Peoples Congress. The obvious motive of this letter is to attempt, albeit in futility, to scuttle the registration of the All Progressives Congress, which has been so widely publicised and well received to the discomfort of the establishment.” Continuing, Ikimi stated: “Unfortunately, we have it on good authority that the establishment, gravely troubled by the emergence of a united opposition, has set up a high-powered team headed by a very high ranking officer of government and furnished with unlimited resources from public funds with a clear mandate to corrupt the democratic institutions and destabilise the opposition. “We have taken the pains to furnish the foregoing facts because we will not accept any attempt by INEC, relying on a dubious application clearly not in compliance with the conditions set out in the constitution or the Electoral Act, to scuttle our plans to formalise our merger under our adopted name and acronym. New APC unveils identity Falling out of a prior application before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for registration as a political party, the newly formed African Peoples Congress (APC) also yesterday disclosed its identity with the official unveiling of its logo, flag, constitution, manifesto, slogan, membership card, national officers and a protem national chairman, Chief Onyinye Ikeagwuonu. The APC stated that it was poised to create a “people’s alternative” that will eventually break the “axis of evil” the current political parties in government have subjected Nigerians to since 1999. In a speech delivered in Abuja by its national chairman “to mark the end of completion of the constitutional process for registration as a political party by INEC”, he regretted that since 1999 Nigerians have entrusted their political fortunes in the hands of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and other politicians who have shown “a resounding emptiness of character, clearly unfit for any kind of leadership”. Ikeagwuonu said: “Since 1999, all we have to show for their political dominance is purposeless and rudderless leadership that has added little or no value to the lives and welfare of the average Nigerian. The collective achievements of these contraptions called PDP, ACN, and ANPP can best be likened to the dance of the penguins – one step forward, two steps backward - and the woes of our country continue to evolve from bad to worse. “With the economy of the states wound round monthly allocations and diverted council funds, the governors of the PDP shuttle across the globe in private jets that further diminish the resources of their states, leaving the people to bear the brunt. As a matter of urgent national importance, we urge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately commence investigation into the source of fund used to purchase the private jets by these public officers.” Ikeagwuonu took a swipe at the new opposition merger, All Progressive Congress (APC), tagging it an “alliance of political desperadoes”. The party sought to clear the perceived misconceptions. It insisted that it applied to INEC for registration through a lawyer whose services it retained and a letter duly submitted to the commission. Subsequently, the party stated, it got a reply from INEC stipulating requirements and preconditions for registration. Within the period, it paid the N1million administrative and processing fee stipulated by the commission, said Ikeagwuonu. “Today we have submitted the long list of requirements as prescribed by INEC and have completed the constitutional demand on us for registration as a political party. Accordingly, INEC has duly acknowledged our submission and this is the INEC-endorsed letter to that effect.” Another APC emerges, unveils logo in Abuja Another twist was added to the scenario when a new party emerged in Abuja with the name “All Patriotic Citizens”, laying claim to the already controversial acronym of APC. The new group, at a press conference yesterday, unveiled its logo bearing a lantern symbol and a manifesto in which it said it is “completely committed to liberal democratic and constitutional governance and shall at all times protect and promote them”. According to an application letter obtained by LEADERSHIP which was addressed to the chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) dated March 8, 2013, and acknowledged by the commission on March 11, 2013, the group said it has existed for the past two years as a pressure group, hence it is requesting the approval of INEC for their group to function as a political party in Nigeria. The letter was signed by the group’s national director of operation, Mr. Oliver Chidi Ike. The headed letter paper of the new group indicates Plot 1385 Gurara Street, Off IBB Way, Maitama, Abuja, as its office address. The preamble of APC’s manifesto reads in part, “All Patriotic Citizens is a political association of patriotic Nigerians who have genuine concern for the plight of our nation and are determined to work together irrespective of tribe, religion, sex, e.t.c. to reposition our country Nigeria for peaceful co-existence of all. We are committed to the re-engineering of our political, economic and social foundations to eschew politics of bitterness and build a new, united and prosperous Nigeria under good democratic governance.” We shall surpass INEC hurdles – ANPP chairman The national chairman of the ANPP, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, has assured that irrespective of the current hurdles facing the formal registration of the new party with INEC, the APC shall be registered, and will be ready to face the ruling PDP within the next couple of months. Onu expressed these convictions on Wednesday while receiving the delegation of the stakeholders of the ANPP in Bauchi State led by Senator Mohammed A. Mohammed, who paid him a courtesy call at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja. The ANPP national chairman, also noted that the driving philosophy behind the formation of the merger political party was not to compete for political power but to solve the myriad of problems currently facing the nation, as the new party is made up of respectable politicians from different parts of the nation with hands-on experience on how to redeem the dwindling fortunes of the nation. In his welcome address to the nine-man delegation from Bauchi, Dr Onu said, ‘‘The APC will do a lot for Nigeria. One, it will change the way politics is played in Nigeria. We will move the country away from politics of personality to issues-based and ideas-driven politics. ‘‘Politics of personality is divisive; it uses things that divide like religion and ethnic sentiments. But ideas-based politics unites everybody; for example if some people are poor in Ekiti, others are poor in Ebonyi, and yet others poor in Jigawa State, they will all agree on the same issue on poverty. http://www.leadership.ng/nga/articles/50117/2013/03/15/confusion_apc_number_3_emerges.html |
Breaking News: Behold The Lawyer Behind the Controversial Phantom APC This morning, a team of crack investigative reporters from Osun Defender Newspapers and our Search Engine Consultants (SEO), dug out with forensic zeal and tore the mask from the face of evasive “masquerades” behind the phantom party, African Peoples Congress (APC), believed to be sponsored by PDP to thwart the merger and registration of the All Progressive Congress. The picture above is that of the lawyer, one “Barrister Nwokorie Samuel Chinedu” from the floating “Legal World Chambers” who wrote to INEC the controversial letter of intent on behalf of his “clients” the African Peoples Congress (APC). Because of the exposure of the dirty game, the lawyer has switched off his two numbers: 08164257977 and 08053957522. Yesterday, he picked the phone when we called him but he was evasive and not forthcoming of if he was the Barrister Nwokorie Samuel Chinedu, he told us he would call us back and by 8.23 p.m. after so many un-returned calls (44 in all) he switched off his two phones and they are yet to be switched on as at this afternoon before we went to press. The address on the letter-head— Suite 1007, Block B, Anbeez Plaza in Wuse Zone 5, also happened to be another mystery in the duplicitous game. A staff who pleaded anonymity told us outside the office that none of the members of two chambers that co-habit the office (IJEOMA DESTINY CHAMBERS and Maji-Emmanuel & Co) had any knowledge of either a third chamber by the name: “Legal World Chambers”, neither any partner that bears the name: “Barrister Nwokorie Samuel Chinedu”. The staff after we showed her the printed picture of Barrister Samuel Chinedu said he knew the face but was not a member of the either chamber, and was only a casual acquaintance of one of her principals. She said the drama is not uncommon with charge and bail lawyers who most times do not have a chamber but use the address of their friend’s chambers. Meanwhile, the vociferous challenge mounted my APC spokespersons has driven the phantom APC to hastily provide “logistics” for the unveiling of a logo this morning in Abuja at a press conference. Samuel who hailed from Owerri township in Imo State joined FACEBOOK on 11th October, 2008 had only 8 friends – all female, (Bibi Olukini, Chichi Ekpe, Beeorlah Mimi Julia Soyebo, Chibbie Raymnd Nonyizzle, Joy Jade Ikhialose Idomeh, Tenny Olowu, Chioma Kaycee Onyebuchi and Maurine Bayen) in 2008, but grew to 43 in 2009… His steady stream of friends have since grown to 462 as at yesterday 13th march 2013. President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday met with David Cameron, British Prime Minister and pleaded his country’s assistance to stem the big oil theft in Nigeria’s Niger Delta. Jonathan reportedly told Cameron, who now chairs G8 that stolen oil from the Nigeria is shipped abroad where it is refined and sold in the international market. He described the crime as “blood oil”. Oil theft, known in Nigeria as illegal bunkering accounts for more than 10 per cent of Nigeria’s daily oil production of 2.2 million barrels. The president who called for sanctions for all those involved in the illegal trade, said that the G8 has a role to play in putting an end to the crime, challenging the group of industrialised nations to take a stand similar to the one taken on money laundering by public office holders Jonathan also called on the G-8 to look into the issue of proliferation of small arms and light weapons in Africa, and long term peace keeping support for Mali, a theme that he took across the Channels to Paris, where he later held talks with President Francois Hollande. According to him, there is need to sustain stability in Mali after the military intervention, otherwise, the rebels may adopt a guerrillas approach of killings and suicide bombings, thus continuing their terrorist activities by other means.http://primegossips.com/?p=3529 While noting the cordial relations between Nigeria and the UK, the President expressed commitment to promoting trade and investment between both countries. http://primegossips.com/?p=3529 “We have a robust relationship in terms of trade, because trade between African nations are more difficult than trade with other countries. Without robust trading the economy cannot develop because whatever you do either primary production or industrial, you need trade facilitation,” Jonathan said. Responding, Cameron, said both nations had a close relationship based on successful trade and investment which would double in the coming years. Cameron also said that the two countries would continue to build on their strong diplomatic and political relations as well as aid and development partnership. http://primegossips.com/?p=3529 |
Hip-hop singer, Susan Harvey, popularly called Goldie, is dead. News of the death of the sensational artiste, who was a housemate at the Big Brother Africa in 2012, broke on Thursday night, throwing the Nigerian entertainment world and the larger public into mourning. Although details of the cause of the reported death were sketchy as at press time, reports indicated that she died on Thursday night at Reddington Hospital, in Victoria Island, Lagos. The PUNCH called the Reddington Hospital last night but a voice at the Front Desk of the hospital last night said, “Sorry, I can’t confirm that now because our information unit has closed for the day.” It was learnt that Goldie died in the presence of a Lagos-based entertainer, Denrele Edun, who was in the hospital with her. When our correspondent tried to reach Edun, his phone was switched off. But when a call was also put through to another artiste, Essence, she confirmed the incident, even as she wept profusely. Essence is on the same Kenny Music label that produced Goldie’s works. Susan Oluwabimpe Harvey was born in the early 1980s to very educated and successful parents. The first of four kids, Goldie attended the Green Springs Montessori Primary School and St. John’s College, Palm Groove, in Lagos. Her music career remotely kicked off at the University of Sunderland where she was admitted to study Business Management. Goldie was signed on to Kennis Music in 2010. A few months later, she released her acclaimed debut titled, ‘Gold’. Her hit songs include ‘You Know It’, ‘Jawo Jawo’ and DTMB (Don’t Touch My Body). Goldie has so far received a total of 10 awards, including Exquisite Lady of the year, Best Female Artiste award and City People Best Female Artiste of the year. She has also been inducted as a Federal Celebrity Special Marshal, alongside other notable Nigerian Celebrities. The Law Students Society of the Obafemi Awolowo University recently issued her an Award for Musical Excellence under the category of Best Female Artiste of the Year. She has also been conferred a United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace by the Federal Government. Goldie became the final celebrity to exit the BBA7 star game house in 2012 as the 3rd runner up. http://primegossips.com/?p=3520
