Dont u hav class mates?, Dont u hav friends?, Reach out to those u know at d teach hosps!.I am in O & G. |
I am also a Dr and work in both a teaching hospital and 1 or 2 private "shops"(few wl understand). The issue of sterility in a teaching hospital is nothing to worry about.A special unit with well trained personnel oversee this!, The problem is with some private hospitals where a lot goes on.There is nothing wrong in asking politely.Be sure if u go to a private clinic that u ask.Kindly request to see the sterilisation unit. Some bad eggs and eggheads do practice here! ![]() |
I share your frustrations at op!.The issues you raised though not entirely correct are simply examples of failure of governance. The Drs (I inclusive) are an integral part of this failed society.Nevertheless,no police report is required to attend to an accident victim!.However that of police report before attending to an accident victim has been waived by the lawmakers. It was a silly policy. However the Dr (at his own risk if you know what I mean),has to inform the police after having commenced treatment. Now,Imagine urself the Dr,after all the stress and challenge, someone comes after your jugular.reason,u treated him and called the police!, this calling! na waa! |
There is some management protocol for hepatitis B.see ur Dr asap! |
reindeer:Just lifted that directly from his/her pc! btw,go check your books again! doctokwus:, pt may have been to the tropics lately!, Remember pts could have malaria months after visiting the tropics! ![]() |
We said this at the begining that this senseless old man has nothing for Abia. This is a man who won the charade called elections while in detention in Lagos courtesy of a better thief,OUK!His 1st dispensation was notorios with internal roads deteriorating, kidnapping reaching a crescendo, robbery at its peak, corruption in high places and all forms of misgovernance. How can a gov as old as TA orji, allow his "not-so-juvenile" son be power drunk?Nothing is working in Abia. What we have is a reign of "TERROR".If u oppose this "Terrorist government",they will chase you out of Abia of kill you.Opposition and functional criticisms strenghten Democracy bt this stupid man doent realise this.Nothing Lasts forever tho! |
I am a DR and I wk and reside in PH.1stly,kudos to the OP for ur efforts.2ndly,poverty-ignorance-disease form a triad of death! It is cos of this triad that the mother allowed that boys sickness to deteriorate to that point.Public and private hospitals in Nigeria are understaffed.Providing round the clock coverage is the issue.Availability of blood depends partially on availability of electricity to power the blood banks. The share cost of running the hospitals makes their proprietors work with a minimal number of staff (Drs inclusive).3rdly people ,as mentioned by a poster, patronise pharmacists and open chemists who are after selling their drugs much more than making an accurate diagnosis before treatment, Go to Ebus pharmacy (Ogbunabali) and see.Capino pharmacy with his Philipino wife (a lab technician) now run a specialist hospital! There was this case of an obstructed hernia (swollen, difficult to push in groin) that went to Capino.Since he is not a Dr and doesnt have d clinical skills to diagnose this problem,he admitted this boy,set up a drip, commenced Buscopan and antibiotic injections for 2 days (this will crack any Dr up).By the time,a relative, sensing deterioration of the boy, brought him to the hospital where i work,he was in a 'sorry state'!, He needed resection and anastomosis of d necrotic section of the obstructed bowel (some intestine in the hernia was rotten) and guess what,he paid a whooping 40,000 naira at Capino (surgery for simple hernia then was 30,000)!It is time to use internet sites to wake this "sleeping government" up! |
The dream abt the proverbial "greener pasture",the harsh realities of living in Nigeria,internet-driven craze (most youths are easily carried away by pix of Nigerians in dev countries) is the actual driving force! |
Posterity wl judge that cretin and senseless gov of Abia called Thief After (TA) Orji.He (and his Son) forgot that nothing lasts foreva.2015 is near. |
Keep trying.U'l soon get a placement. Its becoming diffi even to get placement for residency! |
A woman can bleed (not normal period) and still be pregnant!, If she has complains and you suspect pregnancy, kindly take her to a nearby hospital! |
To answer your question simply, NO! |
It is a congenital hernia.Surgery is the definitive treatment. It is not uncommon.Surgery can however be deferred until your convenience or when your baby is a lil bit more matured -say after 6 months. The surgery is called a herniotomy. We do it and discharge you same day. |
For the purposes of analysing ur case online, further info is needed. Are u married and for how long? How many children do you have? How stressful is this job?Are there other stressors? Do you smoke? or take alcohol? Do you have other constitutional symptoms-fever,headache,poor appetite? ::Andrew:::These complains point towards Malaria or some other systemic upsets.Internal heat, difficulty sleeping and "something" moving inbetwee your legs might be due to Psychosomatisation (mind sickness affecting the body).Try see another Dr here in NIgeria for a general checkup. The results from Dubai are more or less an infections screening.Your tests for Hepatitis B & C,Syphilis,HIV,Chlamydia are all Negative although they ddnt culture the Urine.Your case is rather simple if approached systematically! |
You need temporary contraception. There is no "ideal contraception"-1 devoid of side effects and failure. However you might consider rhythm method, and injectables. |
