President Goodluck Jonathan made it known today on his official facebook page that unity is the secret weapon Nigeria used against Ebola Virus Disease.

Yesterday, Nigeria was declared Ebola free by the World Health Organization, (WHO). The declaration is an attestation to the Nigerian Can Do Spirit. It is also a clear demonstration of the many possibilities of our Nation.
With us as a people, united under God, there is nothing we cannot achieve when we stand together behind an objective. Unity is the secret weapon Nigeria used against the Ebola Virus Disease and nothing shall be impossible for a united Nigeria.
I congratulate and thank all Nigerians on this great feat. I want to also specially thank the governments and peoples of Lagos, Rivers and Enugu states, the first responders who treated the index cases. To all the thirty six state governors who united with the Federal Government to rid Nigeria of this scourge I also say a big thank you.
Although we have been declared free of Ebola we must however, remain vigilant as the Ebola virus is still on rampage in neighboring Sister Countries. We cannot afford to let down our guard when there is still Ebola pain in our subregion. In this regard we will spare no resource in supporting our neighbors in the battle to contain this deadly scourge.

Oct 20, 2014 – The drama going on in Ekiti state is far from over. Few weeks after causing serious trouble for his APC opponents, the governor of Ekiti state has rededicated his life to Christ. Fayose on his inauguration date reportedly invited juju priests, pastors and prophets to perform spiritual cleansing of the governor lodge after which he did an open house party for all Ekiti people. The alleged trouble maker was sworn in on Thursday and rededicated his life to Christ at a Deeper Life Bible Church in Ado Ekiti on Monday. His born again wife has been his backbone all this while. Mrs Feyisetan Fayose and her hubby today thanked God during a special thanksgiving service where Fayose rededicated his life to Christ. During the thanksgiving service, Fayose prostrated with his face down on the altar and promised to sin no more. Read Fayose’s statement below: If this time has been in Bible days, my name would have been one of the names to be recorded as those who God gave a second chance. “My return to government is not common in history. It is a rare miracle. During the seven-and-a- half years of my political wilderness, I was taken to court over what I knew nothing about 59 times, aside the 45 days I spent in Ikoyi Prisons during my trial by the EFCC. “My security aides and political aides, such as Chief Dayo Okondo, were incarcerated for three- and-a- half years without committing any offence. “All my property was left in the Government House because I had to run for my dear life. So, this time my mission is to look after Ekiti people and not to fight anybody. I will not allow this position to go into my head or use it to oppress anybody. I don’t have anybody in mind to punish or any political battle to fight. “I won’t take vengeance, vengeance belongs to God. Be assured I will be warm to you. But you too turn away from evil so that the state can develop.” The governor, who expressed his belief that “God is above all,” said he had surrendered himself to His will. He also thanked his wife for staying by him during the period of challenges with a promise to consult her any time it was necessary to do so. “In time of challenges if you have no one to support you, you are finished,” . His wife, Feyisetan also narrated the travail of her hubby and how God has fulfilled His promise on his life. “God revealed to me that my husband, Mr Ayodele Fayose will return as the governor, but he never told me the time. God told me that our return would be done in such a way that will beat the people’s imagination. But because of the trouble we went through, at a time I prayed to God to please push my husband out of politics. Later, God told me that He will leave him there for Him to prove His power. “After we left, Gen Tunji Olurin came, Segun Oni and come Governor Kayode Fayemi and today God has manifested His power. Goodluck Jonathan has called on all intending Christian Pilgrims to pray for a peaceful, successful
conduct of the 2015
election and the safe
return of the abducted
Chibok girls.
Jonathan, who was
represented by the
President of the Senate, David Mark, made the call on Saturday in Abuja at
the inauguration of the 2014 Christian
Pilgrimage.
The occasion coincided with the transportation of the first batch of 250
Christian pilgrims from the Federal Capital Territory who would be visiting Israel, Greece and
Rome.
He said that Christians
should not forget that the main essence of
pilgrimage was to pray and be spiritually reborn in order to live better lives and to affect the lives of the people around them positively.
“Do not forget the
significance of pilgrimage, we need a rebirth and this rebirth must first begin with us for true transformation.
“Let us all pray for the
safe release of the Chibok girls and let us also pray for the peaceful conduct
of the 2015 general
elections,’’ he said.
The president expressed optimism that the truce reached between the government and Boko Haram would truly lead to lasting peace in the country.
He assured Nigerians that insecurity would not derail the Transformation
Agenda from actualising its purpose, stressing that God himself was taking the lead in the fight against insecurity.
Jonathan urged Christians not to view the pilgrimage as an avenue for doing business but should maintain a clean sheet without absconding as it had been recorded over the last few years.
In his remark, Executive Secretary of the National Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) John Kennedy Okpara, said that the government of Israel commended Nigeria for having a good record of no absconding pilgrims in the last few years.
He expressed gratitude to
God and the government for the support which the commission had received in conducting a successful
pilgrimage.
He expressed the hope
that upon their return,
the pilgrims would have become spiritually re-dedicated to God and
would impart the good thing they had learnt to people around them.
Also speaking, the
Chairman of the Board of NCPC and Primate of the Anglican Church, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, urged all contractors and handlers to treat the pilgrims with respect.
“Pilgrims must also
endeavour to be their
brothers’ keeper during this pilgrimage; do not resist corrections, stay together as one,’’ he said.
Over 30,000 pilgrims are targeted for the
