•Mu’azu ‘not yet invited’ the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has raised a team to interrogate a former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, and 17 others, including 11 senior military officers. The officers, who have been mentioned in connection with the alleged $2.1 billion arms deals, will be quizzed in batches, it was learnt at the weekend. Some of the officers have, however, alleged that they were not allowed to appear before the Special Investigative Committee (sic) before being referred to the EFCC. A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, has said he has not received any invitation from the anti-graft agency, contrary to reports. The list of military officers to be grilled includes two former Chiefs of Air Staff, Air Marshals M.D. Umar and A.N. Amosu(rtd). Others to be probed are 22 companies traced to associates and relatives of some of the suspects. Also to be probed are: AVM A. M. Mamu (the Chief of Administration); AVM O.T.Oguntoyinbo (former Director of Production, Defence Headquarters); AVM R.A. Ojuawo (Air Officer Tactical Air Command, Makurdi; AVM J.B. Adigun(former Chief of Accounts and Budgeting in NAF); and AVM JA Kayode-Beckley (Director, Armament Research in Air Force Research and Development Centre); AVM T Omenyi (MD, NAF Holdings) four top officers at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Air Cdre A.O. Ogunjobi; Air Cdre G.M.D Gwani; Air Cdre S.O. Makinde; Air Cdre A.Y. Lassa and Col. N. Ashinze , who was the Special Military Assistant to the ex-National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.). Col. Ashinze is in the EFCC’s custody. The anti-graft agency has quizzed Alex Badeh Jr., son of the former Chief of Defence Staff, in connection with the arms scandal. A source said: “We are going ahead with the interrogation of some former and serving military officers as recommended. There is no going back on this. “We have a team ready to interact with these officers and about 22 companies. But we will conduct the interrogation in batches. “Very soon, we will invite these officers. We have a schedule of how we will conduct our findings.” Some serving and former military chiefs have raised issues on why they were referred to the EFCC because the sic had not invited them. A source said: “We were surprised that the EFCC has been mandated to interact with some of us when we were never invited by the sic which made the recommendation to the Presidency. “This is an area we want the President and Commander-In-Chief, HE Muhammadu Buhari, to look at. The sic did some preliminary work for EFCC to act upon. But we were not asked to appear. “We are not afraid of accounting for our tenure but due process must be followed.” Mu’azu said he had not received any invitation from the EFCC or any anti-graft agency. An aide to Muazu, who spoke on behalf of his boss, said: click here to read more |
The Federal Government has filed fresh criminal charges against a former Niger Delta militant leader, Chief Government Oweize Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo), involving about N22,765,900,000. The new charge, filed last Friday at the Federal High Court in Lagos, borders on stealing, advanced fee fraud and money laundering. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed the 22-count charge against Tompolo and 12 others. Justice Ibrahim Buba had, on January 14, ordered Tompolo’s arrest. The judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest after he failed to report in court to face a prior criminal charge against him. The judge had, a day earlier, summoned Tompolo, but the accused did not turn up. EFCC’s lawyer Festus Keyamo said Tompolo ignored previous invitations by EFCC during investigation. Others accused in the first charge include a former Director-General of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Patrick Akpobolokemi; Global West Vessel Specialist Limited, Odimiri Electricals Limited, Kemi Engozu, Boloboere Property and Estate Limited, Rex Elem, Destre Consult Limited, Gregory Mbonu and Captain Warredi Enisuoh. EFCC, in the 40-count charge, said the suspects allegedly diverted N34 billion, which accrued from the public private partnership agreement between NIMASA and Global West Vessel Specialist Limited for personal use. The alleged offence contravenes Section 15 (1) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) (Amendment) Act 2012 and punishable under Section 15(3) of the same Act. In the 22-count charge, Tompolo will face trial along with Akpobolokemi, whose four brothers – Victor, Nobert, Emmanuel and Clement – said to be at large, allegedly aided the suspects to commit the fraud. The other suspects are Kime Engozu, Josephine Otuaga, Rita Uruakpa and Pondi Kestin as well as seven companies – Mieka Dive Training Institute Ltd/GTE, Oyeinteke Global Network Ltd, Wabod Global Resources Ltd, Boloboere Properties Estate Ltd, Gokaid Marine Oil and Gas Ltd, Muhaabix Global Services Ltd and Watershed Associated Resources. They were accused of converting various sums running into over N22.7bn allegedly stolen from NIMASARead More! cc:lalasticlala , seun ,nairaland |

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has challenged President Mohammadu Buhari to direct the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to charge the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh to court if the commission was sure of evidences of fraud against him, saying; “the EFCC appears to be operating a system in which an accused person is first arrested, detained endlessly while the anti-corruption agency goes about looking for evidence.” Governor Fayose, who maintained his support for a genuine fight against corruption, challenged the EFCC to also act on petitions submitted to it against All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains and President Buhari’s election sponsors. Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose cautioned that nothing untoward must happen to Metuh, adding that the APC’s desperation to decimate and silence the opposition has dragged the Buhari-led government in the mud of lawlessness. click here to continue reading |

Someone stole Abraham Lincoln’s hand. The crime had no witnesses. There are no suspects. The police are not even certain when the hand disappeared. About all anyone knows is that a plaster sculpture of the 16th president’s hand, proudly displayed for years at the Kankakee County Museum, has been missing from its shelf since at least Dec. 11. Any art theft would be jarring in Kankakee, a working-class city about an hour’s drive south of Chicago, but because of its connection to Lincoln, the loss of this sculpture has touched a nerve there. Museum officials had thought that the theft might have been a prank, and that the plaster study would resurface in a few days. The police hoped someone might provide information about the theft after seeing a Facebook post by the department, which included photographs and described the hand as roughly “the size of a 8-10 pound ham.” The local newspaper, The Daily Journal, published an editorial pleading for the thief to come forward. “We are blessed to have such a fine museum with an impressive inventory,” the editorial said, “but the collection is not complete without Lincoln’s hands.” The hand was the work of George Grey Barnard, a sculptor who spent part of his boyhood in Kankakee around the time that Lincoln was assassinated, and whose admiration of Lincoln was a recurring theme in his art. The sculpture was displayed along with other renderings of Lincoln in a wing of the county historical museum built specifically to showcase Mr. Barnard’s work. Connie Licon, the museum’s executive director, said the hand sculpture had been on display since at least 1991. This was the first art theft she said she could remember in more than 20 years at the museum. “We were devastated. It just brought us all to the floor,” said Ms. Licon, who was alerted to the theft by a custodian who noticed the vacant spot on the shelf. “We’re a small museum, and we just don’t acquire pieces like this.” The police report estimated its worth at $5,000, but described the artwork as “invaluable.” “There’s almost no way to put a value on something like that because there’s no market,” said Jack Klasey, a longtime museum volunteer and local historian. The theft occurred at the beginning of the museum’s busiest month. In December, groups of schoolchildren and others streamed through the museum — past the Barnard sculptures, tributes to local sports heroes and artifacts honoring three Kankakee County natives who served as Illinois governor — read more http://www.mactizzyblog.com/2016/01/theft-of-lincolns-hand-baffles-illinois.html cc:Lalasticlala Mukina2 Obinoscopy Semid4lyf Lordzouga Ajanlekoko Yamakuza Debosky Mynd44 TheRealMrStan Ishilove |
Militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) executed a teenage boy by throwing him off a roof in Syria’s eastern city of Deir ez-Zor for being gay, local sources reported on Friday. The 15-year-old boy was arrested by ISIS militants on charges of homosexuality and he was thrown from the top of a building in central Deir ez-Zor. “The horrific execution took place in front of a large crowd,” a local media activist and an eyewitness told ARA News in Deir ez-Zor. An informed source reported that the victim was captured “in the house of an ISIS leader” earlier on Thursday. “The boy was accused of being engaged in a homosexual relation with the prominent ISIS officer Abu Zaid al-Jazrawi,” media activist Sarai al-Din told ARA News. While the boy was executed, Abu Zaid was expelled to Iraq after being deprived of his position. “Abu Zaid was forced to leave Syria and join the fighting fronts in northwestern Iraq. The decision has been taken by the ISIS leadership,” al-Din said. According to pro-ISIS sources, the Sharia Court in Deir ez-Zor had demanded the execution of Abu Zaid for being homosexual, but the ISIS top commanders insisted to let him join the battlefronts in Iraq instead, as the group has been recently exposed to heavy losses in battles both in Syria and Iraq. check out the pictures here http://www.mactizzyblog.com/2016/01/injustice-isis-throws-syrian-teenage.html cc:Lalasticlala, mynd44, Seun |
